Aptx support on Rn5 Pro/Global is questionable. Even though the developer options lists audio codecs, aptxhd, aptx, it's not working. It lists all supported codecs for the device but when a certain codec is used, it reverts to system default.
This is what catlog shows when an aptx compatible headset is plugged in.

The above fig shows that aptx is not present in the rom. When you connect headphones or devices with aptx, only aac or sbc codec works.
Aptx is now used when Aptx headset is connected and now "developer" menu also displays Aptx codec without reverting to aac or sbc.
Due to the special firmware for Redmi Note 5 Pro / Note 5 China patches from the AptX ™ HD Bluetooth Hi-Res Audio Codec doesn't work. So this patch is developed on new codecs used in MI note 3.
Installation - Flash the zip in twrp. Perfectly working on 9.5.11 Global stable.
The activation patch aptx and aptxhd is only for Redmi Note 5 Pro / Note 5 China. It should theoretically work on all firmwares.
I don't have Bluetooth headset with me to test the patch, please share your results if this works for you.

LDAC is currently not supported. Some say MI is waiting for Qualcomms official driver in mi forums. Even MI Mix series doesn't have ldac support. Other than waiting there's no other solution. I'll look for a patch in the meantime.

I still can't find an app that can convert audio on the device itself.
Even on Symbian there was this app called AudioCube which can convert MP3 to AAC and etc.
With our powerful Pocket PC's today with 528 mhz - 1 ghz cpu's it shouldn't really be a problem. I often download music (mp3's) with Pocket G2 and I wish I could convert into AAC directly on the device.
Just check out what AudioCube for symbian can do even on old devices as the Nokia N73!!!:

interesting idea, but because most media software now plays many formats the need for conversion is generally redundant.
Converting to AAC (HE-AAC v2) is a great way to save space and it still sounds great trough headphones...

Why choose the Walkman and not Viper or Noozy?Walkman chose because there are no unnecessary items and settings regarding the sampling of audio.
