today 11/10 and still no update... whats happened with this?

We have to wait
Till now no Samsung phone received the October update.
Also the update does not contain many fixes from Samsung`s part maybe that is why they delay it, or maybe they are busy with Note 7
October? I still did not receive September.

Why are people complaining about not receiving the October update when there is still 20 days left in October?
It's just security updates each month anyway, nothing to get excited over
Maybe we get android nougat.[emoji2]

Some say it will be Nougat with Grace UX and October Security Patch.
Anyone brave enough to try?

Love how these sites don't put a date on their "news" stories.
They say "discovered only a week ago". Actually it was discovered last June. Google released a security update to fix it on Nov 8th.

Hopefully Samsung will get a security update to us soon that patches this.

So this is totally worthless? Can attempting this brick your phone?

Personal opinion: this is a serious flaw. Anyone would have to be crazy or not care about the results.
Received the November 2016 Security Update today. Fixes Dirty Cow among other things.

Has anyone else noticed any issues with their sensors after the December security patch? My auto rotate and proximity sensor both seem to be on the fritz. A reboot will temporarily fix the issue. I'm wondering if it's just my phone or others are experiencing these issues.

Agreed. Screen doesn't go off when raised to your ear sometimes and same thing with autorotate. Reboot fixes it. It's annoying though.

Driving me crazy! Most of the time not even the camera will rotate! Husband's phone is the same since last update.

Same here, I'm surprised how dead this forum is now. Hopefully 7 will be released soon and fix it, or an update in the interim.

I just got January's security patch. It's too early to tell if it fixed the sensor issues.

Have you tried backing up and saving your stuff and then doing a full factory reset to see if that fixes your problems?

Thought about it, but at this point it seems easier just to reboot the phone.
Of note though, the rotation failure seems to happen after using navigation...possibly. I'll report back if I can determine certain apps or actions trigger the failure.

I don't get why they even bothered with the sensors and auto rotate because there was nothing wrong with them to begin with!! I guess Verizon hasn't ever heard of "if it ain't broke, don't mess with it".. This is why I don't like updating anyway!

I don't understand it either. I know I'll be leaving the Samsung brand on my next upgrade! My wife bought a note 7 and went through that fiasco. After returning it and getting an S7 she hasn't seen a security patch since. She is sitting on Samsung's newest flagship and it's on October's security patch. Now my note 5 is flaky thanks to updates to things that were working just fine. I'm done, I'm hoping the next Pixel phone is everything I want it to be.

I've pretty much had it with Verizon at this point myself and I especially don't like being told what I can and can't do with the phone that I paid 800 dollars for in one payment only to find out it's all locked the hell down and Verizon won't even offer those of us who do want to mod our phones a way to unlock the bootloader.. It's like buying a car and being told where you can and cannot drive it.. Plain stupid!!

Once tax return comes in I'm looking for new phones and carrier. Been thinking about at&t prepaid and a couple OnePlus 3Ts for the wife and I.

I've already got my T-Mobile sim cards because I was testing a few carriers out and it seems like T-Mobile has the fastest speed, even beats Verizon which is sad! Basically I'm just waiting to see what the S8 is going to be like but it's not going to get bought if it's another locked down piece of junk!!

Yeah. Unfortunately in my area, T-Mobile isn't so hot. AT&T and Verizon are king.

Sorry to keep bugging you but could you please check in your Settings then About Device then scroll down to Android security patch level and let us know what it states (for example January 1, 2017)? OR in the same section, maybe you can also check what the Android Version is... It would be nice if you got the Nougat update/7.x!
If you have the February 1, 2017 patch then that's what most of us are waiting for to fix these issues! If you are still on the January patch then we need to look for another answer/fix.
Thanks in advance for your help!

It looks like BPL4 (Dec) broke it and BQA1 (Jan) did not fix it.
I'm having the same issues with the screen-off during call and auto-rotate issues (I'm running BQA1).

September patch for G8 allegedly fixes but at least one user says that a scanner still indicates unit is susceptible to Blueborne!

Thanks forbthe news, pretty pathetic really with the timeliness turnaround, doesnt this defeat the purpose of knox security and safteynet entirely? shouldnt theses two sevices be regarded as non functional on units that are not patched? You would think so.
on linux atleast, vulnerability is two, the kernel (patching a buffer overflow) and bluZ (bluetooth software) Perhaps it is the same on andeoid and samsung just addressed one ofbthe two vulnerability invsept update.
well perhaps we can now get a new jailbreak using blueborne exploit for every non supported ios device now on the market and possibly a cydia patch to patch blueborne.
I had a chat with a Samsung Agent a little over a week ago. Attaching a screenshot that will hopefully be helpful.
Anybody else get prompted on their 3A today September 30th to get Android 10 even though you already have ?
I got this update several days ago. I recall reading on the internet that it was a bug fixing update, although the one I received was rather large (over 1gb)

Mine's stating 12 MB...hmmmm.
And you'll get it next month, and every month after that... all 10.0.0, but with incremental bug and security fixes. They might bump to 10.1 along the way, or maybe not. They didn't for 9.0.0, it stayed that until the end.

Recall that there were actually two versions of Android 10 when it was first released (19 and 20). It's possible the difference in size is due to the different versions originally installed. Just guessing though.
