[Feature Request] Interface doesn't auto-hide when playback paused - MX Player

Hi, I'm using MX Player v1.8.10 on android 5.1.1 and would like to report what I believe to be a bug.
In Settings > Player > Controls, I have set "Touch action" to "Show interface + pause/resume".
Also I have set "Interface auto hide" to 1.0 sec.
When I play a movie and touch the screen once, it pauses the movie, but the problem is that in this case the Interface does NOT hide after 1.0sec. In fact, interface will never hide until I touch the screen again to resume playback.
This is annoying as sometimes I would like to pause a movie and see that still frame without anything else on screen (hide interface).
If this is a bug, I hope it can be corrected.
If this is by design, I would like to request a feature to enforce that navigation is hidden after 1.0sec like chosen in the setting.
Thanks for your support.

Looks intentional -- interface does not hide in any circumstance where the video is paused, presumably as pausing means you want to interact with the controls in most cases. This would be a feature request to apply the time-out also to when the video is paused.

Thanks for your support CDB-Man, and for adding it to the feature request list. I look forward to it ^^

Hi CDB-Man, is there any hope to implement this (very small) feature in a timely fashion? ^^;

After waiting a year and a 1/2, any hope to get an update for this?

Hi,
Sorry for the long wait. We have already noted down this. But, not on the priority list. Here is the quick workaround with existing settings.
Method 1:
Set the touch action to Pause/Resume. No interface will be shown on touch. You can get the interface by tapping the pause icon on the top left.
Method 2:
Set the touch action to show/hide interface & enable the double tap gesture. You can pause by just double tapping. If you want to hide the interface tap once.

Thirumalai.K, your reply is much appreciated.
Wise workarounds, that seem to work well!
Using method2 for now so as not to have the pause icon, even if it's small.
I still think having "Show interface + pause/resume" AND respecting the "Interface auto hide" disappear after set time (1.0 sec here) would be ideal so I really hope for a bugfix eventually ^^;
Thanks for your support.

Thirumalai, would you know if there's an update on this front?

Bump in the wind...

Mx Player team, any feedback on this request after so long?

We would like to confirm that your request has been shared with our relevant team and in our roadmap. However, we will not be able to provide any ETA as our team currently working on the high priority the features that are more useful for the most.

A little bump..

MXPlayer, still very interested in a proper fix for this bug.
In a nutshell, again, I just wish for MXPlayer to respect the "Interface auto hide" setting when set to 1.0 sec.
In Settings > Player > Controls, I have set "Touch action" to "Show interface + pause/resume".
But when I play a movie and touch the screen once, it pauses the movie, but the problem is that in this case the Interface does NOT hide after 1.0sec.
Please fix this small bug. I know it's clearly not high priority but I've been waiting for more than 3 years now..
Thank you for your support.

We are sorry to keep you waiting. We would first like to clarify that MX Player doesn't hide the interface automatically intentionally on the paused state since it will require an additional tap to resume for most other users. So, this request is not prioritized. However, we will revisit this again based on the user demands and work on it again in future if found viable. Meanwhile, request you to use one of the workarounds suggested earlier.
Thank You!

MortPlayer

Just to let you know, there's a beta of MortPlayer in the Android Market ("MortPlayer Music (beta)").
Don't expect it to be the 50" thick swiss army knife MortPlayer for WM became.
Some features still need to be added (sleep timer, caching database, ...), but mostly I want to keep it simple to use.
So, what you get with "MortPlayer Music" is a simple, folder based player. No "favorites", just a selectable main folder. No playlist support, because that just caused confusion about the current mode and when to save. (However, there might come support for existing playlist files that determine the order of files in the same folder.) No special audio book support - but I plan to offer a separate "MortPlayer Audio Books", which of course will have it's own main directory.
What it does offer so far:
- Simple folder based navigation with folder skip buttons and hierarchical selection (tap cover)
- Selection of current track (tap track information, you can switch folder from there as well)
- Supports all common album art storages: ID3 (currently buggy), cover.jpg, folder.jpg, AlbumArt.jpg
- Shuffle and repeat modes as known from WM version
- Restores previously selected track
- Widgets (Cover = play/pause, track information = "remote control" popup)
What's planned:
- Cache directory structure and tag data in database (except covers, don't want to clutter the device storage...)
- Show tag data in track list
- Some eye candy (e.g. animations, background images)
- "As next track" option in track list
- Sleep timer, maybe alarm clock
- Audio book version (separate app)
- Version history dialog
- PayPal button in Help/About
- Different main screens (selection or skinning, let's see what's possible...)
What won't be implemented (soon):
- Equalizer, effects, other formats. I use Android's playback methods, and Android doesn't offer them...
- Streaming. Maybe some time as separate app, but I think there are already better solutions for that.
Maybe, some day:
- Playlist support (read only, only for files in same folder)
- Temporary folder selection (play some folder(s) not in main directory, don't save/cache anything for it)
- Tag based navigation
- Search function
- Playlist version (similar to MortPlayer for WM in playlist mode)
Sweet! Can't wiat for this when I get my Mytouch 3g.
It looks nice so far, particularly the ability to have it only read from one folder and not grab every audio file on your sdcard like the standard player... (wasn't able to try with audio yet... Left my headset home and I'm at work)
Question though... does it support crossfading or gapless audio?
No other media player I've seen in android does... I'm just starting android programming so I haven't gone through the SDK all that much so I can't see why this might be...
Its a very good idea, to make a good player for android with a good features list.
I hope it will be sucessfull.

No, afaik the SDK doesn't allow that (at least didn't find something). (OK, maybe I could start a 2nd MediaPlayer instance shortly before track ends... but I think that'd be pretty hard to time correctly...)
But the gaps are pretty small, at least on my Milestone. I had some intro / song follow-ups where I barely noticed the track change.

I try to focus a bit more on usability than on features for this one. The WM version became "a bit" bloated and complicated over time...
This is great news! I plan to get an Android as my next phone. It will be great to see my favorite WM application there.
Yet another "New MusicPlayer?" suggestion
Hey Mort!
i really love the idea of a new music player for android (finally someone did it )
however what i (and i guess a big part of the community) prefers is a player with a library like the default android player. I'm NOT telling you to change something on MortPlayer, i am just suggesting that a nice new app would be a MusicPlayer that has:
- Nice library with SIMPLE listview, not extended listview as in default music player
- Tabs instead of those buttons for Artist, Album, etc.
- Backgroundservice that prohibits the player from being crashed when running in the background
- Theme Support(?)
- Widget / maybe even LockScreen plugin? (dunno if that is doable)
just suggesting.... not telling you you have to do this but everyone would appreciate it, as the amount of 3rd party players is in my opinion. Either they are slow, or totally overloaded with features, buggy, or incompatible...
P.S.: Shouldn't be too hard as Android has a MediaService that recognizes and puts the whole Music in a library, so all you would have to do is an interface for that service.
just wanted to say THANK YOU for bringing my favorite Audioplayer at Win Mobile to Android too. I really loved MortPlayer for Win Mobile and I'm shure that I will also love Mort Player for Android. Please do also a decent Audiobookplayer because the players availible aren't even worth to mention.
Like the remote pop-up. So far looks quite good.
Would like it to maintain functionality first- coverflow etc. will be nice, but keep it usable first
Thank you for dev this. Android still needs a good media player that is simple and still nice to use and look at. I was using Meridan player which was fine but just kind of boring. This on the other hand is nice from what I seen/use so far. It shows that you can make app easy to use and still pretty to look at!

Sorry, don't think this will be anytime soon. IMHO there are enough alternatives for that, even the new one from Androi 2.1 probably would too soon become a reasonable alternative.
- Nice library with SIMPLE listview, not extended listview as in default music player
Click to collapse
What's wrong with extended listviews? It's not harder to select an item and saves space. I was thinking about it myself.
- Tabs instead of those buttons for Artist, Album, etc.

Click to collapse
If I add tags browsing, of course this will be the case.
- Backgroundservice that prohibits the player from being crashed when running in the background

If the player window isn't visible, only the background service is running. If Android decides to kill the service, there's not much to stop it from doing so - with all bad side effects. All I can do is restart the service when it's required...
- Theme Support(?)
Click to collapse
Pretty hard to do while maintaining flexible adjustment to different screen sizes. I was thinking about some selectable themes (i.e. colors, button styles, etc.) and layouts (i.e. where is what) and selectable background images in a later version, but of course that's not even close to skinning...
Widget / maybe even LockScreen plugin? (dunno if that is doable)

Widget's there. I think there's some tool to add a Widget to the LockScreen, but I don't think that's a good idea anyway. Just imagine you start the player accidentally in office...

Yeah, I know that service. It sucks (imho). It seems pure luck when it detects new files, has several bugs in tag reading (some of my files were shown with weird chinese texts), doesn't offer a quick and easy way to get the tags to a given file, ... That's why I use own ID3 and database routines.

Well, it's a better system and learned from some errors in the past...
Attached is a preview of the next update. It contains quite some changes (database, sleep timer, headset support, some bugfixes, ...), so it'd be nice if it's a bit tested before I upload a worse than current version to Market...
Next try... I think this one should be stable and fast enough to publish it in Market. But better safe than lots of 1 star ratings...
Bugfix, now folder navigation should work again.
Thx Mort for the great effort again!
I used Mort Player in wm for long time and it works like a charm!!!
And now u are contributing to Android. You are always the best dev i met!!!
Little suggestion, are A2DP and AVRCP possible in ur masterpiece?

Of course. A2DP is done by Android anyway, and AVRCP handling is quite easy (once you discovered MEDIA_BUTTON means all media related buttons...). I wish it was half as easy and stable with WM...
However, on HTC hero you need "headset button enabler" (in Market) because it doesn't send the correct "intents".
Update: New update available in Market.
The latest v0.3.3 works very well!!!
Now the AVRCP works with my Liquid~
5-starred MortPlayer in market! thanks!

EDIT: I found what seems to me like a bug (or at least an unexpected feature...). If I touch the widget it brings up the remote control pane and functions properly on my G1 (cm4.2.13). If i touch "Show main player" it does. From here, if I hit the home button, the next time I touch the widget, I get the Main intent instead of the remote. If I hit the "back" button from the Main player, the widget again shows the remote control pane as expected.
Cheers!

I know, but I didn't find any workaround to this weird Android behaviour.
Main trouble is Android's Activity handling. An "Activity" is similar to what you'd call window or dialog in Windows. In Android, only one activity is running per app, i.e. if you move from main screen to folder selection, the main screen activity is stopped, and then restarted when you return. Exactly the same happens when you move to the home screen, get a call, open a notification, etc. Only exception is the back button, where the activity is "finalized" (similar to a "real close", but still cached for reuse).
It seems Android doesn't like to start a new activity (the remote screen) when another one of the same app is still running.
I could "finalize" the player at other events as well, but the only ones invoked when pressing the Home button are the same as when you enter e.g. folder selection. So if I'd finalize the main view there, returning from folder selection would return to a no more existing activity, i.e. the app isn't visible anymore. Not exactly what you'd want...
Sorry for the long technical explanation, but I it's a bit hard to put Android's handling in better words...
Just glad to see you've moved over to Android! I used your player for a long time when I was on WM, but I have to say it was getting more complex than I needed. I would like to see many of the features your working on, but stability and simplicity are much more important. Album art seems to plague the players I've worked with, so if you can reliably handle all the methods you mentioned, that would be great...The only one that seems to be a problem for me is the ID3 embedded art.
Keep up the great work!

makes sense, I figured it has something to do with Activity handling.
Thank you for the technical response. I really appreciate it.
Hrm..perhaps this is why Stericson uses AndExplorer for file selection in MetaMorph (or maybe he just didn't feel like / hasn't gotten around to writing a file picker...)

[APP] Flip4Silence 2.0 - Silence notifications when your phone is flipped!

Flip4Silence 2.0 BETA
Silence notifications when your phone is flipped - battery friendly!
Flip4Silence is back! It's just an BETA version but it already serves its purpose: Silence notifications when the phone lays upside down on the table! And the best thing about this, it doesn't eat up your battery (like other tools do)!
I just finished the BETA and I'm currently testing it. But as I think it could be useful to someone in this state I just made it public. Please be so kind and keep in mind that this is not the final and probably will not act as reliable as it should. I will do my best to fix any bugs which are found, so please report your problems back.
If you are a ROM chief or have a custom ROM installed:
I have planned to migrate this tool to a "one for all" tone silencer. Unfortunately this requires a patch (which is attached to this post) to allow the user to set the tones as the system defaults. The patch is also posted on the AOSP gerrit and may be accepted (don't know if they like the patch) and I will try to integrate it into CM9.
If you are a ROM chief and would like to integrate the patch and the (upcoming) tool feel free to contact me via pm.
If you are a user of a custom ROM feel free to encourage your ROM chief to integrate the patch.
Feel free to contact me if you have integrated the patch somewhere, especially if it's a ROM for the Galaxy Nexus or Nexus One as I would like to use it on my own phones
Attention:
If you had a previous version installed I'm very sorry to tell you that you have to REASSIGN every single ringtone you have selected with F4S Ultimate before again due to a internal incompatible change!
What it gives you:
Silence nearly every notification!
Is planned to be a full replacement for every ringtone picker (please tell me what you want from your ringtone picker)
It's nice to your battery as it's only active when something happens and not all the time.
More control over the sensitivity used (no more "low", "high", "normal", you are in charge now!).
MP3 ringtones are now supported! The UI is not really finished, it's at least planned to add the album covers to the list.
"Silence when user is present" - never get a notification sound again when you are playing with your device and don't need a audio notification.
What it can't do:
You can't use it to put silenced ringtones into the default settings. Please never ever put a silenced ringtone into your phone ringer or the default notification sound. It will just not work (and will never), trust me. However, you can put in a "unsilenced" ringtone (more later).
Currently the sensors will report strange results if you have vibration on while a ringtone is played. It lacks a good filtering, so it's not really usable currently.
How to use it?
It has currently no settings dialog at all, it is just a alternative to pick a ringtone. When you select somewhere a "Choose a ringtone now" button it will be an option which you can launch.
When you select your tones with the tool it will more or less look like the standard ringtone picker with some exceptions. On the bottom you will see a list with all ringtones you may pick from. When you select them, they will be played as a preview to you (just like the stock ringtone picker does). When you have found your ringtone just hit the tick button at the top bar and you are done. It will now silence this (and only this) notification when the phone lays on its display. When you want to discard your selection just hit the cross on the top, the back button of your phone or the home button, it's your choice.
The really interesting thing is the speaker icon at the top bar. It works the following way:
When you see the muted speaker (speaker with X) the ringtone will be silenced when you hit the tick button (sure, it will only be muted when the phone lays upside down). But sometimes you want a sound so be played everytime and not only when the phone lays with its back on the table. Then you can press the speaker at the top and it will switch over to a unmuted speaker. When you now hit the tick the selected tone will never be muted by the tool.
You can now start over and replace every notification sound with a one selected via this tool. Just pick a tone and hit the tick at the bar and you are done.
I'm currently using gingerbread and was able to replace the tones in the following applications:
Stock SMS/MMS
gTalk
Google+
Facebook
Flip4Silence
How does this sensitivity slider work?
It allows you to set the exact degree when Flip4Silence should recognize the phone as "lays on its screen". The range is from 0 (lays exactly on its screen) to 90 degree (stands on its bottom).
You can change the value with the slider or with the plus and minus button to a value which should fit your need (it lacks a testing mode, sorry :/).
The green part of the slice on the left is a visualization of the "snap area" where Flip4Silence will recognize the phone should be silent. You can transfer it to the real world when you put your phone with its bottom on the table which would be 90 degree. When you now tilt it slowly down to it's screen it would be 0. So you have actually moved it on 90 degrees of a circle which is what the image tried to tell you.
The settings are now this way because people reported that LOW and HIGH weren't enough to trigger it the way they wanted it. The dialog still lacks a "choose from presets" option but this will hopefully be added in the future.
As a hint here are the settings known from F4S 1.0 (which will suit the most people)
High: 20 degree
Normal: 25 degree
Low: 30 degree
So you say it's now save to use it to pick global ringtones?
Yes, in general it is. The picker maintains now a blacklist for Activities which aren't able to handle the special ringtones we return. This blacklist currently only has the stock settings blacklisted so it should work for most devices. But HTC/Motorola/Samsung may have changed ROMs in a way that they also changed the identifier for the SystemSettings. In this cases the blacklist will not work until I have added them
So as it's more or less save, here is the warning again:
Please note the fact that you should never ever use a "silenced" ringtone for the ringer or the default notification sound. The new BETA tries to prevent you from doing so (the little speaker on the top is not drawn) but it may fail! If you see a speaker in your Default Notification/Ringtone picker than please hit the "Report usage" button in Flip4Silence ultimate so I can add it to the blacklist.
What does this "Report usage" button do again?
As stated above it will send a report to me about the places where you have used Flip4Silence Ultimate to select a ringtone. Please only send the manual report if you have found out that your System Settings is not blocked from setting a silenced ringtone (as described above). Please also leave a short note here that you have send a report. Reports contain the same data as crashreports, so nothing is really special about them.
"Silence when user is present" does what?
Did it ever annoyed you to hear notifications when you got your device in your hand? Did you ever thought "Damn, shut up! I have seen the notification, no need to play a sound...".
If yes, then I have a solution for you: "Silence when user is present" does simply what is says, it blocks the notification sound when you are currently fiddling with your device and don't need another acoustic notification about a new message or anything else.
Of course it only works with sound which were set with this app and currently the switch is on a global base (will likely change in an upcoming version).
Okay, sounds good so far, where can I get it?
I will attach the newest version and the previous one to this post whenever an update occures. You can also download it on the Android Market
Why is this nifty app not translated into [INSERT LANGUAGE HERE]?
I will contribute at least a German translation once the strings in the program have settled down (one or two releases before the first stable will be released). If your favorite language is missing and you are willing to translate it by yourself please contact me and I will hand the localization files when the app has reached the pre stable state.
The icons used are nice, but the application icon is damn ugly dude!
Yea, I know. I had to make some of my own when I developed Flip4Silence so the quality is far from good. While I like the overall theme (the phone and the sleep indication) it's not really pretty as I'm more the coding guy than a designer. If you are a designer or know someone who would like to make some icons for this app it would be awesome if you would contact me. I can't provide any money for this as it's only a fun project but it would be worth a credits entry and publicity (it depends, but I expect a broad usage around the globe, just like the original Flip4Silence ).
Uh, who has done this cute icons you are using?
The icons used in the main view of the ringtone picker are from AndroidIcons.com. Thanks guys for this great set of free icons!

Flip4Silence classic doesn't work correctly on ICS? Didn't knew that, sure I will try to fix this in this rewrite (the old app will not receive any update, everything will be reimplemented).
I will give it a try when I move the old code to the new codebase but I can't promise anything as I don't know whats broken and so don't know how it may be fixed.
But thanks for the report =)
OMG!
Just installed older version from market. I know why it wasn't working..."Keep vibrating" was still enabled.
Sorry...my fault.

I just release BETA3. As nobody reads the main post again, please note the following:
You generally don't have to take special care about the System Settings default sound picker as it's now blacklisted as it not supports F4S Ultimate. Consult the main post for more info about this. But If the little speaker at the top is shown for you in the default settings please hit the "Report usage" button and send me some info about your phone (again, more info is hidden in the main post ).
If you had a previous version installed I'm very sorry to tell you that you have to REASSIGN every single ringtone you have selected with F4S Ultimate before again due to a internal incompatible change!
Also I would like to say "Thank you!" to everybody who is currently testing/using this! I have not thought that so many people would try it! Thank you very much!

Also I would like to say "Thank you!" to everybody who is currently testing/using this! I have not thought that so many people would try it! Thank you very much!

Why the BETA sign? What's not stable yet? And when do you plan to release a non-beta version?

It has the beta sign because it's rather untested and it's a very fragile kind of app as it operates at the border (or some steps beyond) of the android system.
I does things which were never intended by the developers, also I'm developing this thing alone. The beta sign will be removed when it's proven that it operates on virtually any phone from android 1.6 to 4.0 and includes all the features the original Flip4Silence has.
Currently everything is working as intended besides a bug I have just found (which is documented in the second post). A "stable" (I only release software which is at least usable for me) without the beta sign will come when I have done all the work. I can't tell you a date as this is not my job but I will do my best to release as often as I can.
BETA4 is out now!
BETA4 is out now!
It introduces a new feature: "Silence when user is present", please take a look at the first and second post for the changes in detail.
Besides that I had to wipe the caller database once again as the format changed again, so you have to reassign anything again (should be the last time, the format should be stable now...).
A sidenote:
I have not received any crash so far and it seems to work pretty good so I consider it now "stable enough for everyday use".

It's a ringtonepicker replacement, to use the app you have to reassign the notification tones of the apps you want to be silenced on a flip. Your system will present you a list of apps which are suitable for ringtone picking, just select Flip4Silence there.
"Silence when user is present" - never get a notification sound again when you are playing with your device and don't need a audio notification.
Man I have been looking for this feature since day 1 of owning a Android Phone! I'll help you test the app!
Edit: I goto settings>Sound>Ringtone phone> choose flip4silence>Local Media
Crashes every time

Once again, lesson learned: never ever say "it's working good, quiet good" as it will brake then =)
It's a problem in (at least) the artist list, I will fix it soon. Stay tuned for an update and thanks for testing =)
Crappy video I made showing how I made it crash: http://youtu.be/R_4v-AKSjM4 (done in about half an hour)
I also provided a logcat with warnings, errors and fatal exceptions. Don't worry about the rmt_storage lines though, that has something to do with the beta ROM I'm using.

Now that's cool, I have never seen a bug report video before . It should be easy to fix this, but I have one question:
How many MP3s do you have on your device (I don't need an exact number, just a rough estimation, something like "60 albums" or something like that)?
13 normal albums, 1 album of Super Smash Bros (which has about 200+ songs ) and one "album" I made myself for my ringtones.

thanks in particular @CedArctic for his awesome review
Please consider this is a Beta and my first app, bugs could occurs
Suggestions and bugs report are very very welcome !
Enjoy !
Screenshot Attached:
more screenshots in play store link (screens are a bit outdated, in current application you can find more material design )
Positives: Really nice app for the first beta, I like the option to customise the Action Bar colour (and yes it's called action bar not title bar) and it's very fast and smooth, and it has a few nice features.
Negatives: At the moment is very unstable and crashes a lot as you leave the app, the app isn't translated to English properly (few phrases missing) and on an HDPI device colours for the action bar are cut off on the right side (I've attached a screenshot), maybe you can make it scrollable.
Keep up the good work! :good:
Would be cool if you make your strings public so that the community can translate your app to other languages. Another thing is that I'm using Viper4Android equalizer and your app just creates a toast which says that I should restart my phone whenever I try to open equalizer settings.
NICE!
Great idea..
i like the UI
feature request
-swipe to change tracks.
-english translation
-ability too search all.. you wont need to go to the artist section to search for artist.. like that..
bugs
-there are some songs/artist/albums that is not appearing when searched.
-some tracks doesnt appear on the artist/abum
-it crashes too
overall good app
keep it up
sorry for my english not my first language
Thanks to all of you for trying my app, your feedback and report are really helpfull
At this stage it's clear it is too soon for a public release, but i would really appreciate if someone wants to help me testing the app so i can discover and fix bugs as soon as possible (when the app crash i receive logcat on my mail).

Thanks for feedback!!
I'm noticing that the equalizer behaves in a strange way, this is caused by a lot of different equalizer (stock, viper4android, CyanogenMod, xposed framework, ...), implemented in custom ROMs, I'm trying to solve this problem (some bugs were fixed in 1.0. 7, try it)
hope we can browse songs by folder.
nice man! downloading now.
Sugestions if you want to make this the N°1 Android Player
- YouTube search and play video
Including playlist support
screen off/other aplication playback ( I Use "Freddi yt player" for this)
Pin videos (or audio download) for offline use
- Buit in Album art downloader and mp3 tag editor (I use mp3dit for this)
- Lyrics grabber (I used to use "lyrics" for this (stopped working))
Just play a music and with one click see the lyric
Sync All option for offline use
Button on the app and also on notifications for lyrics.
So,here we have 3 difference apps that could be just one,(also some new features for them) plus the stock music player
And would be "revolutionary" for non advanced users
Congrats for theming, also good musical taste

I downloaded your app today. It is very nice, with a cool interface. I liked it very much and will start to use it to see if I can spot some bugs.
I have a request. My phone is a Samsung with stock rom. I would like the app to have a lockscreen widget to control music, such as the one seen in one of your screenies. It is possible?
EDIT: by some random reason, the widget appeared.
The app keeps appearing in notification bar, even when it's inactive and don't playing music. Is there a way to get rid of this?
One sugestion:
Make a tab to see the music by the folders. The rocket player have this feature and it's only because of this that i use it. Seriously dude, add a tab of folders where we can see our music by folders and i will start using your app.
Songs are displayed alphabetically instead of by their track order. That's a major negative for me.
Feature request - smart shuffle = all songs until entire catalog is played, not the "random" shuffle nearly all players have, that cycles through the same songs over and over. The only player I've found that approaches this is just playlists. The shuffle Gods have long ago given up on us..
Sent from my LG-V510 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Looks promising, will definitely check it out. A couple of ideas or suggestions:
Does the player currently (or will it in the future) have the option to pull music from folders on cloud storage instead of on the device itself? It would free up a ton of storage space on our phones, for those that don't have much room for our massive playlists.
Also, is the album art downloaded and kept "post-song" in a file of some sort? If so, can the ability to enable or disable the album art download be added once the album art function is added in to the player? Again, just thinking of saving limited space 8)
EDIT: Also a big fan of suggestions of others! Swyping to skip forward or backward would be real nice feature, as well as the option of adding the lyrics to the app main page. An option for dark (Holo dark?) would be a nice touch as well.
great simple interface
Loved simple interface. And loved the feat "hide small audio files "... notification sounds wont play . Great idea
One suggestion after using player for 10 mins.
Can we add indivisual songs to the queu rather than the whole list of songs is played when a song is selected from the "songs" tab. In my view user wouldnt want to play all songs at any given time, rather music depends on time or affect and .. so many artist or album have songs we want to listen to a particular time.
Great for a Beta!
Suggestion: Add tab to browse music through folders and continuous gap-less playback would be great.
Cheers
Man you've already made me regeert buying another music player on Google past just a week ago! The interface is great, it has play next which a lot of apps don't have, you have a 3x 3 album grid which I find way better than both a 2 picture wide grid and a list. Also, you seem to be the only one that understands that text may be larger /longer than you screen permits, and you make the text scroll which I've asked developers of every music app I've tried to implement and the way the queue slides out is quite nice. Maybe a mini tutorial on the slide out menu would make it a bit more obvious that you can do that for less experienced users. I like how solid Explorer does that: just one picture with an arrow showing where you can slide.
I've got 1 small request though:
a dark theme, I use an amoled screen so that would save energy for me
Keep up the amazing work!

Not sure, if I understood your questions ... but yes, you can add the network mode activity, like any other activity, to this tile.
BUT the network mode is a tricky one ... the network mode activity uses some heavy workarounds and standard Android, manufacturers and even roms (looking at you cm/lineage) mess around with this feature .... sometimes adding a 3 seconds wait activity between the network mode activity and another activity will solve issues, sometimes it does not ... If it does not work for you, send me a message with details (device, rom, root methode, quicktile activities and a log file) and I will have a look ... but don´t expect a fix.... some things are not fixable

you are welcome. thanks for the feedback!
Hi all,
QuickTile has more than 50 different activities, some easy to understand (like the standard device settings activities), some more unique, complex and powerful. A lot of users ask me which activities to use and how to handle complex setups, so I decided to introduce some use cases. A lot of these activities are unique (no other app will provide something similar), so I will focus on these activities. In each post I will introduce 2-4 features/ activities ... so let´s start with:
# Text-to-Speech:
QuickTile has a powerful Text-to-Speech engine. Currently 3 different activities are supported:
- Text-to-Speech: Let QuickTile Speak any text you want ... you can combine this with any other activity to give you some audio feedback, for example combine the text "WiFi ON" with the WiFi ON activity ... or you can use it for fun and let your device say "good morning ascsa" or something completely different.
- Speak time: Tells you the time
- Say Date: Tells you the date
# External Plugin:
This unique feature let you use standard automation plugins with QuickTile. What does that mean: You can use a wide range of automation plugins (the same you could use with e.g. Tasker) to fire automation task activities ... for example you could fire "Secure Settings Plugin" activities with QuickTile or use "Pushbullet" to send notifications to other devices or you can fire "Greenify" tasks. All you have to do is install the Plugin App and choose your activity via the "External Plugin" Group.
# HttpGet and HttpPost
You can use QuickTile to send HttpGet and HttpPost request ... Very cool and powerful feature, you can do all kinds of cool stuff with this...
Some users control their Smarthomes via QuickTile ... You can for example switch on your smart Hue lights with just a Tile in your quick settings. Pretty cool isn´t it?
QuickTile has a lot of other cool and unique features and if you enjoy this post, just let me know and I will present some other cool features in similar posts. ...
QuickTile unique and cool features Part 2:
Received a lot of positive feedback for the previous "QuickTile cool features" postet, so let´s have a look at some other cool activities and features in QuickTile:
# Music Player (Start/Launch)
You can fire up your music player and start playing music (play/pause parameter recommended)....
Yep, doesn´t sound much, BUT you can combine this activity with other activities and features and create your own customized "play music profile" ... e.g. add the "Set Music vol" activity and bring your media volume to 100 % and also add the "Ringer" activity (both -> Device settings) with the "Do NOT Disturb" parameter to enjoy your music ....AND you can add an additional cycle to stop the music, bring back your music volume to e.g. 34 % and bring your Ringer mode back to normal ...cool :good:
Cycle 1:
- Music Player : Play
- Set Music Volume: 100
- Ringer: Do not Disturb
Cycle 2:
- Music Player : Stop
- Set Music Volume: 34
- Ringer: Normal
Remember to choose a Pause icon (II) for cycle 1 and a Play icon (>) for cycle 2 and matching labels, because QuickTile will always show you the icon + label for the next cycle ... You can also add more activities like bluetooth on/off or Navigation to this Tile
#Navigation (Start/Launch)
Start a Navigation ... Just enter your desired address as parameter and you are good to go ... or keep the address empty to just open your navigation app
You can also combine this activity with other activities start a custom car mode (e.g. WiFi off, Bluetooth on, Music Player Play etc.)
or you can try out the Android Car Mode (depends on your rom / device)
#Car Mode (Start/Launch)
Start the android car mode ... I would recommend to install Android Auto and you should be good to go
Should be enough for part 2 of this "QuickTile cool features and activities" post ....
Feedback always welcome
Update 1.10.1
Update 1.10.1 is out in the wild --> Google Play

Update 1.10.+
* Set Orientation activity

[Bug] [Feature request] Miscellaneous things

A collection of miscellaneous things about MX Player.
[Feature request] "Background Play" icon
Is there still a need to display the icon when it does nothing?.. especially when both these options are set...
Update:
The problem is mitigated as the "Quick Shortcuts" is fully customizable now.
[Feature request] The retractable icon list
This retractable icon list can be quickly expanded by tapping the icon, while there's no way to retract it in a similar way...
Consider adding an icon for such control?..
[Bug] Frozen notification gadget
When background playing, paused using the gadget control, then tap the gadget to enter the player interface.
The gadget will be frozen. (inactive, not functional, desynchronized with the playback)
[INVALID] [Bug] Incomplete notification gadget
With "Forward/backward moving button" set, the notification gadget doesn't seem to be influenced... (effective only for the player interface)
Update:
Essentially an OS issue... (forced Notifications auto collapse)
Is there any way (as a user) to force all notifications to be expandable? - Android Enthusiasts Stack Exchange
I wonder why the OS would be designed so as to make notification expandability an app level feature rather than a user level feature? Old apps might not be designed with this in mind, or they might be designed for a version of Android that didn't support expanded notifications - how hard would it be to allot extra space to display all the text?
Click to collapse
[Feature request] Notification gadget design
The original design may look decent on a TV screen, while on a phone screen... (landscape, portrait)
Maybe a different design?.. (like this, 2-entry layout: landscape, portrait)
Update:
For improved compatibility more likely...
[Bug] Orientation bug
With this option set, in the player interface when the orientation changes (without using the player's built-in function to invoke), the position of this retractable icon list may change.
[Feature request] UI fade
Not everyone like fading, the visual delay can cause quite a nuisance when fast action is required...
An option to control perhaps?
[Bug] Filename omitting
And noticed the inconsistency in the filename display (omitting)?.. (the full name: '#0 Urban Muscle, veyron 01.33.93.mp4', for comparison)
First of all, thanks for your valuable feedback and support to MX.

Quick shortcuts are intended to provide quicker access to the widely used functions especially for those who don't want to enable this permanently. We would like to confirm that we are already working toward proving an option to customize the same. In future, you will be able to select the list of shortcuts to be disaplyed.

This is irrelevant to the notifications. MX Player's notifications are expandable. You can simply swipe down the notification with to fingers to get the FF/RW buttons.

This is irrelevant to the notifications. MX Player's notifications are [HIGHLIGHT]expandable[/HIGHLIGHT]. You can simply swipe down the notification with to fingers to get the FF/RW buttons.

The original design may look decent on a TV screen, while on a phone screen... (landscape, portrait)
Maybe a different design?.. (like this, 2-entry layout: landscape, portrait)

With "Forward/backward moving button" set, the notification gadget doesn't seem to be influenced... (effective only for the player interface)

Rechecked, and had the above assumption confirmed.

[Bug] "Last media in each folder"
The option seems to have no effect at all. (either set or not the media always get marked)
[Feature request] Scrollbar & Folder name
And messing with the case is not a good practice, especially on a system that's case-sensitive...
Applied:
Adding a scrollbar is necessary...
[INVALID] [Feature request] Fallback SW
On decoding failures using HW/HW+, instead of skipping the playback item directly, falling back to SW as the last resort seems more reasonable.
Update:
Seems I encountered some sort of bugs earlier that had me drawn such inaccuracy...
[Feature request] Pause at EOF
Pause at the end of each file if no loop is set.
Actually related to this, and the solution proposed there doesn't work very well...
(especially when the playback request is made from other programs to MX Player, combined with a decoding failure, item skipped... would look just like a crash)

It seems that some custom themes are applied to the device. By default, MX Player will automatically use the colour based on the System UI. If it fails to get the color properly, request you to manually change the color to light by navigating to settings > player > notification color, and that should fix your issues.

Hmm... the forum has already provided adequate capabilities. I doubt doing the same thing via email would be any better...

...You missed the whole point. I mean the layout.
(The notification gadget doesn't look alright in Android 5 below (API < 21))
