Nope, not possible. Unlock bootloader always involves wipe.

I think the best you can do is to hook up phone to PC. Then down load you pictures and messages separately. Create a new file & open phone files and transfer them into the new folder. I use ES file explorer. Seems simple to me. I also do this every few months, just in case phone crashes or something. Then you transfer them back after update. Then each month I download Factory update using flash-all.bat if you using the same version of Google software, you can edit flash-all.bat
and remove the -W flag and you'll keep all you pictures and stuff in internal storage. But the first time you upgrade to P, you must do a factory reset to clean out your system. I'm running dp3 on my Pixel XL and had dp2 before and had just a very few
glitches which went away and 1 appearance.

App data? This has nothing to do with app data. It doesn't wipe any app data, it's just replacing you driver. Have you tried to download the new Google drivers or search the phone for your original Pixel phone app? This is all about getting the correct drivers for your phone.

Did you ask me if there was any way to unlock the bootloader and keep your files and pictures and stuff. The answer is NO
But you can download what you want to keep to your PC or otg drive. I use ES file explorer pro, but the free one will work fine. Make a new folder on c drive and when you open your phone you will see all your files and then copy them over one file at a time. And after you set phone back up, just transfer the files back.

[Q] lg p925 missing LGHome apk

The other day I did one really dumb taboo thing everyone knows not to do. I was messing with my phone at 1:30 am doing stupid unproductive things. and then bam, I deleted LG Home. without this I can't go to the homescreen. I backed the apk up but I don't know where to access this. using root unistaller.
Somehow by going to the factory reset screen I managed to make it possible for me to boot the phone back up, only still there is no home screen. I can use google voice to make calls and send texts and emails. But I have no app folder or settings and I am quite a noob.
could Someone either tell me how to reinstall LG Home or get a rom that works back onto my phone. Any solution would be great.

You can try to flash this through cwm.

well I have the P925g, my brother has the same model. I was thinking I could simply copy the files from his phone into the appropriate folder. Would anyone be able to tell me where I could copy these files from/to? If i could do this I'm sure it would work.

If you're rooted
Sent from my CM7 Thrill
Well I'm not to sure If it is rooted anymore. I erased all my user data, but I did not factory reset. I'll be checking later if i can access those files. But I'll have to access them via USB connection to my computer. My brothers phone where I'll copy the files from is not rooted so I'm not sure if I can copy them from him or not. I'm going to see what more I can do for my phone tommorow. I hate when this happens. The last time I bricked my phone I couldn't even get to the factory reset screen.
Now that I can get to the factory reset screen I don't even see much use in it because the factory reset option doesn't work like I would have expected. If you can even factory reset through that screen is a mystery to me because I could not get it to work. Every time I tried to initiate factory reset it just went back in the menu and no other button seamed to initiate factory reset. I feel like I'm over looking a lot of options here that I just wouldn't think of trying because of my lack of knowledge here.
I'm very dissapointed in myself and in LG right now.
So I,ve found that I already have the lghome.apk backed up on my phone. but as I cannot go to the homescreen or view files and folders on my phone I'm wondering how I will even launch the apk.
I can still use google voice commands to to other tasks like read emails. is there a way I can access my file system or the market through this?
NVM I checked I don't think it's possible. I cannot use the apk to reinstall the apk because I do not have a home screen or any apps that could open this. even my settings aren't working. and clockwork mod only bricked my phone. so i cannot install rom manager and did not.

If you can get into settings, enable USB Debugging Mode.
Then upload LGHome.apk to the forums.
If you could access your emails then you have data connectivity. Why not open market.android.com on your pc log into your google account and install some launcher through it...

need help - how to copy TWRP nandroid backup to device?

how to copy TWRP nandroid backup to device?
I need to restore and I don't know how to copy from my hdd to the phone.
The phone is not booting but I can get to twrp recovery.
Latest TWRP has MTP mode.
but it doesn't allow me to copy one of the backup files which is: data.ext4.win000 and it's 1.5GB
You'll need to give us more information.
Why did it fail? Why did your phone stop booting?
1. flashed bigxie_hammerhead_LRX21O-signed.zip
2. flashed CF-Auto-Root-hammerhead-hammerhead-nexus5
3. booted fine but still had apps like Ti backup & TWRP not working due to root permissions
4. Went to recovery and performed Fix permission.
5. stuck in boot loop

I have had the same problem with my motox 14 the way I found around it was to copy the file to a different fold and use twrp file explore to move it to the back up folder. That has worked for me and a few others try it out it will work.
how can you copy using twrp while in recovery? are you able to access your PC from recovery?

You'll need to factory reset then reflash the ROM
Fix permissions was not required here. You need titanium beta from his twitter feed.
ok i got the phone working and lost my data but I have it backed on PC.
I just see that 10GB is used but when I browse the phone using file explorer, the device is empty.... what??
Is it a known issue?
when the phone is connected to PC I see that 10GB is used but when I i browse the device it shows as empty
No. Do a full flash of userdata.img
Please explain
What would I achieve by flashing it?

Well the answer in the 100 other threads about space say that you must wipe data and cache.
Root should be fine, but as already mentioned, not with official titanium release.
I already did a wipe data and cache. So I don't understand why I still get this but I'll try again.
The Ti Backup link in the twitter feed is no longer valid, but for example, ES file explorer and clean master and also TWRP app are not performing as if they are rooted.
I'll try to re-install CF-Auto-Root-hammerhead-hammerhead-nexus5

ES doesn't work properly, correct. Not all apps have been updated to work with L yet either.
L is much more secure than KK. There are ways to root.
1) chain fire - makes small change in RAMdisk that allows sudaemon to work at boot
2)flash a permissive kernel - this lowers protection within selinux.
More apps work with the 2nd method, but still not all.
New titanium coming to play soon.

Bootloop

Hello,
I've been trying to undo the mcs_heartbeat changes I've applied while my Nexus 5 was on KitKat, but the app Push Notification Fixer is not compatible with Lollipop, so I tried to directly uninstall Google Play services via Titanium Backup, to then have a clean reinstall and convert to system app again. In this last process however, TB seemed to become non responsive while it was converting it to system app, so I decided to force a reboot after 5~ mins.
Now every time it reboots after I see around 2 secs of the lock screen.
Tried to restart into safe mode, same thing. At this point, scared, I decided that I'd be willing to lose all the data if it meant have the phone working again, so I tried a format, but that seems to just not work, after a while it simply reboots normally to the same bootloop. It won't get past "Formatting /data..."
Another problem is that I usually keep USB debugging off because it makes winamp music transfer not work, so I don't have it. I'm really a beginner, so the solution might be simpler than I can imagine, but could anyone please help?
edit: formatting went through, but it clearly didn't solve the problem, as it now keeps rebooting as soon as a glimpse of status and navigation bar are seen (for 0.5s max, on a full black background).
halp, what do why doesn't formatting restore everything to how it should be?
1.Download factory image from google ,
2. download and install fastboot/adb drivers (there's a pack on this forum that only requires 3 clicks)
3. Unzip the factory image archive
4. connect phone to pc , reboot to bootloader ( press and hold volume down and power ) ,
4.a type in a command window , from the folder where u have fastboot.exe "fastboot devices" -quotes . If you get a long string of numbers everything is fine
4.b if your bootloader isn't unlocked , type in a command window
fastboot oem unlock
5. run the flash-all.bat from the folder where you unzipped the archive
6. wait
7. wait some more
8. phone should reboot full stock.
Factory reset doesn't touch your modification , nor does it restore corrupted files. All it does is delete your app storage , settings and cache.
Um, sorry if this sounds annoyingly silly, but if I do factory reset on my Nexus 5, will that delete all of my pictures, PDF document, videos, music, etc2?
I am aware that the app will be wiped clean like how the phone is first received, but I'm not sure if factory reset will also delete all of my stuffs I mentioned above.
I got stuck in boot because I think I have too much app on my phone.

Deleted two OPO Apps and want them back. [Gallery and Download]

This is my first post at XDA.
Recently I rooted my phone. I also installed Titanium Backup. I saw for apps in it and saw two Download and Gallery apps. I deleted one of each thinking of them as a duplicate created by the backing up using the Bacon Root Toolkit (I did everything using this, rooting, restoring, backup, etc.). I deleted the smaller app, thinking it is just a copy without user data (I think that App size (not the apk) increases when we use an app because some data is stored). Now the Gallery and Download app is missing. I think both of them were necessary.
Can you please help me. Should i do factory reset? or something else? or get those apks?
Note that i do not want to clear my internal memory because when restoring the data back by copying the data into the internal storage using Windows and Media transfer mode on OPO, I often get device disconnected or busy errors in between and thus could never actually copy data more than few gigs, also if I copy around 55 GB then if it stops in between, ihave many missing files deep into folders that I can't accept, allover, it's very frustating.
Actually I sent all the data using Shareit app to my phone.
Useful Info:
Device Model: A0001,CyanogenMod version: 12.1-YOG4PAS3JL,Android Version: 5.1.1, Android security patch level: 2015-11-01.

Nope. Just dirty flash it. Backing up is good, but flashing the zip doesn't clear the data.

Your Phone is Locked Because the Payment Service was Uninstalled

If you ever lock Your Samsung because of disabling Samsung Payments or by debloating and You have TWRP installed here is a fix.
Boot to TWRP and using File Manager copy data/system/users/0/package-restrictions.xml to SD and then copy this file to PC to and open in notepad or any text editor.
Remove <pkg name="com.samsung.android.kgclient" ceDataInode="-4294836077" enabled="3" enabledCaller="0/" /> line from the file. It can have different values but package name must be the same. Remove whole line, save file and place it back to data/system/users/0/. I suggest to delete old package-restrictions.xml and package-restrictions.xml.bak before placing back edited file.
That's it, phone should be unlocked now.
Thank you! This saved me from several hours of tweaking this stupid samsung security.
Thank you @Chamelleon! I was about to get in to a full reflash stock, reroot, reinstall situation. Damn, I love xda!
BTW, the thing I did differently was to remove the three lines inclusive of
<disabled-components>
<item name="com.samsung.android.kgclient.receiver.KGAgentReceiver" />
</disabled-components>
...and changed enabled="3" to enabled="1" in this line
<pkg name="com.samsung.android.kgclient" ceDataInode="2643" enabled="1"
Probably not required, but thought I'd mention it.
Galaxy Tab S6
Android 9
Stock-Rooted
i cant find the line even if i search it
I tried attempted to debloat an S8 (running Pie), but I started receiving this message afterwards. There's no “com.samsung.android.kgclient” in the package-restrictions.xml file. Is there any other place this restriction could be enforced?
Found Another Way 2
in my case i copied the file package restrictions but did not found the line or the package in it.
What I Did
1. download the Samsung payment services apk from apkmirror.com
2. installed this app as a system app using lucky patcher.
Note: i guess we can use the adb tool too to install apps as system apps.
3. Nothing just restart and done.
Also this can be overcome in every restart without installing the above app. As you may have noticed device waits some time after the restart before pushing the notification and locking the device. What i found is that if we restart the SystemUI it disables the lock and does not show it up until next restart.
Enjoy and Keep Sharing.
I went in and deleted package-restrictions.xml and the bak file, I can reboot now and get in with the message, I initially uninstalled payment services, I tried flashing a zip of payment services apk couldn't get that going, now I'm getting android set up pop ups and my twrp won't boot to the recovery loader from within the app, and super su has lost all the settings for applications!?¿ rlly don't want to do a clean flash and re root ... bloody system packages arggghf help
Wow, this was easy. Thanks!

Only hard reset can fix Your phone then. If TWRP can't mount data it means that your phone is encrypted and without full wipe you won't be able to unlock it.
Thanks! I just fixed my m51 with this method. I was thinking about restoring full TWRP backup or flashing stock rom as last resort. So glad I found this thread.
I don't know what is wrong with my phone. I disabled the app, and got the message. I did what you suggested and rebooted. but the app re-enabled itself. I tried disabling again and the message came up again. I checked and that line is no longer in my package-restrictions.xml
Luckily for me, just rebooting unlocks my phone, but I think that defeats the purpose....
I kinda want to get rid of that app
adb shell pm enable com.samsung.android.kgclient
will solve the problem

Man, that was a trip to do, but on my unlocked S9+, it worked! I could only see the exact file when I opened the .xml file with wordpad on my Win. 10 to edit it, otherwise it's very hard to spot scrolling in TWRP on the device, particularly since the long package list can freeze up while you scroll down.
I should add, that I used an OTG USB Bridge with a type C connector to paste the copied .xml file to the connected flash drive I mounted in TWRP (just scroll up through the directories for "OTG USB' to find the drive to paste it), then put it on my PC, this made the process go even faster.
But it's better to proactively check what apps can be disabled, removed, or in my case frozen with Titanium Pro, before ever having to deal with such a scare as this!
