Bluetooth audio quality - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

Hey guys,
I was using a oneplus 3T in combination with the Bose QC35 headphones, the stock quality was extremely poor compared to the audio of an iphone (bluetooth connection).
With the use of v4a (root) or MusicFX (non-root) I was able to tweak the audio quality to a reasonable level.
I´m currently using a OP6 running android P, build PKQ1.180417.001, and again the stock bluetooth audio is poor. The MusicFX app does not work anymore.
What would be the best way to improve the bluetooth audio quality, or is the next update expected to introduce an audiotuner (With Bluetooth support) on the OP6 with android P.
Thanks in advance!

I'm using oos 5.1.5 with b&o beoplay h7 and Poweramp beta.
This setup supports aptx which improves audio quality. Also going for the beta of Poweramp is recommended, lot's of quality Options

Thanks for the reply, many people use Poweramp and the quality is better however the Poweramp equalizer cannot be used with Spotify..

Did you try to change the Bluetooth audio profile in developer options?

The QC35 only supports AAC and SBC, I tried both of them but there doesn't seem to be much difference. Aptx hd is unfortunately not supported by the QC35..

I use Op6 with Sony mdr100abn and Ldac is working. Bluetooth sound quality for me is better like on Note8.

Is there no workaround for this Poweramp issue, I mean the MusicFX not working? It even works on my cheap Xiaomi X4 so whats up?

Search the XDA forums for "MixerMod v100 boosted" & "ViPERAtmos_5.5_Sony_Beats_Edition".
The mixer mod uses the ear piece as a secondary speaker, thus creating a stereo effect.
The Viper mod is totally crazy, it has V4A, Dolby Atmos, Sony X-Loud & HTC Beats. All software and libraries rolled into 1 package.
I've flashed both the mods on my merlin, if correctly configured, the extreme loudness using the stereo speakers and depth of bass using headphones is amazing.

Oreo beta and APTX-HD

Could someone confirm whether or not the enhanced APTX-HD codec that is standard in Oreo works is available in the Samsung Oreo beta? And does it work?
It is available in the developer options indeed, but it doesn't seem to work yet
No seperate qualcom chip needed?
I thought it needed a seperate chip to actually work and that is why AptxHD is not found in most pre-Oreo devices. (Except the V30 for example)

Can you explain what it is please?
APTX is an extension to the Bluetooth SBC stack, supported by a Qualcomm chip, and provides higher bandwidth (higher quality) to wireless audio devices. This APTX stack has recently evolved into APTX-HD, which essentially is an improvement on the original APTX codec. There is a new generation of headphones and other devices that now also supports APTX-HD (For instance the Bowers & Wilkins PX or Sony WH-1000XM2 headphones). They sound awesome on the LG G6 that already supports APTX-HD in Android 7. APTX HD however is a default add-on in Oreo. So I was wondering whether Samsung has allowed that codec in their implementation of Oreo.
Yes I was about to buy an S8 but really want the aptx HD option.
Any news on this please?

Only LDAC is a default add-on which WILL be present in the Oreo update. Aptx-HD still requires licensing fees and MIGHT be present in the Oreo build.

That's because Sony has licenced *Google* (for free) to use LDAC codec in Oreo on *any* phone (it used to work only on Sony phones).
APT-X HD is Qualcom proprietary codec. LDAC & APT-X HD are very close in terms of quality.
Can't wait for Oreo to come out to get some LDAC goodness on may Sony 1000xm2 headphones.

For me sound on headphones is low especially in apps where sony's sound system does not work, for example youtube.
I've always found the sound superb and plenty loud enough. I've not come across anyone saying the headphones are too quiet before.
Atmos is diesigned to give you extra dimension to suround sound encoded audio, if anything it will make standard stereo playback seem even quieter as it tries to project 3D into some 2 channel headphones.
Have you considered upgrading your headphones?
How you will use Atmos?
The only situation, where Atmos make sense, if you stream something via Hdmi over an AV Receiver (which can handle Atmos and also the loudspeakers are connected; this means min 5.1 plus Atmos LS ==min 8 Loudspeakers)
Atmos make, in my opinion, no sense with a headset....

When you plug in headphones or connect with Bluetooth, go to the settings app/Sounds & Vibration/Dolby Atmos settings. It's there, called "Earphone Adjustment".
