I picked up a G930R4(US Cellular) to use on Total Wireless. When setting up the phone, it says the sim is invalid but it connects and continues the setup fine. I have to enter in the APN manually. After that, It works fine but it gets stuck roaming. I have to toggle airplane mode on/off to call out or receive calls. And sometimes it will get stuck on band 1 with poor reception.
I flashed the latest Verizon firmware thinking that should work because TW is a Verizon MVNO. Got through setup fine but it always roams no matter what network settings are. Cannot edit or add APNs with that firmware.
I tried the U firmware, it wouldn't connect any data. Unable to add any APN with that firmware also.
Any suggestions on what to do to get this working correctly??

Hi,
I am actually on holiday, and for the first few days my nexus s (running masters deodexed 2.3.3 with voodoo kernel) was working fine. However for the last day and half, it has been stuck on Emergency Calls only. I have tried everything to fix it, switching to airplane mode, full reboot, going into settings, wireless and networks and manually selecting a network but it still only remains in Emergency mode only.
I pressed *#*#4636#*#* and under phone information, GSM service says Emergency Calls Only
I have tried switching off and on the radio and fiddling with the preferred network type but nothing seems to work. I dont know if this is a roaming issue (i dont think it is because it was working fine initially abroad) but any help will be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Hi, I am having this same problem too. I have the Nexus S from Koodo and it seems like it doesn't "like" my simcard. I also have a fido simcard on me and the Nexus S works fine on my Fido simcard. Today i went to a Koodo store and tried another one of the simcards and it didn't work either. So far I think my Nexus S is defective. You can PM me your email if you like if you want to see if i fix it.
My father is using Tab2 (P3100). Running Stock OS, Unrooted. 3G Data Connection from Vodafone Delhi India.
since a month or so back he found a update notice and upgraded the Stock Firmware to Latest 4.1.2 using WIFI
Not sure but might be since then, Whenever he's On Roaming, Data Connection Won't work.
Currently He's in U.P. circle it won't connect, Voda has 3G Service here, And I use it everyday at home/city wide.
Tried following:-
1). Checked APN Settings, they are correct.
2). Checked Data Roaming in Mobile Networks.
3). Tried Switching to GSM Only, and WDMA Only, WCDMA/GSM Auto Option, All options same result.
4). Checked wifi is OFF, and Data Connection IS Enabled, using Widgets or APPS but it won't turn on
5). Took out the SIM from Tab2, and Inserted In my Android Phone and 3G/2G Connects Instantly.
6). Put A different SIM which is from my Region but as its not On Roaming, Data Works fine.
7). Checked with operator they have no clue whats wrong in the TAB.
8). Requested Fresh APN Settings from Operator and saved it, But Tab2 won't connect.
Can someone shed some light if this is a BUG in current latest firmware of Tab2 or I am getting and my brain fails to finds a solution.
Any help will be appreciated, don't let me down my fellow members pleaseeeeee
I borrowed the SIM card out of my AT&T 4G/LTE hotspot to see if I could turn my old phone into a hotspot. However, while it does connect to the network, it will only run in HSPA mode. I briefly got it to use LTE for about an hour, but the ROM was still randomly rebooting then, and I lost it on reboot. I did put the SIM back in the hotspot, and it does get 4g/LTE on that device, so it's not the SIM card or the service as near as I can tell.
I did try to use the *#*#4636#*#* menu, but it instantly reverts back to WCDMA preferred if I select anything other than unknown. The same happens if I attempt to switch to LTE in the mobile networks menu. I also tried setting the APN to AT&T Broadband (the APN used by the hotspot) as well as AT&T LTE. I found an older thread related to this, but there didn't seem to be a conclusion.
The only caveat here is that the SIM is only authorized for data, not voice or SMS.
Any ideas?
About a month or so ago, I went on vacation to Asia with my S7. I had it on airplane mode pretty much the whole trip but turned wifi on when available.
Since coming back, my S7 stopped being able to get on to the LTE network. It stays at 4G, which is HSPA speeds on my network. There is discussion about 4G and LTE being the same, but I'm experiencing much slower speeds...5-6Mbps compared to 25-30 when my phone showed LTE.
It's definitely my phone as I put my SIM in another S7 of the same network, and that phone went to LTE. Their SIM in my phone stayed at 4G.
I've tried various APN settings, made sure GSM/HSPA/LTE was selected, reset the network settings, tried some apps that said it would force LTE...but nothing is working.
When the app does force LTE it says I am in Roaming mode. I checked the CSC and it does show my correct network carrier code.
What can I do here?
Have you manually selected and registered with your carrier's network from the network settings?
Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Network Operators > Search Networks
Cleared cache from recovery?
Called your carrier?
Factory reset the phone
I updated to android 13 using odin N986U1UES4HWE1 using XAA and after the update My phoen has been not able to get any data from my carrier. It registers on the network fine it says (mint mobile) at the bottom . it says i have a voicemail. But thats it. I cant connect to the actual network. I cannot change apn or turn on data roaming. calling 611 wont work . *#*#27663368378#*#* in google dialer does absolutely nothing . on wifi my phone will call 611 and connect to my carrier if on wifi phone works fine or seems to. any ideas?
