Mate 9 bricked to eRecovery screen - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Hello all!
I bought a Mate 9 from Ebay with (United Arab Emirates provenience, I live in Italy) that was successfully rooted.
A few days ago I realized that the phone had heavy slowdowns and the "Zygote" process required me to access root.
Looking on the net I realized that the phone had a trojan.
Under these conditions I had to do a factory reset, but this was not allowed by the relative menu because the last confirmation was blocked without ever starting with the reset.
I tried to put other Roms without success, in the end I made a relock of the bootloader but the phone did into eRecovery without being able to restore the rom from wifi (the message that gives me is a failed...).
At the moment the phone is in these conditions:
Root: NO (I was able to remove it)
Bootloader: locked
Recovery: TWRP
Huawey official support in my city said me that this phone is not their competence because it is outside EU,
and they can not take it for repair, neither under warranty nor outside.
Can I do something to restore it?
Is there still life in this phone?
Thank you

FRP unlock for DAV-701L?

Hi guys,
I followed this post to root my P8 Max http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8max/general/p8max-root-guide-d-701l-d-703l-t3269213
Problem is, that my phone just died after 3 more reboots. It was working fine and rooted but after 3 reboots it would only boot into TWRP and then not at all. I had to flash the stock firmware B005 (from B002).
Bootloader is unlocked but now FRP lock is always on in Fastboot mode and I cannot get rid of it.
Any attempt to flash anything results in failure as FRP is always on. Is there any way of getting rid of this besides taking it to a service center?

That's the problem : Android 5.0.1 had that, which was the original firmware for the P8 Max DAV-701L, meaning B002.
B005 which is Android 5.1.1 does not have the option "Allow OEM unlock" in Developer Options or anywhere else in the menu.
The firmware that I flashed in order to save my device is B005 and when flashing using EMUI recovery, it fails at 51% and then the phone restarts. After restart, it works fine, except :
-no motion controls in menu
-increased battery consumption
-Fastboot mode reports : Phone - Unlocked / FRP - Locked
I can't find the original firmware for my device anywhere. Not even recovery with WiFi has it or HiSuite. Huawei support is absolute ****.
So now I have a device with an unlocked bootloader but the FRP lock is always on so I can't flash anything, not even the original recovery.
I don't even know why FRP is on. I reset the device 3 times and it never asked me for the google account. I have always used the same account on all my devices and even the google servers report that my current device is P8 Max.

Thanks, Peter. I'll wait a bit more. If not option comes up, I'll take it to a service center to have it flashed back to stock and leave it alone until the development options mature for this device.
Cheers!

But the empty page in motion controls its only one xml file, you can copy in data/cust/xml and then all options are there, but for
increased battery consumption i have no idea

Fixed in in the service center. Huawei is still very immature in terms of software support. I'd wait a few more years before trying to root this thing again. If the software version for the DAV-701L for the EMEA region is anything but DAV-701LV100R001C100B002 the phone will hate it.
I am back on DAV-701LV100R001C100B002 and the phone has just eaten 10% battery since this morning. Feels good.

Huawei 8 FRD-AL10 boots to eRecovery

I recently purchased my Huawei 8 FRD-AL10 on Gearbest and it came with nougat installed with all languages available. Firmware seemed to be very clean, no chinese applications, only some games that I easily unninstalled.
I used the phone for a few days until an update appeared on my phone. I don't recall the exact name of the update, other than it required a 2.41 GB download. The update was left to run on its own, with plenty of battery still left on the phone.
When I came back to check the phone it was sitting on Huawei eRecovery. Rebooted the phone but it always seems to get back to eRecovery no matter what I do.
If i restart the phone by pressing POWER and VOL + and choose the option to recover to factory defaults, it will do its thing all the way to 100%. Once I restart the phone it will always go back to eRecovery.
I reached Huawei by phone and they claim the support is out of coverage as the phone is designed for the chinese market.
Is there a way to recover the phone?
I loaded the stock android 6 rom marshmallow for FRD-AL10 available on the forum onto an SD card.
Inserted the SD card on the phone and pressed both volume (VOL + and VOL-) and POWER buttons, to force the upgrade. It then eventually fails with the following error message "Software install failed! Incompatibility with current version. Please download the correct update package!"
Removed the SD card and booted the phone and connected the usb cable and a prompt came up to install a device named HUAWEI L19.
How can this be? Why is my phone being detected as a FRD-L19?

My friend has the same exact problem that you are writing here about. Could you send me the link you have to android 6.0 you found for the FRD-AL10. I will search around and get back to you.
If it's as I think it is, you need to rebrand your phone to AL10 or use MM of L19

To make it simple. Long story short, bought phone from gearbest, you can check the details here. Phone is an FRD-AL10 intended for chinese market and officially comes with chinese/english, but as you can see on gearbest its "unlocked for european use" and they upgraded to nougat added extra languages to the phone before they shipped it to me . They unlocked the phone and debranded it to its european counterpart (honor 8 FRD-L19) which has very similar hardware.
Phone arrived to me with broken seal, and sure enough it had all the languages and emui 5.0 (which is not stock version) installed on it.
In regards to the stock firmware for AL10 I was able to find it here

That makes sense. If I load the AL10 firmware it show an error message because the info on the phone is for model L19.
Any guides on how to do it? It might be also useful for other users in the same situation as me.

FRD-L19 its the european version of Honor 8.
FRD-AL00 >>> China version (?) (32 GB)
FRD-AL10 >>> China version with 4GB Ram + 64 GB Rom
FRD-AL09 >>> EU version 32 GB
FRD-AL19 >>> EU version 64 GB
FRD-AL04 >>> US version 32 GB
FRD-AL14 >>> US version 64 GB
Please check this thread for details
L04 L14 are for US
L09 L19 are for EU, that's what I know

The box came with broken seal, that's correct. When I first turned on the phone for initial setup I noticed that it included ALL languages available but the phone should come stock with English and Chinese ONLY.
It came with emui 5 (android 7) installed BUT the latest stock official rom for this model (AL10) is emui 4 (android 6). Only european models have emui 5 available.
So, to my understanding, the phone did not come stock from factory with nougat, they changed it to make it "european" before sending it to me. This explains why the box seal was broken. Please check gearbest listing details for my phone here.

They are not, unfortunately! I have a ticket raised with them and they are denying the whole thing even when I told them straight that the stock emui 4 (android 6) that comes factory stock with this model (FRD-AL10 chinese model) does not have all languages as they advertise.on their site. Only non-chinese versions of honor 8 do come with all languages and emui 5.
Also they are avoiding answer the question on how emui 5 came installed on the phone when the listing says emui 4.
Ah, I am shocked right now
Anyone else that might bought the phone on gearbest that would like to share their story and how you have overcome the issue?

I have a ticket raised with gearbest and they are denying the fact that they sold me a phone with broken seal and emui 5, so how can I trust them? Since the phone now only boots to eRecovery I have no possible way to prove that the phone has emui 5.
I am afraid that if i ship it back to them, through their service, they will come up with an excuse, that I broke the phone in the first place, since they already have the phone and my money on their side. The real problem is that I have now trust faith on their service!

This is what worked for me:
I could not access my phone or even boot into Android to get the Product ID to get the UNlock code for the bootloader etc.
1. Initially my phone was in a boot-loop where it stops at the Huawei eRecovery screen and would not download or update via WiFi.
2. So the 1st step was to download a rollback package for my specific model - FRD-AL10. Then I used the "dload" method (SD Card > "dload" folder, Pwr+Vol UP+ Vol Down) to apply the rollback from whatever it was to FRD-AL10...B135. Succeeded perfectly.
3. Then I downloaded the stock firmware for FRD-AL10, Chinese model, non-specific and again used used the "dload" method to flash the stock firmware to the phone. Succeeded perfectly.
4. The phone rebooted to a 'out-of-the-box' first start-up screen prompting me to select the the Region. Thereafter the Language, WiFi, Agreement, etc and then started looping again to where it went back to the "Selection" screens > Region, Language, WiFi, Agreement, etc. > loop again back to Region, Language, etc.
5. I flashed the firmware again using the "dload" method with the same result.
Note: All other posts suggested I had to 'unlock' the bootloader, root the phone, etc. Unfortunately I did not have access to Android on the phone to get the Product ID, to get the UNlock code, etc. This is where I got stuck. I used different tools, but none would work as the bootloader / phone was LOCKED & the phone UNrooted, FRP was locked.
6. Then I used "Huawei DC Unlocker". I had to buy credits first - 15 Euros. Then used "Huawei DC Unlocker" to essentially "UNLOCK" the phone, it did not "UNLOCK" the bootloader, but it did something to the "FRP" locked issue.
7. I restarted the phone in "SAFE" mode. I was again presented with the "Selection" screens > Region, Language, etc, BUT this time the phone booted into Android.
8. Rebooted the phone in "Normal" mode and it booted into Android. NOW I had access to the dial-pad and could now get access to "Developer" options like USB debugging, get the Product ID of the phone to get the UNLOCK code from Huawei, etc.
9. Once I had all the information I needed, I then 'unlocked' the bootloader by following the instructions from Huawei's website using "fastboot.exe" etc.
10. I then followed 'debranding' instructions from posts elsewhere on XDA to convert the phone from FRD-AL10 to FRD-L09/L19 firmware. (https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/help/help-honor-8-chinese-t3489773/page3)
I hope this information will help someone.

Can't install Recovery on SM-G955F from Claro PR

Hello.
(backstory, boring) So, in efforts to root my device, after successfully doing it (or so I thought), I clicked the restart button on the "your phone has been modified, restart to undo process" notification from samsung. My phone had a message that the custom binary had been blocked when restarting. After a while I fixed it just by installing stock firmware from the internet, but not the original from Claro as it didn't have any of the bloatware.
(question) I'm trying to install the recovery now but I keep getting "custom binary(recovery) blocked due to remaining installment balance" on the download section for Odin, and it obviously fails.
OEM Lock: OFF
FRP Lock: OFF
So what is the problem? I already tried installing all the stock files from the firmware I found, but no success.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,

I'm able to upgrade/downgrade. I've moved past it and decided not to root it. So I installed 8.0 stock rom for PR signals.
I recently bought an unlocked s8+ which was from Claro, and am getting the same error. This error started popping up after I did a factory reset. The phone was never registered with Claro before, and has a clean IMEI. Does anyone know what could be done to stop this message?

Hello friends, did anyone manage to figure this out? im quite mad as ive never seen pre-normal state for RMM. I waited 10 days and no oem ever showed up. I too get this error and can not flash twrp. If anyone has managed to fix this, please help me out if possible. Thanks.
I had...have, actually, the same problem. I bought this phone on Ebay for the express purpose of rooting and running cfw. But when i try to install anything custom i get that same message that a balance is owed on this device. I even tried contacting Claro to inquire about paying the balance.
Long story short, I ordered another Exynos s8 and made sure it wasn't from Puerto Rico or Claro first.

I sold my US version and bought this Exynos version on eBay specifically so I could root. In developer options OEM unlock was missing. I tried flashing TWRP anyway and got the "custom binary blocked due to balance owed on the phone". I never got the pie update and any firmware I tried to install other than the one that came on the phone failed. I ended up just buying a different phone and made sure it was not Claro.
Well I pulled this one out today and flashed a non claro pie firmware. SM-G955FXXS8DTC6. Amazingly it passed. When I got the phone on the OEM unlock toggle was there and I got excited. I flashed the latest TWRP an it failed and I got that same annoying notification about the outstanding balance. But I do have OEM unlocked now at least. That's progress. There has to be a way around this

PDEM30 stuck in recovery

Title. Unlocked my bootloader Saturday, that went smoothly, but then I greedily tried to root via unofficial TWRP which caused my device to give the error boot/recovery destroyed. I managed to get back to fastboot eventually and flashed stock recovery. Tried formatting everything, wiping data and then flashing stock rom. It won't let me flash however, it just states that my version is newer. Tried flashing via TWRP as well, but that gives me error 7 and something about some partitions not being mounted correctly (product and two others.)
I am looking for someone who could upload their Firehose/rawprogram0.xml/patch0.xml and/or their gpt file.
I am also accepting tips on how to proceed with fixing this as my retailer told me that they won't cover this under warranty.
Did u ask how much would be to pay for the fix? If it's not expensive it's worth it cause seems nobody here knows how to fix it.

Update on this one;
Contacted oppo UK on a whim, they told me that due to it being a find x2 pro it would be covered by international warranty. I had to pay for shipping by myself and return shipping to me, total cost of ~50£ (I don't live in the UK)
The phone has been repaired and i am currently waiting for it to arrive back.
They successfully repaired it and now I'm eager to see if they managed to get global firmware on it, because in the repair statement the model got listed as CPH2025 instead of PDEM30 which is the model i have.
Update#2;
Got the phone back today (finally).
It's still a PDEM30 model, bootloader still unlocked but fails safetynet checks.
Otherwise good as new, thank fck for global warranty.
