[Q] Incoming call as notification only Phone app after answer - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there, I just can't figure out why, even after installing google phone 20.xx the app does not appear on an incoming call. Instead I get a notification box with decline or answer. I hate the swipe up anyway but I can't find a way to get rid of this notification box on incoming calls. The really bad thing with ATT is that it only rings 3 times. Often that is not enough time to get to the phone to answer it.
Nova Launcher and AOSP AEX 5.5. This started after the 5.5 update. I would also like to replace the system dialer with the google 20.xx apk so if you know how to do that that would be great.

Text message notification

I am hoping someone can tell me what is causing this notification. I get two different notifications every time I get a sms/mms message and I actually have to click clear to remove one of them. the other one goes away when i press it. I need to get rid of the one with the yellow arrow, I am pretty sure it is an app doing this but i cant figure out which one and its driving me crazy heh. Thank you.
Do you have handcent or chomp, etc. You gotta turn off stock notifications if you are using one of those.
do you have another sms app installed? like handcent sms? in the application settings there will be an option to display notifications, or just uninstall it.
there is also a setting in the default sms app that has an option to show or not to show a notification icon, but since it seems like your using the default one you want to keep it on..
I dont think I have any sms apps installed, although I have been sick the past week and playing with my phone while on pain killers so its possible but I dont think so. I want to keep the default sms notification not the other.
edit: I for sure do not have chomp or handcent installed.
never mind guys.. I found out its a side effect of beautiful widgets part 2. uninstalled it and its gone.

[Q] enabling screen to turn on for text notifications

Hello I just received the HTC Sensation yesterday and this phone is amazing. I have one small issue though that I haven't been able to find using search.
I'm currently running Android Revolution 3.0.1 and whenever I receive a text while the screen is off, the notification rings but my screen remains off. I spent an hour already looking through settings and other options on "how to enable the screen to turn on when I receive a text" and I can't seem to find it.
Where/what is the option to enable it? Any help would be appreciated thank you.
Can't do it with the stock sms. Go sms and I think sms popup, maybe others from the market can do this.
Sent from my Leedroidified Htc Sensation.
+1 for SMS Popup
Use Tasker.
I also use SMS Popup, great app. Answer your sms messages right from the pop up. Lots of good settings to fool around with.
try handcent? whatsapp doesn't work too. kinda disappointed.

Do you have non-obtrusive call notifications enabled in GravityBox? That causes incoming calls to only come into the notification drawer if you are in an app.

no never..
any ideas? (already try to clear data etc for dialer and phone , reboot etc..) , i got the nexus 5 for months and just this week the problem started
Honestly, I would restore to stock (https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#hammerheadktu84p) and see if it persists. If it doesn't, install your mods one by one (kernel, xposed, gravity box, etc...) and see when it comes back.

You have to call your voice mail and delete the massage.
You cant turn it off with a setting, might be able to do something if you're rooted (I also find it annoying and never found a solution besides the one I offered you).
Just listen to the voicemail

There may be an issue. Even after deleting the voicemail and rebooting the phone, the voicemail notification remains. I think this was an problem with an older version of android too...
I find out a way to get rid of the constant vm notification. I cleared the data for the phone app. The notification disappeared immediately. I'll have to see what happens after I get another VM.

Is there some way to block the incoming call popup at the top?

The incoming call pop-up thingy is annoying me daily. The buttons are very small, and when I end a call I sometimes click after the other person has ended it so I then start to send a text message (same place button).
I have gone into apps and blocked the popup notifications for all 3 call apps, & the contacts app, and then I went to apps the can appear on top and turned off some stuff there as well, but still the popup stays.
So I would just like to have the normal call screen, at all times. The same one you get when you start a call yourself.
Is there a way, without rooting, to do this?
I've seen the google dialer apk which would probably fix it, but rather have stock dialer if possible.
It's in settings for Messages but not for Phone. Could be different for different Roms.
There is a line in phone preferences xml called "call_popup_preference"
If you're rooted you could try flipping that to false.
