Whats the best way to root a Galaxy J7 from tmobile USA, model SM-J700T?
I thought I would have this j7 rooted already myself.
Ran into fastboot issues like in the V10 forums after mm update. Seems fastboot oem unlock is disabled yet you can click to unlock in developers? Kinda of pisses me off about that. Everyone blamed LG for that but now I see a 2nd T-Mobile phone with same issue.

Yeah the J7 is good for the price without all the bells and whistles. I am seriously thinking of returning it for a refund and getting a Note 5.
I can understand that. I didn't get a note partly because since i want to remove as much samsung software as possible, it makes the s-pen almost unusable therefore a waste of the extra money. Also, i am little impressed with this device for the money. Had it been only 1-1 1/2 gig of ram like the other models I'd pass on it.

The only reason I"m returning this phone is because it lacks an LED notification light. If it had it I would really keep it.

I just purchased this phone on Verizon and was hoping for a root method. Is there anyone willing to take a look?
Watching this discussion, I want to do this to mine also
There is a root method for the LG k20 plus. I wonder if something can be done with there root method on our devices?

No one is trying to root this device anymore. Sorry. With a locked bootloader your SOL. That device is unlocked.
Security update
Just wondering if anyone made any progress on rooting this phone or did you give up? Really, I just want to reverse the security update that just came out. Is that possible? Thanks! It is the LG K20 V on Verizon.
I would also like a way to root this phone.

It's funny that OEMs which put tons of UI crap on their phones pulled Oreo out of their asses faster than Lenovo/Motorola which use almost pure AOSP.

They have a bigger portfolio of devices to support now though, unlike Nokia with 4 phones for example.
ITS HAPPENING
Yesterday I got the December Security Path update, but as long as I have root, I didn't update. Now, the OTA has gone. I guess it will rollout as Oreo Update as well
It's a good Santa's gift, isn't it? Hahaha
BTW, if someone has some download link, I'd appreciate

I posted on Facebook how to capture the OTA URL, but people are not willing to help.
That's a pity I still haven't got the OTA. Still stuck on Android 7.1.1 with November patch...
Could you check again going to Settings -> About Phone -> System Update ?
If you still have the option to download the OTA, it's very easy to capture its address...

You use stock chinese firmware? Without gapps? I have retcn moto, flash it to retus and no otas available at all.
Planning to reflash with stock rom and lock bootloader. Maybe it helps to get new otas.

I think I read with our patched boot we can get I to a bootloop? Idk
After Upgrade, in fastboot mode enter the following command:
Code:
fastboot boot patched_boot.img
(patched_boot.img you get here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78505444&postcount=6)
The smartphone will be restarted.
Then open Magisk Manager App -> Install -> Install (direct)
Reboot.
Then you have an already rootet Mi A2 Lite.
I'm from the Caribbean and I also received the update today. Has anyone who has updated already discovered any bugs?
