The kernel has been updated from 4.4.126 to 4.4.128 as well.

How can I safely install this update if I'm already rooted? Would prefer to not have to wipe my data.

I uninstalled Magisk and then side loaded the update using ADB, it went fine.

Maybe more. It seems to have fixed the difficulty I had connecting to a Sony camera on WiFi.

As far as I know, the kernel has been updated too.

Seems like my data connection has gone downhill since I did this. Probably coincidence, but I loaded this the other day and now have noticed slow data speeds. Still showing LTE+ with AT&T but speed tests show download speeds at less than 1 Mbps, if I can even get it to connect.

Seems like this May update broke my Android Auto. I updated to P Preview and AA worked fine. I reverted back to May and it doesn't work again. I reverted back to March and working fine again.
I have a '17 Honda Pilot with rooted HU. Only other thing I can think of is needing to take it to Honda to get a TSB installed on the HU.

Android OS Data Usage

Lately my Android OS has been using A LOT of data. I'm just curious to see if anyone else has had the issue.
In the last 30 days, my Android OS has used approx. 27 GB.
I am rooted, and was on NDE63V when this occurred.
I am currently in the process of updating my phone to the latest firmware for (what I believe is) only Canadian carriers. So I am hoping the solves the issue.
I downloaded a data usage app which helps limit apps from using data, and tells me which ones are doing it.
Currently, through this app my usage falls under:
Android System - 11 GB
com.qti.service.colorservice - 6.8 GB
com.qualcomm.atfwd - 6.8 GB
com.qualcomm.fastdormancy - 3.8 GB
At first it was just the fastdormancy one that was getting me, until I went into TiBU and froze it. After that, it stopped using data but the other 3 really started eating up my data.
I feel like I was going to post more in this, so if anyone wants more relevant information, please let me know. I really need this figured out. I have had to upgrade my plan from 10gb to 25 gb and now I am already 8gb over my limit. Last night I was 4gb under it. My phone has somehow used 12 gb in roughly 14 hours.
I checked my brothers stock Pixel XL, and Android OS has used only (but still seems like a lot) 300mb. Which I attributed to his update to the latest firmware for Canadian carriers, which was roughly 260mb.
Can anyone help shed some light onto what is happening with my data?
Possibly related to the seemless update function failing because of root. The pixel can't apply the update and keeps downloading it over and over again. for me applying the latest OTA fixed the issue. another solution is to disable the automatic updates in the developer options
Sent from my Pixel using XDA-Developers mobile app
My mobile data usage has doubled after moving to the PIxel despite near identical usage to previous phone.
For me com.qti.service.colorservice is the culprit but have no idea why or what it is for.

That's what I was thinking. I just applied the update last night and re rooted. Everything seems fine so far. I'll have a better idea at the end of the day.

Bummer! I was hoping it was a setting fix. Still not sure why it started happening for no reason. I'll have to back up my data, wipe, sideload the update, re-root, then restore my data. I was hoping to avoid all that mess, but it seems to be the only way to apply the update.

I never had to do that to update to the latest. I just followed this guide.

You do lose root and that sorta thing but you do not lose any data doing this.

That is a guide to manually update your phone through fastboot. The toolkit will do all of that without typing any commands just choose no when it asks to format data and you will not lose data.

To each their own. Just simply stated the way that I did it to not lose data as I prefer manually doing it.
I had the EXACT same issue that I struggled with. There's a bug on the build you're on and it'll keep trying to download that OTA as long as you have data enabled (regardless if Wifi is enabled - ARG!!!).
I just got over $50 in usage charges that I know of, then I left my phone on with data and my bill says $600..... I flashed NMF26Q and it corrected the issue. Only a mb or two every few hours. With this bug, I was downloading a gig a day! Need to call my carrier and see if they'll credit some of those charges. Hope this helps!
my phone used over 110gb of data last month because of this error I am getting a refund from verizon now but has anyone figured out the problem? I just updated to the latest version and hope it stops killing my data otherwise i dont know what to do
Sideloaded 7.1.1 from 7.1 tonight.
Hope this fixes my issue!
Thanks for the help gents!

Oneplus One OTA System Updates not working. Shows no update.

Hi Guys,
I had recently updated my Oneplus One to 5.0.2 through OTA system updates. Now I wanted to update the same to 5.1.1 (i.e OS 12.1). But the problem is that I am not able to see the system updates anymore. It says the System is up to date whereas it's not the case in reality. It also asks to update cyanogen recovery, which I ignore. Attaching the snapshots of device for your reference.
The device is NOT rooted. I tried switch OFF and Switch ON multiple times. I also manually force stopped the System Update app, cleared it's cache, disabled it then enabled it. tried all combinations for the same. But no luck.
Can someone please advice what should I do to see the system updates as usual the way I was seeing earlier? Thanks for your help.
Its seems images are not visible. I have raised the same question on OPO forums. Here is the link to see the images: https:// forums.oneplus.net/threads/oneplus-one-ota-system-updates-not-working-shows-no-update.500862/

Thanks a lot for this information. In that thread, its mentioned that "there are two different versions of some OTA updates." In such a case can I go ahead and install any of the zip file? I will be downloading the incremental updates which are similar to System updates. Please let me know.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I actually have that app and it shows me the new update for 5.1.1 too. But the issue is when I first tried to update thru this app from kitkat to 05Q update, it somehow messed up my device. The zip installed was somehow corrupt due to which the installation had issues. Thats why I am actually worried to take that risk again.
That screwed up installation thru that app was the reason why I switched to OTA system updates which updated from 05Q to 5.0.2 lollypop. And now I cant see cyanogen system updates as it seem to have died.
Are you sure that app has no issues at all? Have you updated till 5.1.1 or 6.0.1 using that app? Please let me know.

Thanks a lot for your help man. But flashing and factory reset will wipe the mobile data I guess. I don't really want to do that. I need to keep the mobile data intact. Also, will it be advisable to jump from 5.0.2 to 6.0 directly? Or should I go incrementally only?

I can also see the full update option. But if I do full update directly, will it wipe all data from my device? I am not sure about it. Can you confirm whether your data was wiped when you updated from Kitkat to the latest marshmallow thru this App? That would help me decide. Or if anyone else can confirm the same, that would also help.

Android O Carrier OTA and Data

When the Android O OTA update is available from my carrier, will updating wipe out data? I know we can get the update files and manually flash them (right now without having to wait for carriers), but that will wipe data which I'd like to avoid doing. But if the carrier OTA will wipe the data anyways, then there's no reason to wait
As a side note, with other phones I probably would have rooted by now, but it honestly hasn't seemed necessary with the Pixel yet. Since I haven't rooted so far, I'd kind of like to avoid it. The only thing I wish I had right about now is TWRP and Titanium Backup :/... that would make updates wiping data irrelevant.

Nevermind, now irrelevant
Enrolling in the beta program (https://www.google.com/android/beta) will give you the update immediately, without wiping anything.

That's what I've just done also.
Does frustrate me that they release the carrier supported updates before those with sim free devices

If I do this and am offered the update from Google, do I first need to return to stock? I'm on PureNexus right now. I assume that would cause issues if I tried to update?

Try cleaning the cache from the "Google Play Services" app so that it can update freshly.

You have to be fully stock and unrooted to take an OTA. There are some mild exceptions but I'm not going to go into all the details. You defnitely can't take stock ROM OTAs when you're running a custom ROM such as PureNexus.

TA-1062 Pie update

I have the TA - 1062 and I've just recieved the update regurarly.
The update file is 1.4GB. I did the update to 9.0 and with it self the september security update.
At first it was a bit stuttery but after a few reboots, the phone is running smooth. Nothing is missing, everything is there.
The gesture navigation is there as well as the digital wellbeing (but I had to apply for the beta programme).
I have a feeling that the battery is a bit worse but I'm yet to confirm that.
Every app is compatible, there was no need for reinstalling or hard resseting.
So I prefer waiting for the regular update apart from side loading because before the installation there was an optimization process going which is important I presume for the apps installed on Oreo.

There is literally no difference between sideloading and OTA.
i used a force method described here and it worked for me to receive the update; no side-load necessary.

I dunno what y'all talking about this update has improved so much for me in terms of usability and smooth operation
For manual installing April update, it's suggest to upgrade the platform-tool from https://developer.android.com/studio...orm-tools.html or the upgrade process will fail ....
Also, don't know why after upgrade (from factory image without -W option), Magisk v19 can no longer root the system... (TWRP installation is success but when reboot into the system it's not rooted). <--Edit: I uninstalled the Magisk Manager apk and reinstall and got root again!
Anyone else has same problem?

Tried V19 and V18.1 and both has the same problem. After update the April update, it seems Magisk Manager needs to be uninstall/re-install to detect root... (even after TWRP flash zip is done ok.)
Installed April update with no-wipe. Followed up with TWRP 3.2.3-3, Magisk v19.0 and Kiriskura kernel 2.1.3

If you find a solution, I'd like to know it. My wife's P3 has this issue. In fact, she had the same issue on her OG Pixel. I do not have the issue on my 3 XL nor did I have it on my OG XL. There is some info here and on reddit, but mostly it is folk throwing $hit against the wall. Google has recommended full wipe as well as deleting and adding the profile back, but I am not going to bother unless that is a known fix.
