App that can auto change brightness px5? - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

So, ive got a px5 with malaysk marshmallow rom.
The problem ive got is that no matter what app or permissions i give the apps (lux, car launcher AG, and so on) cant adjust the brightness. They can only change it in "mask" mode, that fakes the brightness change.
Is there any app or module that can really change it? I would like to have full brightness during day and lowest during night.

Don't you have connected the illumination wire of the headunit?
By this wire...the unit can dim brightness when car lights on.

I dont really know as the harness came all setup for my model specific head unit. But i dont want i to dim when lights are on, since in Sweden we must have lights on at all times by law. I just want it on full brightness during day and on lowest during night. Car launcher AG got this function, and it works on my phone, but not on my hu. Only mask mode works, but that is no good.

[app] ScreenOff

Hi guys, if you think how the power button will break sometime because it feels so fragile, maybe you want to use this app. I made this app for personal use, but I do want to share with you.
This app basically only make the screen brightness to 0 (zero), and you gotta wait for 10 seconds to let Android call the lock screen.
nb:
if you didn't wait till time out (10 secs), you are still basically locking it manually. that means you have to press the hardware button twice to wake the screen up
Is it possible to change this in a way you can control how bright the screen is? The lowest setting is '12' that i can get and even that is nearly too bright indoors for me
I havent seen an all that does that

You should try an app called LUX. It will allow you to drop the brightness below the standard brightness.

Lux is a pay app and reading description in market says nothing about dimming below stock settings.
Screen adjust otoh actually can lower brightness to zero can also modify color and contrast too. Best of all it's free. Been looking forever for something like this that works in honeycomb as lowest stock brightness is still too bright for nighttime reading for me.

Nexus 5 auto brightness problems?

Hey guys,
I'm using my new nexus 5 for about two days now and something seems to be wrong with auto brightness (at least) on my device. The phone makes the screen brighter just fine, but dimming it when it gets in a dark environment doesn't seem to work really well. Can someone give this a try please?
Just turn off the lights in a room and see if the screen adjusts correctly. On mine it doesn't.
Turning on and off auto brightness fixes the issue but as soon as the screen gets brighter again, the problem starts...
Thanks in advance

Good spot, I seem to experience this as well ! Exactly as you say works fine until the brightness gets set higher then it wont ever fall back its as if it can never lower only increase brightness.... odd!
Did you give it a minute to adjust?
Since my Nexus 5 isn't here yet this is what I've observed on stock Android in the Galaxy Nexus and other phones:
While it should go down after some time it's pretty common for auto brightness not to dim down as soon as it gets darker. You don't want your brightness to jump up and down just because the lighting changes for a second. And since turning the brightness up is much more relevant than down it goes up almost instantly but before dimming back down it monitors the environment for a while.
When you turn auto brightness off and on again you force the sensor into a new reading so this should set the brightness to the correct level without delay.
But it wouldn't be the first time auto brightness was bugged on a phone.
The delay really annoyed me on my tablet running vanilla 4.2 so installed lux which works well. You set the brightness how you want it at a given light level and then it sets the brightness according to the ambient light each time you wake it up and holds that setting until the next time you wake it up... best of both worlds.

You're right gokpog,it does work I just didn't give it time. It took around 10 seconds to change the backlight levels which is much longer than the nexus 4 which is why I didn't notice it. Hopefully there is a more sensitive curve in the future

Yep this has been the case with stock android for a while. Feature or flaw you decide but it is what it is and is across the board no matter what device if its using stock android on it

Well it doesn't seem to work as expected to me: go to a bright place, then to a very dark one. Yes it will dim a bit but not quite enough. Remain in the dark room and turn off auto brightness. Then turn it on again. The screen will get significantly darker than it was before

I have find too that the automatic brightness take time to decrease brightness, also increase, but the most annoying is that with the same level of light and without moving the phone, the brightness goes up and down erratically, without a reason, it didn't happen with any of my previous phones
I just installed this app today, I've had similar problems that weren't present on my N4. With this app running, when I turn the phone screen toward a light, it brightens, and back to face a darker place it dims almost immediately. To give me more battery life I've tuned the brightness curve to be a bit low, N5's auto seemed to be too bright for me overall anyway. Be sure to tinker with both the settings and advanced settings areas, by default the changes are sharp but you can make them fade instead. Fixed the problems I had at least.

I have the same problem with my Nexus 5.
Additionally, since day one, I've noticed that the phone consistently auto adjusts the screen to be slightly brighter than necessary given the ambient light.
I just noticed this issue last night, or at least it's similar. I was reading in bed for a few hours and occasionally (maybe every 15 minutes) the screen would suddenly dim to about half brightness and then brighten back to where it was originally. It was driving me nutz. I've also had a few random reboots, though not while I was using it. I'd notice it on my table booting up. FYI, this is stock with the latest update, no root or unlocking, and still has plenty of free space in memory. I've only had it for about 4 days.

Problem with keyboard while charging!

Hi all, I have a really annoying problem with my brand new nexus 5 black 32gb when using the keyboard and the phone is charging at the same time (with included wall charger) not with the pc usb.
The problem happens when I'm using any keyboard that supports gesture input like swiftkey or the stock Google keyboard, and what happens is that while the phone is charging and I try to swype or flow any word the keyboard is not responsive, I don't know exactly how to explain this, but it seems like it jumps all over the place so it's impossible to write! It's really unresponsive only when flowing or swyping a word, when I use the usual tap to write is Ok, and I need to know if this is a problem with my unit only or if this is a general issue, but I couldn't find anything on the Web...
I remember that this same thing happened to me in the past with a motorola defy and an atrix...
So, can anyone please try this for me and tell how is yours doing?
Thanks in advance!

Are you using a third party cable?
try a different charger
I'm using stock charger and cable, and it happens randomly, not always... Is driving me crazy!
Enviado desde mi Nexus 5 mediante Tapatalk
I guess just diagnose the problem. As simms said, try a different charger. Try the same charger on a different outlet. Try an outlet in another location (i.e. not your home). If this has happened with your previous phones, and the only constant between them is the outlet you're using, perhaps that's the problem.

Yes I will try all that, but I need to know if someone experience this problem as well, and like I said before not always happens, it's a random problem, and maybe when the phone is a bit hot because of the charger... I don't know...

Keyboard and general responsiveness of the phone can be affected by the voltage of the charger, so using a third party charger can potentially cause the problem you seem to be having. Since you're using the stock charger, I would assume it's the outlet.

OK, no luck... I tried on the power outlet of my house and still the same problem, after using the keyboard for a while it starts to act weird and jump... I also noticed that when I unplug the wall charger from the wall it does a weird noise for a few seconds or a minute and then stops.
But the thing is that the problem with the keyboard still exists on a different place...
I'm really worried that I received I faulty phone, cause I'm not in the US so I cannot start a RMA form...

Try a different charger (a friends etc) And try a different building to plug into (like at work or a friends house)

I had that happen with a Verizon charger one time when I had my razr it was under powered and when I used it the keyboard went all crazy
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
This is the problem of charger
Your problem is not so big to being scared. You just need to try out another charger. If new charger works effectively then continue to use new charger. Gook Luck ...
Thanks for all your answers!
I tried using my n7 2012 wall charger on the n5 and again the same problem.. So it's not the charger
I don't know what to think...
This happens after texting for a while if the phone is charging and the battery is almost fully charged like on 95% and up. Maybe it's because it gets warm and the screen starts acting weird because of this... I don't know, I really hate this!
I searched all over the Web and couldn't find any other case like this, so... Maybe people don't noticed this problem or its just a problem with my phone only.

Unit reboots whenever I turn on engine

I've upgraded my erisin 3015v to the latest firmware from december 2016. Now, whenever I turn on engine the unit reboots. If I take off the contact key, the unit goes to sleep. Then I insert the key again and the unit wake up normally. At this moment if I turn on the engine the unit reboots completely.
Anybody with the same issue?
Regards!

Check your voltage....if starting the car the voltage drops you could suffer from cold reboots
Enviado desde mi D6603 mediante Tapatalk
Yes, it's true Iker, but it started hapening when I upgraded firmware, so I think it's related with some kind of adjustment or software bug...
However, I will do some checks...
Regards!
The update was Firmware or mcu (or both)?
Enviado desde mi D6603 mediante Tapatalk
Both. First were mcu and firmware. At this point the problems appeared. Then I upgraded only mcu with a more recent version, but the problems persist.
First if all identify if the problem persists with the mcu version you had previously. Why the mcu? Because it is easier to update
Enviado desde mi D6603 mediante Tapatalk
I think it could be due to battery voltage drops when turning on engine. I've been made some measurements and the voltage drops until 8,5v. It's pretty low, but testing the unit with a laboratory power source at 8.5v the unit goes to sleep but then wakes up normally when the voltage returns to a normal value. I have to lower voltage until 6,5v for the unit to restart. Perhaps the battery voltage drops until that value but the multimeter does not have enough time to show this value because the engine starts quickly and the voltage returns to normal values? It's difficult to say... The only way should be buying a new battery, but nowadays the engine runs quickly and I don't want to spend money only to be sure if this is the problem or not...
had the same problem in cold winter mornings. maybe your battery is weak

My solution was to build a small circuit with a low resistance ultracapacitor and several diodes. My interior lights sometimes go to half brightness while starting. Currently I have a rented car, the entertainment system resets when starting and disconnects Bluetooth. It is odd that it just started happening for you.

Then we must hope someone in here know what to do.
Lets update in here if we one day find a way to fix it [emoji1303]

Light can be overridden by app

Thx, but that really not an option for me and not a normal way to do it on, must be a normal way.
Byw it must be a error, so think and hope they will correct it in a coming update.
Happening to me as well. Appears to randomly decide to set brightness to low level, even though auto brightness is turned off.
The power management system goes overboard killing apps. I've had to override many manually. I think it's coming from that system.
