Hello, i did full back up of my apps and their data before installing a new rom... and copied the data to my pc and then after installing the new rom
" Gnabo v4 " i copied the user_apps and app_data folders and i was only able to restore my apps without DATA ( my saved games and other stuff)
So please can anyone help to fix this ? or is there any other app that read the files (.tar.gz ) in app_data and help me restore them or a way ??
Thank you very much
My lenovo a3500 tablet informs me that there is a 4.4.2 update available, but also that it will format the whole device...
Can I backup all my installed apps, data and settings with a single application, and restore them back after the update?

is it telling you that it will format the whole device!! In case yes, then you need backup. otherwise i don't think we lose data with official firmware update. but maybe with major updates, like 4.0.1 to 4.4.2 or likewise....
to backup whole device like firmware/rom etc.... device needs to be rooted and custom recovery installed to restore back to old version/settings. but for only apps backup there are applications with root and without root options. i'm not sure that they take apps data backup too or not. maybe some apps. most make backup of .apk installation file only i think.
sometime after update device lag or anything similar.... then what mostly is recommended first is "factory reset". so that sure delete some data from phone. for that one need to backup apps etc in case needed.... and i believe there are app for backups with root and without roots.
hope, it helped.
Hello to everyone,
In the past years I always rooted my phone to have a complete backup solution on my phones (Titanium Backup).
When I bought my last phone (Galaxy S6) I decided for the first time to try something different without rooting my phone in order to keep my warranty, automatic OTA updates, and other advantages like Samsung Pay.
The decision wasn't too bad because with PlayGames, manual OneDrive sync of some key backup directories trought FolderSync and especially thanks to Carbon Backup which works in fact more or less like Titanium Backup but without root, I keeped all my app's and games data saved...
But now there is a new problem...
Carbon isn't working with Marshmallow and PlayGames doesn't backup data of a significant number of games. The new backup solution of Android 6.0 seems very nice but if I unterstood right it works only with apps (only few are supported now) and not with games which is the biggest problem for me.
Is it possibile that in 2016 we can't get a complete and working backup solution to restore all data of our apps and games on Android?
Thanks,
As you said, this backup feature of MM only works for a small amount of apps because only a few are updated to/support this feature.
What do you mean by carbon isn't working with MM?
Till now there is no way to make a complete backup of every app without root (correct me if I'm wrong).

With Helium Backup (Carbon) on Android Lollipop it is possible to backup app and games data without root.
With Android Marshmallow, after using a System Optimser app, my Notification and Ringtone Folders have been deleted. So this means i cant add my own notifications or ringtones (it just doesnt seem to work).
Is there any way to Restore these Folders without doing a Factory Reset (didnt want to have to restore everything on my phone after that) and without needing to Root the phone and also without being forced to have to use an app like Zedge forever, for new ringtones i want, instead of the Stock Samsung Folders?
Any help would be very welcome. Thanks
Hi !
Without root you can`t push any files into the system .
I can suggest you to flash the stock firmware in order to get you`re system working again if that application that you used can`t restore it by itself
And also , for more help , please provide the device model you have issues
Good luck !

I installed whatsapp 2.11.431 in phone with android 8.1(lg g4) made a backup with helium and adb ... after that reinstalled latest version.. everything ok... continue working and usual.
To clone whatsapp without verification... moved the backup to a phone with android 4.0.4... installed whatsapp 2.11.431 with helium restore the backup... reinstaled latest whatsapp and works really good... both phone with same whatsapp..
Yesterday made same steps in a phone with android 10(samsung a6)... but then of install latest whatsapp .. it requested phone verification.... but the other 2 phones continue working ok..
Made similar test with other whatsapp number in same android 10... backup ... restore in android 4.0.4 and work well...
Any one made similar test? why a backup from android 8.1 dont work in android 10 but yes in 4.0.4...
