How can I tap "YES" to accept the license agreement, when there is no "YES"? - MX Player

How can I tap "YES" to accept the license agreement, when there is no "YES"?
I upgraded my MX Player Pro to the new version just now, and a license agreement page comes up saying I must tap "YES". but there is not a YES anywhere to tap. How can I get past this?

Thanks but I only see the top half of that screen on my MTCE GS (Xtron) car head unit, running Android 8.0. There is no way to scroll down to see that button.

Do you have access to the accessibility options in your device settings
You can try changing the default font size to tiny (or the smallest) - run the app & see if the button is visible then once pressed change your device settings back

Thanks for sharing the screenshot. it seems to be a layout issue on landscape orientation. We will fix it in the next release.

I went into the Android Settings > Display > Font Size and selected the smallest font, but when I ran MX Player again the screen appeared identical as in my previous screenshot. It seems it's not using the smaller font I selected.

As a work around you can try this apk
It allows you to force set the screen orientation
You can try setting it to portrait (or other options)

It sounded like a great idea, but unfortunately setting it to Portrait or Landsape modes had no effect. The (GS) Xtrons head unit appears to be hardcoded for Landscape mode only.

Oh well can't think of anything else
You will have to revert to a previous version & wait for them to fix the layout

I have exactly the same issue after updating the paid app, Xtrons TD699A cannot change out of landscape mode so I cannot see the button to accept.
Trying to revert to a previous version until a fix is forthcoming

Where can I find the previous version 1.9.22 or even version 1.9.21?
The latest previous version I could find was version 1.9.19 which has an annoying bug in which the audio will intermittently cut out for a second. This appears to happen every few minutes.

I found version 1.9.23 which doesn't have the "tap YES" screen, but that annoying 1-second audio loss issue is also present in this version. I thought it might be a codec issue so I tried the "MX Player Codec (ARMv7 NEON)", but the only two versions I could find were 1.9.20 and 1.9.19 and both these versions want me to tap the invisible YES so I can't run them either.

All versions of mx player can be downloaded from here

Custom codec depends on app version and can be found here - add at the bottom of the decoder section in the app menu

After several weeks, and Google Play did an automated update to version 1.9.24 again so I was back to the broken "Tap YES to agree" screen.
This time I went back to an even earlier version of MX Player Pro 1.9.19 which had the added benefit of no longer cutting out the audio for a split second when playing local MP4 files. With version 1.9.23 this issue was occurring once or twice every minute.

Hi,
Probably there might be some other settings which might have caused the audio issue. There weren't many changes on the playback engine. The most recent changes are to comply with the GDPR & other some minimal changes to prevent some crashes.

There was an "app settings" mod made quite some time ago that allowed you to change resolution settings for each app you have installed. I cant remember the name of it. Thats what Im going to try... once i remember the name of it! lol

Flip4Silence 2.0 BETA
Silence notifications when your phone is flipped - battery friendly!
Flip4Silence is back! It's just an BETA version but it already serves its purpose: Silence notifications when the phone lays upside down on the table! And the best thing about this, it doesn't eat up your battery (like other tools do)!
I just finished the BETA and I'm currently testing it. But as I think it could be useful to someone in this state I just made it public. Please be so kind and keep in mind that this is not the final and probably will not act as reliable as it should. I will do my best to fix any bugs which are found, so please report your problems back.
If you are a ROM chief or have a custom ROM installed:
I have planned to migrate this tool to a "one for all" tone silencer. Unfortunately this requires a patch (which is attached to this post) to allow the user to set the tones as the system defaults. The patch is also posted on the AOSP gerrit and may be accepted (don't know if they like the patch) and I will try to integrate it into CM9.
If you are a ROM chief and would like to integrate the patch and the (upcoming) tool feel free to contact me via pm.
If you are a user of a custom ROM feel free to encourage your ROM chief to integrate the patch.
Feel free to contact me if you have integrated the patch somewhere, especially if it's a ROM for the Galaxy Nexus or Nexus One as I would like to use it on my own phones
Attention:
If you had a previous version installed I'm very sorry to tell you that you have to REASSIGN every single ringtone you have selected with F4S Ultimate before again due to a internal incompatible change!
What it gives you:
Silence nearly every notification!
Is planned to be a full replacement for every ringtone picker (please tell me what you want from your ringtone picker)
It's nice to your battery as it's only active when something happens and not all the time.
More control over the sensitivity used (no more "low", "high", "normal", you are in charge now!).
MP3 ringtones are now supported! The UI is not really finished, it's at least planned to add the album covers to the list.
"Silence when user is present" - never get a notification sound again when you are playing with your device and don't need a audio notification.
What it can't do:
You can't use it to put silenced ringtones into the default settings. Please never ever put a silenced ringtone into your phone ringer or the default notification sound. It will just not work (and will never), trust me. However, you can put in a "unsilenced" ringtone (more later).
Currently the sensors will report strange results if you have vibration on while a ringtone is played. It lacks a good filtering, so it's not really usable currently.
How to use it?
It has currently no settings dialog at all, it is just a alternative to pick a ringtone. When you select somewhere a "Choose a ringtone now" button it will be an option which you can launch.
When you select your tones with the tool it will more or less look like the standard ringtone picker with some exceptions. On the bottom you will see a list with all ringtones you may pick from. When you select them, they will be played as a preview to you (just like the stock ringtone picker does). When you have found your ringtone just hit the tick button at the top bar and you are done. It will now silence this (and only this) notification when the phone lays on its display. When you want to discard your selection just hit the cross on the top, the back button of your phone or the home button, it's your choice.
The really interesting thing is the speaker icon at the top bar. It works the following way:
When you see the muted speaker (speaker with X) the ringtone will be silenced when you hit the tick button (sure, it will only be muted when the phone lays upside down). But sometimes you want a sound so be played everytime and not only when the phone lays with its back on the table. Then you can press the speaker at the top and it will switch over to a unmuted speaker. When you now hit the tick the selected tone will never be muted by the tool.
You can now start over and replace every notification sound with a one selected via this tool. Just pick a tone and hit the tick at the bar and you are done.
I'm currently using gingerbread and was able to replace the tones in the following applications:
Stock SMS/MMS
gTalk
Google+
Facebook
Flip4Silence
How does this sensitivity slider work?
It allows you to set the exact degree when Flip4Silence should recognize the phone as "lays on its screen". The range is from 0 (lays exactly on its screen) to 90 degree (stands on its bottom).
You can change the value with the slider or with the plus and minus button to a value which should fit your need (it lacks a testing mode, sorry :/).
The green part of the slice on the left is a visualization of the "snap area" where Flip4Silence will recognize the phone should be silent. You can transfer it to the real world when you put your phone with its bottom on the table which would be 90 degree. When you now tilt it slowly down to it's screen it would be 0. So you have actually moved it on 90 degrees of a circle which is what the image tried to tell you.
The settings are now this way because people reported that LOW and HIGH weren't enough to trigger it the way they wanted it. The dialog still lacks a "choose from presets" option but this will hopefully be added in the future.
As a hint here are the settings known from F4S 1.0 (which will suit the most people)
High: 20 degree
Normal: 25 degree
Low: 30 degree
So you say it's now save to use it to pick global ringtones?
Yes, in general it is. The picker maintains now a blacklist for Activities which aren't able to handle the special ringtones we return. This blacklist currently only has the stock settings blacklisted so it should work for most devices. But HTC/Motorola/Samsung may have changed ROMs in a way that they also changed the identifier for the SystemSettings. In this cases the blacklist will not work until I have added them
So as it's more or less save, here is the warning again:
Please note the fact that you should never ever use a "silenced" ringtone for the ringer or the default notification sound. The new BETA tries to prevent you from doing so (the little speaker on the top is not drawn) but it may fail! If you see a speaker in your Default Notification/Ringtone picker than please hit the "Report usage" button in Flip4Silence ultimate so I can add it to the blacklist.
What does this "Report usage" button do again?
As stated above it will send a report to me about the places where you have used Flip4Silence Ultimate to select a ringtone. Please only send the manual report if you have found out that your System Settings is not blocked from setting a silenced ringtone (as described above). Please also leave a short note here that you have send a report. Reports contain the same data as crashreports, so nothing is really special about them.
"Silence when user is present" does what?
Did it ever annoyed you to hear notifications when you got your device in your hand? Did you ever thought "Damn, shut up! I have seen the notification, no need to play a sound...".
If yes, then I have a solution for you: "Silence when user is present" does simply what is says, it blocks the notification sound when you are currently fiddling with your device and don't need another acoustic notification about a new message or anything else.
Of course it only works with sound which were set with this app and currently the switch is on a global base (will likely change in an upcoming version).
Okay, sounds good so far, where can I get it?
I will attach the newest version and the previous one to this post whenever an update occures. You can also download it on the Android Market
Why is this nifty app not translated into [INSERT LANGUAGE HERE]?
I will contribute at least a German translation once the strings in the program have settled down (one or two releases before the first stable will be released). If your favorite language is missing and you are willing to translate it by yourself please contact me and I will hand the localization files when the app has reached the pre stable state.
The icons used are nice, but the application icon is damn ugly dude!
Yea, I know. I had to make some of my own when I developed Flip4Silence so the quality is far from good. While I like the overall theme (the phone and the sleep indication) it's not really pretty as I'm more the coding guy than a designer. If you are a designer or know someone who would like to make some icons for this app it would be awesome if you would contact me. I can't provide any money for this as it's only a fun project but it would be worth a credits entry and publicity (it depends, but I expect a broad usage around the globe, just like the original Flip4Silence ).
Uh, who has done this cute icons you are using?
The icons used in the main view of the ringtone picker are from AndroidIcons.com. Thanks guys for this great set of free icons!

Flip4Silence classic doesn't work correctly on ICS? Didn't knew that, sure I will try to fix this in this rewrite (the old app will not receive any update, everything will be reimplemented).
I will give it a try when I move the old code to the new codebase but I can't promise anything as I don't know whats broken and so don't know how it may be fixed.
But thanks for the report =)
OMG!
Just installed older version from market. I know why it wasn't working..."Keep vibrating" was still enabled.
Sorry...my fault.

I just release BETA3. As nobody reads the main post again, please note the following:
You generally don't have to take special care about the System Settings default sound picker as it's now blacklisted as it not supports F4S Ultimate. Consult the main post for more info about this. But If the little speaker at the top is shown for you in the default settings please hit the "Report usage" button and send me some info about your phone (again, more info is hidden in the main post ).
If you had a previous version installed I'm very sorry to tell you that you have to REASSIGN every single ringtone you have selected with F4S Ultimate before again due to a internal incompatible change!
Also I would like to say "Thank you!" to everybody who is currently testing/using this! I have not thought that so many people would try it! Thank you very much!

It has the beta sign because it's rather untested and it's a very fragile kind of app as it operates at the border (or some steps beyond) of the android system.
I does things which were never intended by the developers, also I'm developing this thing alone. The beta sign will be removed when it's proven that it operates on virtually any phone from android 1.6 to 4.0 and includes all the features the original Flip4Silence has.
Currently everything is working as intended besides a bug I have just found (which is documented in the second post). A "stable" (I only release software which is at least usable for me) without the beta sign will come when I have done all the work. I can't tell you a date as this is not my job but I will do my best to release as often as I can.
BETA4 is out now!
BETA4 is out now!
It introduces a new feature: "Silence when user is present", please take a look at the first and second post for the changes in detail.
Besides that I had to wipe the caller database once again as the format changed again, so you have to reassign anything again (should be the last time, the format should be stable now...).
A sidenote:
I have not received any crash so far and it seems to work pretty good so I consider it now "stable enough for everyday use".

It's a ringtonepicker replacement, to use the app you have to reassign the notification tones of the apps you want to be silenced on a flip. Your system will present you a list of apps which are suitable for ringtone picking, just select Flip4Silence there.
"Silence when user is present" - never get a notification sound again when you are playing with your device and don't need a audio notification.
Man I have been looking for this feature since day 1 of owning a Android Phone! I'll help you test the app!

Crappy video I made showing how I made it crash: http://youtu.be/R_4v-AKSjM4 (done in about half an hour)
I also provided a logcat with warnings, errors and fatal exceptions. Don't worry about the rmt_storage lines though, that has something to do with the beta ROM I'm using.

Now that's cool, I have never seen a bug report video before . It should be easy to fix this, but I have one question:
How many MP3s do you have on your device (I don't need an exact number, just a rough estimation, something like "60 albums" or something like that)?
13 normal albums, 1 album of Super Smash Bros (which has about 200+ songs ) and one "album" I made myself for my ringtones.

[Q] Tilt sensor is off for some apps, possible fix?

Before my Asus tf700 Infinity, I owned a Samsung Galaxy Tab. I purchased some programs and games for it, and all was well until it was stolen. The problem? Now I've downloaded and used those same apps on my tf700 Infinity, and the orientation is off by ninety degrees on quite a few. It has to do with Android's API and Honeycomb, and how the default base orientation is set in the framework policy. Before tablets, the default orientation for the Android API was portrait, but tablets made landscape defaults a possible better default. Apps not written to accommodate this would have the sensors read 90 degrees skewed for landscape default devices (like my tf700), because the sensor data is being read from landscape (regardless of orientation), but interpreted as portrait by the app. Even though my Galaxy Tab was a tablet, it's default orientation was portrait, so there was no 90 degre skew. I have read enough to know that it's possible to change the Android system default value, but it has to be changed in the framework . . . No easy task, especially if the rom is ODEXed.
So . . . anyone have any advice or fix so my paid apps aren't wasted money? I don't think emailing every single developer is the key, when I could modify a single system value to fix the problem for all apps. Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated.
Doesnt ever gyro-based app/game have a recalibration setting? Have you tried that?

You could try Ultimate Rotation Control. It can have an individual setting for each application (Forced Portrait/Forced Landscape/Forced Auto).

The problem is that the data the app is getting is from the sensors is rotated 90 degrees. For example, if the app assumes the tilt data it is getting is from the left and right: tilt left, go left. On my tablet, it's default boot state is landscape, so if the app is asking for the sensor info the wrong way (a deprecated way - from before the Honeycomb API), it's getting the tilt axis from the top and bottom, so: tilt up, go left. I can calibrate, but I still have to tilt up to go left.
Sounds like badly programmed apps to me. Have you tried asking the devs to update based on the correct APIs?

I had hoped it would override the default framework, but apps were still polling the sensors wrong no matter which orientation they were displayed in. The sensor data was rotating the same amount as the app, but the original sensor data was still originally off by 90%.
Thanks for the tip; Ultimate Rotation Control is a good app that solved another issue I had, just not this one.

Yes, that's the consensus. Some I've asked, others are no longer in active development (nostalgia for holding onto these apps). I stumbled upon a web hit while googling for answers, the solution was about changing a simple setting in the android framework, but I'm a not experienced with ADB, and things like ODEXing and DeODEXing are nerve-wracking while I learn and experiment.
Also, thanks for coming sbdags. Running Xenogenesis since late April, fantastic job! :good:

Navigate to the androidpolicy\com\android\internal\policy\impl folder and open PhoneWindowManager.smali in your favorite text editor (Notepad++ is my favorite)
Search for the method "rotationfororientation"
(Picture of code here)
Make note of the variables (v#) for portrait and landscape (in my case portrait is v5)
Scroll to the end of the method and you should find something like:
"move v2, v5" (make sure it's the last move command before the end of the method)
Change the second variable (in this case v5) to whatever orientation you wish to be default. In my case I have set portrait as the default orientation.

There are other steps, but this is the only variable changed. I can't post links yet, and I didn't want to copy all of the text there, but that's it. The attached picture is the picture of the code.

Dear friends,
As I was also facing the same problem in my Ubislate 7C+(EDGE) tab by DATAWIND. While reading your post an idea struck to my mind. With the help of Root Browser app I navigated to /system/build.prop, opened it in text editor and in "ADDITIONAL_BUILD_PROPERTIES" changed the value of "ro.sf.hwrotation=270" 270 to 180 saved it and rebooted the tablet. Yes! the problem was solved but it created a new problem that the orientation of animation while boot and camera orientation has changed now but in order to rectify it I pulled bootanimation.zip to my computer and after unzipping it changed the orientation of animation files from portrait to landscape. Changed the orientation in 'desc.txt' from 480 800 to 800 400 and zipped both without any compression. Pushed it back to /system/media and changed the permission, user, group to original one with the help of root browser. Then for camera orientation with the help of root browser I navigated to /system/etc/camera.cfg opened it in RB text editor and changed camera orientation from 90 to 0, saved it and rebooted my tablet and now all the games using gsensor tilt are working fine.
Thanks,:good:

[Feature Request] Interface doesn't auto-hide when playback paused

Hi, I'm using MX Player v1.8.10 on android 5.1.1 and would like to report what I believe to be a bug.
In Settings > Player > Controls, I have set "Touch action" to "Show interface + pause/resume".
Also I have set "Interface auto hide" to 1.0 sec.
When I play a movie and touch the screen once, it pauses the movie, but the problem is that in this case the Interface does NOT hide after 1.0sec. In fact, interface will never hide until I touch the screen again to resume playback.
This is annoying as sometimes I would like to pause a movie and see that still frame without anything else on screen (hide interface).
If this is a bug, I hope it can be corrected.
If this is by design, I would like to request a feature to enforce that navigation is hidden after 1.0sec like chosen in the setting.
Thanks for your support.
Looks intentional -- interface does not hide in any circumstance where the video is paused, presumably as pausing means you want to interact with the controls in most cases. This would be a feature request to apply the time-out also to when the video is paused.
Thanks for your support CDB-Man, and for adding it to the feature request list. I look forward to it ^^
Hi CDB-Man, is there any hope to implement this (very small) feature in a timely fashion? ^^;
After waiting a year and a 1/2, any hope to get an update for this?

Hi,
Sorry for the long wait. We have already noted down this. But, not on the priority list. Here is the quick workaround with existing settings.
Method 1:
Set the touch action to Pause/Resume. No interface will be shown on touch. You can get the interface by tapping the pause icon on the top left.
Method 2:
Set the touch action to show/hide interface & enable the double tap gesture. You can pause by just double tapping. If you want to hide the interface tap once.
Thirumalai.K, your reply is much appreciated.
Wise workarounds, that seem to work well!
Using method2 for now so as not to have the pause icon, even if it's small.
I still think having "Show interface + pause/resume" AND respecting the "Interface auto hide" disappear after set time (1.0 sec here) would be ideal so I really hope for a bugfix eventually ^^;
Thanks for your support.
Thirumalai, would you know if there's an update on this front?
Bump in the wind...
Mx Player team, any feedback on this request after so long?

We would like to confirm that your request has been shared with our relevant team and in our roadmap. However, we will not be able to provide any ETA as our team currently working on the high priority the features that are more useful for the most.
A little bump..
MXPlayer, still very interested in a proper fix for this bug.
In a nutshell, again, I just wish for MXPlayer to respect the "Interface auto hide" setting when set to 1.0 sec.
In Settings > Player > Controls, I have set "Touch action" to "Show interface + pause/resume".
But when I play a movie and touch the screen once, it pauses the movie, but the problem is that in this case the Interface does NOT hide after 1.0sec.
Please fix this small bug. I know it's clearly not high priority but I've been waiting for more than 3 years now..
Thank you for your support.

We are sorry to keep you waiting. We would first like to clarify that MX Player doesn't hide the interface automatically intentionally on the paused state since it will require an additional tap to resume for most other users. So, this request is not prioritized. However, we will revisit this again based on the user demands and work on it again in future if found viable. Meanwhile, request you to use one of the workarounds suggested earlier.
Thank You!

[Bug] [Feature request] Miscellaneous things

A collection of miscellaneous things about MX Player.
[Feature request] "Background Play" icon
Is there still a need to display the icon when it does nothing?.. especially when both these options are set...
Update:
The problem is mitigated as the "Quick Shortcuts" is fully customizable now.
[Feature request] The retractable icon list
This retractable icon list can be quickly expanded by tapping the icon, while there's no way to retract it in a similar way...
Consider adding an icon for such control?..
[Bug] Frozen notification gadget
When background playing, paused using the gadget control, then tap the gadget to enter the player interface.
The gadget will be frozen. (inactive, not functional, desynchronized with the playback)
[INVALID] [Bug] Incomplete notification gadget
With "Forward/backward moving button" set, the notification gadget doesn't seem to be influenced... (effective only for the player interface)
Update:
Essentially an OS issue... (forced Notifications auto collapse)
Is there any way (as a user) to force all notifications to be expandable? - Android Enthusiasts Stack Exchange
I wonder why the OS would be designed so as to make notification expandability an app level feature rather than a user level feature? Old apps might not be designed with this in mind, or they might be designed for a version of Android that didn't support expanded notifications - how hard would it be to allot extra space to display all the text?
Click to collapse
[Feature request] Notification gadget design
The original design may look decent on a TV screen, while on a phone screen... (landscape, portrait)
Maybe a different design?.. (like this, 2-entry layout: landscape, portrait)
Update:
For improved compatibility more likely...
[Bug] Orientation bug
With this option set, in the player interface when the orientation changes (without using the player's built-in function to invoke), the position of this retractable icon list may change.
[Feature request] UI fade
Not everyone like fading, the visual delay can cause quite a nuisance when fast action is required...
An option to control perhaps?
[Bug] Filename omitting
And noticed the inconsistency in the filename display (omitting)?.. (the full name: '#0 Urban Muscle, veyron 01.33.93.mp4', for comparison)
First of all, thanks for your valuable feedback and support to MX.

Quick shortcuts are intended to provide quicker access to the widely used functions especially for those who don't want to enable this permanently. We would like to confirm that we are already working toward proving an option to customize the same. In future, you will be able to select the list of shortcuts to be disaplyed.

This is irrelevant to the notifications. MX Player's notifications are expandable. You can simply swipe down the notification with to fingers to get the FF/RW buttons.

While the essence of the problem is that button does exactly nothing (almost) under such scenarios...
And it doesn't seem to serve as a good decoration neither -_-

[Bug] "Last media in each folder"
The option seems to have no effect at all. (either set or not the media always get marked)
[Feature request] Scrollbar & Folder name
And messing with the case is not a good practice, especially on a system that's case-sensitive...
Applied:
Adding a scrollbar is necessary...
[INVALID] [Feature request] Fallback SW
On decoding failures using HW/HW+, instead of skipping the playback item directly, falling back to SW as the last resort seems more reasonable.
Update:
Seems I encountered some sort of bugs earlier that had me drawn such inaccuracy...
[Feature request] Pause at EOF
Pause at the end of each file if no loop is set.
Actually related to this, and the solution proposed there doesn't work very well...
(especially when the playback request is made from other programs to MX Player, combined with a decoding failure, item skipped... would look just like a crash)

It seems that some custom themes are applied to the device. By default, MX Player will automatically use the colour based on the System UI. If it fails to get the color properly, request you to manually change the color to light by navigating to settings > player > notification color, and that should fix your issues.

Hello. Go menu - settings - applications - click 3 dots in the right corner and select show system applications. Next in the list we find "samsung capture" - memory - clear memory (in the lower left corner) - go back one step - click 3 dots in the right corner - delete updates. We reboot the device and update this program through the galaxy store. Enjoy the working function (after installation, you may need to add a button to the curtain.
You can also upgrade using https://f-droid.org/ and https://www.apkmirror.com/. Download the latest version of "samsung capture" from apkmirror. In f-droid, assign your update repository.
always keep in mind - if something does not work or glitches - do a complete reset of the application, for starters.
Have a nice day!
p.s. In general, after updates by air, it is better to always do a full reset to the factory state, making backup of your data. since glitches constantly occur. and where which glitch appears next time and at what moment is unknown.
