[Q] Can't find updates for android 4.4.4

Hello. My xperia m2 says that there are no updates and the phone is up to date but it's with android 4.4.2. Theres 1 secound delay in the sound when I play games or use downloaded apps like youtube also the audio doesn't sound very good. To fix that I need to update the android version but I cant. I connected the phone to my computer and updated it with sony PC companion but the version is still 4.4.2. What should I do? I don't want to use flashtools or anything. I think it's the phone's fault for that and I should give it back to the place where I bought it so they can fix that. The phone is brand new and they already changed my camera because it wasn't working. So what should I do?
I suppose it has to do with the Country of your phone and/or if it is branded. IF after using PC Companion it's still with 4.4.2 I'm afraid your best (and only) option is to use Flashtool. Not sure how it works if it is branded though, you may need to to something to be able to de-brand it.
Well, actually try first to check if 4.4.4 is available in this way:
- Dial *#*#7378423#*#* (*#*#service#*#*)
- Check the number in Service Info/SW Info/Customization version. You just need the xxxx-yyyy part
- Downdload and install Flashtool (it's small. You just need it for checking)
- Run Flashtool
- Go to Devices/Check Updates
- Select your phone double clicking on the id xxxx-yyyy you have got before.
- If the version is 18.3.C (like the one for 3 UK) there is no 4.4.4. the latest ROM is 4.4.2. It must be 18.3.1.C for 4.4.4
My is branded from T-mobile, and i flashed CE ftf to debrande, everything is good except i don't have extra apps that T-mobile puts in. As i know your safe flashing ftf cos it's official Sony's software, just using Flashtool instead of PC Companion and you won't lose warranty, as long as you don't unlock bootloader.
Good Luck.

Do I install the flashtool on my computer or on my phone?

Obviously on the computer. It's needed to flash the phones from it. Just google it, you find it immediately. Then if you decide to flash a generic 4.4.4 FTF just search around. There are dozens of guides in the Internet.
Alright thanks for your support guys

need a help here please !

i have a moto maxx xt1225 brazilian model , bought it from a trusted Brazilian seller on the net , the phone came with the version 5.0.2 from the box , my phone keeps restart randomly many times a day with a normal terms of use like whatsapp and facebook , no odd applications or heavy games at all . i entered the bootloader and everything seems to be normal but the software status said it is ( modified ) . what i need to do to solve this problem please ? i cant stand this phone anymore and i am considering return it . if i unlocked the bootloader and flashed a custom rom can i return the phone to its stock status again without the seller notice that i changed something in the software ? i saw some pics taken by members here said that the software status is official but the bootloader is unlocked and the status number indicated to 3 .
Someone has certainly "messed" with the phone if it shows modified. I would perform a complete reflash of the 5.0.2 firmware using RSDlite.

now the device is locked and status code refered to zero . . . if i did a complete reflash of the 5.0.2 firmware using RSDlite would this change these facts ? ( device is locked . status code : 0 ).

IF you unlock the bootloader and flash a custom ROM, why would you want to return it? Are you thinking it has defective hardware? And that is causing the random rebooting?
If you re-flash stock 5.0.2 without unlocking the bootloader, it might fix the issue. The status of the booloader will not change. But flashing anything without unlocking the bootloader is a risk. Make sure you have the right image, etc.
i bought this phone as a new unused device from a famous hypermarket here in brazil , and i think finding what is supposed to be a new device with a software modified in bootloader not a thing to be forgiven , so i reported that to procon here , and i am waiting for their respond .
if i do the flash with the locked bootloader , would this change the status code from 0 to 1 ?

No you can flash stock XML rom on a bootloader locked phone, is the stock ROM made by motorola for the phone doesn't need to the bootloader be unlocked, and that doesn't change anything to the bootloader.
But make a factory reset first...
fallow this instructions:
Para restaurar o dispositivo:
That will erase everything on the device and make a fresh install of the OS that is already in the device, so backup any photo file that you not wanna to loose.
Yours problem seems a bad update, did you update the OS after receiving it, there is a small update for 5.0.2 my came with 5.0.2 but not with the last update i did a OTA after receiving it...
If that doesn't help you can try to flash a stock XML ROM... But if you thinking in returning it do not unlock the bootloader, and try to contact motorola in that link that i share, i had a Hardware problem with my moto G and motorola Help, help me...
thanks for your respond ... i dont know how to explain the case well , but having a sealed new bought phone with a software statued to be modified out of the box is somthing uncommon i believe . when i checked for a new software update it says that mine is up to date ... anyway , i reported the case to procon and motorola ... motorola said that they wont sell a device with such state and the problem is for sure from the retailer .

How to actualy archive a nearly stock situation?

Hello,
received the Phone with the t-mobile branding (german version).
What i did is to use the official device unlock from Sony so be able to flash another Firmware.
Then i downloaded the generic DE from the FlashTool, and flashed it.
This failed because the rom was already on Android 7.
I did not manage to aquire the -9090 Rom in Android 6.0.1
So i flashed the central europe version.
First problem: this version does not (yet?) update to Android 7 - and actualy is NOT the version i wanted to have in the end.
Second problem: The camera app did not work anymore (already in use)
So i've read through this forum, and got the information, i need to re-unlock the device.
Did that, camera works.
However now i always get "this device is not trusted"
What i actualy want to have:
- A stock ROM in german, whcih gets OTA updates.
- Working Stock-Apps
- No warning when starting the Phone.
I do not care wether the warning is disabled, or simply not shown because of another bootloader. There should simply be no annoying warning.
I also have the exact same phone twice (mine, and the one for my girlfriend) in case this help somehow. In theory the best situation would be to hard-sync every single byte on the disk (i assume?)
I did not read anything about "do not flash currently, as this will make you loose your drm keys forever and the stock camera will no more work at all". But after watching this forum for some days now, it seems that exactly that has happened? So using a locked bootloader will not work anymore due to lost and unrecoverable drm keys? I cannot copy them from the other phone? So i need to replace the bootloader with another one to get rid of the message? And i also need to reflash the firmware as soon as FlashTool supports Android 7?
In the end a total piece of crap, because of a goddamn branding -.-
What would you guys recommend to do now? Just want to make it work without an error or unsecure warning displayed at every boot.
You did not need to unlock to flash another firmware.
Now you have unlocked you can't use the camera without keeping it unlocked and if it is unlocked you will get the warning message.
Just flash a 6.0 ftf from a region with the update then you will get the ota update
Ps, there are plenty of warnings on the Sony site about drm keys that you must have visited to get your unlock code...
And you cannot copy drm keys from another device

Just bought a Sony XZ with RomAur v4.3

I'm in Vietnam and bought a Sony XZ, Model Number F8332, on Android 7.0, Baseband 8996-8996.genprodQ-00040-19.
Kernal version; 3.18.31-v01, [email protected]@(hastag)1. Build number RomAur v4.3.
My questions are,
1, can I revert it back to it's original software?( are any warrantys affected?)
2, when I connect it to my laptop and sync to sony's Xperia Companion software, it asks to update to new software, can I go ahead and update or will it mess up?
Anything more than some basic instructions would be way over my head.
Thanks for any help.
You can flash Stock Rom with Flashtool. If you search here, you will find more than enough informations
Your warranty is now gone.
Also, unless you have the TA backup from that specific device you will not be able to restore the TA and therefore you will lose functionality of camera and other DRM issues.
The best advice is to stay on the ROM you have or flash other custom ROMs that enable you to use the DRM fix. This is not possible on a stock ROM.
Also, since the bootloader has been unlocked you will not be able to update OTA or use xperia companion software.

Questions About Flashing ROMs

Hi there!
Apologies if there is an existing thread that covers this topic but I was unable to find anything so I decided to create one.
I'm based in Australia and currently using an Xperia XZ F8331 that is branded by my telco, Telstra.
What I would like to know is the following:
1. Where can I find official Sony ROMs? I would like to remove all traces of the Telstra branding, software, etc. and install the same ROM as would ship on the handset if purchased directly from Sony.
2. If there is such a ROM resource available and I successfully flash my handset, will I receive future software updates via OTA notifications as soon as Sony pushes them out into the world or will I still be waiting for my carrier to test and release their own update?
3. Are there any potential downsides from removing all traces of my carrier on my handset?
Essentially, I want my handset to be identical to one purchased directly from Sony with future updates still downloadable automatically and as quickly as Sony releases them.
Many thanks in advance for the help!

1. You can download them in "XperiFirm" software. However, to my experience, it's best to use XperiFirm that's inside Flashtool's latest version. It will only work on latest version (0.9.23.2). You can find it at flashtool's website (here) and then you need to update to latest by replacing x10flasher.jar
2. Short answer: No. In order to flash another ROM you need to unlock your device. It's better to backup your unique DRM keys before unlocking. You will always be able to update your ROM, however OTA will never work again, unless you go back to everything stock.
3. Absolutely not. In fact it's even healthy

Not true for stock ROMs flashed with flashtool. You only need to unlock if you are flashing a custom ROM, or one based on stock that has been modified in some way. Flashtool can only flash completely stock ROMs in flashmode using files downloaded direct from Sony servers that are completely unmodified. Flashtool does NOT require you to unlock the device in order to do this.
Once you have flashed a FTF on flashtool you WILL still receive OTA updates.
