Frustration! Please Help - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions & Answers

I have Note 8 Noughat Now.
I bought this AT&T Phone from some one.
I want to update to Oreo but I couldn't.
I am wondering which Firmware should I download , there are tons of firmwares :s
Seriously why do I need an AT&T Sim card to update my phone, worst idea ever.

S6-SM-G920I firmware

i have an australian GS6 running Android 5.0.2 Build- LRX22G.G920IDVU1AOC4 but Australia is really slow when it comes to updates for samsung phones. I heard there is a micro update fixing RAM and crash issues, i want this update but its only on international versions of the s6 SM-G920F, can i flash it to my GS6 even tho its a different model? which countries have the update?
What is the smoothest Firmware for GS6(country)?

You would ota update with an active AT&T sim in the phone. It's been it's brought up every other day now. It's the only way.

That would be why. You'd have to have an att sim of prepaid att sim to be able to update.

Galaxy s6 tmobile

So I know this is the wrong area but s6 forums are dead so I was hoping someone could answer a question here. What I wanted to know was that I am on nougat right now and I was thinking of installing a custom rom that was a lower android version. I am rooted and know all the steps to do it but was unsure if that would brick it by having a different version on it. And in case you wonder why it is because I wanted to use unlimited hotspot and have not found a way to do so with nougat but many ways to do it on older versions plus I could use foxfi. So please no bashing just a guy looking for answers is all. Thank you for your time.
Last thing I am on metro pcs but it is a tmobile version. I also do the stock 6.0 version to flash it
Anyone
Why don't you just try it if the worst comes to the worst just flash your latest Android version with Odin

Possible Bootloader Update Coming...Could be good news

Thanks to @micallan_17 for the tip and a little research, it looks like bootloader v8 is coming. Not only to Sprint....but T-Mobile and the U firmware. The site below is a Samsung server site and hasn't missed one yet. G930UUEU8CRJ2 and the J means October....so, it should be sooner rather than later. Anyway, just thought I would share.
U Models:

http://fota-cloud-dn.ospserver.net/firmware/XAA/SM-G930U/version.test.xml
Carrier Versions:
http://fota-cloud-dn.ospserver.net/firmware/SPR/SM-G935P/version.test.xml
http://fota-cloud-dn.ospserver.net/firmware/TMB/SM-G935T/version.test.xml

I am excited for this! This means I will be able to flash TMobile or U firmware right?

Should be able to do that. If this is true, it should drop next month... Fingers crossed. It has been spot on with updates in the past, so I have good faith in it. It nailed all of the Sprint updates.

I would hold off on the update now. The U firmware usually drops after the carrier updates. I didn't think the Sprint version would drop until mid November, so maybe it will come sooner too.
If your device is was unlock and been waiting for other carriers to update to same bootloader you can do it with the tmobile i dont know about other carriers

That's correct. I have a rom that I want to use that's on Marshmallow and since I know I can't downgrade from bootloader version 5 I'm sending this phone back that just got to my house today.
Edit: I know I said bootloader version 6 but I meant the first bootloader version with Android Marshmallow.

Damn good luck in your search I'm still on marshmallow myself cause these newer android versions have difficulty with mods like viperFX and more importantly xposed can't leave home without that.. [emoji817]

Yeah it sucks and everyone on Ebay and Amazon is claiming it is and it gets here on bootloader version 5 no where near Marshmallow! I figured I'd try here for a change since I know there's got to be some people like me that deal with phones every day and probably have one in a drawer somewhere! Hopefully anyway! Thanks though!
You might do some more research. I have heard that while Odin won't let you downgrade a bootloader, TWRP will. The "lock" isn't in the phone; it is in Odin. I haven't tried it (or needed to), so I'm not certain that it works. This means, of course, that you need to find a ROM (w/ bootloader) or standalone bootloader in TWRP zip format.
