A quieter tone or if you are root, lower your levels with viper.

yes, i remember i used viper4android or something similar.
A workaround could be to edit notification sound and decrease volume by 5db , saving to a new sound

You could manually edit build prop, but I couldn't direct you to what line exactly.
Thanks for all the advise! I was hoping it was a OP6 problem because all my sounds are very loud.
I have the same problem with the notification sounds. After the 5.1.6 update they don't seem to be affected by any of the volume controls.
My op6 is not loud. How make you louder?
for me 5.1.7 did not fix it...
All of the sounds are very loud because on 5.1.5 everyone was complaining that the sounds were too low. So OnePlus pushed up the volume. You can go on to the OnePlus Community forums if you want to read all the complaints about how low the sound was
The problem was people complaining it was too low. For me personally, the audio was just fine. never missed a call or any notification at all, anyway...everybody had to complain. So now ONEPLUS boosted up the levels to a point you can hear your phone ringing across the building in minimum level.
Funny thing is: I have to use an app to decrease screen brightness to lower levels than minimum at night, and i have to use another app/kernel to decrease the sound to minimum levels too. lol. I love this phone with all my heart, but i hate having to hack 2 basic settings

Which app do you use to lower the volume?
The problem with the sound will be fixed in a next update
This issue will be fixed in next update, please verify by that time. Any other concerns, please create a new thread for further help.
Thank you and have a nice day.

I too am waiting for someone to answer. There are guys who are using gravity box but it needs Xposed. If there is any other way to show the notification volume other than xposed I am waiting for that.

I installed xposed tomorrow with ringer and notification volume unlink module. Unfortunately didn't find any other options, hope developers will add this basic option to some update. For now it works fine for me.

Okay so there is no other option then xposed
I cannot use xpose because of some reasons so I have to wait for inbuilt feature or should use custom ROM.

I just tried the app and I can't leave notification at 100% and lower the phone ringer volume, they move together when I change one of them. App is a no go unless I'm missing something
Apparently you did not search the settings for the ring and notifications separation toggle

Thank you so much.

I can't get a clear and good sound with my PocketPlayer when WOW is on. It sounds much better with WOW off and SoundBooster (on WinMo) ON. I listen to Rock and Metal music, so it could be because of that. I increased the first 4 bars of low frequencies in my SoundBooster, and I get a lot of good bass and perfect vocal.

I like the following settings:
sur.: 70
center: 50
def.: 10
focus:10
TruBass: 60 at 60 Hz
Setting def. and focus levels to a low value keeps the sound as close as possible to the original recordings (i.m.o.), while adding enough suround and bass to make it sound really good.
Hi All, first post, and new to the HD2 and all things XDA.... but I've loaded this app and when I go to settings, I get the error "there is no WOW HD driver loaded"
Have missed something?
You've done a soft reset before loading the settings ?

These are the settings I use for my headphones when I listen to music. Haven't played with the other settings yet. Do the settings for the internal speaker also work for the speaker of the phone during a call. Would be nice because I have noticed that my HD2 has some "overdrive" problems when someone talks with a normal volume.
For the input and output gain i use the default settings (-1 db for both)

I dont think it changes the audio output for phonecall unless you put them on speakerphone!
I have noticed that WOWHD does improve sound with your settings "slightly" when the phone is on full volume, I normally keep mine at 3 quarters so no noticeable diffrence but thanks for your settings they have been a help
I often listen to music on my Nexus 7 using Spotify.
At the same time I enjoy playing certain games, which inevitably have sound on them.
A lot of the time the sound on the game overpowers my music, and so when I go to turn the volume down, it turns down everything, including my music, so the game still overpowers the music.
When turning down the volume, and pressing the settings button that appears next to the volume bar (that displays the volume of media, notifications, ringer, etc.) it would be useful if the apps currently displaying sound would appear so you can change the volume of individual apps. So I could turn down the volume of my game however leave Spotify at full volume.
(Pretty sure this isn't possible right now?)
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
So what you're saying is you want to change volumes of individual apps, through the Android system.
Bro, my Windows computer can do that, and I don't think my Mac can (correct me if I'm wrong). It can probably be done, but I don't think it would be easy to manage an interface for the volume of every app. When you go into settings-sound-volumes, it currently gives you all the adjustable sounds. Now imagine having a slider for EVERY app. It could amount to hundreds of different sliders!
Anyhow, it's up to the app developers to add a setting for volume of the game. Most do, just look around for it
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium
Basically, I'll explain with screenshots.
So when you change the volume, you click the settings button to the right of it.

Then the screen comes up with all the volume sliders.
In addition to what is already there, the apps CURRENTLY playing sound on the device (for example, temple run and spotify) would also appear and you could drag their individual sliders.

This would take the app developers changing how the volume is controled as well as Android adding the ability in. I really dont see this happening as most developers want everything built into the app so it is compatible with more android versions.

The app developer shouldn't need to do anything, the system should be able to control the volume of each app, as this would be a new Android feature, and doesn't need anything in the apps themselves updated.
Like the Windows Volume Mixer, apps don't need to change anything to work with it, Windows controls them itself.

This is not windows. Linux is a whole another story. The way the OS is made The app developers will need to hook into an options for the system to control the volume. It is a security feature built into linux to prevent apps or the system from interfering.

I found a bug: setting the S-Force Front Surround option in the audio menu, phone does not ring when I receive whatsapp notifications.
I can't believe more people aren't mentioning this. I can barely hear notifications when the phone is in my pocket.
When you select the notification the volume is fine. Surely there's got to be some way of increasing it...
It really is ridiculously quiet.
Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk
I agree too - I'd like separate Notification/Ringtone volume adjustments. I never hear when I get e-mails of messages etc.
Can you better investigate this bug? It's an hw or sw problem?
Every people can confirm this? With all volumes at the highest level , notifications are like at the minimum in every app.
When you choose the sound....it is loud and clear..... then it become very very low...
Which fw have you?
It's the same on the Z2. Really can't see how Sony haven't sorted it yet (that's assuming they think it is a bug). Have tried different firmwares, the only thing that can sort it (on the Z2) is flashing a 3rd party fix which you really shouldn't have to do on a £500 phone!!
So, is there no way to boost up notification volume? I just live with it with vibrat functions, but i not like vibrating...
Guys... please go to Sony support forums and bash it out on them!

Haha, I have gear live which works a treat, but seriously; the volume in general is very loud on full, but notification volume sucks
This worked for me but for right now am i having difficulties repeating the success.
1. Go to settings - sound - system notification sound: select no sound. Do the same with whatsapp settings.
2. Install lightflow. Go to lightflow notification settings, set an mp3 file other than the ones found preinstalled in your phone as individual notification sounds for whatsapp, whatsapp groups, gmail, messages etc.
3. Go to lightflow volume settings, activate individual lightflow notification sounds and adjust their volume to the max ( louder than phone ringing tones ).
I am using "nextel" sound that i downloaded from zedge ages ago. It now plays as loud as in my previoud phone LG G2. I am using it with whatsapp and am very happy.
I did try to replicate this procedure and cut a small piece of a moby song and set it as gmail notification sound. Not as loud as my whatsapp sound. The piece that i cut from the song wasn´t so loud to begin with. I´ll try again with a louder piece of song or a new zedge - tune when i have time.
Nice experiments but I do think we need to get Sony to recognise it as a proper issue. At least it is only software and should be easy to fix...right?
This problem comes from the Z2, if SONY wanted to fix it already would have.
I think we'll have to keep quiet Android L
The notification sound volume from Z2 is better than Z3. Now I rely on the vibration which I not like it.
I have the same problem with my Z3 Ringtones fine but all notifications are ridiculously low.
Can't even hear the "plop" when I send a message in WhatsApp and hear a incoming message notification.
Coming from the HTC Ones I'm very disappointing. On the One I had full control of all sounds, is it like so hard to make a drawer to control sounds the same way? Can't even root the phone to get a solution cause of the damn bootloader.

You just have to use normalized mp3s and there's no problem. Load your mp3s into Audacity or some other (free) sample editor, normalise them (it increases the volume uniformly, peaking at 100% usually), save them, copy them to your phone. Loud!

Hi everyone, my OnePlus7Pro suffers from the lack of an audible warning when charging and when it is removed from the charge when the phone is " on " it has no message or sound when the battery is 100% charged. For this I have created a simple Apk with tasker to install without root permissions on all OnePlus7Pro that solve this lack. It should work even when the screen is off . If you want to try it, you are free to do so. There is a button in the menu to disable the popup service and the sound but the notification is always running to work. The only permission to give is "storage". Tell me if it consumes a lot of battery and is worth keeping it installed. My goal is to "share" this simple solution with some users who know no solutions .. Consider it a test for now.
Updating 14/07/2019 :
Try this new version. I changed the skin of the popup. I added the vibration . I added the button to activate only the acoustic notification without the popup but only when it is charged and removed from the charge.
Updating new version Full 1.0 / Full.57.apk
18/07/2019
This is a much more complete version. The recharge sound is present when the power is turned on and when it comes off. There is popup, sound, I added the LEDs to the screen off. I added the possibility of using the desired profile on 4 different profiles, the possibility of disabling all the LEDs and all the profiles in case you don't want to use anything. Other little things you need to try on the menu. If you don't use the navigation bar it will be seen in full screen. Tell me if everything works, in the other case I will try to fix it.
* 11/08/2019 *
New version: full.68.apk
"most stable version"
Installation :
Give access to memory as usual and "allow change system settings"
Redesigned smaller LEDs, battery icons with percentages (I think it's more tasty to the eye). In PROFILE 4 Every 25% of charge there will be the display of the battery and an acoustic signal "red 25%, Orange 50%, Yellow 75% and Green from 75 to 100% . Now the screen does not turn off when it is added to the AC recharge. The suspension of the screen will increase the duration to allow the application to work well otherwise the LEDs and icons will be disabled, then everything will return to normal as soon as you remove the AC charge. Now there is a button to prevent the LEDs from being seen in the dark if you have enabled automatic brightness. When profile 4 is running you can activate the screen with a touch on the display. On the menu I tried to give as many explanations as possible and excuse my English if it's not good.
I'm glad to hear from you if you liked it and everything works well. As I said before I can solve if you point out the bugs.

Before I start, this is not a app for Poweramp. This is a equalizer value for the app.
Credit for PA-CEQ
@San_X for the Balanced Settings back in 2014 concept linked here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2674303.
JohnRTitor for testing PA-CEQ 3.0.
PA-CEQ or Poweramp Community Equalizer is a community driven equalizer for Poweramp, Poweramp Equalizer (not a app) and other devices which that improves audio fidelity of songs.
I am aware that this has been posted 5 years ago on the XDA forums. I actually used that preset before making PA-CEQ but felt something off about it. PA-CEQ is actually based on the same preset with some changes made to it.
How do you install PA-CEQ?
1. Go to Releases linked on Github and download the latest PA-CEQ.zip file in there. Select the version of PA-CEQ to use, choose either the Normal or Apple DAC option and copy the equalizer prefix to Poweramp/your device.
2. Copy the values within the screenshot to Poweramp or your device or import the equalizer file inside the For Poweramp Equalizer folder to Poweramp Equalizer.
Reserved for any needed added info. Not a bump.
For anyone wanting to compare or find a estimate equalizer to San_X's settings, here is a link to it. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CQmyyIsFs6ax9ba0FMYMqdh4kgziSIdP/view?usp=drivesdk

There is a bass mode option which is based off the old preset by the original dev I think on Github, else I can maybe see it? I normally don't use bass on music myself since I feel it ruins the original punch but at min you can do like 45% Bass manualy?

Did you download the right preset? Alternatively you can go on Github and look at the equalizer screenshots and do the preset from there.

If you select the button that looks like 3 dials that go up and down, you get this

Turn on Tone and then adjust the bass dial to around 45% for the original preset or to your liking.

I can't seem to get the import to work. If you don't mind could you please a screenshot for the entire eq so I can copy it manually
Edit : nevermind. I found the screenshot.

Yeah I should have originally posted the screenshots here with a loaded preset 2nd. I think I might have to update how it plays a bit since some devices have a bit of issues with high low frequencies in BT like cars or Apple's Dongle DAC. I do have a preset set for that one soon though.

Thank you for this. Sound output improves a lot. Also there's a slight difference regarding "Hi-Res Output 16 BIT 48 KHZ" mine say "Hi-Res Output 24 bit 192 khz"? Is it correct or not? Thank you
Edit: The App keeps restarting from time to time removing the imported settings?
PA-CEQ 2.0 Release
PA-CEQ 2.0 is released after months. Decided to test the prefix more and sounds a bit of a improvement to PA-CEQ 1. Looking for feedback on this since this is new and more different from the original.
Now with screenshots instead of .poweramp file in a ZIP container in Github and below. http:///github.com/GanstaKingofSA/PA-CEQ/releases/tag/2.0

Hi-Res bitrate and hertz don't matter but it is suggested for music to stay at 44.1kHz. Sorry for a long response. Been so busy in life. Try just using the preset bars in the screenshots than the .poweramp-settings file or try PA-CEQ 2 for some experimentation
Released PA-CEQ 2.1 now.
I used the 31 band preset to calibrate the standard 10 band preset that normally anyone uses for their devices and is a tad improved on 2.0 with fixed bass/vocals. https://github.com/GanstaKingofSA/PA-CEQ/releases/tag/2.1
PA-CEQ 3.0 is now released with a massive improvement to the dB preset and support for Parametric EQ, includes a Poweramp Equalizer Import File, and less gain aggressiveness as the last few revisions. This also should get rid of audio distortion that was present in the past revisions of PA-CEQ. If you wanna learn more or want to try it out, you may do so by going here: https://github.com/GanstaKingofSA/PA-CEQ/releases/tag/3.0
I highly recommend all using PA-CEQ to try it and those that haven't or have but didn't like the last few to try it out and see for yourself.
