Full-Encrypt P20 is possible ? - Huawei P20 Questions & Answers

Hello, I have a question about the P20 and more generally the EMUI (Huawei / Honor). On all my previous Android devices (Galaxy S5, Nexus6P, Shield Tablet K1), I could completely full-encrypt my device.
But since I have my P20, I can't find anywhere the option to do this action (full-encrypt) on EMUI.
Despite several searches on XDA-developers forum, I also did not find the answer. It mean EMUI (Honor/Huawei) doesn't support this feature (it is a joke ?)
And the Huawei customer service does not answer on this subject. Is the device natively full-encrypted, or is this operation impossible to perform on all Huawei smartphones ?
Best Regards,

Huawei Mate 8 Multi-User profiles

Hi I wanted to know if the mate 8 has android multi user profiles available and if not is it possible to activate them ?
Only thing stopping me from getting this phone

Any possibility to use pen on the tablet //

Hello everyone,
I got the huawei m5 tablet but it seems it does not support pen functionality (probably you know already).
Is there any news that this functionality can be added via some system update or so? Or this will not happen?
Regards
You can use Adonit Dash (or any other active stylus) with no problem. But no way for advanced pens with pressure sensing (and palm rejection).

I think the m5 and m5 pro have slightly different hardware so probably wont be able to use a proper smart pen on the standard m5
The M5 Pro has an additional layer over the screen for use with the stylus. But reports say text, icons etc have a blurred look because of this. Its why I went for the standard 10.8 instead of the Pro

guest / extra account modus

Dear all,
I have a question about smartphone use(ers)
We have a number of smartphones here, the Huawei P9 Lite / P20 Lite which have the latest update on Android 8 / EMUI8.0.0.
But sometimes these phones are delivered back to us with an FRP and the user is no longer present in the meantime at the company.
So now we want to come up with something that we no longer have the FRP (Google FRP) '' preferably free '' Because enterprise solutions such as MobileIron, we do not really have much money for the company at the moment.
Are there solutions where the end user does not use the 'core account' but has a kind of guest account.
Because I know that Google has '' guest modes '', but I cannot find these types of solutions on the phones that we have that do not have FRP.
someone who can give tips?
I only get to see '' Android 5 '' on Google, not really specific to our devices.

It doesn't matter what is your Huawei device but what is your EMUI (4, 5, 8, 9 or 10) and if 8, then what is your Security Patch month (both you can read from Settings/System/About)?
So, if you are 'lucky' that you did not update your Mate 9, and you are still on EMUI 8 (Oreo) with Sec. Patch 06/2018 or earlier, or even on EMUI 5 (Nougat) or 4 (MarshMallow) then you can buy it easily for 4-5 EU from DC Unlocker or Ministry of Solutions, as in the good old days:
https://www.dc-unlocker.com/
https://ministryofsolutions.com/paid-services
But if you are on EMUI 9 (Pie), or EMUI 8 but with Sec. patch 07/2018 or later, then the complications begin...
So, if your Huawei device is on EMUI 8 with Security Patch 07/2018 or later, or EMUI 9 (or 9.1) – don't know how about just coming EMUI 10, then get prepared that you will have to:
Phisically open your device.
Find and watch few YouTube demonstrations (each one can give another small but useful trick).
iFixit has also reliable guides for all sorts of devices, e.g. this one is for Mate 9 (you will not need to remove battery as shown at the end):
https://jp.ifixit.com/Guide/Huawei+Mate+9+Battery+Replacement/101289
You will also need to shorten the Testpoints pins (that's why you need to open the back-cover), attached are photos for Mate 9
Putting all this in advance because some people might be concerned about (risk of damaging while openning, or bricking with Testpoints, etc) – better to know before going to pay for the software resources that will be needed then
Then you have two options:
Join the Telegram channel: https://t.me/joinchat/MtyvC0TmAuRnwZ0cimIEag
and follow their instructions – you will need to schedule an appointment with the engineer
It will cost cca 30 EU (depending on PayPal conversion), and the engioneer will ned to obtain TeamViewer remote access to your PC – of course, you will have to open device and shorten the Testpoints yourself
Formally, you only pay to the 3rd party provider for some BLK code (at the very beginning of the process, before opening the phone), and the rest they help you for free
Ministry of Solutions had a similar solution, with TestPoints, and flashing by remote access via TeamViewer (not sure is it still valid), but for 45 EU
Second option is only applicable to Huawei devices for whom the older firmwares with Nougat or Oreo (Security Patch 06/2018 or earlier) exist – hence, applicable for Mate 9 but not e.g. for Mate 20.
By shortening with Testpoints you clear off the firmware, hence you have the ability to rollback to that old Nougat or Oreo (06/2018 or earlier) – then you are under the conditions from the previous post and you can obtain BL code for mere 4 EU.
You cannot rollback to that old EMUI 5 (or EMUI 8 06/2018) without Testpoints because of differences between their old XLoader and the new XLoader in EMUI 9 or EMUI 8 (07/2018 and later) – rolling back by DLOAD or other means will cause brick, and you will again need Testpoints to repair the brick
Doing TestPoints on your own might be cheaper but you will have to collect info from TestPoints method guides (maybe for for other Huawei devices – search on XDA), or there is also a guide for Mate 9 but maybe a bit outdated:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/help/solution-19-00-fix-hardbricked-huawei-t3750315

https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80332221&postcount=278
You might need to pay for bord image (to be flashed upon Tespoints), it depends where you buy and for how much (or if you can get it for free from somebody who purchased for himself, or who has annual subscription or so), hence your milleage can vary
Unlike in the case (a), the Testpoints methods you will find require to use Linux for flashing the board image (you can also use a Virtual Machine to run Linux), another potential hurdle
If you make it, you could be proud to post to XDA your own guide for Mate 9, EMUI 9 – and to help to the others
There is also Funky Huawei or Chimera, don't know they operate, but their services cost more (they are good for people who repair phones to buy kind of unlimited licences to their resources)
First link is in German but if you use Chrome it will automatically translate to the language of choice:
https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/...-einer-firmware-ueber-funkyhuawei.873001.html
https://chimeratool.com/
However, you can still do useful modding without TWRP, root, custom ROMs - that is, without the need to unlock Bootloader, see:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/help/modding-removing-bloatware-blocking-ads-t3971297
They served us the buggy and slow 9.1 and blocked us the option to do the obvious. The reason why Android is Android.
This is vagrancy.
Very soon I will replace my Mate 9. I have been bored of 9.1 bugs, and I have lost time setting my phone from the start because of a factory reset I done. Which of course didn't fix nothing. I used to like Huawei but now I am done with them. Because they try to be ''Apple'' with Android. And not only them to be honest.

ARCore support

Please could anybody test if ARCore is supported for Poco F2 pro?
Just try to install ARCore from google play.
There is only Redmi K30 on compatibility list from google there:
https://developers.google.com/ar/discover/supported-devices
Thanks.
Play services for vr is installed on my device. Not sure what to do now and I can install Google vr service thing. I don't have a headset though anything else I can check for you?
Poco F2 Pro is compatible with all AR and VR services from Google.
Thanks both of U.

Ah sorry, I must have missed that check when I said that last time. It seems depth API is not currently supported on the Poco F2 Pro.
We'll have to wait and see if they bring support for it.

Thanks for your answer !
So google list about depth compatibility is up to date ?
I've seen an article about depth for allmost phones with a single camera, so why is there so few models which can handle depth data ?
If I have to choose a recent phone with depth support ( and with API 29, Android 10) , do you know which one to choose ?
Thanks in advance !

Normally the google list about depth compatibility is always up to date from what I know of.
But I'm confident that depth API will come to Poco F2 Pro soon enough, as the Redmi K30 Pro (so the Chinese version) is listed as compatible. I think it's only a matter of official support from Google for the global version.
As you said, pretty much all Android (10) phones could be compatible with this, but it seems they do need some sort of official support from Google to turn that API on?
I didn't find any info about depth API on the Poco F2 Pro, I only tried a few apps to check, and Google's ARCore Depth Lab app is listed as incompatible on my phone when I open a link to the Play Store. So this led me to the conclusion that it's currently unsupported for now.
As I'm not a huge user of AR, nor a developer of such apps, I can't really recommend any phone that has this technology. You should make some research for yourself. You could also wait a few weeks and see if Google lists the Poco F2 Pro as compatible with the soon-to-be-released Android 11 coming early September.

Update on that last message, after checking Google's ARCore list I was wrong about depth support for the Chinese version. The Redmi K30 Pro is only listed as ARCore supported, but nothing said about Depth API support.
Gotta wait and see I suppose..

I'll continue my search !

As far as I know, almost all android 10 devices can be compatible with ARcore, but not all phones compatibles with ARcore are gonna be compatible with Depth API.
This is because Depth API is a very processor heavy API, and Google needs to review every phone's cpu performance, as well as it's motion sensors performance before giving them the necessary certification for enabling Depth API.
But Poco F2 pro is a very powerful device, so I'm sure it is gonna be updated soon to support depth api. I'm waiting for the same on my Mi10 5g.

I have it installed, yes
Depth API works on POCO F2 PRO without root using VirtualXposed, or if you got root and want to modify fingerprint of ArCore app, you can do this also.
Here's an Youtube video about this:
* don't forget to use https://repo.xposed.info/module/com.bigsing.changer because Spoof My Device isn't compatible to Android 10+
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwY6VH0lcos
Here's a DEMO of it on POCO F2 PRO: https://youtu.be/-2unzupWL9s
OP: Please edit first post and add this, because this is the first thread that appears on Google about this.
do I need to have Gcam to be able to use it like you on this video? I have ARCore installed with my custom ROM that I use
So can I like bribe someone at google to finally flip the switch on the depth API? The method posted above stopped working since the update to Android 11, and it's ridiculous to have concrete proof it works just fine on the hardware, but have it disabled on google's side :I
It seems like proper depth support was added today! Took them a while but at least it's here, and all the depth enabled apps show up in the store and install as they should
