[ODIN] [OREO] [OFFICIAL] Samsung G935FXXU2ERE8 Oreo Updated Firmware (May 12) - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Discussion

Here are mirrors for the full ODIN images (2.31GB) from Samsung G935FXXU2ERE8 dated May 12th 2018 (the 1st release was G935FXXU2ERD5).
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=818222786056031174
It's from UK (BTU) but with the "OXA" CSC, so it's good for S7 Edge of any country.
Don't forget: flashing only works with the newest version of ODIN @ https://odindownloader.com/wp-content/uploads/Odin3_v3.13.1.zip

Good XDA Friends.
So using SamFirm we can download the updates directly at great speeds.
There are also tutorials on youtube how to download "older" / "other" firmwares for a specific model and region, using the combination of:
- SamFirm (Manual Mode)
where "XXX" is replaced with your CSC.
My CSC is "NEE". When I search in the .xml page, Oreo appears to be available for my CSC (<value rcount="1" fwsize="26253626">G935FXXU2ERE8/G935FNEE2ERE8/G935FXXU2ERD6</value>)
However, when I copy the PDA, CSC and Phone from the xml (that specific line specifically), I get an error from SamFirm:
Checking firmware for SM-G935F/NEE/G935FXXU2ERE8/G935FNEE2ERE8/G935FXXU2ERD6/G935FXXU2ERE8
Error: Could not send BinaryInform. Status code 200/400
Request was invalid. Are you sure the input data is correct?

As you can see, the firmware for my CSC for example is most certainly there.. but how do I force SamFirm to download it??
Hope some geekies can help us all figure this out!
If we do.. we may have unlocked the potential to download our CSC specific firmware earlier.

can I flash this with odin and it won't trip knox?
also , my csc is ptr, can I flash this without any issues?
thanks

volte works ?

So you can confirm that if i flash this on G935FD with unbranded CSC AFG will work?

For me 5 to 6 hours SOT with 14 to 16 hrs standby on latest oreo ERE8, mostly browsing, tweaking settings, some whatsapp, hangouts and xda app, but not gaming. Also all connectivity options and location services are disabled. Just using mobile data..
Cell standby still has more consumption than screen, but less than the initial oreo release.

Are you ok with the cell standby battery drain? Do you think you are still getting the same battery life with Oreo rather than with Nougat?
Thanks in advance!

The network drain is because your signal is too low. Switch to 2g when you're not using mobile data. Basically when signal is low the phone keeps searching for a better network or tower to connect to .So the battery drain

Signal strenght isn't the problem, i have never had problem in my country, i have full 4g+ signal (tipically my connection is 180Mbps) and with Nougat in battery statistic Cell stand by was one of the last in consumption list.
Nome i'm in wifi and the are the screenshot...

Oreo battery drain is higher when using mobile data on oreo. Signals are the same whether mobile data is off/on. On oreo, when mobile data is off, network drain is almost vanished even though the signals were low, but on nougat on these low signals when mobile data was on, there was much less drain than using mobile data on oreo.
But, oreo is much lighter and faster in nougat. In nougat battery life was less even when using wifi and mobile data disabled. I advise everyone to disable mobile data and use wifi and see the results then..

How to Upgrade LG G3 Stylus to Stock Lollipop Official

Upgrade LG G3 Stylus to Stock Lollipop Official
by:
Apriansyah Bintang
Alhamdulillah, those were the words in my mouth when it landed on LG G3 Stylus "in the middle of the fence." Finally "google potion" has come to us. Ok do not dwell upon this subject anymore! let's rock. But, there has to be understood first before upgrading this device to you who are still newbie :
A. COMMON QUESTIONS
Is the stock firmware of Lollipop are official? yes.
{

If the firmware are official then why can't upgrade via On The Air (OTA) / automatic updates of device? not yet, because even though official however allocated for regional Malaysia, while Indonesia or other countries untill the author post this article currently there is no clarity when it will be given, only the sweet promises from the LG. CAUTION: now you can upgrade to Lollipoop via On The Air (OTA).
Is the manual upgrade as way below will shorten the life of our device ? Nope, there is no relation.
Is the manual upgrade as this will void the warranty ? of course, but do not worry just flash again to Kitkat then it will go back again to a virgin state.
Is the upgrade Indonesian Firmware must be via On The Air (OTA)? nope, you can flash it, and the link of Indonesian firmware is in the under point A. UPGRADE PREPARATION.
B. SPECIFIC QUESTIONS
Is using the firmware will be a significant improvement ? not entirely .
Is 3g signal is more stronger ? the author use “tri” and “simpati” cards. The signal of tri in kitkat for Bekasi (west java, Indonesia) area’s only 1-2 strips, but in lollipop at least 2 strips and 4 strips at maximum. While simpati in kitkat and lollipop both 5 strips.
If we use the Antutu Benchmark then what is the score? If the Kitkat ranging from 17,000 to 18,000 so if Lollipop minimal ranging from 19370-20447.
Does performance increased? I feel it is a litte bit increase.
Is the battery getting longer ? a little bit different with kitkat, it depends on usage.
Is interface (user interface ) to change ? not significant, may be only in screen lock, recent, navigation key, which changed to the style of Lollipop .
It will support USB On The Go ( OTG ) ? no, not yet.
Does the RAM increased ? nope, there is no change, but multitasking becomes better if the entire animations in our device turned off.
Does it affect internal memory becomes more space ? nope, even on the contrary, the Kitkat internal memory which is used for sytem amount 3.7GB but at Lollipop reach 4.21GB.
Is there an Indonesian language option ? Yeup, even the choice of languages becomes more choice.
Does using Indonesian regional firmware for non Indonesian regional will impact influence on the received signal ? i think it doesn't.
Does rooting the device must be? Nope, doesn't.
Does unroot the device must be? Nope, doesn't.
Would the device can be rooted ? Yes, only one methode for now, use king root version 4.0 : www.kingroot.net
Is this upgrade will delete internal memory ? yes, it will. Than backup first please.
Is this upgrade will delete external memory ? nope.
How lerge is the size of the firmware in a KDZ ? 893MB.
Is the pixel density will increase ? nope.
There Is bugs on Lollipop ? Yeup, GPS not working properly and there is no solution yet..
Is the result of photo more better ? a little bit increase about 5-10 %, a better result when the light is less when we using the kitkat with a flash lamp then the result becomes chaotic, ugly saturation, blur. But now it is litle bit better.
Compare the photo above is taken from the stock camera of LG G3 Stylus Kitkat when the light level is very lacking at 08:00 pm ; the left does taken using blits (flash lamp) while the right photo does not use blits.
Now compare the photos below was taken at 10:00pm with stock camera of LG G3 Stylus lollipop in the same condition; with a worse light at 10.00 pm, the left does taken using blits (flash lamp) while the right photo does not use flash lamp.
Does the input / output sound more better ? no changes.
The other Applcations does not change....
etc

I got root with iRoot too, but even the own iRoot apps couldn't got root permissions, which means it couldn't gave permissions to any other app too.
I guess that even if you get, you won't be able to update the su binaries easily, so you will have to get used with the Chinese apps.
Gps is working fine to me either, seems even faster than before.

Please can you confirm if in videcamera menu the option live effects is missed ? the camera quality is ok ?? I had problems when I updated in Taiwan rom , live effects in video recording missed and the quality of the camera was much worst than with kit kat this is because I came back to kit kat, at present I have SEA (Singapore) rom and I would like to update but I have panic because I worry that the same problems remains.

Ok. Thanks, would be appreciated if tomorrow or so you can confirm battery drains or not, also I remember when I updated that the charging time was 1 hour more than the usual 90 min and the bright in automatic was changing without a reason it was with the Taiwan TWN rom maybe as Singapore has been out 3 months later this updae better, I hope so. anyway it would be very goog if after a few days you can post here any improvementes you can see in the phone, thanks again for your help.
Yesterday I have updated my LG G Pro 2 D838 (SEA - Singapore) to Lollipop v5.0.1 V20A firmware. I have tried then to root this firmware using DP Tools but had no luck. My phone goes properly into Download mode but it's always stuck at 0%. I had to remove battery to boot my phone and it's not rooted. I have tried this several times but always get this message:
Any clue to resolve this problem? Thanks!
Night mode also missed in front photo camera menu with lollipop ?
Would you be able to provide aome sort of zipof the whole rom i die die need this rom my network has problems with the custom rom im on and i dont have any trace of my previous stock rom.
OK.
Confirmed that few camera and video modes have been taken out from official lollipop.
Battery drains about 10% faster than KitKat.
Battery charging is about 10% slower too.
However, I can live with those shortcomings. Not an issue for me.

U might want to unroot and or remove custom recovery.
My phone kept booting into custom recovery and could not get pass custom recovery.
I had to use adb to push a custom rom into my phone internal storage and flash the rom before I could restore it to original firmware using KDZ.
After restoring then download the update pack and run it again then no issue.
Good luck

There's probably no difference in the processer, it's should be the Samsung 1.2gHz in the LTE.

Lol no, not even close. The T235 has an Exynos chipset, the T230 has a Marvell chipset. They're completely different

I tried but no luck, after flashing I got bootloop. It seems that android 5.1.1 is still not rootable.

From what I saw from the 8.0 models, because you've got lollipop 5.1.1 and not 5.0.x, you cannot just root by flashing TWRP and then in TWRP flashing the superSU zip like usual. There is something new in the security measures of the 5.1.1 kernel that causes a boot loop if you try this. I say this because the 10.1 models, which got 5.0.2, could root like I just described but the 8.0 models, which got 5.1.1, could not.
Therefore, it seems that someone will have to make a modified rootable kernel, in a similar manner to what moonbutt74 did for the 8.0 models. Check out his thread here to see what I mean

Can one add su binary in the xbin..I recall trying to do that before (then chmod) but mounting linux to get it to run was difficult and I ended up making mistakes and accidentally erased my disk (never tried again-lol) (that was for Huawei x2)
so basically inject root into the system.img itself and then flash through odin
Is it safe to just install TWRP (not flash anything in it) and press reboot?
I don't think twrp recovery is same..am no expert maybe should not be commenting but better be safe

I used the recovery (2.8.0.1 or is it 2.8.1.0?...anyway you will see it in one of the threads ..it is for 235 and 235y both) to deodex the rom (no root but deodexed!)..outlined procedure for deodexing on another post somewhere in maybe another thread and also t715 forum maybe (have both devices currently)
the recovery does not stick after boot and have to reodin the twrp each time need to go to recovery...but also made twrp backup which restores correctly
Edit... Also flashed csc folder XML files with Samsung command lines that enable features like auto data on off for missing and receive.. Normally needed root for that or at least that is how I altered files in csc folder within system folder
Also modified build prop for Wi-Fi scan... Just not figured out fonts as font settings force closes when trying to change font after flashing new fonts.. Default font is in framework so cannot change that now... Will also try to remove unwanted apps in system data folder by putting appropriate lines in flashable zip (not sure about this though).. So mostly getting there without root
EDIT2
With everything except data and preload from this 'modded' LL rom (by flashing zips to achieve certain changes like other.xml in csc folder inside system etc) and then advanced restore data and preload from a KK nandroid, I managed to get the font I want and retain the LL mods I did through flashing the zips.
Noticed LL ROM has native call recording not there in KK...so no need for xposed for that
(EDIT..CALL RECORDING only comes on and is seen in native call dialer menu upon de-odexing..for whatever reason..regardless of country or region build-have tried 2 of them)
just missing screenshot and advanced reboot (which need root but then there is no custom recovery as it needs to be reinstalled each time so advanced reboot is useless as of now anyway for LL-stock recovery flashes on each reboot)

Don't try it. Odin probably wouldn't let you anyway, but if it did, you would brick your tablet. Probably a hard brick
picked up a refurbished t230NY from amazon they say comes with 4.4 another customer commented and said they recently updated to 5.1.1. What root method will work on the 5.1.1? id rather have lollipop without flashing a rom

DISCONTINUED [Pure_note 5_port_5.1.1 rom_V2]

This Is Important:
The LockScreen will work on both locked and unlocked bootloaders. If you cannot run a custom kernel then do not wipe the dalvik cache or you will get Sytem UI FC. If you want to run xposed you will have to disable stock lockscreen by setting lockscreen type to none. Then you will have to download a third part lockscreen app. Do this before you install xposed or wipe the dalvik cache. If your on unlocked bootloaders make sure you are running one of the custom kernels in post 2. Only use these kerenls in post 2 or your camera will not work. Stock MMS requires some mods to get working. Hangouts MMS works fine.Do not try and update SuperSU in this rom either by flashing or through the playstore. SuperSu on android 5.1.1 will try to install systemless root which requires a kernel mod which will fail during install. Since we are still using a 5.0 kernel SuperSu need to be installed the old way which takes some modding to achieve. I installed the latest SuperSu 2.71 so this should work fine. but for some reason if you want an earlier copy installed make sure its no higher the SuperSu 2.52.

Stocked Vwz Messenger App
@jrkruse question here why is it that i try to load Verizon messenger App from Play Store it says "your devices is not compatible" ? I love using Verizon Messenger app. because i can save my text messages and reload as i try different roms that you and others have to offer. I also found out that i am unable to save my messages with Stock messenger app too. I too can not restore my Messages with stock messenger app. NO I do not like other messenger apps because they do not save and restore my messages from my sd card the way it has always been. if there is a stocked messenger apk that i can load via FF or Root Explorer then please share that with me and others here that too may want to have this app. Please. Thank you for all your hard work in making all of here in VZW S5 happier with everything that you do for us.

Oreo 8 - battery drain fixed and VOL LTE working, cocktailed firmware OFFICIAL

Hi All,
This is my first post,
After some reading and testing I have managed to install Oreo 8.0 on my S7 Edge Exynos and maintain battery performance to that of Nougat7.
I have cocktailed Oreo 8 and Nougat 7 firmware together, and maintained an official status on phone all working perfect.
If anyone wants to test this firmware mix,
heres what i used when flashing via Odin.
Oreo 8 AP & BL firmware files BTU region RE8.
Nougat 7 CP DRA9 and CSC home file RB5
I did factory wipe and reset device and restore my apps settings afterwards, all functions are working correctly.
Oreo8 software os, Nougat 7 Modem and CSC for my provider so Vol LTE works!

I hope this post was useful, any questions let me know
All the best!
Any known downsides?
None its all official firmware,
All working perfect so far, Wifi works bluetooth calls etc..
Let me know if theres anything you want me to test.
I have not rooted and not affectted knox so samsung pay etc works fine.
After experiencing Oreo with a battery drain i was tempted to flash Nougat 7 again, then I decided to cocktail the firmware instead as its so much better on 8 than 7..
I used samsungs app to backup my apps / settings apposed to google and the restore works flawlessly.
I guess when testing different firmwares it saves so much time after a factory reset.
I will test further tommorrow and see how it behaves, but so far so good!
Update for any readers / users..
14hrs with light to moderate use and i have 48% battery left.
Vast improvement compared to Oreo 8 modem which was almost 10% with same use.
18% was cell standby.
Video enchancer is switched on and screen resolution FHD.
Im seeking 8.1 official if anyome knows of it on S7edge!
Hello, you can post the samsung chart related to the use of the batteries.
to better understand what happens
Thank you
Can you post instructions on how to update only the modem if we have Oreo OTA update installed? This would be of great help.

You just have to know/find how to install software through the Odin and install just the CP and HOME_CSC (or CSC if you want to factory format) WITHOUT AP and BL.
Will this fix the cell standby drain?

Cell standby drain is normally vol LTE related as far as i have read before. Go into settings and switch it off?

It really works. I just used the CP and home CSC from Argentina Android 7 latest firmware over the existing Oreo 8.0 from UK. Worked like a charm and now the battery life has increased specially during idle time.
Maybe a stupid, question. If I put together this firmware I'd download oreo btu and take out oreo csc and cp and put in for instance csc home and cp from the Dutch phn nougat conect the phone with odin and flash the firmware and this will work.

Btw: odin failed on me while flashing csc_home from RB5. Had to flash another csc_home to fix my phone. Phone was bricked. Showed a screen to recover phone with Smart switch. But that didnt work. I somehow managed to get into odin mode again after 10 tries. So beware with flashing.

Hello,
Is it possible to flash only the CP (nougat modem) to fix the oreo cell standby problem?
