I'm guessing this is a bug with the Samsung calendar. I've been using the Google calendar since I've had an Epic Touch (S2) and had this issue on that phone also. After installing the Google calendar, I disable the Samsung calendar by going to Settings -> Set alerts & notifications -> Off. The problem with this is that every time I reboot, the setting resets to "Status bar notification". Because of this I end up with double notifications. Is there any way to make this setting stick? I'm thinking I probably need to uninstall the Samsung calendar or have a script run at boot (Tasker?).

You can go into settings - application manager - then disable calendar
or
just use root browser and change the touchwiz calendar SJFKDL.bak
I knew it had to be something simple. Didn't even think to look in the application manager. There is a check box for Show Notifications. Unchecked it and no more double notifications. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
This isn't a permanent fix unfortunately! I'm having the same trouble and every morning or throughout the day I have to repeat that process and it doesn't stay disabled. Please advise ASAP

I never want to receive an email notification for a calendar event. I hate getting 2 notifications for the same thing (I always set a popup). I am assuming that this is a default Android action as it happens on both my Tab and my Blade.
Anyone know how to turn off this default setting? Or change it to popup? I've looked everywhere I can think of.
TIA

I think you need to go to web Google Calendar and set the default 'Notifications' options in the settings of the calendar in question. There are options to set it to pop-up and/or e-mail and/or sms. You can also control how updates in events are handled.

Trust me to be looking in the wrong place!
What was weird was I needed to turn all the invitation notifications off even if though I've never set an invitation up when creating an event.
But I'm sorted and happy - thank you
Alright I think I'm stuck for once. Facebook calendar notification of birthdays will not go away from the lock screen. I cannot uninstall facebook or freeze the program because it wont let me without root and TB. I've changed all my facebook settings and friend stream to not sync calendar and done a couple of reboots. These events wont show up in my calendar now either google or phone sense calendar anymore but im still stuck with the popup on lockscreen. Even when i drag the notification to the ring it brings me to calendar and the event doesnt exist anymore according to it.
Is there a way to get rid of this short of factory reset/root TB and freeze. My beautiful lockscreen is made ugly with this and would like to find a solution. Thanks in advance.
Hey, I had the same problem. What i did to fix it was to go into calendar and untick everything except the calendars I wanted. I also went to the lockscreen settings and chose them. After that, just restart and you should be good to go
i will give it a shot and report back.
edit: it was the lockscreen settings under personalize that did it for me... thanks again still getting used to sense coming from touchwiz.
It seem push notification does not work well with Mate 7... for instance... whatsapp web.. in order for it to read messages at all I need to push the power button constantly to wake it up from sleep..

I don't know if this has been solved but their is a option on mate 7 which allows you to toggle between notification push and how you handle it when screen is off.
Go into protected apps and enable it and make sure notification manager is set to allow.
i dont see notification manager in protected app.
it's in settings.
Under "privacy & security" you'll see Notification manager and Protected Apps.
From main settings i have only security option no privacy&security.Mine mate 7 is 09-european version.
I'd suggest taking a look at your settings again.
Under "Privacy & Security" section you have:
- Location Access
- Do not disturb
- Notification Manager
- Protected Apps
- Security
- Fingerprint ID
- Backup & Reset
Yes i was in restricted and notification options but there is no option to set notification manager to allow, notify or restrict options.Notification manager is not on the list of apps for which you can set this 3 options or notification manager is with some other name in the main list.

Hi guys,
I am facing a strange issue since I installed the latest update on my S7. The notifications for S Planner events, that are shown when you pull down the top menu disappear after 1 hour. It used to stay there until I cleared them out manually.
I also tried Business Calendar 2 pro. Same thing happens there.
This is very annoying as I leave the notifications there until I deal with them and if they disappear I just forget that I was supposed to take care of something.
I was trying to find the setting that is controlling this with no luck. I really hope that this is a matter of setting or a bug.
Could someone help me with this please?
Thank you.
Same here. I have installed Google calendar - the same happens.
Any solutions anyone?
same here.
i also tried google calendar, but it does the same-
the reminders disappear after the event's time is up
====================================================
EDITED - Solution
I found a workaround solution: i installed "Events Notifier for Calendar".
One of the app's features is configuring how a reminder stops: manually stopped, when the event starts or when the event ends.
So now i can still see my reminder notifications, even when they disappear from the calendar notification since their time was up.
Bump. Anyone figure this out yet?
Google search (with quotes): "Samsung or Google Have Screwed Up the S Planner App".
You can try Samsung's alternate UI, "Good Lock"
It has two tabs in your notification pull down where you can store notifications you want to save for later.
I got my Note 10 Plus today and everything on it. Anyway, the notification icons do NOT show up on the always on, or on the notification bar on the home screen and on the app buttons. Like if I want to check Gmail or my Samsung email app I have to manually go in and check it.
I checked the apps permissions and I got notifications set on for all of them.
What gives?
Do I need to do factory reset?

Probably a quick toggle accidentally pushed. Check things like do not disturb settings and meeting sync etc.

Me also. Shows Sprint. I get notifications from my V40 which is how I know mail is in unless I check manually.
My Gmail wasn't updating in the background until I went to app settings and TURNED OFF battery optimization for Gmail. It looks like the phone kills the app to save battery, thus stopping new email notifications coming through until you open the app

My GF has a Note 8 and regardless of the settings it loves putting apps to sleep which causes missed notifications. My OP6T used to occasionally get missed notifications but compared to the Note 8 it's very well behaved.
Companies are getting too aggressive with their battery optimisations
I am having this issue as well. I have scoured the web for answers. I have tried all fixes but nothing seems to work. Anyone find a resolve yet?
I had the same issue then figured out it happened with the Goodlock app. Instead of trying to tweak the settings in just uninstalled the app and got all of my notifications back!
