Rooted Nokia 8 (Unlocked NB1) boot images 00WW_4_84A_SP03 with May'18 Security Patch - Nokia 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Here, presenting you - latest boot image for Nokia 8 ( NB1 ) with May 2018 Security Patch.
To root your phone using Magisk,
1) Enable "USB Debugging"
2) Install MagiskManager
3) Download patched boot image from https://mega.nz/#F!XYJWzDoa!cJYeg40AtGL2jsxYnyByXw ( NB1_00WW_4_84A_SP03 )
3) Run "adb reboot bootloader"
4) Type "fastboot boot NB1_00WW_4_84A_SP03.img" from same folder where downloaded that img file. [ Don't FLASH it. It will break your WiFi !!! ]
5) Let it boot, and then Open MagiskManager --> Install --> Direct Install.
Once install is done, reboot normally. And - voila - you have MagiskRooted NOKIA 8 ( NB1 )
( P.S. - I will try to keep the latest image updated. Though, Wifi is not working on that image, so don't try to flash it in boot_a partition. For future reference, boot_a partition is /dev/block/sda6 and boot_b partition is /dev/block/sda13 )
Hope it helps
More P.S - Thanks to @hikari_calyx for the bootloader unlock and initial helps

Thanks!
I have flashet it and can't use wifi, but it's rooted.
so what do I have to do to make WiFi OK again?
thx!

Bro, already told - not to flash . You just boot from the kernel using fastboot, then patch your own mobile boot_a partition using MagiskManager, and then reboot back again normally. In that way your Wifi is preserved. Else, boot_a and boot_b partition signing will not match, and so wifi will not work !!

Thx for answer!
i have my sda6 patched with MM and flashed it but wifi not work again.
How do I do that: boot from the kernel using fastboot?
Thanks!

Rather using fastboot flash , use following command
"fastboot boot NB1_00WW_4_84A_SP03.img"
It will boot to that temporary kernel. Then patch your own kernel and get back ur wifi. Though to do that now, you need to revert to your actual kernel 1st.

Hmm my device have SP02 not SP03, its a problem?
And wich file is my orig. kernel in /dev/block/?
sda6 is bootimg only or not?
I have a backup from orig. stock sda6 but not from sda13! This are patched with MM to patched_boot.img and then flashed several times to bootpart_a and _b. But always after no wifi.
ps: I have made several flash attempts with fastboot but all wifi not work.
I want to start a final attempt to flash a complete ROM, but that's complicated.
Or what IMGs do I need to flash exactly from the extracting *nb0?
I tried flashing im recovery mode this *nb0 but it not work, see log:

Finding update package
Opening update package
Verifying update package
E: Footer is wrong
Update package verification took 0.0s (result 1)
E: Signature verification failed
E: error: 21
..................................................................................................
What else can I try to rescue it?
All works only wifi not. :crying:
fastboot flash boot_a sda6
fastboot flash boot_b sda6
wifi not work again, i'm cryin!

Easy way - update to SP03 . Then just follow the step. Boot_b is not required.

I tried but give error, becouse not wifi or rooted device.
Maybe i can manualy update with fastboot, but have not the file.
Or is it different way?
Maybe if I try to disroote device and lock bootloader again?
I think W/O wifi will not worked.
Any idea?
Maybe can MagiskM help to hide root?

Is it enable for never unlocked phone?

@ bidhata
You have the file 00WW_4_84A_SP03.zip for manual update from recovery mode?
I have SP02, I think the update is successfully.
Thanks!

Really sorry. Looking for same. If can get that, may try to port TWRP.

sd storage 0 mb on TWRP

Hi,
I have unlocked the bootloader and rooted my moto g and installed a custom ROM. As the custom ROM had few bugs, i did a restore of my Stock ROM in TWRP.
Now when i see the TWRP to install another custom ROM, it shows the internal Storage is 0 mb . However when the phone is connected to the computer , i can view all the files there, just in recovery it shows 0 mb.
Any Idea guys?
i am using TWRP v2.6.3.3
Try the latest build '2.8.0.1':
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/xt1032
flashed still no luck... and i am not able to wipe the data as well, it says unable to mount
Odd case. It could be partition corruption. Maybe try Phil's Touch.
Alternatively, you could backup contents of 'internet storage' and fastboot fastboot the latest firmware image for your phone. That would fix any partition issues. Tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219
What model do you have?
i have XT1033 dual SIM version.. when i searched the firmware for umtsds i have only 4.3 available for Asia.. (Android 4.3
Blur_Version.14.85.4.falcon_umtsds.AsiaRetail.en.03) however i am right now running 4.4.4... i have one for 4.4.2 which is of Brazil.. any suggestion which one to flash.
I bought this phone in India so i am looking for Asian firmware...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54487261&postcount=332
flashed.. i ll try flashing TWRP again..
thank you guys..it worked..

Unlock Bootloader (if not already done) and flash twrp - mfastboot flash recovery twrp.img
Alternatively you can boot into twrp without flashing: mfastboot boot twrp.img
Download twrp: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/development/recovery-twrp-2-8-2-0-touch-recovery-t2980621

OTA with Magisk Fails Using Magisk's Suggested Method

I followed Magisk's OTA Installation Tips but it was unsuccessful twice. I was running Magsik v16, restored images in Magisk, started the OTA, once it started processing Step 2 of 2 I installed Magisk to the second slot (after OTA). After the OTA finished installing, I rebooted the phone and it rebooted a second time before getting to the unlock screen. Checking Magisk, I found that I was unrooted and couldn't root via Magisk Manager and the OTA install had also failed.

I was able to boot to the twrp bootable image and reinstall Magisk v14.3, and repeated the entire process above just to see if it was a fluke, and found myself in the same exact spot - OTA installation failed and I was unrooted again.
Don't try to OTA with any mods it will almost certainly always fail. Just flash factory image without the -w and then mod accordingly after it boots

I don't have any mods. After the first OTA was unsuccessful and I rebooted without root, I retried the standard OTA and it was successful. Then I booted to twrp via adb and successfully installed magisk v14.3 from a thumb drive to regain root. Not sure if there's a better way to regain root, because for this to be successful I have to wipe the sdcard every time.

Interesting, can your version unlock storage? I've been using the TWRP bootable from this thread. Based on the filename, I'm betting it's not TWRP 3.2.1-2

Booted to the TWRP bootable, decrypted storage successfully (yay!), (intentionally) didn't unlock system, flashed the TWRP zip, now it only boots to TWRP. I'm guessing I'll need to reflash the April 2018 image?
yea that happens sometimes. extract the boot.img from the april image and reboot to bootloader and then with adb: fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
afterwards, flashtwrp img and install twrp zip

Long wait over! Finally working TWRP for Micromax Infinity N12
- Full Treble Support
-Capability to flash all GSI
-ADB fully working
- Latest version 3.1.1
- MTP
- Encryption ( can be fixed but causes problems like battery drain)
-This image didn't boot for some people. This is due to the some vendor patches from an OTA update. To install TWRP just install the stock firmware and follow the steps below. (just don't allow the phone to install the OTA update or else the vendor patches will come back)
- Install stock rom before flashing TWRP.
- Enable OEM Unlocking
- Type the following commands
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot
recovery.img
drive.google.com
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=8889791610682881821 stock firmware

Which way did you use to flash twrp? Sp flash tool or fastboot mode? If you used fastboot use it in the exact same way
Fastboot oem unlock
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot reboot
After that don't let the phone reboot. Immidialy after executing the command fastboot reboot, press the power and volume up, and select recovery.
If still not successful, first flash the stock recovery and then the twrp
Edit : oh sorry I didn't see that you fixed it

Still the same bro stuck at the twrp logo screen

[solved + how i solved it] the current image(boot/recovery) have been destroyed

so, i was trying to install twrp, but i made a stupid mistake, instead of fastboot flash recovery i did fastboot flash boot, now it tells me: "the current image(boot/recovery) have been destroyed", when i go into bootloader, and attack the cable (both before and after) restarts itself.
things I tried: flash the original boot (it gave "FAILED (Write to device failed (no link))", obviously before the bootloader happened) change usb cable, flash the stock rom (obviously before the bootloader happened)), redownload adb /fastboot drivers, phone drivers, and google drivers. this is all i remember trying to do, i'm desperate, could someone help me please?
update: now i can use bootloader
update: I fixed it, in case this situation happened to you, I solved it like this: I had a windows update, while it was doing it, I connected the phone to the pc, in the end it no longer rebooted by itself (the phone) , then do fastboot flash boot (original boot), if it doesn't work, reboot the bootloader , from the bootloader, if it doesn't work, do the same thing downloading the drivers again, then do fastboot flash boot (original boot.img), if you want to download costum recovery, do fastboot flash recovery (costum recovery.img). I fixed it like this, now I have a costum recovery, costum rom and root!
Hello friend, I have a question. I closed the bootloader and when I closed it, the recovery image was destroyed.

That happened to me when I wanted to block the boot, so I think the boot was blocked and only stayed in the realme recovery like the following photo

I don't understand if the recovery works or not, it's a bootloop with locked bootloader and you can go into recovery or locked bootloader without accessing recovery? you are confusing me, however, if you have access to recovery download the stock rom from the recovery, if not, try to unlock the bootloader again by doing fastboot flashing unlock, then flash the stock recovery and then download the stock rom from the recovery
And how do you enter that mode without the application?
enter bootloader and do fastboot reboot recovery, in bootloader you can't perform flashing actions and many other things (bootloader locked) but some things, like reboot should work
in case you get the same error for the recovery you have to unlock the bootloader again
Can I send you a private message?
yes
Did you solve it? I'm facing the same issue.

update: I fixed it, in case this situation happened to you, I solved it like this: I had a windows update, while it was doing it, I connected the phone to the pc, in the end it no longer rebooted by itself (the phone) , then do fastboot flash boot (original boot), if it doesn't work, reboot the bootloader , from the bootloader, if it doesn't work, do the same thing downloading the drivers again, then do fastboot flash boot (original boot.img), if you want to download costum recovery, do fastboot flash recovery (costum recovery.img). I fixed it like this, now I have a costum recovery, costum rom and root!

I am having trouble understanding what you did exactly. I am getting this same error with a Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite.
Edit: got it working by disconnecting all usb ports and trying another port.

Hello friend, I have a question. I closed the bootloader and when I closed it, the recovery image was destroyed.
Now I can't enter my cell phone and it stays in an infinite boot
