Xposed on P20? - Huawei P20 Questions & Answers

I found a thread describing how to enable Xposed on the P20 pro
https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-pro/how-to/guide-xposed-clt-l29-t3778413
I'm rooted with Magisk - does above approach even work for the EML-L29 or isn't there a chance to be successful?
I found a module for modifying the status bar appearance, which I loved to use on my old LG G6 and I would like to use even on my P20...

It does work.

Following the advise and using the file for P20 pro?
So I will give it a try.
Thanks

Nah, I just manually installed the zip in TWRP. Didn't even know about the guide. I googled xposed oreo and the xda thread popped up. Downloaded the zip, flashed and that's it.

Hello, thanks for the reply.
I did a search in google, and tried that first link you posted. The iRoot method wanted to put some weird stuff inside my phone, and even the root wasn't succesfull. And when I look it up in this website, how to root the Mate 9 version, I can see it's quite a process, so I guess those blogs are just scaming us.

It's weird you haven't received any update. B130 is from January. There is a new B141 from August, so that might be coming your way soon. The B3xx seem to be EMUI 5. I can build a twrp for you, but you'll have to test it. You could probably try the one released for Mate 9, it might work. If not you just flash back stock B130 recovery.
I'll be able to build it tonight, at the movies now with kids

You'd have to use the Flash and rebrand guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-update-package-t3593108. that one has modified stock recoveries. However, none for Lite. I could check and compare Lites recovery to mate 9, if it's not too different it should be easy to make the changes needed. Else you could ask @mankindtw nicely to make it

I'll just check and see what mankindtw did in the other recoveries. It's just a few bytes in 2 files to change. So I'll basically compare your recovery to mine and/or the others in that flash thread and see if there's much difference. If it is you'll have to ask mankindtw as he might know what to look for.
Edit: I will check when I get home

It's too different. If it was just changing the bytes I could do it, but file size is almost half of my recovery image. Lol.
However, you should be able to use TWRP for P9 Lite. It seems to be basically the same device, both are named hi6250 (compared fstab, they're identical and named fstab.hi6250 ).

It's not for sure. I'm just saying the P9 Lite and Mate 9 Lite seem to be identical. So you'll have to test. lol
In case it doesn't work you can just flash back stock recovery.
It's the same if I were to build it, it's not certain it would work as I can't test it myself.
But you should probably wait for mankindtw to patch the recovery image.
And if you install that TWRP, it will probably be in chinese by default.
you can look at section 2.1 here https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p9lite/how-to/guide-unlock-bootloader-twrp-root-t3405701
to change it to english. If you'll just use it to update to EMUI 5.0 it doesn't really matter.
And when/if you update to EMUI 5.0, you'll want to flash this TWRP instead: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p9lite/development/twrp-t3588356
If you want TWRP that is.

I have been having issues with my phone, so I'm not sure if you received my previous messages or not (cannot find them in sent PMs), but my name is Vince, and need some MAJOR help...
I was referred to you by someone by the XDA name of ante0, and he mentioned to me in passing that you are the master at creating modified stock recoveries. I was hoping that you'd be able to help me out?
I just recently bought a Huawei Mate 9 Lite (BLL-L23)
that has old software on it. The current build is BLL-L23C605B130, the custom version is CUSTC605D001, and EMUI is 4.1; however, I know that there are builds that are much more recent. My phone, for the life of me, just simply cannot upgrade to the recent firmware via official means.
I recently heard of Firmware Finder and found the latest firmware for my device - but, it tells me under Check Firmware Status, "Firmware not approved for installation." I also heard that there is a way to install that firmware by bypassing authorization.
I would really appreciate it if you would be so kind to create for me a modified stock recovery for my device.
I don't know any other developers who can do so, and I'm definitely not a developer myself, haha. I can't explain why my device won't update, because I know that the most recent build is B364? If I flash the software by bypassing authorization, will everything still work perfectly?
Thank you very much, Mankindtw, for your consideration... I would be extremely grateful for your help, my friend.

Hello! I gave up...
I followed some steps, reading topics from this site.
I could unlock my bootloader (now everytime I power my phone I got a message reminding me that xD)
But I couldn't install the twrp, tested some adb softwares, but nothing... always got some kind of error. And I never get a clear explanation about those chinese .exe softwares to install twrp and those stuff.

It has been pull out officially due to bugs.
The tool recommended is working okay and I am grateful for the work, but you cannot lock the bootloader without issues after using it. Therefore I agree with the recommendation of @RAJEEV And would also highly recommend to use either the MiFlash tool or one of the by Xiaomi provided scripts for flashing.

That's tough to answer.....it's all a manner of opinion really. I had slightly better SOT though in emui 5 (since its running Android Nougat) where as emui 8 us Android Oreo. Truthfully I flashed an AOSP ROM after I upgraded to emui 8 because once you go to emui 8 / Android Oreo, it enables treble support. I'm not a big fan of emui in the first place though. However, the AOSP ROM's are newer so they are still wip when it comes to working 100% for the huawei mate 9.
May I ask what custom ROM you are using? And how do you find it? What's your SOT?

Download firmware from http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/ (if available) and unpack update.app from update.zip
Open update.app in Huawei Update Extractor and extract ramdisk.img, this is the boot image file that magisk manager needs to patch.

You'll obviously have to go back to stock first. And then hisuite should work to upgrade to Oreo. Just trying to think what the best way to return to stock would be for your model version and get you upgraded to Oreo.

[MOD][ROOT] Enable all lockscreen weather effects

Hi folks,
I've seen on the forums that people are modding their LGKeyguardEffect.apk to be able to get more weather effects on their lockscreen for years. Yesterday I tried the same thing and after looking around in the decompiled app, I discovered that this app is actually reading a boolean from build.prop to determine if the extra effects should be enabled or not. The effects that will be unlocked are sunny and cloudy.
Instead of hacky smali edits and breaking the app signature, you can just add "ro.product.brand_dsny=true" to build.prop and reboot. If you updated to Android 9, the line must be "ro.product.lge.brand_dsny=true" because LG changed that for some reason. In case you're wondering: dsny stands for Disney, yes.
Don't forget to enable the feature under Settings - Lock screen & security - Customize Lock screen - Weather animation
This mod is confirmed to work on:
LG G7: Android 8.0
LG G6: Android 7.0
LG G4: Android 7.0
LG V30: Android 8.0
LG V20: Android 7.0, Android 8.0
LG V10: Android 7.0
I expect it to work on more LG roms with LGKeyguardEffect version 1.0.02
A very simple Magisk module can be found in the attachments that does the work for you
Feel free to share this thread url to spread awareness!

Making changes with build.prop with Build.Prop Editor from Play Store but nothing has changed. Then I just flashed the zip module with Magisk and voila, it is working good without any hassle.

And AFAIK this tweak is a first. I know a dev has included it in his magisk module after I posted about it, but that's all
On G6 h870 oreo module and editing build.prop do not work, causes bootlop. Guess there has to be other way to made it done

Can you drop your LGKeyguardEffect.apk? I'll take a look. There is a possibility some other app uses this tweak too and causes the bootloop. A logcat may help to determine the issue. I'm just curious what the cause is. Not promising a solution

Thanks, but I found a soluion myself
I have added apk
I have to try something else, it only unlocked cloudy effect
edit:
okey, magisk module is working, it was issue on my side - when I installed rom from zip, all the time when I update magisk modules I have to install bootloader&modem zip (I do not know why) or it falls in a bootloop.
Now it is WORKING with original LGKeyguardEffect.apk!
So I can confirm it works on LG G6 h870.

Running Nougat (H-ROM port v2.2). But I already had full effects unlocked on Marshmallow with Genesys custom ROM. As I said, never tweaked on that part, must be a move from the devs that integrated a custom LGKeyguardEffect then
Added APK.
Using on V30+, works great. Thanks.

sorry for the late answer !
well it works now, don't know why... I didn't install anything else xD
weird :cyclops:
I can confirm it works on LG V10 H960 running V30C version (Android 7.0). LG Keyguard version 1.0.02
Adding
Code:
ro.product.brand_dsny=true
to build.prop works, ro.build.brand_dsny=true does not.
Edit: LG G7 Oreo stock.

(Solved) How to update to MIUI 11 when rooted?

Hello everyone. Sorry, I'm a noob so please be patient with me. My RN7P is rooted with Magisk, has Peter's TWRP and EdXposed. I have MIUI_V10.3.13.0.PFHINXM. How do I update to MIUI 11? Do i just download the Indian ROM (from here: https://www.xda-developers.com/download-miui-11-xiaomi-redmi-note-7-pro-poco-f1/amp/), and install it through TWRP, or do I also need to do something else, do I have to make sure that something is right? I just want to make sure that I don't break my device.
So, I just received the update from the updater app and I wanted to know, can I just download the package from there and flash it through TWRP?
