Downgrade oreo to nougat? G955u1UEU2CRB9 - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers
Hey guys
Are we able to downgrade oreo to nougat for galaxy s8+?
I hear that v3 bootloader doesnt allow you to, but can you with v2? I have samsung firmware G955u1UEU2CRB9. Is that baseband v2 based on the U2 before CRB9? Would I have to downgrade to a U2 version of Nougat 7.0?

Hey bud, thnx for this! It worked. So its true. anything with U3 is an newer bootloader version. Thank goodness I never updated to anything after crb9, it seems everything after is Bootloader 3. I dodged a bullet. Oreo is absolutely horrible with battery and is locked down much more.
You're welcome. You don't have to update the bootloader to run Oreo. For example Oreo works with binary 1. Samsung just wants people to not downgrade, that's all [emoji28]

Nice! Is it possible to go from bootloader v2 to v1? I can't get at&t VOLTE to provision and work without the original firmware. The only firmware rom available for odin for at&t original nougat stock firmware is a u1 at&t branded firmware. Otherwise everything else is based on other carriers and samsung firmware, which VOLTE and wifi calling do not work/provision.
Please advise, thnx!
No it's not possible to downgrade binary 2 to binary 1.
Nougat ATT is available for binary 2 :

Thanks bud! But isn't this the Samsung galaxy stock firmware with at&t band and bloatware pre-installed? This doesnt look like the full specific carrier at&t firmware because its the u1 version. Meaning VOLTE will be missing.
Please advise, thanks.
Why volte will be missing? It's a carrier firmware. So it will give all the carrier features...

I have S8+ unlocked international version (SM-G955F / SM-G955FD). There is a Nougat No Carrier Version bootloader v2 from my cell, plz
If you're in binary 2, it's impossible to downgrade to binary 1 with stock rom. Nougat is binary 1 for S8.
The only way for you to downgrade is using twrp and custom rom but you will loose knox...

Hi. Can anyone help please? I bought a samsung s8 g950u with at&t carrier installed from ebay. Its on oreo with bootloader lv3. Need to bypass frp security on it to be able to use it as the seller does not accept returns. Thanks and sorry for my english ?
this seems to be the right thread...ive been trying to downgrade to nougat from oreo...since i did ota back in may, my signal strength in areas such as my house are 1 or 2 bars if that...lots of dropped calls..pure crap I just want to go back to nougat, because my old s7 in the same room has full bars! I tried to reflash a new oreo version first to see if that was the problem. I was able to accomplish this with no issues, but i cant seem to downgrade. Ive downloaded the last nougat from sammobile, and it stalls and fails at "setup connection" in odin. my baseband is G966U1UES5CRF5. and i do have the frp locked showing up in download mode if that makes a difference. Any help is greatly appreciated! Im on Tmobile btw.

Due to your bootloader version being 5 you won't be able to downgrade to nougat.

No you won't be able to downgrade to nougat due to your version 3 bootloader.

Since AFAIK the S7 only has 1 hardware variant for the US. Given this, would one be able to flash a non-carrier firmware?

I've purchased 6gb ram, 128gb memory phone which is dual sim (blue coral) and would like to flash G955F firmware so that i can have full english (not the breakfast). Has anyone done this successfully? any advise would be appreciated. I don't fancy bricking my device so asking here if its safe to do so.

No need to root. You just need twrp to install a custom rom for your model. But if I were you, I won't install a custom rom cause your warranty will be cancel and your secure folder won't work anymore... Next time buy a full international version dual sim, model with FD at the end, like G955FD. I bought this model for 6gb ram, didn't envisage this issue. There's hardly any chinese but would have preferred full English I was under the impression you could flash any official firmware to any model.
You cann't do this cause your device have Snap 835, and 955F is Exinos model. I can only advice you to flash HonkKong firmware. It will have English.

Click to collapse + different modem if its about the language then use any app to change system locale you dont need root to change locale i used this app before and did exactly what i wanted (check help inside the app for more details) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sightidea.com.setlocale there are many apps but this one was easier for me hope it helps

Just be sure to install after it without a reboot : Cameron zip +image.new(boot) and then magisk 14 and after it dm verity. works for me.

Sure, it will work. but the TMO only S8 not S8+ are working. Identifi itself as G950U. You can install a alot of different Roms. Especially in China are a lot of good Roms. A friend brought me an S8-G950U Snapdragon version and I do not have the ability to get an att chip to update de firmware because I live in Argentina. I´m on G950USQUAQGL (August 1, 2017) and de software provider says ATT/ATT/ATT. Is there any way to update the firmware including Oreo? I'm sorry but the more I read the more I get confused.

I don't see any ATT ROMs for the S8 SM-G950U listed in SamMobile. However, I do see ATT ROMs under SM-G950U1. But isn't the U1 the unlocked USA version of the S8?

Hi guys you can flash any firmware G950U from Sam mobile it work because these are multi csc. Tested in my unlocked s8 G950U.
Sam Mobile seems to have disabled their free download option (possibly in maintenance). Anyone has a link the latest Pie stock with July 1 patch level (AT&T) and can share please? The first to get the update is Canada (G93xW8), followed by UK (G93xF). Either wait for OTA, or use Odin, I've already updated my device.
