Hello, ever since update on my Google pixel phone there has been constant sound distortion.
Almost everytime when I listen to music on YouTube etc I have to turn volume up n down and sometimes it fixes it and sometimes it just stays very low volume and cuts in n out .
Any fix for this?
Try going to Accessibility and turn "monk sound" on and play a song and then turn it off . It fixed my low in-call volume
after flashing 3 factory images nothing happened , but after turning mono sound i managed to fix this problem , hope it will work for you , i think we both have sound IC problem , i THINK ! , As flashing 3 stock roms didn't fix the problem

Motorola Moto G 16GB, updated to 4.4.2.
HELP MY EARS!! Most notably when using earphones, I get horrible hissing, static hissing whenever I open an app that outputs sound. Even with something like Google Voice Search popping up and playing the dum-dum sound. This happens even when I turn the volume down to 0. I've gone into Sound settings, disabled Motorola's EQ, put all other volumes (notification etc) to 0 as well but nothing has helped. As soon as the app stops outputting volume after a second or so delay, the hissing goes away. For example when a YouTube video stops playing. It's driving me nuts. Google shows that it's a common issue after the 4.4.2 update or something.
I also use the app Fine Volume Control V2 across all Android devices I use since I find the minimum volume to be too loud, even with my TF300T. Thinking this was an issue I've uninstalled said app, rebooted but alas the static hissing remains.
Don't say you can't hear it, you need some half-decent headphones/earphones to pick it up, but oh dear god it's painful. Same symptoms described in this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2611599

Stock ROM and kernel?
Sorry - yes stock rom and firmware 44s, looks like it could be a common issue on the one
forums.oneplus.net/threads/buzzing-sounds.158996/
do u have any solution yet?
im having the same problem..
1st i noticed it in stock 44.. then i upgrade to several custom rom, still having this issue..
Change kernel, for me works.
So i have a galaxy s6 with ultimate nougat custom rom ( here is a link forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/samsung-galaxy-s-6--s-6-edge-unified-development/rom-ultimate-nougat-s8-port-t3681259/amp/ ) from 6 months and i have installed viper4android since then, and the issue that i am having is that when viper is active using my in over the ear headphones razer electra v2 and turn up the volume over ~70% or to 100% the sound glitches for a split second and the music stops, and volume lowers automatically to ~20 and i have to unplug and plug the headphones again,
It does not matter what app am i using to listen to music, the headphones are brand new and work perfectly fine on any other device i tried them on, at the beginig there was no problem with them and since then i haven't installed or modified my phone in any way, normal in ear head phones work without problem on any volume, i tried with my roommate's steel series headphones that he is using daily and the same thing happens when i increase the volume more than ~70%. I tried to fix this by restarting my phone several times, removing viper and installing the newest version, and searched for any similar problems that someone else might have but no clue whatsoever. I am sorry if the topic is not for this section but im desperate.
[UPDATE] I have tried different settings and i disabled my sound alive app, and it didnt work, however i noticed that rhe problem ia not in the volume but its in the bass instead. I tried to listen songs that dont have that much bass in them with viper4android on and i had no issues, but when i play songs with bass in them, then the problem occurs. Playing songs with bass and viper4android off causes no problems.
could those headphones have built in volume limiters??
I dont know, but i doubt that they have because i tried other over the ear headphones, and the result is the same
Bump?
So I've got a weird situation here, play back volume for wired and bt Earphones is low, but if I pause a song and hit play again the volume is loud in the first milliseconds.
Also if I am hearing something and activate screen record also I can hear loud, so it seems software issue and I can't find a way to fix it, and I need your help.
I am currently on emui 11 and I think I had the same problem since emui 10.
Already tried bt settings on programming mode and also with dolby sound app (tbh I can't find any difference with the dolby on or off)
No one with P40?
Hi, its been a month since started using Miui. My poco x3 pro has audio issues which some times plays audio louder and sometimes very low .. this variation happens frequently .. this happens even in call on speaker phone... don't know what is the problem . Someone please help me
Sound Assistant for individual apps is on?
Open Settings and go to Sound & Vibration.
Tap on Sound Assistant and make sure it's turned on for individual apps
To trigger Sound Assistant, press volume up/down button
A round blue music icon will appear on the left side, tap on it, and adjust the volume for each individual app
It looks like this ... I think
Thanks for your reply @eharada ! But I have Audio level variation within the same app..

I had a similar problem. I was listening to music and suddenly the audio was louder so I had to lower the volume and sometimes I had to increase the volume. It was very annoying
I realized the problem was triggered by the app Telegram, when you send a message it has a sound effect and that sound effect made the volume to go up and down.
Anyways I resolved the problem by going to settings - sound & vibration - sound assistant - and check "multiple audio sources"
