Enrolled in the google beta program but I'm not getting the ota for my pixel 2. It's been 72 hours. I got the ota for my pixel c within minutes. Anyone know how to force the ota or something?
It appears that people on the November security patch for 8.0 are not getting the 8.1 beta OTA pushed to them. Most likely need to wait for DP2 at this point.
Hopefully the preview 2 comes out soon.
I just signed up a few minutes ago, refreshed the system update screen on my pixel 2, and the update popped right up

Did the novembver security patch require any weirdness to get? I only ask because while i'm not sure if I had that installed, I do know for sure I had all of the most current OTA updates. I got the phone from Best Buy last Thursday and there was a software update when I first booted it. I check for new software this morning and it told me I was up to date. I then proceeded to sign up for the beta program, refreshed the update page that said I was up to date, and the 8.1 update was waiting for me

Some people didn't get November update and i read somewhere that they pulled the 8.1 preview for pixel 2 , that's why I'm asking.

If it makes you feel any better I am in the same situation. 4 days no OTA. I am on the November Security patch.
Is it worth it to try flashing factory images to get back to September and then try to get the beta OTA?
I can confirm rolling back to September images does allow you to immediately get the prompt to download the 8.1 beta.
If you are impatient like me, it's worth a shot.
I will add this: Make sure your ADB and Fastboot are up to date! I ended up softbricked/stuck in the bootloader for awhile after flashing back to the September images. I finally figured out my old version fastboot was the problem. After getting the latest fastboot/adb it was a breeze.

I have standard Pixel 2 with Magisk installed (for thethering restrictions bypass). I finally got around to getting OTA from July to August one. So got Android 9. I followed the OTA update guide for Magisk. Everything got installed, but now it keeps saying my phone is up to date. Even thought it's still on August Security patch. Anyone else experienced this?
I can just download rest of the patches manually and side load, but I rather avoid doing it.

Were you on the beta update program for P. If so have you opted out? I had to opt out before I got this month's update. Didn't realise you had to do this.

yesterday I received a ota update.
new security patch level is 1 feb 2019
the update size was only 310MB.
nothing has changed
but I think optical image stabilisation is added for camera, and some minor camera changes.
mind you, this is not android one update.
my phone is A750FN
its a security patch with some fixes for front cam

The same with me. And I had to put back a backup, because I got a problem with Magisk. So I will not install this December update.
(I rather would like to see some form of Lineage on our phone, to get rid of all kinds of apps I do not want to install on my phone.)

There is AOSP if you want clean android
In Slovakia (Europe) there is no update till now. I have the newest from November.
android pie beta programm ended just yesterday in India so official one ui might be less than a week away atleast in india.

Hi, I thought you were right. But actually there *is* a new 1 feb update that I already put on my phone. The phone will not recceive it ota, but you can install it using ODIN. Sammobile.com is a good source. I downloaded the Dutch version from there (I had another good source to check for the correct file) Sammobile is horrifyingly slow though.... You will need a couple of hours to download. And in fact it took me several hours too to get my phone back in order.

Just got the Update from 0.672 to 2.1
It increased quite a bit... will update with screenshot when it's done.
But the patch was only around 76mb in size. So i don't expect more than security update.

I am looking to download this firmware version 52.1.A.2.1 so I could flash it with flashtool (I'm on 0. 672) I'm using a customized US firmware, I have been checking for OTA updates but I've got nothing.
Edit 1: I got the firmware in Xperifirm and installed it but the bugs I was experiencing didnt get fixed.

I wanted to get Android 11 early so upon first beta release, I installed it. I had tons of troubles (like everyone else) and ultimately had to wipe my phone, which fixed many issues. I still have a few super annoying ones but it's mostly usable. I'm now on OP7Pro_02_Beta_4 and have been waiting for further fixes for months! My wife has the same phone and apparently at some point she got the Android 11 update (non beta) which I didn't know was pushed. Her phone is very stable with no issues.
Why the heck is my phone still on a broken and very much beta version when the stable release is out? I'm assuming my beta 4 is an earlier release than my wife's 11.0.1.1? I assumed my phone, getting beta releases, would end up on a stable version, but now I'm thinking it will only ever get beta updates? How are you supposed to compare beta vs regular release and how do I get back to a stable version? I'm guessing a wipe is the only way?
Lastly, does anybody recommend rooting this phone? I've ALWAYS rooted previous phones but I've been happy with the (mostly) bloat free unrooted OnePlus phones.
You get beta updates on the beta channel, stable updates on the stable channel. It's that simple.
You can upgrade to the latest stable using the inbuilt system updater itself. Your data will be wiped only if the firmware you're currently on has a security patch newer than the firmware you're going to upgrade to. I think you probably have March security patch on OB4 and 11.0.1.1 has May security patch, so you won't lose your data while switching.
I have had root access on my 7 Pro since day 1. I wouldn't recommend it unless you really need it. I just use a magisk module to change my font style to Google Sans. Then I use GravityBox for some statusbar and lockscreen tweaking. I also use Swift Installer for a proper dark (black) theme system wide.
