Anyone know what steps are necessary to get on Wear 2.x? I just received a new H Watch 2 Classic, paired it with my unrooted Note 8 and connected it to wifi. It did one round of updates and now when I go to Settings>System>About>Versions\Wear OS by Google it shows 1.2. Going to system updates simply says "System is up to date". This happens after a reboot as well.
I had the first generation HWatch so I figured I knew what I was doing here but I must be missing something obvious. It also seems like the new Wear OS app on my phone has a lot less functionality than the Android Wear app it replaced.
I have the exact same problem...
Here's an interesting Thing. Just did a complete factory reset and remove the wear OS and Huawei Health apps from my phone. Readded both and resynced and now it doesn't even list anything under Wear OS for version. In fact, it doesn't even have a line item for it..... This is not a great way to start off with this watch.
Found the following from here which may help? - https://support.google.com/wearos/thread/142720?hl=en
[SNIP] There's a bit of confusion regarding Wear OS versions. The long-story-short is that Wear OS 1.2 is the latest version so your watch is fully up to date.
Now for the explanation:
Android Wear versions were pretty easy to follow: Android Wear 1.5 -> Android Wear 2.0 - 2.9
When Android Wear was renamed to Wear OS, the Android Wear app was updated from Android Wear 2.9 to Wear OS 2.10. This was simply an application update delivered via the Play Store.
Watches started to receive the rebranding system OTA which carried the version label Wear OS 1.0, and corresponds to the Wear OS 2.10 app version.
Wear OS really carries two versions: one for the Wear OS app and one for the Wear OS system. The Wear OS app starts at 2.10 while the Wear OS system starts at 1.0.
The most current version of the Wear OS app is 2.12; the most current Wear OS system is 1.2.
Clear as mud, right? [SNIP]
That's right... I did some check... I bought a LG Watch Sport AND a Huawei Watch 2 Classic and made every possible updates on each devices yesterday night and this is what I got:

So... seems like Wear OS 1.2 IS the latest version available.
Wear OS 1.2 is the latest version. Changing the name from android wear to wear OS also changed the versions numbers. New name -> new number
That's it!

Android KitKat
Google has just announced that the next version of Android will be called KitKat and not Key Lime Pie, as rumoured earlier. Also, the next Android version number is 4.4 not 5.0, indicating that KitKat is not going to be a huge jump but a smaller upgrade.
The search giant has also placed the KitKat Android version statue along with previous versions in the Mountain View. Android boss Sundar Pichai posted a photo of the same on his Twitter account today.
In this tweet and on his Google+ account, Pichai revealed that Android has now crossed 1 billion device activations. This is up from 900 million activations figure shared at Google I/O 2013 earlier this year.
“… All this Android innovation is driving tremendous ecosystem momentum and I’m excited to share that together we’ve now passed 1 Billion Android device activations. Huge thanks to the entire Android community from the hardware manufacturers, chip makers and carriers to the developers and content creators to all of you – our Android users around the world – for making this possible,” Sundar wrote on Google+.

Let see how Sony give update to Android 4.4 KitKat
I don't think getting our mobile officially this version...
I thought Google would release 5.0 but they troll me xD I hope Sony will give the list of device's that are updating to 4.4 and hope there will be XL.
Stop dreaming guys.We're lucky if will get android 4.3 official.And since the development doesn't seems too bright,I'm considering selling my XL...I'll just wait for a little longer to see what's going on.Peace!
And about 5.0 troll,Android might run out of ideas...hope next version won't be 4.5,etc ...
This dream is a beautiful thing . I believe that it will get Android 4.3 and 4.4 on our Xperia L.
Just as we've seen from past experiences, WhatsApp has once again, decided to end support for more Blackberry devices running on Blackberry 10 OS and Windows Phones running Windows 8.0 version and below. According to Blackberry Support Page and WhatsApp FAQ Page.

I don't know this thingy that WhatsApp has with Blackberry devices, but i think that WhatsApp has naturally grown into hating Blackberry devices.
The world's most popular messaging app has once again decided to do a routine check in it's list of devices and by doing so, they've decided to shutdown operation on more blackberry devices and this time that targeting the blackberry 10 devices, such as the Blackberry Q series and the Z series, and Windows Phones running on version 8.0.
Support for Windows 7.0, Android 2.1 and 2.2 Froyo, and iOS 6 were shut down last year 2016.
And these are the list of devices that wouldn't be supporting WhatsApp in the near future..
1. Nokia Symbian s60 will be ending support on June 30 2017.
2. Nokia Symbian s40 will be terminating their support on December 31 2018
3. While Android 2.3.7 and older versions will go on until February 1 2020.
So Blackberry 10 and Windows Phone 8.0 owners, get ready for the next big thing. I think this is a best time to consider upgrading to an Android device, at least an Android 5.0 Lollipop device wouldn't be a bad idea at all.
So guys, that is it for now, sorry to those who are currently being affected by this new development from WhatsApp.
Let us know what you think of this move from WhatsApp, is it a smart move or just something to frustrate Blackberry and its users as a whole?
Bye and have a nice day. and Merry Christmas to All of Us.
Sad to hear that.
I have blackberry Q10 and I am using whatsapp
Installed from android APK file.
Hi guys,
I have recently bought a galaxy watch 4 (bluetooth version) and my phone is Samsung S8. My friend is able to install apps like messages for wear os and nike run club from the google play store in the watch (Below images with the watch). However I cannot find those apps in my watch play store, I have those apps in my phone but they are not showing up after I sync the phone with the watch either.
I tried to install them from google play website then I found out it says those apps are not compatible with my watch. Any ideas how I can install them on the watch please? Thanks a lot!

Probably because the Galaxy Watch 4 is the only Wear OS 3 device and a lot of apps are not compatible probably. Hopefully a future update will sort this out.

It's up to the app developers of said apps to "sort it out" nothing to do with the OS
I have the same issue. Had "messages for wear os" on my watch 4. Was working really fine. The I changed the watch (other colour). So on the new watch the app doesn't show in playstore or in "apps on smartphone".
Is there a workaround? With that app I could send WhatsApp messages at any time.
Edit: I sideloaded the app and it works good. Install wear installer and follow the guide (to start adb over wifi). Download messages for wear os on your phone. Then you can choose the app at the wear installer to install it on the watch. Done
Hi you all!
I've seen a couple of posts about gpay issues already but haven't found any about this one. I've bought my Galaxy Watch 4 BT version a couple of days ago and install gpay on it, I was able to add card, do the verification but then it asked me to set it as default payment and when I opened NFC setting the Gpay just simply not showing there like below:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I tried a couple of things:
- I restarted my watch/reinstalled the app/cleared cache for wearable app and gpay
- I disabled samsung pay through adb
- I installed older version of GPay using adb
Neither of those options worked, I was the closest with the last one, when I installed older version it did ask me to set it as default but I was able to dismiss the pop up and I was able to see my added card (the payment didn't work at store though) and weird thing happend after some time, when I opened the app again I got message like this
which doesn't seem right cause I'm using GPay constantly on my phone plus it allowed me to download the app from the store (on the watch) and add the card :|
Has anyone experienced the same issue and have some suggestions what else I could do to make it work?
Some devices detail:
Phone: Samsung Galaxy A7
Watch: Galaxy Watch 4 (Bluetooth version)
- Software version: R870XXU1EVA8
- System version: 11
- Wear OS version: 3.2
Versions of GPay app I tried on my watch:
- 2.141.414039067
- 2.137.401329300
- 2.135.389276953
- 2.72.209520801
Hey,
I have the exact same problem with my Galaxy Watch 4 LTE.
Already contacted Google, but they're blaming Samsung.
Paying seems to be a nightmare with this watch, until yesterday it wasn't even possible to add new cards. Now you can add cards, but can't select the app in the NFC settings...
At least I havent gotten the "not launched" notification yet.
There's also a thread in the Samsung community: https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/wearables/google-pay-on-galaxy-watch-4-not-working/m-p/4373741
Hi!
Thanks for the reply and for sharing the link! I tried this yesterday https://forum.xda-developers.com/posts/85581263/ and it worked but today morning somehow my watch got unpaired from my phone and I had to do reset and configure everything from the beginning so I guess wasn't worth it after I reset my phone tho and I change the location seems like I'm able to install the app from the google pay and use the app but it got disabled all the time for some reason
I am a vanilla Android guy, and hate all the Samsung things about my GW4. The Pixel watch doesn't look like it's going to be my thing, aesthetically.
Is there a Vanilla Wear ROM floating around out there that would work for the GW4? I bet it runs a zillion times better than this clunky moshpit of Wear and Samsung mashed together.
I would also be interested in it. I think it should be enough if we could use "vanilla wear os" home app instead of "one ui watch Home" you can find it under apps "choose default app" section.

I know it's not what you want but there is another home app for Samsung wear os called bubble cloud launcher. It takes a bit of a learning curve BUT I have found it's better on battery life than regular watchfaces with lots of complications.

Unfortunately there isn't, mostly because there is no root options for Samsung watches, and because Samsung hasn't released the firmware to the public so there's no base to build a ROM on with drivers and firmware because Samsung refuses to let the public make stuff.
Samsung released Source Code for Kernel for GW4 and GW5... available since monthS
Samsung Open Source
opensource.samsung.com
So this is not the problem...
Problem IMHO... to use netOdin for Custom stuff... to bypass Security check.
Because only way confirmed via USB cable... and ODIN...
Maybe look here:
Rooting Galaxy Watch4
I've unlocked bootloader, got boot.img(hashes match in update.zip and my boot.img + it boots fine), patched it and vbmeta in tar by magisk 24.3, but when i flash new boot.img, it throws me "SECURE FAILED: BOOT" error on watch and system doesn't...
