See I'm not the only one comparing these two phones, great minds..
For audio, what I'd really like to know:
Is there any physical difference between the audio used in the Mate 2 vs Mate 7?
One thing that I liked with the M2 was that the headphones could be powered (if not overpowered) by the chipset without an external amp (and little distortion), most phones these days miss this entirely.
For me audio quality will be the final determining factor, does the AM7 use the same or better (than Mate 2) chipset in device?
Still 50/50. The thing that let's the OnePlus One down is the lack of MicroSD.
@volcolm if you have a good headsets, the Mate 7's audio quality is awesome. In China, there is even a special Chinese software that can fully release the DTS power of Mate 7.
Getmobilephone, do you think it would work well with a Xiaomi Piston Headset. Those are awesome, I have a set.
I say the mate 7's extra helft is well worth the amazing battery life and bigger screen. I had to let go of my OnePlus One because I only had the 16gb version and that was simply not enough.

What is about the dual system beta test?
I'll throw in an update since I was quoted twice (please don't quote this as it is slightly offtopic): Since relegated a decision to Huawei Nexus 6P or LG G5 ... The Mate 7 isn't easily as obtainable for me and would actually be too expensive compared to either, due having to import it (it doesn't make financial or hardware sense to me); but a Nexus device would be awesome because Huawei does a good job with hardware, not to mention XDA is awesome for releasing stable kernels; but on the other side, LG's ''friends'' attachments are appealing too (they're currently teasing more attachments for it on Facebook), am certain that XDA would work in either's favour here.

Comparing the Mate 7 to any of the devices you mentioned is pointless, and if you actually consider importing one... Well that's laughable. I really despise Huawei's software and lack off support. Go for the 6P, however the G5 does also look pretty sexy.
Plus, the Mate 7 was announced in 2014, meaning it is nearly two years old at this stage. Considering it above the current, top-of-the-line flagships is a little silly.
Take the advice from someone using a Mate 7 and stay far, far away. Like you said, Huawei does a fantastic job hardware wise, it really is great (bar the camera, which is mediocre at best), but what really kills the entire experience to me is the bastardized Android. If you have the money to buy a current flagship don't buy the mate 7.

That wasn't meant as a comparison, and (lol) I meant to use "wasn't" not "isn't" (oops!). Also for some strange reason this notification remains at the top of the "recent notifications" in the control panel, so due to poor eyes I thought this was new, even though, logically, it should be shuffled down instead of being on top.
So that's clarified, please stop bumping this
yep looks like the V20 is my next phone. Decision has been made easy.
http://www.androidcentral.com/lg-v20-will-be-first-phone-quad-dac
The LG V20 not only will be the first phone to run Android 7.0, but news from Seoul tells us it will also be the first smartphone to feature a Quad DAC.
While the actual model isn't yet revealed, we do know LG is once again partnering with ESS to bring premium audio to the V20. ESS also provided the excellent 32bit DAC in the V10, which received pretty rave reviews for its audio performance.
Higher quality audio is simply the natural evolution of the smartphone, as the industry moves toward a more holistic multimedia consumption experience. — Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics and Mobile Communications Company. LG says that they know users are now looking for more than a fast processor and a big display when they buy a high-end phone, and they aim to provide it with the V20. We'll know more — and hopefully get to put our hands on a V20 — on September 6 when LG unveils the whole package in San Francisco. In the meantime, we can read the press releases. This one is below.
LG V20, WORLD'S FIRST SMARTPHONE WITH QUAD DAC FOR BEST IN CLASS AUDIO
LG and ESS Technology Collaborate to Deliver One-of-a-Kind Audio Experience
SEOUL, Aug. 11, 2016 ― LG Electronics (LG) announced that its forthcoming flagship smartphone, LG V20, will be the first smartphone in the industry to feature 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC (digital to analog converter) capabilities, bringing a superior audio experience to mobile for the very first time.
A Quad DAC delivers a crisp and clear sound that comes closest to a live performance when using compatible wired headphones. The sound is superior to that produced by a traditional DAC as it can reduce up to 50 percent of ambient noise levels. Videos taken with the V20 are accompanied by a soundtrack that can capture the roaring sound of waves crashing on a beach or conversations among two individuals at a noisy party.
LG worked closely with ESS Technology, a leader in high-performance analog and audio devices, to ensure that the Quad DAC, delivered the best audio experience for owners of the LG V20. The Quad DAC is the lynchpin of the many cutting-edge multimedia features included in the LG V20. ESS Technology previously provided its 32-bit Hi-Fi DAC in the V10, LG V20's predecessor.
"As smartphones mature, we're seeing more and more customers looking beyond just fast processors and big displays in their devices," said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics and Mobile Communications Company. "Higher quality audio is simply the natural evolution of the smartphone, as the industry moves toward a more holistic multimedia consumption experience. We're pleased to continue this long-term partnership with ESS and bring best in class audio to LG V20 users."
"We are extremely excited that our Quad DAC technology will be featured in the V20, LG's latest flagship smartphone for consumers who demand the best media experience," said Robert Blair, president and chief executive officer of ESS Technology. "As a technology more typically available in high-end audio equipment, Quad DAC on the V20 will make users feel as if they are carrying around a professional home-audio system on their smartphone."
Sound should be phenomenal!

Will it come with a locked bootloader??
what concerns me slightly is that i have the HiFi DAC module on the G5 and it actually uses a better Sabre DAC chip (their flagship ES9028) over the 9018 in the V20. True there's 4 of the lower end chips in the V20.
correct me if im wrong

I doubt there's any noticeable difference. Either setup is going to be plenty better than the 820 audio setup.
The DAC in the V20 is tempting me tremendously.....BUT, as I approach the purchase of a new headunit in my Z, I plan to use bluetooth streaming of music from my phone to the headunit.....so, if im not mistaken, the DAC is useless for bluetooth users..... someone please correct me if I'm mistaken.

That is true. But I highly recommend you make sure that headunit and your phone supports apt-X codec for the best BT sound possible.

The audio DAC is also tempting for me. I have a Note 4 Development Edition, and a Nissan Altima. The car has XM (which I used for years until the price got too high), a 6 CD changer, and a 3.5mm AUX input. When I use the Note 4 connected to headphones or to the car, I can hear a constant hiss in the background, and if the phone is charging at the same time, I hear electrical interference from that.
Hopefully the V20 doesn't have these issues (not sure if Samsung fixed it on the Note 7).

Problem is that your putting a headphone impedance output into a line level input
Im guessing you need to turn the volume way up too ? Correct

If this is the case, it may be worth trying a USB OTG cable connected to a USB DAC.
I ran this on my Note 3 and connected it to a headphone amp. I think I only paid about £20 for the DAC and under a fiver for the OTG.

I'm not sure what the impedance difference is between the 3.5 mm headphone out on the Note 4, and the 3.5mm AUX Audio input on my 2009 Altima Bose stereo.
But as far as using a USB On The Go cable, I can see connecting it to the phone, but then to a headphone DAC Amp and then to the 3.5mm radio input?
If this is the case, how do you get the music to stream from the phone, via USB, to the DAC?

The phone recognises that there is a USB DAC and sends the audio there. I don't do anything in particular to switch between USB or the 3.5mm jack.
Viper and Poweramp both have USB settings.
The DAC I have is the Stoner Acoustics UD100. I bought it in 2013. I have an old Fiio E5 headphone amp to go with it too.

I think that I would try the V20 by itself first with audio out to the car, before buying external components.
And as far as using it with my Note 4, there would be no way to keep the phobe charge plugged in, if the USB is being used with a DAC.

Yes, of course. If the on-board DAC is adequate and there are no more problems with the hissing, which is why I suggested the external DAC initially.
As for charging, I have seen these but not tried them personally:

Well I tried the Note 4 with my car's AUX input again.
As it turns out, if you plug in the audio cable from the phone to the car first, play a song, then plug in the charger, you don't hear any hiss. But if you stop and exit the music player, while the phone is charging, you can hear an electric sound, and even static when touching the screen.
Honor 6X flaunts with its Dual Camera in CES 2017.
Le Eco releasing its Cool 1 Dual mobile with similar Dual camera setup in India.
The thing is Le Eco features 13+13 MP camera unlike Honor 6X 13+2 MP camera.
So which one is best at this segment ?
How Honor 6X takes over Le Eco competition in Budget dual camera segment?
cool 1 doesnt look too good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiyzNbOUPNs

Honor/Huawei can give competition anytime for camera department in the similar segment (price group).

If the Price is same as Cool 1 then due to Cool 1 battery, Cool 1 will get boosted.
Pricing matters now in India.
I thought that Honor 6X will not only compete in that competition, it will win.
However, comparing 6X with Moto G4 Plus, G4 plus does good job in Video department and does similar to 6X in Photo.
So if it is priced in Note 3 Range, it will be the best. If priced at G4 plus range, it wont fit the place like Honor 8 did.

Honor 6X gives upto 10 hours SOT..using it since couple of weeks now. If do some modification, custom roms or little bit of tweak then can get more for sure.
Honor 6X Takes the lead
I have already seen a couple of shots that were taken with both the Honor 6X and the Coolpad Cool 1, but looks like the images from the Honor 6X are sharper than Cool 1. Also, the saturation is fine on the Honor 6X. However, as I haven't tested both myself can't just conclude which one is better. As far as pricing is concerned, I guess Honor 6X is going to be a more costlier in India than Cool 1, so if any consumer has a limited budget of around Rs. 15,000 than probably he may go for Cool 1.
Finally got a comparison Video for Cool 1 vs Honor 6X.
https://www.youtube.com/results?q=cool+1+dual+vs+honor+6x&sp=EgIIAw%3D%3D
Also seems that Cool 1 Dual has dual tone flash rather than the single tone flash in 6X.
5X was having the Dual tone flash. Sadly they removed it too...
Now Cool 1 is in better position offering everything at 11k while Honor 6x is available for 13K. So Cool 1 wins in terms of price, battery, everything. Its camera is also good and same as Honor 6x but the difference is overexposure in cool 1 which can be sort out by using pro mode and through software updates in future.

I am getting Coolpad cool 1 soon.
I will send the best opinion based on my testing as I also just want to judge both
Consider Moto G5 Plus as well
Tried the Coolpad Cool 1, it's good actually. As of now at this budget, Moto G5 Plus is one of the best in terms of both camera and performance. Coolpad Cool 1 is also almost same, with the perks of dual camera. Honor 6X is a little behind in terms of performance, though its camera is better than Cool 1.
I have an hour and a half to make my decision, no USB-C SUCKS on the Honor 6X. I am torn between each as I have not seen either phone in person. Opinions?
I think you're the same person from reddit? hehe
Honor 6X: Better build quality, slimmer design, more color options, will likely be much more popular due to the Huawei brand presence
Blade V8 Pro: Better specs on paper - USB Type C, AC/5ghz wifi, NFC, 4k video
Honor 6x have NFC and giro, and old USB mains a lot of cable and charger sitting on the tables. I have mine from a couple of days and I feel happy, long lasting battery, good reception. Camera is not top.

I think you get Honor, since it's a bigger brand than Blade and possibly get future development support.
Personally, I would rather get the Honor 8 as it is a flagship spec device. But the Honor 6X isn't too shabby in terms of performance when compared to other devices at the same price range.

You should consider Shanlin MTW100. Been using those since a few months, work amazing, exceptional sound and decent battery life as well.
Right now best in segment is Oppo Enco W31 it costs around INR 3800-4000. Looks great compared to other available in market (Realme buds air, MI TWE 2), has minimum latency, secure fit, decent battery life, ENC in calls, dedicated bass mode and optical wear detection. It doesn't feature whole lot of touch controls, customization options and sound loudness is little less compared to others. It does support AAC codec and K20 Pro has AptX codec so it uses SBC codec but sound output is still top notch. Since your budget is more you can check out Oppo enco free which costs around INR 8000, newly launched Oneplus buds.
