s930fd in Australia - do I need to flash? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi,
I bought an s930fd from Hong Kong to use in Australia on the Telstra network. Currently it has:
PDA/AP Version G930FXXS1DQHM
CSC Version G930FOJV1DQEB
MODEM/CP Version G930FXXU1DQE8
Region XSG — United Arab Emirates
I don't care about the dual SIM feature. Also, the phone will eventually be flashed to Lineageos 15.1 so I won't be using OTA upgrades.
Do I need to flash to:
PDA/AP Version G930FXXS2DRCF
CSC Version G930FTEL2DRBA
MODEM/CP Version G930FXXU2DRAC
Region TEL — Australia
for it to work on the Telstra network? Or could I use:
PDA/AP Version G930FXXS2DRCE
CSC Version G930FXSA2DRAC
MODEM/CP Version G930FXXU2DRAC
Region XSA — Australia
which I assume has all the right modem information and other settings to work in Australia on any network?

You don't need to if you don't want to, since internationally most networks work the same.
Mine was also originally from UAE, the firmware it came with it worked fine with Optus without any additional flashing. I'm now on the UK BTU because it's what my custom ROM came with and it's also fine.
I would say go with XSA if you're going to flash since that's the unbranded firmware and should work on all Aus networks, but won't come with Telstra bloatware.
The main benefit for carrier specific is carrier specific features like VoLTE.

OK. Given Telstra runs VoLTE, then does XSA provide it or do I need to go to the specific TEL flash?
Cheers

I think you need the TEL flash, as far as I know VoLTE settings are carrier specific

s7- 930fd

Hello seniors
i got a s7 box and model no. shown in settings is sm-g930fd with baseband -G930FXXU1APEQ,
and in the phone info app
PRODUCT CODE: SM-G930FZDUXSP
PDA VERSION: G930FXXU1APEQ
CSC VERSION:G930FOLB1APEQ
BASEBAND VERSION: G930FXXU1APEQ
ANDROID VERSION : 6.0.1
i assume as per device seems either of Thailand, Vietnam or Cambodia
but the App says Singapore and model as SM-6930F
Anyways I am in India, but want to use a network which works only with VoLTE, but when I try to activate it it says VoLTE is not supported by your current software version. So seeking help regarding changing region Rom shall solve my issue and if it does , which country variant would best suit for me (preferably India, not an issue if any country variant supports VoLTE).
Expecting expert advise on how to update to another country variant Rom, or any other thing could solve the issue.
thanks
Amit

Switching Firmware on Galaxy S8+

Today I tried switching my s8+ which is an Italian unlocked model (ITV) to a United Kingdom unlocked firmware (BTU). I followed all the steps as this is not my first time flashing firmwares with Odin. I found a thread online saying that since BTU is a multi CSC , I need to flash a ROM that's is outside the multi CSC , so I decided to flash a O2 ROM , straight after flashing the BTU hoping that it would change the CSC , but it didn't instead it stood on ITV, the country/region is still on Italy too. Can anyone explain what I done wrong pls ?
Why do you even care about csc ? Install rom for your coutry "global", not branded soft and that's all...
BTU is not branded, it's unlocked with no carrier. Updates are also provided directly from Samsung. I would like to change the ROM for faster updates and features

So according to what I read it's impossible to change the CSC to BTU on the Galaxy s8 unless you have a UK Sim. This used to be possible on the s7.

But NOT possible anymore on the S8/S8+
ITV & BTU are both part in OXM. When you flash BTU-ROM, your device will stay ITV because both are in OXM...

Yes, S7 didn't use the multi-CSC, each region had it's own CSC.
But the Euro S8 has Multi-CSC, so it won't change region until you put in a SIM from that new region.
Thanks guys for helping. I just wanted to change the CSC for quicker updates and for region specific features like Bixby Voice when it gets released in the UK.

Flash a different ROM into SM-G9550

I bought an unlocked S8+ from a website. It is from Hong Kong, dual SIM, the model number is SM-G9550. I am using it in Australia. Now there are two things that I cannot do with it - VoLTE and Samsung Pay. Also the Android 8.0 upgrade is still unavailable for SM-G9550, which is crazy. All mobile carriers in Australia has pushed Oreo upgrade but I cannot get it.
If anyone can help me with my questions here:
1) Can I flash an Australia firmware to my handset? If it is possible, do I have to root it?
2) If it can be flashed with an Australia firmware, is the dual SIM feature still available? I ask because all phones sold in Australia (except those on website and apparently overseas version as mine) the dual SIM feature is banned/locked because the telecom companies don't want to allow competition, and ACCC (the consumer council) is just a puppet.
3) If it can be flashed with Australia firmware, can I turn the VoLTE on? At the moment, it cannot be turned on as there is no such an option in the Settings.
Thanks in advance!
I'm sorry to tell this, but you simply can't flash anything other than the chinese software on this phone. There are two CSCs available for the g9550 which apparently are CHC (open China) and TGY (Hong Kong) according to updato. Both aren't on Android 8 and I'm not sure if they ever will be.
So:
1) No you can't. Australian providers make their software for the australian model (which is the international) G955F.
2)-
3)-
So to look the truth in its face:
You might be better of selling this phone and buying the international g955F, which is compatible with australian firmware. alternatively there is the G955FD, which is dual sim, but (i just googled for 2 minutes so could be wrong) there also is no official australian firmware. What you can do with the g955F/FD is rooting, which could perhaps give you the possibility to flash an australian CSC to the FD, if you really are thinking about buying one, someone could sure give you the answer to if its possible or not

It will never work properly here (UK) as it's Qualcomm snap dragon and it was build for a different region.
You can attempt to install different firmware from UK or EU but it's really just luck if you get it to work or not.
To get wifi calling to work you will need to flash unbranded firmware, either BTU (UK) or XAS (USA). Even when you flash US unbranded as i said earlier it will not be fully functional in this region as it does not have the required hardware.

Yes if you want to use it in the UK.
Carriers in the US, T Mobile (US), Vodafone (US) etc DO NOT use the same connection standard as Vodafone, T mobile, UK. It is essential you understand this. There is no advantage to flashing UK network branded firmware, unbranded will give you all available connection options but not 100%.

I will give it a go. Do you know where I will find the filmware? been looking but can't find it
SamFirm tool is a good way to get the most recent firmware files from samsung servers directly.
Otherwise it's firmware rehosts like sammobile or updato

BRI to XSA

Does anyone know if its possible to convert Taiwan BRI firmware to Australian XSA firmware?
I'd like to use the Australian version of Samsung Pay and use 5G, as it does not work on my phone.
Thanks.
Nope, wrong model phone.
You can flash N9860 only CSCs
