Speaker is very tinny - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

Does Viper4Android fix this? If so, what profile is everyone using?
Thanks

That is the profile I am using for speaker at the moment.

Thanks, I haven't rooted yet but when I do I will give this a try. :good:

Has anyone else got any profiles they recommend or a guide for how to use Viper4Android?
Turning on speaker optimisation totally deals with the tinniness - but it makes it sound muffled...

I downloaded the .XML file above and placed it under /Viper4Android/Speaker_test/.
I had to create the speaker_test directory. But after that, I opened Viper4Android and loaded a custom profile and it was under the list as Speaker_test.

Thank you. I'm a bit of a stickler about sound quality. It took a while before it was sounding good to me. I do the same for my vehicle and different headphones/speakers I have.

Any reason the headset might stop working?

I recently switched from CM10 to JellyBam version 5.2. It is running Android 4.2.1. Ever since I installed it (and I've tried re-flashing it twice) the audio is only coming out of the main speaker and not the headphone jack. Does anyone know why this would happen?
Update:
It seems to not be recognizing the headphones at all. When I set it to make the phone silent when I plug in headphones nothing happened.

If you check that thread you'll see that there are problems routing sound to the headphones in this release.....ther's also a suggested fix as well.

I see that a permanent fix is on it's way through some code change. Others report that app works for them, hope you have the same experience.
It foes work... However the auto detect wasn't working for me... When I use headphones I had to set it that way
.. Using the speaker I had to set it to speaker... Its not jumping through hoops as its just checking an option. But it does indeed get the job done

Voice recording with Χperia L

Hi,
I would like to record an upcoming meeting. I have download some apps but all of them have the same issue. Unless I put my mouth in front of the mic, the recording is not audible. Is this something I can fix? Is this a problem with the device (ver. 4.2.2).
(My phone is new.)

[Q] Bluetooth Audio a bit low?

Hey guys,
Recently switched from wired headphones to wireless Bluetooth ones and am noticing that the volume is significantly lower via Bluetooth audio. I am using the Google play music app. The music is a bit louder when streaming etc but its about 75% of what i would want the max to be when using google music. Anyways to adjust this setting? Maybe something in the mixerpaths.xml for Bluetooth audio?
Thanks!

Have a look at divine beats thread or any other sound mod thread,if it says that it works with Android O then okay but if it doesn't then you'll have to live with it until the developers release sound mods for Android O.

Yes,fix somewhere lies in that file itself and I guess with a little google search you'll be able to find the solution which includes modifying that file.

Tried Google and XDA extensively. No dice.
Edit: they have a bunch of stuff but only to fix speaker and wired headphones volume. Not for Bluetooth.

[MOD][Magisk][Oreo / Pie] Dual Speaker Mode for N5X systemlessly

Update: Tested and working on Pie also
About
This Module uses the Mixer file from this thread: [Mod] SURROUND SOUND
I just created a systemless module for Magisk
Code:
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included.
Nexus 5X has 2 speakers but one is limited for calls only...
So this module enables the earpiece for media and your call speaker will work as secondary speaker
Perfomance
I've tested it on latest stock 8.1.0 (OPM7.181005.003, Oct 2018) & working without any problem or distortion in sound
Call sound is not affected by this mod as it only enables the earpiece while playing media ( video, audio, ringtone, etc )
Download
Google Drive
Installation
* Magisk Version required: 17.0 above
1. Download the Dual Speaker Mode for N5X zip from GDrive or from attached file here
2. Flash through the Magisk Manager App or through latest TWRP
Uninstallation
Just flash the module zip again from either Magisk Manager app or TWRP...

The speaker at the buttom sounds louder but nothing important.
Also, the first speaker has distortion but I think it's because of my kernel.
I put 2 to speaker gain.

Hello again.
I'm having troubles. I'm a rock and metal guy mostly so when I listen to some songs the principal guitar, specially in solos, sounds so quiet and the second guitar sounds louder.
I know this isn't from the song because i tested in other device and my PC too.
Do you anything about this? Any settings or something?
I put the gain in 0 again to test.

Basically the ear piece speaker is small, has lower sound than primary media speaker and is only for calls. We enabled it for media also but the sound can never be equal to the primary speaker
Unfortunately it's not a pure stereo experience like Nexus 6P

I found this thread. I really don't know if works with October patch and right now I don't have enough time to fix a bootloop.
Could you take a look and see if you can do something?
I don't want to be rude or ask for an ETA.

Q|| Good audio enhancement app without root?

Hi all,
I have my OP6 256GB for about 4 months now.
Sound with earphones is OK but I want it to be better.
I saw there are some solutions out there (V4A, Ainur), but if I'm not mistaken all of them require root.
I'm not interested in rooting at the moment.
Is there a decent solution without rooting?
Any help would be highly appreciated!
Thanks

Try PowerAMP or Neutron Music Player, those two apps have their own DSP and can be set up to your liking. They work without root, but cost a buck or two.

Hi, thanks a lot for the suggestion.
Actually I bought PowerAMP years ago and been using it a lot, but lately, I'm primarily using Spotify so it's no longer an option..
Any other suggestions?

PowerAMP is buggy for DAC lossless audio. I tried Neutron Player and it's amazing. You really notice an improvement but you need to play with the settings to increase bits - codec - etc. Really nice app.
