MOD EDIT by @gregbradley
It appears this method has now been patched and no longer works. @yusoffb01, please PM me if you have any issues with this edit. At this point you have been inactive for 8 days.
Managed to unlock phone without waiting for 360 hours On miui rom 9.5.6 or earlier. The trick is to use 2 accounts.
Both accounts must have applied for unlock permissions.
Login first account on phone, Settings > Additional Settings > Developer Options > Mi Unlock Status. Tap on “Add Account” to bind to phone. Also enable OEM unlock option
Restart to fastboot (hold volume down + power button)
Using mi flash tool, login to first account and try to unlock, you will have 360h timer.
Restart phone, sign out of miui and login to second account, but DO NOT BIND PHONE. Then restart to fastboot
Login to second account on mi flash tool, then unlock will be successful without timer

Edit: Looks like this method and using older unlock tool or older miui firmware does not work. Using old or new miui account doesnt work. You have to wait 2 weeks

Really usefull tricks
Xiaomi removed the waiting limit for whyred users after bashing of Indian users. Originally its intended for 86006 error users but it's working for every whyred user. Jusr saying, there are already four threads with the same old content. Why another again?

I think it's usefull because I've seen in many forums that there is 360 hours waiting time to unlock bootloader for many people...

Like I said, they remove the gates for whyred. Not only for India but also for all users global/china. This is not new and was already posted. Check the other threads and see the posts made by Indonesia and Chinese users in that thread. If it works for whyred global then creating another thread solely for it doesn't make any sense.
IT Worked bro
Haha, the one you really shouldn't try has turned out to be the solution. How weird
Until last month, if u unbind your account the timer resets and you will have to wait another 360 hours
What do you mean by "not binding the phone" with the second account? Thanks for any reply ^^
This would happen on the day im able to unlock my bootloader! Longest 14 days ever...thanks for sharing
Ehm... To be honest, i had no waiting time at all. I instantly unlocked my redmi note 5 without any issues. Since when put xiaomi those restriction on? And does those unlocking mechanism's are limited to new accounts.

i dun think because of new account, my account created since years ago, like 2011? i also got 360 hours to unlock, now left 70 hours.
The two accounts trick worked for me too but I did have bind the second account for it to work

I was just confused about the current circumstances. If you are feeling bad depending on my posting. I apologies, but keep it calm. Its just few hours.
Thanks, this worked on my Note 5 Global MIUI 9.5 Oreo
Don't have two accounts!
Don't have two accounts!
Is the exception to WHYRED, still valid?
Got my Global Version, today and bound the device to my account.
Haven't tried unlocking yet, but I read on other threads that using an old unlock tool, might make unlocking easier. (pass few days doing research).
I still have a nearly two year old version, on my laptop from when I unlocked my Kenzo.
What do people advise.
Thanks in Advance.
Sorry if posting in the wrong place.
Anyone know how to create 2 accounts i only have 1 phone number??
Worked great, thanks.. I have global version, I first applied, had the 360h wait, done the second account, instant unlock.. appreciate it!

I've successfully got a working bootloader code for my M5 and it worked. I am now running generic system image and it is working beautifully.
For the record, I am owning a 10 inch M5 (not pro), 64 GB wifi-only version. Bought from official Huawei online store in China. I don't know if this would work on other versions but it is worth a try.
Note: The unlock service from Huawei will terminate on 23 July. It is highly recommended to get a bootloader code if you plan to use custom rom in the future.
Edit: Seems that images are missing. Here is the imgur album link: imgur.com/a/FaaGNkL
I'll try to fix the images. Sorry for any inconvenience!
Requirements for getting the code
A Huawei M5 tablet of cause. 3G or wifi version
A desktop computer
The tablet must login into Huawei cloud for at least 2 weeks
The final requirement is not listed in English version. I am not sure if that need to be fulfilled in English version or not.
Link to unlock form: emui.huawei.com/en/plugin/unlock/index
(Sorry but XDA disallow me to post outside link. I would update this post once I got the permission)
================
1. Go to the link and login with the same account on your tablet
2. Accept the terms
3. Select "Since EMUI 5.0"
4. The "smartphone" cannot be changed. It is by design (or a bug)
For 3G version owners, follow the instruction and fill in the form. I am not owning 3G version and therefore I could not proof if the form is working or not.
================
For Wifi version, the process would be quite tricky.
Seems that Huawei did not plan to make a new wifi-only tablet when designing this unlock web page. We could not skip IMEI field in this form.
...Unless we do some tricks.
This tutorial uses Firefox browser. Chrome does not have resend request feature which is required for our purpose.
Enter the following sequence in offical calculator App
Code:
()()1357946()()
The displayed window should give you all information needed except the IMEI.
It is time for some tricks. Press F12 on your keyboard to bring up developer tools and navigate to Network panel.

}
Enter some random number in IMEI field and submit the form. The submission should fail (no surprise) with reason "SN and IMEI are mismatched." and a request entry would be logged in the developer tools.
Inspect the request to check route and click Edit and Resend Button.
Edit the Request body:
Change needimei from 1 to 0
Remove imei field (Remove imei=......&), rember to remove & symbol or the request would be invalid
Update veri to new verification code in the window
The reuslt sould request body should look like this
Code:
before5=0&sn=YOUR_SERIAL_NUMBER&checkCode=SOME_NUMBER&veri=VERIFICATION_CODE&needimei=0&_form_key=c934efde48a3
Click send and a new check request should show up in the developer tools panel. Inspect it and check the Response tab.
The blacken part is the bootloader unlock code for your device.
================
I used this code for unlocking my device and it workes.
Hope this guide helps!

I can't get this to work. I keep trying the method above, but it always says SN and IMEI are mismatched. Could it be because I've only had the tablet for a couple of days?
I unlocked my tablet immediately after unboxing and it worked.

Sorry for the late reply. I did not receive notification from XDA
I don't own an US version. But I don't think there will be much of the difference in terms of bootloader locking and unlocking strategy.
The tablet should be locked by default and you have to unlock it before rooting.
Thanks for the reply, I got it unlocked, now I'm trying to root.

The response I get is "imei_notbound_account"
I called US support and they referred me to China support because I have the SHT-W09 C432 variant (I thought this was European). I emailed that support line and hope to get some direction back on how to unlock the bootloader. Everything I've done online so far via their webpage and this tutorial does not work. Anyone have any ideas?

I attempted to follow the instructions, got a 'Device not support'.
For my Nokia 6.1 plus (TA-1103), i want unlock / root to install Titanium to backup my 5 apps with about 15 2Factor-authentication accounts in it and transfer them to my new Nokia.
Am now attempting to get the unlock key from TechMesto as I think my 6.1 plus falls into the category that it came with the july update, and only updated to august after i turned it on.
Fingers crossed..

Hi guys, this is my first thread and I hope you can help.
After Downgrade my Mate 30 Pro with EMUI 10.0.0 through LIO-L29 10.0.0.163 (C185) firmware, appears one new screen to activate Huawei ID. Even though I have my correct account and password, I cannot log in, nor can I use the phone now.
It's looks like one new security step from Huawei side. Someone kwows how to bypass the Huawei ID? I checked some video-tutorials but there are no clear tutorials yet on Youtube. Someone knows something about it?

Friend, i was connected through Wifi, i tried wit 4G also.
As far as I know this is a new security error that has appeared in new Huawei models after downgrade, but not all. In youtube there are some chineese tutorials where special software is required to do Bypass. From Huawei Spain (where I bought the mobile) they told me to send the mobile to the SAT. My problem is that I am living in Argentina and the guarantee is valid for only in European Union countries.
Another idea?

Any development on this issue?
Should we avoid downgrade from 10.1. to 10.0 or would it be ok to downgrade (apart from having to install GMS again)?

i think you must be on android 10.1 to work

So, if we downgrade from 10.1 to 10.0, will the phone work on 10.0? Or we need to upgrade to 10.1 again?

Yes it looks like they've deleted it in Xiaomi 12 series as it is not appearing at all.
WTF I've flashed Indonesia ROM one more time and recording is available but only BEFORE I connect phone to the internet! Looks like location checking
// SOLUTION
com.android.updater <--- block in any way that will be comfortable for you, it won't disable recording

Not sure if this is the cause since you have to login to activate the account at startup.

Yes it is. I've checked many times. You don't have to login immediately. Just pull out sim tray and don't connect to wifi. Voila

Since my phone was brand new I've never attached Mi Account. I think it's quite possible to unattach Mi account before factory reset, and Google account too because it will ask about previous account.

If doesn't helped, remove updates from AndroidSystemWebView app, somewhere in apps>all apps>three dots>show system apps. Otherwise you will see just user applications.

i wrote to you in pm, please help me
You can try to install any older version if yours doesn't work correctly https://apkpure.com/mi-home/com.xiaomi.smarthome/versions and have you enabled all notification options exactly in Mi Home app profile?

Yes all enabled, installing older version make appear some options in categories, but no notifications at all, also replacing with newer version
Have you tried to change MiHome region settings (China, Singapore, ...) or some times login/logout your mi account , then wait for 10min and test... Some times mi servers are to busy

already saw that threads, i have 2 phones with same locales in build.prop, in one phone mi push notifications work, in other not, so is not related to this
Sometimes locale and region are not easy to find, there is lots of *build.prop files, you can check the difference by using setedit/settings database editor app and also firmware can make a problems Global/European/Indian and so on.
Actually there is some sort of bug where is impossible receive mi home push notification (very important for security cameras and sensors) on poco x3 pro and latest miui 14 from xiaomi.eu
in first pic you can see that the categorie is missing (this app hasnt received any notifications), in fact no notifications
in second pic you can see xiaomi home categorie is there, and notifications work!
on x3 pro i am actually in the first pic situation, if you don't have mi home push notifications check there what you have
please xiaomi.eu team fix this problem in some way, or report the problem to xiaomi
Don't open another tread with the same problem... On first pic, option is not active because I don't have any MiH device... Second one mean that you heve one or more, and you can enter this option and manage... Should look something like:
Spoiler: example

what phone and rom you use?
Poco X3 pro off course, 13.0.3EAA... if you are on early 14.0.1-0.2 it's not a big surprise. But my best friend have the same phone and version and using MiH devices on 14.0.2, hi told me everything works fine... First time I jumped to 13 from 12 using small update package, it was lagging like a boss and after I updated with full rom (without loosing data), all bugs disappeared.

Не using EEA (Europe) official stable rom 14.0.2, what is EU rom?

If this is any custom rom then post a question in existing ROM thread
