Well, it depends what you call "better battery life". How much time did you get on both phones ?

My guide to checking which phone uses more battery than the others :
- CPU cores / threads, how much core does both phone have ? Lesser the core, lesser battery consumption. Add a point for every cores the phone have.
- CPU frequency / clock, does both phone clocks in at the same frequency ? Lesser the frequency, lesser the battery consumption. Add a point per GHz, so 1 GHz is equal as one point.
- GPU clock, does both phone have equal clock / frequency ? Lesser the frequency, lesser the battery consumption. Add a two point if the phone have superior GPU frequency.
- Screen (overall screen size), does both phone have an equal screen size ? Although this doesn't matter much, add a point if the phone have a larger screen.
- Screen, does both phone have an equal resolution ? If so, does the screen have an equal screen size ? If both points are true, smaller the screen and resolution, the lesser the battery consumption. This is one primary factor of battery drain. Add four points if a phone have a resolution more than HD (1280 x 720p), and two points if it's lesser than that.
- Device sensors, does one phone have a sensor and the other don't ? Add a point for every sensor you found, use a sensor detector app to check this.
- Operating system, does one phone have a superior operating system version ? Add a point if a phone have a superior OS version.
Sum all of those value, and compare it. The lesser the value, means the phone is either worse in terms of features, it performs worse than the others, but good thing it has a better battery !
Larger the value means the phone is full of features, and have a powerful pack of hardware, able to push more pixels. This at the cost of battery life.

It comes down to preference really as I dont really like phones bigger than 5" and xiaomi is quite established. Its got the right size, ir blaster and a good SOC which should get good rom support, cm12.1 already available
Where are you based? The Global version of the Zenphone 2 has band 20 which the Mi 4c doesn't have (may be able to be unlocked manually but I'm doubtful). The Zenphone also has expandable storage which the Mi 4c lacks - you may already be used to this and the larger form factor due to currently using the G3. That said, I've heard (but cannot personally verify) that the Zenphone has erratic battery life and performance in addition to being more expensive than the Mi 4c.

So from my understanding, both of them would work, right?
32gb are more than I need, so the expandable storage is not too important.
If the Zenphone do has erratic battery life and performance, it's a good reason to go for the Mi4C, isn't?

Well, my Mi4C had battery drain. Around 3%/hour on idle with WiFi and 4G all off, so when I woke up a third of my battery was already gone. I ended up fixing it by flashing the international ROM but after that, I've been getting 5 hours of SoT which is great. Can't comment on the battery of the Zenfone.
Regarding the battery problem:
Looks like it could different between your's to anyone else.
I read a review in a site in my country and the person who made the review praise the battery life.

My Mi4c has very good battery life. The same like the z1 compact i had. Other phones i had i charged sometimes more than 2 times a day.
The zenfone 2 has worse battery life, build quality and performance. If you don't mind the SD card and 5" screen then the Mi4C is your phone. Zenfone 3 could be very interesting when (should be kinda soonTM) it gets released though!

How abt Redmi note 3?
No battery issue with my Mi4C. Left it idle for most part of the day with cellular and Wi-Fi connected the whole time and managed 0.7% / hour idle time. I also have many apps installed (not facebook or any messaging apps though). It's rooted and greenified, running original stable Chinese Miui 7 Rom with some Chinese bloat apps removed. It's also scoring 52K on antutu 6.

Processing power wise, ZenFone 2 (the high end 32 GB internal memory with 4 GB RAM model) is comparable to Mi4C, the GPU is even slightly better. However, when it comes to video recording, ZenFone is waaaaay below Mi4C. The still image, if you use latest firmware, is already fixed though. Note that due to the use of Intel processor, some apps that use native libraries might not be installable. Ensure your apps are architecture-neutral or have both arm and intel version available.
OTOH, Mi4C has thermal issues and I still can't find the best thermal configuration so far. This causes the cores, both CPU and GPU, get shutted down or their upper limit is decreased to lower down the temperature. I break this limit by changing the limit a little bit higher, but if you play games while charging the phone, my best record reaches 90° C. Hot enough for a sleep killer tea

Having owned both phones i can say the Zen2 is a dud. The screen is dim, the speaker is weak, some apps drain crazy battery as they are using an ARM emulator to run on x86. It wobbles on the desk and the battery dies after your lunch break. The camera has low exposure that makes everything look darker than it is. The Mi4c just works like you expect a flagship to do.

I dont believe in 90° C unless your phone is borked and termal throttling doesnt work, also phone would shut down anyway with that temperature.

It is, well the screenshot I have is 87 actually in one of the many thermal zone (they're all varying from 60 or so) but during that time I did see and feel 90 (as a hot tea drinker, I know how hot is 90). Thankfully I have a flip cover that absorbs the heat, but if you touch the scree, it's really damn hot. Thermal throttling doesn't work on my device, because I've disabled the thermal driver :cyclops:
I don't really know the actual upper limit, but I guess it should be around 100-120. My PC was 120, but I don't think smartphone's SoC will differ much.

Hahaha, worry not, it's been back to normal temp (30-50). The problem only happens if you play resource intensive games while charging.
My last phone Mi4i also reached ~90°C after playing with the thermal engine. The flashlight turned on in the pocket of my pants and burned for half an hour. I just noticed it because my leg got hotter and hotter luckily the phone wasnt damaged through this. Also, i think the CPU can handle these temperatures without being damaged, but i would worry about other phone components such as SD Card, battery or glued components

Maybe E8995 is designed with power-gating (core idling)
SoC with power-gating will only show lowest value when core turning off, unlike CPU hot-plugging (Snapdragon).
The software doesn't recognize when the cores are turned off.

And among other parameters that are not reading accurately for now. Expect AIDA64 to have an app update soon. The new SD & Exynos chipsets are still very much new and exclusive for now.

How big is the demo app itself? It's hard to make an assumption about retail phones from their demo counterparts.

Since I have not yet had a precise idea about the battery life of this S10E, I would like a comparison between my current smartphone and the S10E.
If for example with my current smartphone (Galaxy S5 Mini, stock rom and battery replaced about 3 years ago) with the use I make I arrive at night when I go to sleep with about 15% of battery, in my case with S10E how much will the battery percentage be compared to the S5 mini?

I'm assuming the baterry is 2,100 mAh, the s10e has 3,100 a better processor and a better overall OS and UI.. it handles battery drain better afaik.
You should see very good improvements in battery life going with the s10e..

In all honesty, I came from an LG G6 to the S10e (Snapdragon version), and I'm getting better battery life, even though the G6 had a larger 3300 mAh battery. You should almost certainly see a decent improvement coming from an S5.

I hope, because I would like to buy an european S10E with a Exynos CPU. The battery drain problems is related to Exynos models, not to Snapdragon.
I would not compare a low priced/featured SoC (S5 mini) with a highest end Soc (S10e). A more featured SoC will always drain more power, because it has more components that must be powered. Better compare the energy efficiency of the same SoC from different smartphone manufacturers.
As far as I can say yet after a week, the power drain of the S10e is OK. This means: I expect that with more apps the power drain will raise. If the phone lasts for a day, or if i have to power it in the late evening/night, this is OK.
My last daily driver phone was a Xiaomi Note 5 which broke accidently. That thing gave me power for 2-3 day heavy usage. With an Snapdragon 636, an ernergy efficient mid-class SoC with a 4000mAh battery, the experience was superb. But with lack of many phone features like good camera, NFC, ....
Nevertheless I decided to switch to an higher end daily driver because of the features and overall better possibilies the S10e can give me. If the battery will not last for the whole day i will sell it. I also will buy a backup phone like the Xiaomi Note 7 soon for navigation and for traveling.

Therefore, I decided to limit the CPU clock frequency of the Tensor G2. By adjusting the overheating threshold, the CPU clock frequency limit can be achieved. Keep your Pixel 7 Pro super cool, not hot at all, and with longer battery life.
I made a Magisk module for your input, if you are also troubled by the heat of Pixel 7 Pro, then you can try this module.

Great, I had to test this. I have the Battery Guru, and I have set the temperature to 30 but it always prompts, even when I am using it for minimal work. Can you share some performance benchmarks, either with Battery Guru or Better Battery Stats? and the source on github?

Data to prove that the efficiency of G2 is poor? Sure, sir.
This shows Tensor G1, and Tensor G2 introduced an additional X1 core (2x X1 cores) and didn't improve the efficiency much apart from being slightly more efficient since it's based on 4nm.
So, long story short, G2 is somewhere between Exynos 2100 and 888 when it comes to efficiency and neither of these two mentioned is really efficient.
Pixel 4's SD855 is more efficient than both Pixel 6 and 7. lol
There is plenty of power measurement data and how the SOC behaves under load, feel free to research.

Installed it several days ago. Noticed that charging fell to a crawl, to the point I thought my charger or cable was bad. Uninstalled immediately.

No lag, stuttering or freezing. No issues with charging. Temperature stays lower than normally, for example while using chrome or other browser temperature used to spike up to 60-65° within few minutes but now it's down to 50-55°. I didn't notice any change in battery life.

I'm also curious to know what performance gains or battery efficiencies Pixel phones have with their 'clean' software.
5 second delay in the camera app when changing from photo to video or changing from back camera to front...

@fenibook , can you add any conditions to the module so it's inactive when the phone is charging either reorh cable or wirelessly?
For me camera works fine. Also, installed again on QPR3 and charging seems ok.

Yes my bad.. It was the one plus hide navigation bar module I used.. It was the only one that worked fine with android 13.. Does anyone know a proper one to hide that pill bar?!

AOSPmods, works fine for that. Some of the stuff is incompatible with 13 QPR3, but hiding the pill works fine.
