Is xposed framework available for official roms? - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S Questions & Answers

Hello everyone!
I've never seen people talking about xposed here so that's why I posted this thread.
Just want to know if there's any solution to run xposed on official roms?
If not, is there any custom roms with xposed working?
Thanks.

AFAIK no xposed for now...there are only 2 types of rom, Xiaomi.eu roms and Stock MIUI roms, these are the official ones.
I used xposed only one time, when i had my Galaxy Note 3 and i wouldn't recommend it, because it slows down a lot phone's performance...but it's only my POV.
I used it for 1 or 2 days, and then flashed another rom, without xposed.
If i go for xposed, i would bet on Xiaomi.eu roms, because unless someone build MIUI roms from scratch and add a compatible xposed, hardly stock roms will run xposed.
But, with the new Android P, you'll have to wait for the developer to upgrade xposed application, and see if something comes up for MIUI roms.

I read in xiaomi.eu forum that we need to wait for a special xposed version because miui is too heavily modded to run normal xposed

Thanks for the information. There're many useful modules in xposed, they're what I want.
Maybe I should try the eu rom later.
Android P is a bit far away from now on

BTW do you know when the custom designed xposed for miui would be released? I searched similar information for mi mix and mi mix 2 but no result..
probably half of year?

I have no idea, I just repeated what I've read somewhere a few days ago.. Your only option for xposed is a treble Rom for now

[POLL] Stock with Xposed vs custom ROM

I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules. I was just wondering what everyone else prefers on their Note 3... Stock ROM with Xposed, or a custom ROM?
I have been using Slimkat on my Note 3 since I bought it. This week I might try out the stock ROM with Xposed to compare.

yes also
Same here, mostly running alexandr's ROM with lean kernel. Works wonders. But I can't understand why people buy this phone and flash aosp roms that turn the spen into a simple stick.
one of android best features to me ... is having a custom rom
but lately they all feel like stock with exposed enabled .... im still searching for a good rom to use everyday
rooted X-Note 3 knox 0X0
Stock rom with xpose especially Wanamp:good:
Tested lots of ROMs, if not all, that are available for the Nope 3. AOSP, TW based...
Best look, performance & speed - AOSP cannot be beaten here. And even if some FCs happened until I setup an AOSP, after that there's no hiccups, even on nightlies. Fire up ART runtime, and the speed gets to disgusting levels, but it's like a car, the faster you go, the more likely the crash.
Pure stock TW is ugly as hell, but coming from Samsung themselves, it's stable and everything works. And there ARE people who use the S-Pen every day. o.o
Also, it's probably the fact that I can't properly set up the kernel on AOSP, because the ugly slow TW gets me more battery life than AOSP. And I go tinkering with the kernel, and USB stops working, FCs, and other s**t. :/ I need to learn more on the topic, probably...
Currently, using Audax ROM with stock kernel.
make my own custom since i don't really use some of the function avail on other custom.
i vote for custom rom
when i am in stock note 3 the ported s5 apps doesnt work thats why i chose s5 ported roms as the note 3 dont get s5 apps or even the s5 uI samsung fault they dont care about there fans new phone produce throw your phone away cause you well get worse update - as i know 4.3 was better than 4.4.2 / 1-call record working without root - 2- camera performance better - 3- white keyboard - 4-not draining battery fast and ... a lot of things i may forget it dont forget the last update which introduce knox 2.0 which make towel-root useless - so tell me reasons not be in custom rom or you just stock with useless phone / i just losing faith with samsung update cause i know every update are getting even worse
I like using stock-based custom ROM with Xposed.

Thank you for the subject.
Personally, I prefer Stock because it's official and custom rom does not give you a big advantage over the original with Xposed, except with the custom I can not activate screen mirroring.

[HELP] To root or not to root

Hello,
I am using Nexus 5 on stock Android 6.0 Marshmallow (MRA58N).
I read that Xposed framework is finally working on 6.0 (as well as GravityBox).
So I decided to give a try, but I realized that I need to root my device first. Then I started reading about custom kernels. Then I started looking through all the great custom ROMs that are availble at XDA....
Which option is the best for now for Nexus 5? Are those custom ROMs really that good compared to stock 6.0?
So I can't make my mind, what should I do?
1. Stay on stock (bo-o-o-o-o-oring)
2. Root and install Xposed
3. Get a custom ROM
What I want - more customization, 100% stability, good performance, good battery.
Can you guys give me some advice?
P.S.: I have a lot of experience with custom ROMs, I installed a lot of that on my HTC Desire and even installed Android on my HTC Touch Cruise (that came with Windows Mobile). On my Nexus 5 I tried MIUI and I loved it, but every time I still comeback to the stock Android.
1 or 2 or a few layers roms like Chroma I guess (I didn't tried). CM based roms aren't stable enough for now.
Xposed and Gravitybox are at early stage so if you need 100% stability, stay on full stock.

what about battery life on custom roms or kernels? can you actually feel the difference?

Nope but you can feel it by using custom apps like Amplify.
Custom roms and kernels don't really help for battery life. FYI http://elementalx.org/the-truth-about-kernels-and-battery-life/

LineageOS 15.1 Treble Rom ?

Still unsure if I should buy Mi Mix 2S or Oneplus 6
For me a working LineageOS 15.1 ROM are essential. With Treble this should be working already but it's pretty quiet in ROM section.
Anybody has it running ?
https://www.xda-developers.com/qualcomm-snapdragon-845-kernel-source-code/
I guess devs are waiting for this to build device-specific roms.
Some users have reported treble working with some bugs.. And there wont be any device-specific roms until the sources appear on CAF. That will happen soon.
If you need a big developer community I would go for the 1+6, if not the 2s wins (at least for me) because no notch and maybe a better camera(still waiting for tests here)

Treble device development is discussed here, some people reported that treble roms on our phones are working fine with minor bugs (screen blinking on lock/unlock, no support for second camera). I am yet to test these, since my mix 2s is still awaiting bootloader unlock.

Have seen some relatively direct comparisons and the mix clearly has the better camera.
Im also keen to see a Lineage OS build but havent seen much discussion on it or heard any devs that are working on it. I have just onlocked and rooted my phone after waiting the 15 days.
I wonder when more Mi Mix 2s enter the global market, developers have waited 15 days to unlock phones and source code released from Qualcomm that we will see more activity on custom roms.
You can install lineage via treble right here https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...evice-development/lineage-phh-treble-t3767690

Yes, I am aware of that but certain features of the Mi Mix 2s do not work with this version (dual camera for example)

It took almost 6 months for the Mi Mix 2 to get decent, stable, bugfree custom AOSP roms. Now they have plenty. I guess we will just have to be patient.
Would be nice to get some custom MIUI roms in the meantime though

If you take a look here:
https://www.xda-developers.com/qualcomm-snapdragon-845-kernel-source-code/
You will know when it will be possible for devs to start working on our device
I'm new to this treble topic and have a few questions.
Those ROMs are intended to be flashed on ANY device being delivered with Android 8 or higher, right?
I read that some functions will not work as they are not a part of the treble environment. Can anyone tell me which parts of he phone this could on our model?
Has anyone already flashed the pixel experience rom on a Xiaomi MiMix2S? Will anything be broken? E.g. Bluetooth, WiFi, camera, storage?
The kernel is already published if I read that correctly, so it´s just a matter of time before any stock aosp roms will come to our devices, right? Can´t wait - and get rid of MIUI!
Need advice!
Best regards

Main features are all fine, you will find camera not great and 2nd camera not supported, most report treble ROMs having not great battery. But it will work.
M.
Thanks for the advice!
I think I'll wait for now until the Devs work their magic and publish a stable version with all the bells and whistles!
Is there any possibility to install a stock treble rom and install the camera APK afterwards? Would this work?

It will not work. The functionality of the camera is not just related to the APK but also depends on framework and libraries.

Flashed, but couldn't boot.
I flashed PHH-Treble 8.1 instead, still finding the MIUI camera or a workable Google camera.

What Stock-based ROM are you still using (2018)?

Just got a spare Z3, and since this device has been quite inactive on developments and such, the most preferred route is to stay stock for stability.
Now, I looked on our Android Development section and there seems to have a couple of stock-based ROMs which are good, and now, even in 2018, I was wondering what stock-based ROMs you guys are still using?
Any bias comments are welcome as long as it's spoken through experience. Also, a combination of Stock-based ROM a Custom Kernel would be nice to hear as well, if you use those.
Thanks guys for noticing~

Ever heard of OFFICIALLY supported
I use carbon Rom. It's supported officially.
And TWRP 3.2.1.0

Any ways to use cyberian camera on carbon oreo? Right now im using existenz on my z3c, everything is ok and it has tones of customizations i can recommend for z3 too. But the best rom for battery is still slimm rom. Whatever lets turn back to my question, only because it is not possible use cyberian cam on carbon oreo i will go for carbon nougat with xperia ui. Can you share your experience with snapdragon camera if you use oreo version?
i have djust used the default camera app that came preinstalled with the rom. as 3rd party apps arent as good as stock. And its really good enough.
and i dont like to use outdated roms still on 6.0 M
im a crazy chronic updater.

Hi,
I must say that I am surprised no Custom ROM has showed so far.
Unfortunately, it seems the device doesn't attracct devs that much... Maybe just an impression and a lot of work going on under the hood.

No, that's not it, exactly. The kernel source is incomplete, people are still trying to figure stuff out. But people ARE working on Kernel and LOS.
It's true we're not getting a huge tsunami of amazing dev's like the OnePlus 6, but it will happen soon. Also Pocophone may have promised to give phones out to some top XDA developers to help stimulate this.
Guys, how long has the phone been available to buy? Less than one month!

They have not made any rom for poco.but you still grab the rom for poco.just download the rom for mi8 and delete getprop line from first in updater script and flash in poco
Get many FC after a clean Flash for the new version on Xiaomi.eu..
Fix: To disable force close enable developer settings and scroll to bottom and disable "force-closed apps" to get rid of the annoying pop up msgs.
I really loved the ROM but many apps like playstore ,Google ,downloads, notes crash but the best part of the ROM is the touch is completely fixed ! Super snappy and latency feels really good. Hope they fix the force close issue soon cause i really cant wait to make this as my daily driver
