facebook integrated? - HTC U11 Questions & Answers

Hello,
Since when has facebook been integrated into the os system. I'm pretty sure its only since oreo 8.0.
I have a problem with a notification showing on my facebook, I have no new notifications and this will not go away. Its annoying
Went to uninstall facebook and messenger to find out it only rolls back the update to factory installed app. What the hell??
I don't want his on my phone, I want a clean uninstall and reinstall of the app.

Factory installed app is exactly that. It is held in a part of the memory that cannot be modified so the app is as pure as the day it was flashed. To remove it permanently means rooting the phone.
You can disable the app in settings/apps once it has been cleared to default.
Also you should be able to swipe the notification and permanently exclude them from showing. If not then go to settings - apps - Facebook and disable its permissions.
If the notification is one of those dots on the icon then the problem is with sense home. Clear its cache and it should be OK.

[Q] Disable Samsung Calendar Notifications Permanently

I'm guessing this is a bug with the Samsung calendar. I've been using the Google calendar since I've had an Epic Touch (S2) and had this issue on that phone also. After installing the Google calendar, I disable the Samsung calendar by going to Settings -> Set alerts & notifications -> Off. The problem with this is that every time I reboot, the setting resets to "Status bar notification". Because of this I end up with double notifications. Is there any way to make this setting stick? I'm thinking I probably need to uninstall the Samsung calendar or have a script run at boot (Tasker?).

Click to collapse
You can go into settings - application manager - then disable calendar
or
just use root browser and change the touchwiz calendar SJFKDL.bak
I knew it had to be something simple. Didn't even think to look in the application manager. There is a check box for Show Notifications. Unchecked it and no more double notifications. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
This isn't a permanent fix unfortunately! I'm having the same trouble and every morning or throughout the day I have to repeat that process and it doesn't stay disabled. Please advise ASAP

Protected app now gone

I used trebuchet's new feature to protect a folder and now I cannot find the messaging app that was in it. It is the default messenger app. I can get to it from the Google launcher but it had disappeared from trebuchet. I unchecked it from the protected apps list also but still cannot find it. Does anybody know how to get those apps back or where to re-enable them? I also tried resetting the locked apps in the settings menu of the protected apps and that did not bring it back either. Other apps that I set to protected did not disappear like the messenger app did. They all showed back up.

GMail Notification in Status Bar is WONKY?

Don't know how else to put it...
I noticed that if I double-tap the gmail notification on the AOD, I will be taken directly into the email message but the gmail notification does not clear/get dismissed if I just hit the home button. It will dismiss if I hit the back button within the gmail app and go back to the inbox.
However, when I receive 2+ gmails, the notification works properly and dismisses immediately when the app is launched from the AOD notification shortcut.
I thought it was just my phone but I tested it out on my wife's S8+ as well and the same issue <-- she hadn't noticed since she didn't know the AOD notifications were shortcuts...she thought they were redundant notifications so she would just click on the notification through the shade and enter the app (which works correctly and dispatches the gmail notification promptly).
This only occurs when you receive ONE (1) email and enter the gmail app thru the AOD notification. <-- I guess it's a bug (or does Samsung intend to say it's a feature????). Being kinda OCD, it bugs me. But I had to make sure since I just performed a factory reset as my gmail app was crashing on me all day and only a factory reset cured it (yes, I tried force disable, clear cache, clear delete from both the gmail app & google play services; remove account and add my gmail account back; nothing worked except for a full system factory restore and then a manual set up)...<--Ahh, I miss being able to TWRP, use Titanium Backup and do whatever the hell I wanted with my Nexus 5 (and the only reason I had to let it go was that it won't hold a charge for more than 4 - 6 hours tops now).
Roll call and let me know if you guys are facing the same issue. I'd like Samsung to fix it since I don't face this issue on my Nexus 5 or Nexus 7 tablet.
Thanks!

Notifications won't clear from status bar?

Hi Everyone,
Since the middle of last week I have a number of notifications stuck on the status bar. No matter what I do they won't go away and overlay any new ones making them almost impossible to read. Also the time on the status bar is always 11.09.
When I swipe down none of the apps showing are displayed, so I can't clear them that way. There are 5 apps showing, an alarm, a email alert and 3 game alerts. When I go into any app the bar clears and the time is correct, but as soon as the home screen reloads all the notifications come back.
I've rebooted the phone but they just come back afterwards.
It's vanilla Mix 3, not rooted, nothing new installed running the latest updates.
I really don't want to factory reset and some of the apps take a while to set back up!!!
Anyone have an idea on how the clear this??
Thanks.
Could try some of the options here. https://m.wikihow.com/Clear-Message-Notifications-on-Android
Also could try clearing data on your launcher app.
Some launchers also have a reload built into the launcher settings

Lock screen notifications missing

Hello there!
Since the samsung's september security update i have a very annoying problem in my S10 (exynos) with my pop up notifications and generally with the notifications of specific apps like messenger and microsoft outlook.
Specifically in facebook messenger i get neither lock screen notifications and pop ups since then. Although, when i delete the app and redownload it the problem is fixed for about 2-3 hours and then is there again. I have tried everything i found (clear the cache from recovery menu, disable battery optimization, enable all the notification settings in the menus, download an older version etc.) but in the end i have the same result.
Is there any other idea on how to get this problem solved ?
