I like the Camera app by OP on the OP6 but it seems to add too much post processing to the pictures. Maybe theres a way to stop that, and if anyone could point me to it id very much appreciate it.
What are your thoughts on it? Is anyone using a different camera app?

I know the title is a little misleading, but I'm curious is there is a app, or a fix for the awful 720p quality the evo shoots, or even the microphone quality(not sure it this is a hardware microphone limitation or not). It is pretty bad, horribly compressed, can't deny that, I'm just curious if anyone has put together an app or a rooted phone fix for this?
Naw not yet but people are working on it theres a thread in the development forums about improving the camera
awesome, got any links? Can't seem to find them :\.
So, I have been messing around. And I have come to find that the stock Camera.apk and CameraFirmware.apk from the SGS4G on froyo 2.2.1 are mostly compatible with the Sidekick 4G. In fact the camera looks better, and we could possibly port the zoom features somhow 0.0 so I have been trying to figure out how I can get started with this "idea". It would be awesome, there are a couple bugs so far.
Bugs:
-No zoom (yet)
-No highest res in Video Recorder
-Some resolutions have no review screen
-front camera is flipped 90 degrees cc ( I wanna work on this first really, if I can get some help starting it)
Just looking for stuff to do with my limited current knowledge.
(Sorry, still new to informative posting -_-)
I just linked some shots
Here is plain camera view, you can pinch and see the zoom box but the image doesn't change

Here is the flipped-sideways front facing shot --> https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/83829634/Android/Screenshots/device-2013-06-15-114814.png
And last, here is the said apks:
Camera.apk --> https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/83829634/Android/CameraApks/Camera.apk
CameraFirmware.apk --> https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/83829634/Android/CameraApks/CameraFirmware.apk
That would be nice to have if it works better. The camera is one of the weakest links on this device I think.
I know little to nothing about the cameras hardware or software, you may just need to match the libs but you also may need to rewrite drivers, that part is hard.
Keep us posted, very interesting!

It would be awesome to finally have a camera with zoom is what I have been thinking. I'm not very good when it comes to code, I've still been taking courses and practicing here and there. But as far as testing it out, I can practice on my own device and let you know if I figure some things out.
Maybe another thread somewhere has the information I need to get started. Flipping the screen should probably be easy. (Hopefully heh)
Update
Haven't found anything too helpful as for the screen flip. Maybe I am looking in all of the wrong places? Tried Google-- got nothing, and maybe the forums use a certain term or something.
Maybe try to change picture size instead of screen flipin as the only big issue would be on screen buttons but should still work ?
If you still look for screen flip its basically the same screen same size an everything so instead of looking to flip change the location of them?
Sorry going off the few post with no pics or video of it

Sorry about that, I'll see if I can grab up a screenshot when I get home tonight.

Ha! And here I've been thinking this is a good camera that takes pretty dang good photos! I also thought it did zoom but mine was broken
It's not the worst camera out there. I do wish they had included a flash though. The Sidekick LX 2009 (last Danger HiptopOS version) had a flash.
Just out of curiosity did they kinda downgrade i guess world be the word the sk camera. I notice in alot of aftermarket camera apps it registers as being 4.9mp like the sgs

The photo saw in gallery is actually larger than what I saw in the camera app when taking it. That is, it contains more stuff outside the border of what I saw in the camera app. Hope you guys can understand what I mean and I do apologize if I didn't describe it clearly enough. Is that because I flashed the custom camera mod or the custom kernel? Does anyone have similar problem? Thanks.

its because the nexus 5 has a wide lense. its a feature, not a bug
The viewfinder and the picture have a different aspect ratio. So the viewfinder lies.
Hello everyone!
My question is rather simple, which applications do you use as an alternative to the stock camera app?
I would like to hear opinions of people who have tried more of them and decided in the end for something else than stock.
Maybe also list pros and cons for each.
Thank you very much for your help!

We use stock, so...why do you what to change it anyway?
It' s very good.
Thank you for your reply. Personally, for me it's the interface where I need to go into Settings for any adjustment. Moreover, HDR is limited only to 8MP. And more choice when it comes to scene modes would be nice.

In PlayStore you'll find some alternatives.
Some are paid apps, but just read the Description and the Reviews, to make up your mind.

Thank you for trying to help, however what I'm interested in are experiences of people with different apps. For example, I was recommended Manual Camera app which turned out to be quite useless without the new API being supported by this phone.
I use Camera FV-5 and like it best...tried some others (stock, a better camera, google camera) and for editing i like pics art...

I search for another camera app too. The stock camera app doesn't include effect for high res photo (8MP or more). Also, it doesn't produce vivid color like Samsung/LG G3 stock camera app. Up until now, i use Camera360 in its easy mode.
Very usefull, and i think its better in some aspect (like saturation and effect).
But i'm still looking for the best app.
Try Snap cam. I use it all the time. It takes great shots
I want to "improve" a little the quality of the camera, have an app or something to this?
Thank you.
