Hi all,
is there a place on our Android phones where I can set the DNS suffixes to change 'pc' and 'm' to 'pc.com' and 'm.com' for my inTRAnet only?
I've setup an inTRAnet at home using IIS 5.1 on Windows XP sp3.
I have NO server OSs available.
So NO DNS nor WINS server are avaialble.
All three of us at home have pcs. With a few more around the house.
I've setup each pc to use Simple DNS server to redirect 'pc.com' to my IIS 5.1 server. (via Preferred DNS server in Tcp/IP settings on each PC)
I also had to set the 'Append these DNS suffixes' in Advanced TCP/IP setting | DNS by adding 'com' on each PC to suffix
pc.com is where I have a web page for family notes, schedules, reminders, etc.
All three of us at home have Android phones.
I've setup each pc to use Simple DNS server to redirect 'm.com' to my IIS5.1 server. (again via Preferred DNS server in Tcp/IP settings on each PC)
My pcs take Advantage of the previously setup TCP/IP setting | DNS | 'com' to change 'm' to 'm.com.
m.com is where I have mobile formatted web pages for the same type of info.
I've set each mobile to use the Simple DNS Server using Wi-Fi Settings | advanced | DNS 1.
both pc.com and m.com work on all our mobiles.
is there a place on our Android phones where I can set the DNS suffixes to change 'pc' and 'm' to 'pc.com' and 'm.com' for my inTRAnet only?
Like I did on our PCs?
A hyperlink to a step-by-step process would be preferred as I have no experience in command level settings etc. on androids.
Or perhaps an Android app?
Thanks for your time reading this post.
And thanks in advance for any positive constructive and verbose assistance.
All my best,
Barry G. Sumpter
I'm not sure i understand your problem?
You could edit
"/system/etc/hosts"
to change what the addresses get resolved too.
Could set m and pc to be resolved to your servers intranet ip.
Thanks for the reply.
I've already changed the Hosts file on the android using the Android app:
Hosts Edit
But neither m nor pc are getting resolved to 192.168.1.6
Unless I'm not getting the entries correct:
Ip Address: 192.168.1.6
Host Entries: m
Ip Address: 192.168.1.6
Host Entries: pc
All android browser are just searching google for m or pc.
Any other suggestions from anyone?
Also, that list is absolutely huge!
about 10,000 entries. Exagerated.
I was trying to find my entries but gave up since there is no search on that app.

Probably they change so much android OS that SandroB is not compatible with it.
Alternative Solutions:
1. sandrob example:
market.android.com/details?id=org.sandrob.sslexample
2. sandrobproxy:
code.google.com/p/sandrob/downloads/detail?name=sandroproxy_0_9.apk
it can be changed in manifest that supports also 2.3.x
3. you can send libwebcore.so, then I can build Sandrob just for Cube U9GT-2
but it is a lot of tedius work and result is not always okey

We think it's the most complete server app on the Play store, but we would love to hear what you think of it. The trial version can be found on Android Play and is fully functional. The only difference between the trial and paid version is that in the paid version you can run more than two servers at the same time and it doesn't expire.
Download Servers Ultimate from Play
Or support us and use unlimited servers at the same time:
Download Server Ultimate Pro from Play
It would be appreciated if you leave a reply with what you (dis)like about the app! All feedback is welcome!
Beta testing

Server Ultimate Pack B

Server Ultimate Pack D
Server Ultimate Pack E
Server Ultimate Pack F
No feedback? It would be greatly appreciated if you could let me know what you think of it.
Thanks.
Runs nice! Will you be implementing php at all?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Great to hear it runs nice However, the only library available for php on android requires SL4A.
So depending on the requests we might implement it.
Also, no other features you are missing?
Really nice testing it today! That way you don't need a media share device for your Phone like my Galaxy S3. Just enable DLNA and you can stream it to the TV Hope it works that way
I will test this app later.
But can i stream videos or music from a device having this app installed to another?
Great you tink I could run ruby on rails here?

Thanks for the feedback!
@saschb2b That's correct, it works that way. Let me know whether it all works ok!
@mikelodean7 Yes, you can. You could use the webdav server or dlna server and on another client use a player that support webdav or dlna. Let me know whether that worked!
@haffid Unfortunately not, we don't support php or ruby on rails yet. We might implement php but ruby on rails will take a lot longer..
Let me know whether it worked, I'm really curious whether it all works ok.

I´ve tested the DLNA server option. very very easy to set, but i have to find the best DLNA player ( MediaHouse UPnP / DLNA-Browser worked perfectly)
now its running very smoothly. exactly what i was looking for weeks ago. thanks man!!!!
@mikelodean7 So you are playing media using another Android phone from the DLNA server? Great to hear that works. Maybe you could post a little description about it on the google play reviews.
How is everyone else using the app??
So anyone else using the app? Would be great to get some feedback or maybe a review on Play. Worked quite hard on it.
Looks pretty sweet! However I currently don't have a use for this... but I'd definitely be willing to pay for PHP support (Ruby would be awesome-er!) since I'm a web developer and am looking to take my environment on the go.
I just busted out my HTC Hero G3. I hope this works!
Installing on my Viewsonic G-Tab running Jellybean. Going to test running a small mailserver on it. Will let you know what I find.
@dekaru Since more people are asking for it, we'll look into it. But don't get your hopes up, it's quite hard to implement
@LPPalScore Let me know whether it worked!
@indymx Ah, let me know whether it worked! The mail server is quite simple, and if you have problems setting it up you can try the putty to check some raw commands. All the raw commands for smtp and pop3 should work.
Great to hear so many people enjoy using the app!

It doesnt save settings when adding servers, domain names & users.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
Could you please describe the steps you took and what Android version you have?
It should work doing the following:
1. click the add server button and select email server
2. fill in a name
3. press back and a popup should ask whether you want to save the settings
4. press yes and it shows up in the list of servers
5. if that works just edit it and add domains and users
And if you get the error that the port is in use you should press the button "Get random port" for the pop3 and smtp port.
Let me know!

It works fine on my Samsung Infuse.
I did all of that, and it just doesn't save anything. Not exactly sure what its doing wrong, but perhaps it's a permissions issue.
It's a G-Tab running TeamDRH version of CM10 (teamdrh.com)

So to be clear, the following does happen:
- When you add a server, fill in a name and press the back key a popup asks whether you want to save it.
- When you click yes you get back to the start screen and no server is listed?
Could you try going to the settings page of the app and check the option to save the server settings to the sdcard. Does that work?
And did you ever have problems with other apps?

> Query any DNS server
> Maintain your favorite DNS list easy
> Autocompete DNS query
DNSDig is a utility similar to UNIX dig or windows nslookup. You can query any DNS server from your server list to any DNS record. Choose DNS server from DNS server tab, enter host name or IP address and query server for records. Add servers you wish to list and DNSDig will save it across the sessions.
DNSDig saves last queries so you can use autocomplete feature while entering host name.
DNSDig also supports reverse DNS queries.
