Which battery pack do OnePlus users use? - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

I was about to buy a OnePlus6 and then I realised they use a different charging system to qualcomm so my battery pack is unlikely to work properly.
I play a mobile game quite a lot (Pokemon Go) so being able to charge my phone on the go is essential, any suggestions? Thanks in advance. :good:

any battery pack with PD is compatible with OP6
i use Cygnett TYPE-C 20,000 MAH battery pack for my 5T and use PD and it outputs 45w

Tronsmart 20000mAh QC 3.0 Portable Charger with 6A Output,USB Type C External Battery for Samsung Galaxy S8 S8+/Nexus 6p/ Huawei Mate 9/Pixel 2/2 XL
That's one of the two I have. Works great, has to USB ports. The green port charges pretty fast. Search that and you'll find it.

Thanks guys.
Edit: The Tronsmart isn't for sale anymore sadly and the Cygnett is about 4x the price of other battery packs.

Oneplusb6 dont support PD. None of oneplus phones support it.
---------- Post added at 07:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:57 PM ----------
But for OP, you can use almost any powerbank. Only the output speed is difference. There isnt any powerbank which support dash charge so you wont get "fast charge" speeds. But you can get regular 2.4A speed. So no fast charge but yes regular charge.

oh didnt know
but it can still pull 3A from it

I'm using the same that I used with my Xperia Z3 and with my Oneplus 3 too... Anker Powercore 20100mAh

I have bought this Dash Charge powerbank back when I had my oneplus 3t and it works fine one my oneplus 6 too !
Link: https://www.amazon.com/Sdoutech-10000-Portable-Charge-Oneplus/dp/B078K8TZQ1
This powerbank supports Oppo's VOOC charging which is basically the same as DashCharge and I am happy with it!
Downsides: you can't Dash charge the powerbank and you need to use the original OnePlus red charging cable to get Dash Charge working.
For users that can get that item shipped to their country like me (Germany) I contacted the seller by email and he shipped me one by Paypal Invoice; his email is [email protected] .

USB-C PD Chargers for Google Pixel XL

Awesome! Just know that the new Pixel phones support USB Power Delivery according to Benson:
Both phones support higher voltage (up to 9V), and higher power, up to 18W. In addition, both phones support USB PD's data-role and power-role swaps, meaning they'll work with charge-through hubs.
This 18W USB-C power adapter was designed and made by Google and is the one that ships with the Pixel and the Pixel XL. This is a USB Type-C and USB PD power adapter with support for 5V/3A and 9V/2A.

Saw this as well, yet no mention from top tech review videos even like MKBHD which is sad. It's like they ignored some of the fine details of this phone.
I want to know how much faster it will charge because of supporting 18W with PD, and if there are any car chargers out yet that support PD as well.

you know who else supports those numbers? Qualcomm....
QC3 chargers will probably work. QC3 rapid charges my Pixel C at 5v3a
I'll be using Ankers 60w 5 port hub with USB C PD very soon. Should be able to feed the Pixel at full 18W as it claims to be able to charge Mac Books at 29W over C.
I'll try Choetech 29W PD USB C charger, $25.99.

Yeah, maybe, but i wanted to be sure my "usb-c pd" hub3p usb A ports would work for data and charging at the same time the phone charges. As i understand it, usb-c pd is the open standard supported on devices beyond phones vs Qualcom's Quick Charge 3 being proprietary.
Fwiw, 27W = 9V × 3A max charging on the Belkin pd car charger which means it has more power than the pixel might need so other usb hub devices can use that power.

Yea QC3 seems to max out at 18 watts, not great for hubs or bigger devices. However it does have its benefits:
QC3 support rapid charging via a USB A to USB C connection. You can plug your phone into a >1 year computer, and charge it with the same cable. It supports both 15watt and 18watt charging (5v3a, 9v2a)
Generally cheaper than USB PD options, despite being the "proprietary" connection.
Aukey has their basic QC3 for $8.50 with a coupon.
My argument is that USB PD devices are actually BETTER, since seemingly they can support both QC3 and the native option at lower wattages
*its also worth noting that inversely, USB PD charger that came with the pixel C DID NOT rapid charge my QC3 HTC 10. Despite supporting 15 watts at 5v3a. It could just be that my phone isnt able to draw a full 18 watts from the charger and wont classify it as "rapid charge," but it is still charging at 15 watts. Now that new USB PD chargers can achieve 9v2a, i will test again, but so far it looks to be one sided

This is the charger that came with my Pixel C; if this is also the one you have, then it doesn't do USB-PD (nor QC) at all. It only does standard USB Type-C.
The conservative recommendation seems to be that QC doesn't work (and shouldn't be attempted) on the Pixel phone at all.
The 18watt factory charger is available to pre order now on the Google store. I got two because I'm done trying to figure out if this charger works vs that charger.

Is there any official QC 3 charger for Mi Max available in india ? or something from other mainstream phone manufacturers that could be used with Mi Max ?
I am using my old Galaxy Note 4 charging brick with the Mi Max cable included in the box and charging speed is great on both official MIUI ROM or Validus ROM, 2360 mAh
I've been using an Aukrey Qualcomm 3.0 Quick Charger with my mi max; charges it up from 2℅ to 100℅ within 25-30 minutes, which is quite impressive regarding the fact that it bears one of the largest batteries(4850mAh) in the smartphone market.
So, you should opt for this particular one........i guess?
I got Tronsmart and its working great, and it was listed in Qualcomm pdf.
I read about that quick charge 2.0 charges as fast as quick charge 3.0 , the difference is that QC 3.0 allows wider selection of voltages , so the main difference is not speed but compatibility . Does someone using QC 2.0 and what times do you get from 1-2% to 100% ? In my town there is only QC 2.0 on store and i dont want to order online and wait weeks

Car charger

Hello
can someone share what are the optimal specs that car charger for note 9 should have?
i am looking for chip and small car charger but that has optimal spec for charging fast.
thanks
QC 2.0 charger, Samsung's own adaptive fast charger or wireless. I'd recommend Anker if you can still find QC 2.0 chargers by them. Or their batteries with USB charging or wireless like the new Tesla charger.
Hello and thanks for the answer.
what is the difference between QC2 and samsung adaptative ? this means also that QC3 is usable? i have read somewhere that are chargers that "talk" to the phone to discover the best current to apply....
thanks
Note9 only supports QC 2.0 unless something changed. Some people complain but I don't like charging my phone fast unless I have to and 2.0 is plenty fast. It is less wear on the battery, which is sealed, and I don't want a bulging sealed phone and for it to last 2 years.
---------- Post added at 11:24 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:23 AM ----------
Adapative charger should've came in the box. I also got a charger when I caught the DEX pad on sale @ Samsung for $37.50, $40 after tax.
for example EP-LN930B is the right car charger for note 9? i have searched but there are a plenty of them from samsung on the market..

Wireless charger 2.0?

Hi! Just pre ordered a galaxy s10, and I'm considering in buying a new wireless charger, compatible with the fast charge 2.0 Samsung announced.
The only official wireless charger which is told to be compatible is the duo one, but it is expensive and I won't use the duo functionality.
Do you have any informations about that? An other (official or not) wireless charger compatible with this fast charge ? Or do you know how many watts this fast charge 2.0 is?
Thanks for your help

Fast Charging support

Can anyone help in understanding why fast charging on violet(Redmi Note 7 Pro) can go only as high as 13W on a fast charger?...I'm using the 27W sonic charger from MI and I have havoc os installed as my custom ROM, I've also flashed Ryzen Kernel( as I saw that it was the only Kernel that enabled 3A fast charging), but the voltage never goes any higher than 4.4V!, I've never been able to even get close to 18W!!, is it a USB C o/p power delivery limit or can we actually enable fast charging with higher voltages?

It's supposed to support 27watt charging as far as I know. Never seen any difference between a 18 watt and 27 watt charger. There must be something else making it impossible. Maybe a battery limitation?

If you use havoc os or any custom rom with battery status enabled, it shows you the current and voltage rating at which it is being charged, and if you multiply then you get the wattage at which your phone charges, I get 4.4V/3A while charging which amounts to 4.4 × 3 = 13.2W which is miles away from 18W/27W, I want to know why?

a single cell battery on a phone can't charge at 30v. The way most quick charging works is either by increasing the voltage of the battery, adding another cell, or more amps.
Also, some electricity is converted into heat instead of a useable charge. I don't see how the phone could even achieve 18watts (9v 2amps) since the battery isn't even a 9v battery.
With Tesla's "Inventions" we would have all devices fully charged "everywhere", everytime.
