Face Detection - Not available while region "Canada" selected in MIUI 9.5.6 - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

Dear All,
My friend bought the Redmi Note 5 (China) with global rom installed, but once he was setting up with Canada as region, he did not get face data option in lock and password page. Then reading from the web somewhere, he changed the region to "India" and got that option. He switched back to "Canada" region and the option is gone.
Is there any solution to this?
Thanks.

I'm afraid there is no alternative but to switch the region to India or China. It's a really strange policy from Xiaomi

Just change your region to india and you will have the feature. You can still keep your language set to what ever you want.

Just choose India first, set up your face data for unlock,
And change it back to canada. The face unlock will stay.

Hi
It seem a limitation of the firmware you have at the moment , is it a branded version?
if so you could try with an un branded stock version or if you are rooted with a custom rom

Question What is the most convient Rom Region for GT Neo2

Hello guys I live in northwest Africa region, I recently ordered Realme GT Neo2 and it's on the way home, I'm requesting some suggestions about which is the best firmware region to flash it with according the to my preferences :
Firmware contains native dialer and messages apps instead of google phone and messages.
Call recording feature.
Bootloader is easily unlockable on that suggested ROM. (in case I wanted to revert back to the original out-of-box ROM)
Contains Gapps
I'm pretty sure there's lots of confused people here due the wide variety of firmwares and what to choose from, so any helpful answer is greatly appreciated

as per your preference you can choose EU ROM- for performance (but google dialer and messages) Recording with prompt
Indonesian ROM - for performance and native dialer and messages with Call recording supported.
All Gapps are included with RUI 2 and RUI 3.
Once you receive the phone dial *#899# to check software version they as per your region specific bootloader unlock is available. it is not available for all regions.

No issues with Phone's ROM, after flashing but never lock bootloader, you cannot unlock again using deeptest.

Question S908N KTC to KOO

Hello fellows
So my issue is a bit long so sorry for that
I got this phone 3 days ago
S908N KTC Unlocked ( I live in Middle East and the SIM is working just fine )
I didn't know that this was a branded phone from KTC, I thought it was unbranded KOO
So right now I want to change the firmware to KOO to get rid of the KTC Boot animation and the KTC bloatware/settings
So how should I do that ? Just flash the KOO firmware using Odin? do I need to change csc? is that risky and may trigger Knox and block the phone ?
and after that can I just flash like the middle east firmware ?
Thank you in advance and sorry for taking too long
I'm attaching a screenshot of the CSC and software version of service provider
Use samkey. Pay for a key then change your csc using it

Yes, but some users already tried and it worked. I remember reading one or two days ago about exactly this...it says it is not supported but it works. I recall it was an Exynos device not SnapDragon but should work the same

Thanks for confirming
At least it appears possible to root it and maybe install a custom rom.
I assume that only the rom builders might be able to create a solution for the N version as an installation option in a rom.
However they might not be motivated due to the small number of people having the N versions. Unless of course a few of us agree to contribute in the form of a donation, then maybe a developer can play around and make it happen. What do you think?

well, I'm not really planning to root as this will trip knox.
Any news on changing KTC to KOO? I rooted SM-S908N, installed app Phone INFO+ Samsung, but don't see a way to change CSC. It just sees KTC region. Chimera Tool also gives info SM-S908N is not supported device. So, is there any way to get KOO or at least get rid of KTC Boot animation and the KTC bloatware/settings?

Sadly it seems like the Korean version of the phone will never get a different CSC... :/
I successfully changed KTC to KOO using Shell exploit method mentioned in S22 thread.
Also, yeah without root and without triggering knox.

if it's snapdragon, then you can try to enable CA using unlock band guide available in S22 forums.
If you are not able to access service menu, you can get it using Samsung Shell Exploit forums in S22.
Using jio and using 5g on it

Ok,difficult to answer you because of the operator and the country, try to see with your operator or try a Weekly (more advanced).
in my country, the operator has to enable it on their system first. Not sure if same or different for yours.

It is the same for all countries.
the problem is not the activation but the sound quality.
