The root guide linked in that post doesn't work as the files are corrupted/are viruses.

Alright, I will check that.
Someone else made a neat one-click style installer based off of that, which gets stuck at Download Mode(or the 'Firmware Update' part) at 45%, similar to the screenshot.

I've read posts of people who have been able to do so by removing all their "su" apps (including Xposed and all its modules) --> performing an unroot & uninstall using SuperSU --> unblocking/enabling all the blocked/disabled apps using Debloater --> flashing the stock unrooted image for your version (10g in my case) using the LER method and then as a last step hopefully taking + installing the FOTA update.

Read through this and many more posts. still cant update. there has to be a reason. Maybe build.prop? I tried rerooting, reinstalling xposed, i had no apps frozen(checked with debloater), uninstalled xposed, full unroot with super su. Then tried to take ota no dice. Tried factory reset still nothing. I dont know what i could be missing.

It is usually best to explain your resolution, it could prevent other users from asking the same question later.

sorry for the gaffe. my bad.
I just follow the steps in this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/general/guide-how-to-root-moto-g-2015-model-t3448572. It works if the device is not updated.
However, to update, you can not have root or TWRP. Then you have to reinstall the STOCK (21.24). After upgrading to 21.44 and 24.51, the root does not install.

Thanks.
But, in original post is something about changing files. It is very interesting thing.
When using general guide, need to download whole rom in one thread and with slow speed.
I downloaded rom via download master in 5-7 threads with 5-7 times faster.
Then need to do something special... I'm confusing at this moment.
Too bad i couldn't flash the update in recovery, but there must be way to bypass the security check same as funkyhuawei.
