Tripped Knox, need help to get Google Pay - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hello All,
I've bought a new samsung s7, but tripped the knox while trying to root it, that's part of the process but after I did a factory reset with smart switch, everything was back to normal (except the void warranty of course) but the problem is when I try to install google pay, I get ; "Your device isn 't compatible with this version". More info:
- Root Check, says that my device isn't rooted AND that it passes the safetynet check
- I'm using it in France but the CSC indicates Poland
- I don't mind flashing another ROM or stock for another European country (thinking about getting the one from Germany as it is on Oreo already).
Can you please help me solve this and get google pay?
Thanks a lot!

I do not see France on the country list for Google pay, my S7 is rooted with magisk, and I do have Google pay working fine with my bank in the UK, check first if your bank is registered with Google pay before, do not know if the CSC could be important

Thanks a lot for your answer, actually I wanted to use it cause I'm currently on a business trip in the UK, the problem is that I cannot even install it from the play store which is weird.
By the way, if you have the procedure you followed to get root worth magisk, I'm very interested. Again thanks for your help

Clarification on flashing original firmware

I have a galaxy s6 bought from malaysia and it was region locked. I initially thought it will be easy to unlock but I couldnt unlock it so I took it to local mobile service center. There they unlocked the phone. I dont know how they unlocked it but I think he used some box like octoplus. When I recieved the phone from him it was rooted and the knox counter was tripped.
I know I have voided the warranty but thats fine. Now I dont recieve any updates from Samsung. I want to flash the original samsung firmware back and I have the following clarification before doing it by myself.
1. If I flash the original samsung firmware using smart switch or odin will the phone be unrooted and will I start receiving updates
2. Currently in my smart manager-> device security it says security threat found and I get the notification "unauthorized action detected restart your device to undo any unauthorized changes". Will this error message go off and will the device threat go off.
3. Will installing My knox cause any problem or I should avoid installing it ?
4. Currently "In find my mobile" remote controls is not getting enabled. Will the find my mobile feature start working after flashing the official firmware.
Thanks in advance

if you have tripped knox to 1 then the warranty is voided. you can't unvoid it. furthermore, malaysian SGS6 are G920F, which is supposed to be international unlocked versions. where did you buy this in malaysia? i hope it's not low yat or some shady place.
Yes its G920F. All Samsung galaxy phones are region locked irrespective of where its bought. I dint buy in low yat. But I just curious why you are skeptical about low yat ?. Is low yat not a good place to buy ?
I know I have voided the warranty but I want to know the answer to the above questions

you should try installing the official firmware through smart switch first. then slowly work on the rest. use emergency firmware initilization.
2. i'm not sure.
low yat can sell you at a cheap price, but i have had friends who had been conned of several things there before.
I am sure many would have tripped Knox and flashed stock firmware and you must be having answers to my clarification. Can anyone help me by answering my questions

bro, i suggest you try installing Smart Switch on your PC, then click more at the top right hand corner, click emergency firmware initialization > Device initialization > Key in SM-G920F > key in your Serial number > click okay (make sure to back up first) then install the latest firmware. That should unroot your phone. The rest of the questions you asked, may be fixed after you unroot your phone
Ok. Thanks zincsnow. I will try it.

This is India, you cannot do much. Any how I cannot use samsung Malaysia warranty here. I will not be using samsung pay here. My only concerns is getting OTA updates from samsung and find my mobile to work, because I have a previous experience of losing my phone.
zincsnow have you tripped the knox. if yes and if you are on stock firmware back. What does the device security under smart manager say ?

alright then. i have tripped knox but i haven't gone back to stock.
Bro, please follow this link to unroot your galaxy S6 and bring it back to stock.
you'll be able to update your device normally after that.
I have updated my device using smart switch now everything works fine. I didn't try installing my Knox because I don't need 2 environments one for work and personal. Thanks all especially zincsnow
I was surprised about one thing. I was expecting that once the installation is completed my phone will be in a new state but it had all my datas and settings intact nothing was changed, not sure if restore had run.

No Android Pay?

I didn't see anything with a search, so maybe this is just an issue on my phone. I bought a XT1225 that was previsouly rooted and has the Brazil soak test on it to M6.0.1. The phone does not appear to be rooted anylonger, at least according to a root checker app. When Trying to set up a credit card for Android Pay, I get an error saying "Google is unable to verify that your device or the software running on it is Android compatible."
Any clue how to get Pay to work?

Try flashing the released version of factory Marshmallow.
Just FYI: if you want Android Pay, you can't have root nor xposed modules. For me, it's not worth it. Easier for me to just take out a debit/credit card.

[Guide]Use Samsung Pay and Knox on your Rooted device

WARNING THIS IS A WIP AND SO FAR NO ONE HAS CONFIRMED THIS WORKING
Samsung pay and Knox is working after Rooting.
How is this possible?
well,
The loophole here is both Samsung pay and Knox apps check the kernel for knox status.
Developer of the Superman ROM and Superstock kernel @Tkkg1994 has modified his kernel to show knox status as 0x0 to Samsung Pay and Knox apps.
Steps to use Samsung Pay and Knox in your phone
Method 1:
1. Flash the latest Nougat BL, CP and CSC of your home country with odin.(only if ur country has samsung pay working. If not use files from the spay countries)
2. Flash TWRP
3. Download version 2.0 of Superman ROM. (Its not working in newer version I dont know why )
4. In aroma choose the included (ii) Superstock Kernel (ii)Samsung Pay (iii) Root with SuperSu.
(keep settings as close to stock as possible)
5. Install CSC of your country (The csc of a country which has samsung pay in it. Use korean CSC if just want to test)
6. Reboot. It takes time for setting up wait for 5-7 mins
7. Download the Latest version of samsung pay app and install it. (Download it now itself from playstore and save it somewhere)
8. Open Spay give it internet access. Sign in to ur samsung account from here and setup the app at same time.
(Some users are getting error connecting to server try again later message. So login to ur samsung account from the app. That way it wont show you error message)
9. Add your Card and make a purchase
Note: For this to work the bl,cp,csc must be of official spay released countries.. If you have installed only bl and csc or only csc it might not work..
So spoof ur existence properly into the country Make the app believe that you are from Korea/spain/US or any other spay country
Method 2:
This is from another user who got both Samsung Pay and Knox to work @NilayNoob
0. Install Stock Nougat rom (Use the firmware from a country where samsung pay is working)
1. Install TWRP.
3. Install latest superstock kernel. That's a must.
4. Root with supersu
5. Reboot
6. Install Samsung pay and my knox to get them working
Check out the screenshots.
Cheers.

Yeah it doesnt.. but samsung pay works for sure.
Its just a finding. There arent any threads of samsung pay working on a rooted device.
So I just made one thats all.
It works. Believe me.. u need more screenshots of the proof?? I can give as much data as u want until u people are satisfied coz its working
Which kernel do you use with superman ROM? If it didn't work with magisk than how did you root?

Sorry man that I cant do I am from India. And its not released here yet. I flashed korean csc along with the ROM to test this. So Im afraid someone from the samsung pay working countries have to confirm the actual purchase and provide u the receipt..
But I can confirm that you can add the card into the app successfully.. all the aspects of the app are working flawlessly. Whatever I click gets opened..
If the app wasnt working it wouldnt have even go past the setup page as it successfully did in the other custom Roms that I tried. Displaying the message "Your device has been modified in an unauthorised way. Please call our customer care service"
This is interesting. Can anyone else confirm?
Well I confirm that the app successfully does everything in my knox flagged rooted phone running superman v2.0 Rom.
Changing csc doesnt affect the functionality of the app. In few months samsung pay is gonna be released in India, so they pushed samsung pay app officially along with the nougat firmware. Opening it says that they will be releasing it soon..
Flashed many roms and other roms doesnt even open/load the app
All Im saying is that, "The app in that particular ROM doesnt bother checking your knox status" and works flawlessly. I dont know what kind of tweaks made this change to the system and the app. The developers only has the idea to get to end of it. I am just a flash junkie.
Im happy that It works in my phone and can successfully use it when samsung pay is released in my country
Its up to u guys to believe me or not.
I gave u the proof. If u are tempted give it a try.
If u are not ignore it.
Anyway I got what I wanted from this Rom.
Cheers everyone..
I have my university exams in 14hrs. let me go and prepare till then
I used Samsung Pay in India to pay for almost everything. But the thing is you wont be able to register your Indian Bank's Credit card on Samsung Pay. If you have access to any US based credit card then give it a try. It's fun to look at the faces of clueless merchants trying to figure out how I paid with a mobile device. Btw nice find I might try to root now but need more confirmation of it working in stores/while paying.
EDIT: wait you said you can add a card, then just try to pay with it coz it will work on any credit card machines out there (even the some of the smaller ones).

Try samsung pay when your country has s pay released

Flashing Stock Android ROM from another country

I purchased my SM-A520F from UAE. I am currently using the phone in India.
All Samsung Mobiles sold in UAE have VOLTE disabled by default, and hence my phone do not have it. However, majority of the 4G carriers in India use VOLTE and this causes problems that are not minor.
Rooting the phone will probably void warranty. I was told that I can flash stock firmware for this device released for India without having to root.
1. Will this void warranty? I contacted customer support of Samsung UAE and they told me it would. But I dont believe them since sources on the internet say otherwise and I won't be rooting the phone.
2. If I were to go ahead with this, where can I get the official firmware? Is there any option to download this from Samsung website?
3. What is knox counter? Will I be able to do this without "tripping" knox?
4. Once I download and install stock firmware from a different country from a website like Sammobile.com can I still receive OTA updates?
5. After flashing a firmware downloaded from a third party website, how safely can I use applications that use sensitive data like S Pay and mobile banking applications?
Thanks a ton in advance.

1. If knox trips, warranty is lost
2. Try to Google... you can use sites like galaxyrom or Sammobile
3. Knox is a protection thingy made by samsung.... it controls and looks in all of your system... this isn't bad and keeps the phone stable by protecting the kernel... the knox counter can be found when entered odin/download mode... here you can see something like: knox warranty void 0x0 or 0x1... 0x0 means it hasnt/didn't trip yet, 0x1 means you're pretty much F'ed
4. I don't think you can receive ota updates when you have a rooted system and a custom recovery... and I don't know if u can download it from another country... sorry
5. It's safe... if it is official firmware then there are no worries ?
Hope this helps... ?

There is a LSposed module supposedly for knox features, never tried it though.
I haven't tried it yet, either. https://github.com/BlackMesa123/KnoxPatch
No matter what, of course (for the OP), Knox will be permanently tripped, and there's no way to untrip it.
So, the KNOX status is stored in an "efuse" (electronic fuse), once tripped it cannot be reset, the only way to "fix it" is to replace the entire motherboard, not worth the cost.
You can of course put back a native/oficial firmware, most things will work, but anything that is using the KNOX flag will fail.
From what i remember this are a few of the things that will not work anymore :
- samsung health
- samsung payment
- secure folder
- possibly the dual account support (work/personal) won't work, never used it so not sure
If you don't use those then it's not an issue to have the flag.
You can also use an xpose/lsposed module to hide the knox status, but there's no guarantee that it works or that a firmware update won't make that module fail in the future.
Also, i had a banking app (from a romanian bank) that didn't work with tripped knox, but they did give an update that fixed it so as long as the phone was not rooted the bank app worked without issues (this was about 5-6 years ago on a Note 3)
If you really need to use an app that checks the Knox status, the easisest/cheapest would be to get a second hand phone (with the flag still intact) and sell this one, you'll loose some money but it will be cheaper than replacing the entire motherboard
