[PETITION/GER] Support of VoLTE & WIFICALL in Germany of ONEPLUS Smarthphones - OnePlus 6 Guides, News, & Discussion

The company OnePlus should finally take care of the full support of VoLTE and WiFiCall at the three major German providers (Telekom, Vodafone, o2). So far even the flagships do not support any of these technologies, although on the hardware side all prerequisites exist and the technology is also advertised in Germany in the hardware specifications.
Explanation
OnePlus has developed the OnePlus 6, a very competitive product that does not support the simplest communication technologies, at least in Germany.
These would be VoLTE and WiFiCall. In India, these technologies are supported. In Germany, with identical hardware, but not. This is due to the reluctance of Oneplus to implement the techniques correctly and completely.
Important are the mentioned technologies for users with little to no reception in the 2G and / or 3G network. Telephone calls could be transmitted over the LTE network, or WLAN. However, this is not possible because of OnePlus itself.
Inquiries concerning this problem are answered via ChatBot, with the immediate answer that there is no agreement with e.g. the telecom would exist.

It does not work. Over 500 supporters who tested and reported it is not working. As the text says: the technical infrastructure is there, but does not work.

Dont working for me with Telekom.

Even if both, the device and the carrier, support VoLTE or VoWIFI, it doesn't necessarily work. Usually a carrier firmware is needed. Some carriers offer VoLTE only to phones sold by them. For example, I'm in UK and on EE. Beside my OnePlus 6 I have an unlocked Galaxy S8. In order to have VoLTE on my S8 I had to flash an EE branded firmware.
All in all, this petition should include those carriers too and not just OnePlus.

Its not like that anymore. Xiaomi is not even sold officially by Telekom, o2 or Vodafone in Germany and still they have these features.
Oneplus just needs to implement it, but they don't.
Edit: 553 signatures and counting...this is a serious problem.

Its a dummy for an unsupported feature.

maybe everyone should check these paths with a (root) file explorer:
data/vendor/radio/modem_config/mcfg_sw/
firmware/image/modem_pr
read file "mbn_sw.txt" it's a kind of listing for the deeper paths.
in my opinion you could check if your COUNTRY/CARRIER combo is the lucky one....just check the china path... VOLTE voila!
.../generic/eu.. does have data for "ee" "elisa" "telefoni" "h3g" "telia"....but not for every country...
could anyone in here confirm that O2 / UK give your OP6 VOLTE super powers? anyone from great britain here....

Just checked on mine (German). In this file there are these paths yes, but in my version there is "china" alsways the "volte" term in the path.
With all eu carriers there is no term "volte" in the path... might not play a role, but at least it's a difference in the wording....

I've managed to get vowifi and volte working with the VoEnabler module for magisk. Everything works surprisingly, but for some reason my phone won't recognise incoming phone numbers properly when on these services, resulting in unknown/private number.
I have a feeling its something to do with the radio modem files that you've linked, but no luck so far. If I manage to get it working I'll follow up.
It's annoying as Huawei and xiaomi phones have over 100 entries in their mbn_sw.txt file, whereas oneplus has only a dozen or so... Ive come to the conclusion that, in the UK anyway, the phone manufacture has more to do with this than the carrier..
Sorry for the formatting, at work on mobile

Advice on buying Galaxy S8+ SM-G9550 6GB version for european market

Hi All,
It's been a long while since I have posted something, but I have been using and reading up on XDA with much gratitude since I joined in 2010. The community represented here is just awesome in every way, and I would like you all to know that. I wanted to ask you guys for advice on the following matter:
I currently own a galaxy note 5 in the Netherlands, which I have purchased in Dubai. I decided on the dual sim model, since I find the dual sim capability for my work and private sim very important. The phone has done me well in the last 18 months (worked without any trouble in NL, and is rooted), but now I think it's time to replace it. My new phone of choice would be the Galaxy S8 plus, preferably the 6GB model. Of course this would also need to be the dual sim version, otherwise I could just buy the normal version here in the Netherlands. I have some friends living over in Hong Kong, which would allow me to buy the phone there.
Now for the hard part. Not only does the phone need to be dual sim, it also needs to support all dutch bands (including volte if possible) and it must be able to be rooted (adblock on its own is enough reason to justify that, let alone all other possibilities). I am used to flashing kernels and roms on my phones, as per the consice instructions found on this forum.
The phone that meets my criteria seems to be the SM-G9550 (6GB) that can be bought in Hong Kong. Would you guys please advise me on whether you think that would function here in the Netherlands and whether I can root it? And if not, what would you advise me to do given the above?
Thanks a ton in advance
@kimi4life
The G9550 is the Chinese/HK variant of the GS8+, and while it does support LTE Bands 3, 7 and 20 (those used by Vodafone NL), the combination of bands, known as Carrier Aggregation (or 4G+), may or may not work. Moreover, VoLTE and WiFi calling (if applicable) will NOT work with this variant.
The reason behind this, is the CSC. Since the G9550 is only sold in China and Hong Kong, it does not have a Netherlands CSC (Carrier Specific Customization), so you'll have all Chinese and possibly even carrier bloatware for China.
There is a way to get a G955FD CSC (EU variant) on your G9550 (CN/HK variant) phone by rooting it and flashing a custom ROM and CSC switcher, you can check Nicholaschum's thread in the Discussion section on how to do that. Do keep in mind that doing all that voids KNOX and there is no way to reset the KNOX counter.
However, the Chinese variant has no custom ROMs, and you'd be better off with the Exynos G955FD variant.
I wouldn't recommend going through all the trouble though, the 64GB/4GB S8+ is pretty good on its own. If you pick up a G955FD, and pop in a Netherlands SIM card, it'll automatically switch to the right CSC based on your country and what carrier you're on. This variant can be rooted, has a few decent stock based custom ROMs, and gets software updates more often than the Chinese variant. You will also have no issues about LTE band compatibility since the 955FD fully supports all networks in Netherlands.

Thanks a ton for the clear explanation! It would seem the G955FD would be the best choice then. I'm not sure if these are also sold in HK, i'll just check online if they are. Small bummer on the storage space, since I've heard it is not expendable when using the second sim. Then again, if I go abroad I might as well switch out one of the sims and place an SD card.

my friend is brining me over a G9550 from HK over the weekend. o2 in the UK have not cleared the s8/s8+ for wifi calling and volte yet, but when they do, where is the link to root and install custom rom and csc on it so i can hopefully get it to work with these services?
im getting the phone for free, so i can't complain with free!

will the korean exynos firmware or custom rom built for that device even work for the snapdragon G9550?!
No need to root for adblocker, you can get adblocker through "Adhell" or "Disconnect for samsung browser" in play store. I don't think rooting is worth it on such a new device with many functions out of the box. Substratum also got samsung support without root.

You sure you have the APNs right?
Dial *#2683662# and tell me if a Service Mode menu pops up.
Erm I did get some OTA configurations when I put my Vodafone sim card in but I didn't accept them settings as it was browser changes and I didn't think they affected my data connection, could they be it?
It said:
service mode
menu not exist
press back to continue
current command is 1000
Edited to add:
I just looked in my access point list in settings and it does come up with Vodafones access point settings
Edited again to add:
I spoke to Vodafone who checked my APN settings and assured me they were correct
Edited again again to add:
Added the APN settings manually, restarted my phone and now it works with 4G ?

That's because the Chinese variants don't support carrier aggregation on the same bands used by networks in the UK.

Hello, it's pretty simple in this case.
512 GB version is available internationally, is single-SIM, has fully working VoLTE and VoWi-Fi, has firmware named PCH and its global ROM is vastly superior to the Chinese one (less bloatware, very little restrictions about customization).
256 GB version is available only in China, is dual-SIM, has neither VoLTE nor VoWi-Fi, has firmware named PDEM and its Chinese ROM has some bloatware and more importantly unpleasant and incovenient restrictions for the user.
Hope that helps
More advanced answer:
Currently there's a battle on two fronts:
users try to flash the much more user-friendly Global ROM on the Chinese device but without success so far; it seems that an unlocked booloader might be required which is still a long way to go
users try to make the Global model work as dual-SIM as it actually physically has a double SIM-card tray so there is a tiny possibility that it's a very weird software limitation (breakable in the future) but I would't have high hopes
Thank you, I want / need dual sim, (work etc) so will probably have to give this a "miss" unless.......

No problem, glad I could.. "help".
No one has a clue why Oppo made this limitation, both phones (CPH and PDEM) are identical (hardware-wise), both have dual SIM-card tray but only the Chinese software is capable with working with two SIMs.
The phone is so great I might let go of dual-SIM requirement but I understand it's the decisive factor for many. Oppo has surely cut their profits by doing this and I've never seen anything like this before (phone hardware supporting it but an artificial software change blocking it).
I agree totally, it's ludicrous that this should be the case?
If only they gave users the choice? After all it's £1099 phone, it should be!?
Apparently Clove, (UK) has the dual sim version. Ceramic black only though, at the moment.

It's either a typo (misleading information), or they're offering the Chinese model with Chinese software and 256 GB storage (the latter option is very unlikely).
Remember, technically the phone is always dual-SIM. That might be the source of their information.

Ok, that sounds strange (or interesting, depending on the point of view). Currently, as the international CPH version of Find X2 Pro doesn't support dual-SIM, there are two possibilities:
- they're still sharing misleading information (deliberately or not) and the phone will be single-SIM
- the phone will come with a brand new version of Global ROM firmware which somehow enables dual-SIM (and which hasn't been released yet), which would give hope to other users of international CPH version.
Hardware-wise the version you're ordering is 99% the same as the ones already released in countries like Netherlands, Germany.

I might add, that until this question is clarified? I will not be ordering,
Single SIM?
Dual SIM??
it's just all over the place at the moment??
I thought i posted this here also :
Ok after some research, and reading another post in the forum, i can mostly confirm that there ARE 2025 GLOBAL models with dual sim around. Apparently the Clove is getting the dual sim.
Clove find x2 pro
and i confirm this is correct by going to the UK site of oppo...

This means that's even crazier than i thought... some markets, even in the EU get the dual sim and others dont....
but just to make you laugh check this out :

I stand corrected!!! Oppo is really not clear on this.
As this is very WRONG
on the top of their site : it says "dual 5G" which can make one believe that it's dual SIM. But when you scroll down to "network" it clearly says "Single sim".
Uk Oppo site
So why do they mention dual 5G ?(maybe the two 5G (mmWave and the other one).
I sent an email to Oppo asking for some clarfication.
I checked all around the world which markets have dual sim (outside of China) and apparently none have it.
So i'm waiting on feedback from another member who has a 2025 but dual SIM... this is all very confusing.
just to add some more confusion (salt into wounds, so to speak) into this... Amazon UK also claims "dual-sim" in their pre-order for June 10th release. Also Orange version, 12GB 512GB.... sold and dispatched by Amazon... :crying: :fingers-crossed:
I loved this phone in PDEM version but the lockdown of the software made me switch to Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro (plus I can use custom roms). Dual SIM especially since this is band capable for TMobile and Verizon in the states. I love dual sim... if dual sim is confirmed, i'm switching back in a heartbeat... just given the facts though, I think it is sellers typo in their information. Oppo clear states on UK site, CPH2025 model, Single SIM.

OnePlus 8 (IN2010) Chinese Bands vs Europe

Hello,
i would just like to know if OnePlus 8 (China version) is good enough to support 4G LTE in EU, does it have all the bands required? I've read about "band 28" which it lacks and that this will be used for 5G? I don't care for 5G (yet), so my question is, will it work for everything else, is it good enough, i'm from Slovenia if that helps, i've been checking the bands, but i'm too confused to know what to think about this, those are too confusing for me, i've been checking them, but i'm just not sure, i think it should be fine, but i'm not 100% sure, so if anyone who knows this stuff can tell me, or even better, someone who has that OnePlus 8 phone can tell me, that would be great (=
Greetings
I have just ordered a CN version for use in the UK and from what i have read it lacks 1 frequency (band 32 i think) which from what i'm aware o2 in UK doesn't use .... Is this correct anyone? (Sorry if this a thread hijack)

Hi, just to be sure we're on the same page, I read that IN2010 is the international version (5 4gLTE bands support) and IN2020 is the Chinese one, which is missing one band used here in Europe.
Are you sure IN2010 is Chinese ?

Oh thx, I didn't see that one coming , so I have 2 questions : where to search for those infos (regional variants numbers I mean) and is this a software matter or a hardware matter ? (Will there be missing/China specials bands in it or it's just software)
Edit:
Are there any global version of the OnePlus 8, if so what would be its regional variant name ?

I just use google to find out a variant. The main differences are hardware related, specifically the bands of the device. There is also a chinese version of Oxygen OS which is called Hydrogen OS , but this can change easily by flashing global unlocked OxygenOS without any compromises.
Here you can learn more about the bands in each version : https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/g1rm7e/oneplus_8_pro_versions_and_4glte_and_5g_nr/
Edit: I think there is not a global version bandwise. (US, Europe, India and China as far as i know )

Hi,
Thanks for all this clarification, indeed I've been kinda fooled by marketing speech...
I've bought the OnePlus 8 not on the OnePlus website but on another one, and the announce said "OnePlus International Version IN2010", I was like "cool, plus it's cheap, let's get this".
Now I understand the business behind the whole website (a French one): they buy in China, flash the global rom manually and sells it cheaper, but make a little margin on the final price. That's why they call it international, just because of the ROM!
I knew (but still wanted confirmation) about missing bands a HydrogenOS and now I fully understand the market scheme. So I'll be missing B28 band (used in France with my career for 4G LTE)and an EU-compatible charger. No big deal but I'm kinda disappointed in myself, not being able to see through marketing speech and candidly trusting attractive prices... Well, we learn as we make mistakes (and I'm not ready to forgot that one).
One last think, kil-movil had a section for the OnePlus 8 called "Global" with every bands marked as available, and the model number was still IN2010. I guess they're part of the deal, since when I clicked on "see offers" I was redirected to the website I bought it in.
Even the seller was lying as he said "compatible with every bands in France". And when people ask, he was denying it every single time
Thanks for your explanations tho, I'll be able to warn the next ones at least.

That is unfortunate. Can't you claim RMA or something?

Yup don't worry, I can return it and having all my money back but I don't think I will, my Nextbit Robin (daily driver) is dying and not having B28 4G out of 4 other antennas available isn't a big deal. I have only 50 Mo of data so I don't use 4G often. I would have been bothered by the charger but the seller claims (if it's not a lie) that he gives us an adapter. (Comments says he does, so hopefully he'll do)
Right now the only thing I have to do is getting past the disillusionment with some good music. Have you any title to recommend?
I have here listed supported 4G & 5G bands and Carrier Aggregation combinations of OnePlus 8:

IN2013= EU version, not global, there is no global version.
But thx for the website, it's nice to have that tool
Is it possible to activate the VoLTE service (Vodafone ITA) with IN2010?
Hello, I have just ordered the oneplus 8 through Fnac and I think it is the version IN2010, seem like I cant find any EU version from fnac ( sorry im new in France )
My question is do you know any others site selling op8 EU version if not, does the IN2010 work fine in france?

[5G/esim] Regional Lock

Hello there,
The first users began to receive their devices by pre-order. In several regions, it was found that the device is being sold without esim and 5G support. For example, in Africa and the CIS countries. After numerous complaints from users, Samsung promised to unblock esim in two weeks, but according to them, 5G modem is physically not there. This directly contradicts what was said at the conference about a single model for all. The device model (SM-F916B) and firmware are exactly the same as those sold in the UK or Germany.
In the modem firmware code in the region settings, the line is simply removed:
[FIRMWARE.ZIP]\[CSC_FILE]\optics_\configs\carriers\single\[REGION_CODE]
Code:
<CscFeature_SystemUI_ConfigOpBranding5GIcon>5GAvailable</CscFeature_SystemUI_ConfigOpBranding5GIcon>
Could someone with a working 5G show their build.prop file? I suppose 5G is also programmatically blocked, but I need proof.
build.prop
Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\ADB>adb shell
f2q:/ $ getprop
...
[persist.radio.multisim.config]: [ss]
...
[ril.5g_rf]: [1]
[ril.enabled_5g_rf]: [0] << THIS
[ril.modem.board]: [SDX55M]
This z fold 2 is from germany:
[persist.radio.multisim.config]: [ss]

[ril.enabled_5g_rf]: [1]

Are you sure that esim will support will come through Software Update?

I was told so on the Samsung hotline. For example, the Italian version has a similar problem with esim.
Are you saying that the version sold in the UK does NOT have the 5G modem? How can they be selling me a Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G if it doesn't have 5G?
If this is the case then, seeing as they have already pushed my delivery back I am going to cancel my order and carry on not using Samsung phones.
I am not with EE in the UK but their pre-order information for the Fold 2 states "Pre-order the 5G-enabled Galaxy Fold2" so surely it must have the modem or they will have a lot of angry customers.
Just checked Carphone Warehouse here and they have it listed as being 5G.
Maybe I misunderstood or the information isn't accurate?

In UK and rest of the Europe it's 5G enabled. This is mostly for Asian and African market where 5G rollout will take few years
Russian Samsung customer support says, that esim and 5G will be activated in ~2 weeks ...

Phew! lol I'm hoping that is the case but reading the first post it looked like the 5G modem is not physically there and it's the same model and firmware as ones sold in the UK.

All Snapdragon 865 (or plus) are built in with 5G modem, that is one of the reason for higher prices of Flagships this year. So 5G modem is there but in some countries it's disabled via software
Since this phone only comes with Qualcomm processors, Samsung is forced to pay around $80 for a 5G license per device. According to a source close to Samsung, they decided to save money in some countries.
Got my Z Fold 2 5G yesterday (in Netherlands) and there is indeed no esim. The box has 2 IMEI listed, but the phone shows only one. No "sim card manager" inside settings menu either. I called samsung "premier support" this morning and they had no clue. the support rep gave me a complete non-sense reason (i.e. esim is not allowed by the carrier - lol) and I very quickly realized there is no point arguing. I hope they enable it in 2 weeks or mine is going back.
I received a confirmation from Samsung Moderator from Samsung community website.
The phone is compatible with esim.
The problem will be solved via an update.
Update is currently in test and validation phase.
But 2 weeks seems a little bit long for a premium device.
Have you 2 IMEI or one?

Thanks for the good news.
I have 2 IMEI listed on the box - and samsung confirmed that it's a dual phone / esim model. Can you please reference the community thread?
I got mine from Samsung Portugal. 5G is enabled (but we have no 5G network yet) but no esim. I have 2 IMEI listed on the box btw. Indeed the Sim card manager option is not there. I called Samsung and they have no clue why it is not there. They will call me back in 1 hour. I will let you know. This is kind of dishonest from Samsung. Selling a product like this one and not telling users that all functions they paid high price for, are not available right out of the box. I am feeling as bad as when I got my S20 ultra with all the camera defaults. I have 2 weeks to send it back. telling us that it will be available within 2 weeks is kind of weird.
I received my UK model today - 5G is working fine, but no e-sim/sim manager etc. Fingers crossed they get it sorted soon - the official launch is tomorrow, you'd think the carriers would be pushing them to resolve it for then!
What does it mean if you only have one imei number?
/CK
E D I T :
I have two imeis on the phone box/case but only one in "About phone"
Waiting on eSiM solution too - agree not cool to advertise and sell with a major feature missing - phone is great - just need 2 sims if I want to use it as my daily driver ...

Pixel 5 - 5G Certification

Hey guys
i live in switzerland and now i got my hands on a pixel 5. Now I had to find out that Google is doing something stupid and certifies mobile operators for 5G.
Swisscom apparently has no certification, but 5G runs and works flawlessly with the Mi 10 Pro.
Is there any way to turn off this junk so that 5G simply works with every provider?
Thanks for your help
Are you using DualSim? I've read somewhere that in this case 5G is off
Gesendet von meinem CMR-AL09 mit Tapatalk
No im not using dualsim. Even on Network search no 5g network is found ?
It's Google's fault, indeed, I can't use 5G in Romania either. I'm waiting for a while, maybe they'll just allow us, from the countries where they don't sell official their phone, to use the full capabilities.
If they don't I'll just root and I'll do it myself, but I think Google will eventually unlock the 5G connectivity, it's hurting their "official" customers by not being able to roam on 5G or use their phone with a local sim when needed.

It's a similar problem on OnePlus 8, I think. We need to edit a file, carrier policy, and the phone will then allow 5G connections. The problem here is that on OnePlus you can retrieve the file from the phone without root, with a Qualcomm software, and then put it back, edited, with the same software. On Pixel that program isn't working so I assume the only way to access and edit that file is by rooting.
I don't want to root yet, I'm waiting a while. First of all to find out an official answer about the software shipped with the phones in Europe, a presumably KDDI Japan version and second, to see if Google doesn't fix the problem, since there are way too many people affected.
I'm from mainland China. I've ordered a Pixel 5 and just realized that it doesn't support 5g in my country! What a shame Google permit 5g for only specific carriers and block out others, while the hardware of P5 is 100% capable for supporting almost every carriers around the world!
Wondering if Google can see this post and fix that problem via ota.
emmm

Thx. Maybe I'll post there.
Same problem here in the MENA region. Same with oneplus 8 series and Nord. I have a 5G sim and carrier but with these phones including Pixel 5 it's blocked. I don't want to root. It's really stupid even VoLTE is blocked here. (Kuwait)

I think you're %100 correct on this.
Any news after the update? I returned my Pixel for the gap issue but I am interested to see if there are any changes regarding the 5G locked issue...
Got the November update and no 5G yet
I just switched over to esim today with tmobile unrooted, stock, and November patch. It shows 5g in the status bar.
BUT, under wifi and network in settings , there is no 5g where *lte 3g 2g* are.
I guess the above poster is right

Edit. I live on the east coast of PA usa and earlier this was the case.. I just checked again, I have 5g as an option. FYI anyway.
Here Italy, i ordered it from Gemran store hoping to have compatibility with vodafone since vodafone DE has already certification to work with 5G network but still nothing, i tried to flash the RD1A.201105.003.C1, Nov 2020 that is global but no working 5g connection.
I hope in a future update because my sim in OnePlus nord work well in 5g and i get about 400Mb speed that is amazing in italy, with 4g i get 130Mb.
Contacted vodafone support and they said it's a phone problem so I think maybe with december update Google wil resolve (ps in software i have the option to select 5g preferred network but never get attached to 5G where the OnePlus Nord get 5G)
I added root to my device, how can I enable 5g now.. I actually added root just to test 5g
December update still no 5g.
Google recently updated its support page about 5G network compatibility to explicitly state that 5G will work only on carriers that Google enabled it.
At this time, unlisted countries have no selected 5G carrier networks that work with Pixel phones.
