phone idle coming top 3 with 6% took from 100% in about 4 hours! what could be causing that??
phone idle 4:11 hours
screen time 1:50 hours
36minutes of sniper 3d
7minutes playtube player while screen on (plus 20 minutes screen off)
I am on 57% just after 4 hours of use! while only 1:50 hours of them screen on!
phone idle for 4:11 hours took 6% which is a ratio of (1.5% per hour)
not good at all, what could be the problem??
I tried draining to 0 then charge to 100 on a straight charge while phone is off, phone is factory resetted, locked, not rooted, stock rom .119 oreo, not even on 4k mod, 1080 as it was, brightness is always on 50%
what else can I do here?
I have constantly 8hr 30 min on wifi, 9 hr on non wifi, and 6-6.5 hrs on 4g+ using .75 debloated rom from the roms section I made myself

Mine with 4g always up to +6 hours screen on time if you use a debloated rom (remove extra apps=less app in background) phone idle not gonna drain your batter like that for me 6 hours of phone idle just use 3 persent with 4g on.

my phone barely has apps, its 3 days after factory reset, I have only 2 tabs in app drawer, I got nothing...
could it be AVG? though I dont think AVG would take that much battery would it?

a havey debloated rom or stock rom with snappatch i mean,a normal stock with all apps are pre-installed size is 2.5gb and turbo debloated rom is just 1gb. This is rule less app in background =more battery.

I hear you but im talking about people who are using stock,
some people claim they get 6hrs+ of screen time and complain about it (which means they are used to even more!) and i still didnt even get to 3hrs screen time and im already 29%
my screen time is 2:56 sitting on 29%
this is not normal what so ever even concidering it being a stock rom.
any suggestions?

Sounds more laughable, maybe your battery is uncallibrated, or get damaged, charge your phone to 100% and update your rom to. 179 and format factory the phone, if this isn't fix your problem maybe your battery health isn't good, or you can unlock your phone and flash a custom rom.

battery is caliberated I emptyed it and recharged to 100% on a straight run while phone is off.
it is factory reseted already.
I think I should try the .179 but I just dont know which one to choose as my region doesnt have it out yet

I am now rooted but remained unrooted stock for months and had excellent battery. My AccuBattery stats (a good app you might want to install to tell you what's using your battery) have been similar before and after rooting and customizing. Avg battery use is less than 8% drain screen on and about 1.5% drain when off, or estimates of well over 12h screen on for a full charge cycle. Best battery I've ever had with an Android phone (notwithstanding other issues with this phone that I don't like).
However, if you're using a lot of the Sony bloatware like AVG, that's probably your first clue. Unless you really need a feature one of the apps provides, I'd stay away from them like the plague. You can still disable many of them without rooting, totally depends. Go to Apps, and show system and then see which ones you can disable, or at least force stop (which will likely start again on the next boot).
Also, battery calibration was debunked as pure myth by Google Android engineers themselves ages ago. It simply doesn't make a difference.
I was reading that it might also be your SD card?? I deleted Android apps from SD card right now and currently testing.

hello guys, i hope you all are having a great day. so my problem is this : as soon as i got the phone, i rooted it ( obviously knox tripped but that doesn't matter to me) i flashed some customs roms, but i didn't like them because the phone was lagging and freezing randomly from time to time with the phone starting to heat in just 5 min or less and the battery life got crappy. Then i decided to flash a stock rom odin, but that didn't change a thing, since the phone still having having heating issues and extreme battery drain. oh yeah, and fast charging doesn't seem to be fast even though the fast charge activated. Help you guys

Try a factory reset, and do a clean setup (don't restore any apps).. Then just give it like 2 days (the battery usually drains faster the first couple of days).. This same thing happened to me when I got the phone out of the box, rooted it as well after a week because I don't care about knox or warranty, phone was heating and battery draining so fast, I did a factory reset and a clean setup, after 2 days of discharging the phone and charging it to 100%, the battery life got better and stabilized, the heat went away. Now I easily get about 6 hours of SOT with heavy usage (gaming and stuff), and the phone barely gets hot (it only gets hot when I play pokémon Go on 4G because it uses your GPS constantly). I have the exynos version as well.
Edit: Also try Package Disabler Pro (it's paid but it's worth it), it disables all samsung bloatware and some useless services that keep running in the background, it sure helped my phone feel a lot smoother and get even better battery life.

He is using the Exynos version, which does not have this problem. Only the Qualcomm root method results in the cpu governor being changed to performance, causing battery drain and heat.

Had 5-6 on Marshmallow, on the Beta the battery is draining like crazy, usually have to charge twice a day with light usage. Factory reset didn't do nothing, same apps as before. Might do another factory reset or go back to Marshmallow after the holidays.

Figured all that already...always close all apps when the screen is off, never connect to wifi or data while the screen is off, smart power plan, reduce resolution, disable bloatware i don't use etc..... for sure i can have my phone without charging for 3 days but what is the point is my screen on time is 4hrs or maybe less in Nougat is even worse imo.... Even after emptying the battery charge to 100% and recalibrating twice
Also something irrelevant i noticed after downgrading back using another region update.app is that the theme store have more themes now that before they weren't there

No power plans on Nougat. It's something like this, for performance you dont need to do anything.
The batttery saver is in Phone Manager, then you have the option to lower the resolution which i dont think it works because nothing changing when i turn it on and the Ultra saver.
I noticed more standby battery drain in EMUI5.0 (B320) than EMUI4.1. I believe Android OS uses more power than before (I don't remember how much it uses in 4.1, but it uses a lot in 5.0).

Changing the resolution won't change anything in view . but look here , in order to display a video with 1080p resolution you are using much CPU power where as when u watching the same video at 480p resolution , it requires much juice . only thing u miss is display quality which is negligible.

Hi,
It has been a week since i bought my s7. I was not quite pleased with the battery life. It was just ok. But now it is getting worse.
battery is 10% at the time of writing this.
Total usage is 22 hours
Screen on time is 3 hours
Android system is taking 23% battery
Screen 19 %
Facebook 17 %
Is this normal? I was expecting atleast 4 to 5 hours SOT?
I have the AOD turned on. Sync is always off. I dont even have the mobile data turned on. I mostly use wifi for facebook and browsing.
Any suggestions on how to improve it?
Aod takes 1% in 1 hour. Facebook takes too much but its known issue. Facebook knows that too and making fix right now. You can disable and enable it and then it will be ok.

Though I own a S7 Edge, the following is from my experience with Note II & S2. I am not facing this with S7 Edge.
When I get a new device or get updates, I do a factory reset and start over. Just clearing the cache doesn't help.
I am using Package Disabler Pro to disable apps when not required and it doesn't require root access.

Disable aod. Aod doesn't let doze kick in. So idle drain with AOD is 2-3% per hr.

Hello, I'd like some help about battery drain too.
I've been using my S7 for 4 months and never made factory reset after the OTA updates.
Today, for example, the battery level fell down from 100 to 43% in 6 hours.
I've taken some screenshots from battery usage screen and the items described inside de Android System item, which is the most drainer one.
If you could give me your thoughts and forgive my poor English, I'd appreciate!
I had the complete opposite to you, well in the first few weeks anyways. It would take like an hour to kill like 3% and I left my phone at 60% once, left it overnight without charge and only dropped 2% - This was the case a number of times
Fjesuino. I wiped my cache, and the battery time did improve a little. Try it out, it might work. But i think there is something wrong with your device android system and sd shouldn't be that high.

S7 Exynos and back then I didn't really use AOD. It wouldn't be fair to show battery usage right now though as I'm using quite a heavy custom kernel.
As well as all the other tips you're getting above, I'd recommend flashing the Hydra ROM onto your phone as there are a lot of features to save battery. It ports to the Note 7 and you get features like reducing screen resolution, reduce background processes, it's even got its own RAM manager.
Personally, I don't see the battery as that much of an issue though and I do bash my phone a lot through the day as well.
Have you got a lot of apps installed? Do you have a SD?

The phones here in pakistan are mostly "smuggled" or imported. I have an imported one from canada g930w8, so it's without warranty.
But i dont want to root it, i have used many custom roms on previous android devices. i personally dont like third party ROMs that much. So i'll just debloat the current one.

any way around?
factory reset your device. should sort it
Having the same problem. Latest XEF.
Factory restore did nothing to help.
Try German dbt firmware, users have reported good battery life on this version of firmware
At least I have pretty good results with nougat m .imgur. com/M5NpRFB m .imgur. com/ra2NRrE (delete space)

your phones battery drops very slowly when it's ideal...
mine falls like 1% every 15 mins when it's not in use... don't ask me what happens overnight..it's like 12-15%.

Damn i have the same problem, battery life is so bad specially on idle, i lose 5% per hour sometimes more, no wakelocks or anything...full stock nougat.
Hey guys,
I bought OP6 8/128 version and first, the battery life was ok, I was getting 4-5 hours of sot. Now, I see that battery is discharging in constant rate and something is keeping my phone awake all the time. Firstly I thought it was Instagram when it helped when I force stopped it. Now I'm lost 20 percent overnight and battery stats show, that all the time my device was awake. Cannot see anything suspicious through gsam or better battery stats as I believe the put it under android system. Help anyone?
Did you already do a reboot?

From personal experience, i found that updating OTA was the culprit. To get around this, download the full update from Oneplus and update that way.
Ever since i started doing this, I have not had the battery drain issues i used to have. Also, wipe cache before booting phone after update.

So I should try to do fresh install from OnePlus site? Awake time drops when I clear recent apps, so I believe this is either Instagram or Facebook doing this. Really weird. Even without awake time shown in graph, I got 35% drain in 1h sot and 11h standby, this shouldn't be normal, right?
It's crazy, because I used to have a good battery life

for testing, can you uninstall Instagram and Facebook for 1 day and see how your battery life changes.
I can tell you right now Instagram has a prefetch service which causes close to 1-2 hours of wakelock per day for me. I have root so I can disable it but there's no other way from the app itself.

You can just set the app to not use any background data from within Android. I have it on all that's not important for me.
Loose about 0.3% per hour without any apps or mods on beta 2.

So, the story continues... After following your advice and restricting background data for Instagram the wake up time fixed itself, however battery is still draining. Screenshots attached (facebook and time sensors used??)
I will test every available option and if they won't work, I would consider moving to beta oxygen os. Now I'm on 5.1.11
I am ready to trace this to it's roots for people who will potentially encounter this problem in the future.

It could be your spotty connection. Your awake time is fairly high when the mobile network connection goes south. Can you try using something like 3G instead and see if the awake time goes down? As well as the battery drain?
Naturally 3G uses less battery but if you see a drastic difference then it could be the tower connection you have. When the signal gets worse the modem tries harder and effectively uses more battery trying to stay connected.
Have a look if Facebook is allowed to use unlimited background data, I believe there is a setting for it on 5.1.11 aswell (I'm on beta, its a beast.)
There are many reasons not to install Facebook apps on your phone, and this is one of them.

Background data off both for Facebook and Instagram fixed (at least it seems) the overnight drain issue even with airplane mode on. Last time I lost 20-30%, tonight less than 4-5%
Just when I thought I found what was causing the drain, take a look at this: 20min sot and 20% down in 4.5h
Screens attached, still searching for the issue. Android battery stats show no awake time, but something is definitely draining (app usage insanely high on 80%)

So strange.. I feel we still have 3 options here.. 2 old and one new.
Flash 5.1.11 without wiping anything (you won't loose data so it's just an upgrade)
Flash beta 2 dirty as an upgrade, (you might get device corruptednat boot, press power 2 times and forget about the message) you won't loose any data or apps this way either.
Last option is the least fun, clean install of rom :/. If you ask me, I'd go for beta 2 option, if you wanna run something you know is stable go with 5.1.11.
I didn't run into any issues with beta 2 but some are (I believe user error here..)
Changed my mind.... I have 2 more posible fixes.. (I think)
Hmmm, one more thing I just came to think of is try using SD Maid, now this is just a guess that it will do anything at all..
The other thing is flashing a kernel, something could have happened there after an upgrade or something (just a guess.)
I'm running flash kernel now, it's really good

Thanks for your thoughts, thinking of going to beta 2 since I am on 5.1.11 right now. As for flashing kernel, I've been there with custom roms and kernels with several other phones and in the end most of them (except galaxy s5) were working better on stock ones after a while... However, doesn't rooting void the warranty on OP6?

Beta 2 is really good
48 hours and I'm at 18% with soon 9hrs of screen (usage and SS in battery thread)
As of warranty, no, you will still have full. However this shouldn't have to be done as a "fix" , i was just curious if stock kernel somehow got messed up :s

I would suggest doing a factory reset or uninstall your apps one at a time. Considering it's saying kernel wakelock (could be false positive) I would start go straight to factory reset. If going to Android Pie beta 2 is overall stable and forces a reset anyways, then go ahead and do that instead.
Im just getting 5-6hours SOT on my new op6, is this the normal battery life? Was planning on flashing custom kernels? Any suggestions?

So, I can close this case as SOLVED.
Today, phone was mainly on 4g, doing photos, videos, calls, 4 hours of spotify via bluetooth. 3h50min SOT, 16h standby and still 27% left. Dirty install of Beta 2 fixed it! Thanks for your help!
