They just randomly start playing on my screen and I have to reboot to get rid of them.
So I am using fire os 5.6.1.0.
What are my options to wipe this device and install a custom Rom without fire os, say android something or other?
KFSUWI is what your app says I have
Right. so no responses aftyer a day.
No worries. I started a refund from amazon to take back their device. ill spend my money elsewhere.

Have been monitoring the few posts related to the Casio Commando. Have learned of the ability to root, freeze and remove. Netflix won't work, processor can't be OC'ed and no Super Hacks show any interest in developing this phone. It serves my purpose as a "Rugged" smart phone and I was aware of the hardware and software limitations prior to purchase.
So here is my question: Other than the ability to use the Commando for "Tethering", is there any other reason I should mess with this thing? Serious question.
Respectfully and Thanks.
I love my commando
My wife and I each bought a commando about 3 weeks ago and we love it. Hers is stock so far, while I am the guinea pig. I have rooted my GzOne and tethered it to my Asus transformer tablet with no problems. We both have Netflix loaded on the phone and it works fine, no jerky pictures. I watch TV shows while I commute on the bus. The speed and responsiveness - no complaints. I also like that it has Gorilla glass. I tend to just slide mine into my pocket and sometimes forget that change or keys are in it. So far no scratches.
Tethering and Netflix were my main requirements, so I am very happy. by the way if you are interested in buying it, don't go to a Verizon store, get it at wirefly.com - it is free plus free shipping, so save yourself $200. Also, if you let me, I can get $25 for each referral. We got our Blackberries there two years ago (free) too.

can the commando install .apk files? im trying to get my dad the music junk app for his phone and its being a pain in the butt. i personally have the EVO so everything is super easy to do on it...
Commando can do .apk.
I Need to know the method of getting into the bootloader. Selected to backup current rom in ROM Manager, and when I restarted it went into the bootloader, but couldn't get past warning triangle. No combination of buttons worked.
Of course, I didn't google it, but I couldn't find it here at XDA so thought maybe such information would help others here.
A custom recovery has been posted by getitnowmarketing on androidforums.com. The recovery does work but you still cannot boot into recovery from off, it has to be called from terminal emulator or adb.
I have googled my balls off and searched XDA but I have found surprisingly little info on how to get Amazon streaming video to work on the Infinity. I am an Amazon Prime member and when I signed up, I wanted to check out the streamed content. It works fine on the PC but I use my tablet more. I am running JB 4.1.1 and I have sideloaded the latest, though unofficially unsupported Flash player, but Amazon's Instant Video website still says I dont have it. I have tried several browsers and user agents. There is another forum on XDA discussing that and some are getting it to work (with some lag issues) and some, including me, are not. Even if it did, it would only be in low-res from the website. "HD compatible "only runs on certain devices (as if the Infinity can't handle HD). I bought my kids a Kindle Fire HD for Christmas, so I tried it on that and it ran great streaming Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol in HD very nicely. So it seems there should be an apk I can pull from it and load on the TF700, right? Both tablets are rooted, so I used Titanium Backup Pro to backup the Amazon video app from the KFHD and Dropboxed it to my TF700 and restored it. I ran it but it force closes; doesn't even initialize. Does anyone know how to get the app to work as it does on the KFHD? Or is it because the KFHD runs Android 4.0 and it just wont run on the TF700's 4.1.1? It is irritating not to be able to have this work on the Infinity and, if it can work at all, I want it in high-res, so I need it to run as if it was a KFHD. I am still playing with it but any ideas?
Is it only prime users who have this service? Are you rooted or unlocked at all?
I have had no problem streaming amazon video on my Infinity. I'm rooted/unlocked and on CROMI. I paid for a few episodes of "Breaking Bad" I wound up having to buy them again through google play however. The streaming worked perfectly through Amazon however it would not let me download for offline playing unless I was on an actual Kindle. Google Play allowed for offline downloads so I stuck with that. To answer your question though, streaming from Amazon worked well for me.
I just tried it for the first time, TF700 totally stock, Flash side loaded, Amazon Prime member, it played Upstairs Downstairs using the stock browser just fine.

I am rooted. I have not unlocked the bootloader and dont plan to. I have no luck with various browsers, even playing with permissions. My kids KFHD play HD vids really well. I think it is a combination of "stock" apps but IDK which ones.

I got the standard def with the stock browser at least. Idk why I got "flash is missing" on the others. I just cant get the Amazon Instant Video app to run as on the KFHD though. I cant pin down what I am missing, unless its bc I run the latest version of android, which the app doesnt support. Maybe its just that but Idk how to find out.
I have been using a STOCK pixel (purchased from verizon), running the latest os release, set up device as new and have downloaded a few dumb apps from the app store (basic ones like instagram and twitter, candy crush etc), have been MAINLY using 'cookie jam' which is a pretty basic candy crush style app, and within the minute of me starting to play it the frames load s l o w, like i am over loading my gpu! I have to close the app and start it again then the same behavior reappears, nothing is running in the background (user accessible, since I have NOT tinkered with this device at all). I am using about 20 per cent of my total storage so, really have no idea what the deal is, specially since this app is pretty, well, dumb (but I love it!). I experience this behavior (since I have had the phone in my possession) mainly on cookie jam and a little in candy crush but again, I do N O T play any other games (for now).....
Please advise
=)
p.s. I have deleted then re installed the app to no avail, I am thinking this app is not 'optimized' for this version of android but, since its requirements are so low I am thinking I might have to do something else.....
Enough with the nonsense of this $800 device that does not perform up to industry standards out of the box. Unable to tinker with this since it is my daily driver. RETURN! ((or I could wait months (since I am FULL time employed and run a household full of kids)until I am able to finish up code to make this POS excel at basic functionality, hhhhmmmmmmmm, NOPE)). Return, return, returned!

LOL nothing wrong with the device or GPU, I play crap load of games and its flawless. It was either your device or the apps you are using. This is easily the best performing Android phone ever.

a few months later but still worth me saying that yeah, I dont think there was anything wrong with the hardware, mainly the only game that I have time to play is so low level that would not play properly on this device.... I was going to let it go until it got optimized but I couldnt bear the mono audio from the dinky speaker so yeah, patience-less I
ended up returning......
anywho, for what its worth...
:good:
For the hell of it, I installed the "game" not sure what your problem is with it, runs fine and fast here
I'll preface this with, I don't have it in my hands yet...
My mom wants a larger screened tablet and is a Prime Video subscriber so I grabber her an HD 10 tablet during the Prime Day sales. I'll be getting her Shield K1 as a swap. I really mainly use my old Dell Venue 7 tablet as a reader, Netflix/Youtube streamer, and maybe a few random games. I don't even know what the nvidia games stuff is about and I likely don't need any of it.
That being said, I would want to be able to utilize the HW acceleration so I've read that if I do not go with stock I'd need to stick with a 14.1 or earlier Linieage type ROM. I also have read that battery life is an issue...
So with all of this in mind am I better off just Factory Resetting this thing and getting it as up to date as possible or would I be better off with Lineage or a custom ROM to get the most out of the battery? It would be nice if I could stream a Netflix movie without being plugged in. Is 2ish hours of video even possible on these things?
Thanks!
This is with Lineage 14.1. Not shown is this is after 5 hours of screen on time. I have an LTE version, but no SIM card so it's in airplane mode, connected to wifi. YMMV
You won't get anything close to this with stock.

That seems fairly decent I suppose... are you using the Lineage straight from the source and if so have you been using OTA updates from them?
Thanks,
gmO
Yes. I started with the download obtained from the Lineage thread and then have been installing the weekly updates via the updater. It works well for me.
i want to use as a sonos controller....
and i may get another just for a ring camera feed?
Not yet, but the way everything's going with working Magisk, TWRP, and software roots, I expect within the coming months probably.
