Hi I'm new to the z5 forums and I'm looking for any non root mods for my z5 as I cannot unlock the bootloader so I'm limited to non root mods any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Thanks for the help
If any apps cause trouble (or you don't like them) you can attempt to disable them via adb:
(for this you need to enable "USB debugging" via "developer options": Settings -> about phone -> Build number -> Tap 7 times)

Not sure what exactly you're looking for ...

I can't officialy unlock my bootloader so stuff like the adb you have linked me to will help a great deal obviously I can't really do much else but sometimes there is one or two things you can do without root

The main thread is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=976605 but I can't reply to it (too new). I know there is some sort of security setting I need to change to put it in developers mode before the program will work...but can someone tell me what/where to make the chances. I can't seem to find it. Thanks!
OK, found that. You need to enable USB debugging mode in your phone (Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging).
But when I plugged in the phone in debugging mode, it needed to install ADB drivers and can't find them. Where do I get them?
You will need to install the Android SDK on your computer. google it.
Apparently you also need Java SE Development Kit 6 Update 25

Couldn't find firmware (Allwinner & AllwinnerTech dot com), couldn't find USB drivers (never could get pc & tablet to see each other) - frustration & ignorance (I'm newb as it gets) allow me to ask why you need a Win device to root an Android device? I still don't know the answer to that, but I successfully rooted my tablet without a pc & here's how I did it:
1) dl these to your tablet:
-- "framaroot 1.5.1" (source: xda-developers "Alephzain" THANK YOU) :good:
-- a file manager (source: google play store - I have ASTRO)
-- "root checker" (source: google play store)
2) pre-root tablet settings:
-- settings>security>device administration> enable "unknown sources"
-- settings>developer options> enable "usb debugging"
3) run "framaroot 1.5.1" - it's done in an instant. run "root checker" to verify. :victory:
4) go back into settings & disable "unknown sources" & "usb debugging"
After reading so many pc req'd root methods, I'm really curious to find which devices this method WON'T work on (& why).
This tablet was a gift & something I felt safe using as a learning tool before trying anything fancy on my LG MS910 phone.
It already has ICS 4.0.4 on it & is obscure enough where it won't surprise me if I never find a 100% functional JB ROM (I keep reading about touchscreen issues) - but little successes (like this root) motivate me to continue learning & experimenting.
Thanks for letting me share.

Settings / About
hit many times the Build Version to enable Developer Menu
Enable options for dev
and enable ADB (USB Debug)
So I'm trying to root my Droid Maxx post 12.15.15 System Update and I'm having trouble. I'm not new to rooting, but I am inexperienced using ADB commands.
Anyways, like any non-lazy person would do I've researched, and searched, endlessly on how to achieve root. I found the "RockMyMoto" exploit, but I'm having problems and looking for help. Before I go on it is my understanding "RockMyMoto" is for the Droid Ultra, but is suppose to work on the Droid Maxx.
So I've done everything the forum says, by jcase (thanks for your work by the way), but I've run into a problem. It seems with the newest system update they've removed Developer Options from the phone. Either that or I can't find it! I've searched my settings high and low, but it's a ghost and doesn't exist. I need to access this to check USB Debugging option so that I can used ADB.
Can anyone else confirm it is no longer on their device either or help me find it?? Also, can anyone of you out there tell me if the RockMyMoto will NOT work for the Droid Maxx???
I want to complain while I'm here also, for Motorola removing that option (if it really is gone). That's some BS. I've had Motorola devices ever since the OG Droid and it feels like they're trying to prevent me from doing what I want with my phone!

Settings > About Phone > Tap Build Number a few times > It will say your a developer now > Go back and you will see developer options above About Phone > Check USB Debugging option in Developer Options
USB debugging is mainly for developers, allowing them to use the android sdk (software development kit) to communicate with the device. However, USB debugging can be extremely useful as it allows us to use adb commands which can pull and push files to the device even when it does not boot correctly.

It wasn't so bad, once we knew what to do. My question, why make it a "secret" passage? On another note, is anyone having trouble with adb commands with the Maxx? I have been rooting phones since original Droid, and for some reason, I can't get the push command to work with my Maxx.
I have finally been able to root my dl1008m digiland tablet, I've been searching on a way to do this for months now and finally have found the solution to it, You will be using kingroot for this method, You must download hidden menu from the app store and you have to enable Riz Debug UI to OEM Mode on and then usb debugging and then use the root tool, it's working root checker has verified that I do in fact have root, if you need me to post a video of it I can do that just give me a few hours I got my daughter right now, pm if you have any questions
Instructions
First download Hidden Menu from the playstore
Second Set usb dubbing to enable
Third go to Hidden Menu and find Riz Debug UI, a pop up will come up and say OEM Enable check that
Fourth Download Kingroot(I go to their website and download it don't use the one from the playstore) and run it, your done after that (It will say no root available but try it anyways button)
Now I think other methods other then kingroot will work so long as you do the OEM Enable under hidden menu, I did not try any other root methods other then Kingroot so if you use another method with my kingroot method your on your own if your brick your device, if you do achieve it using another root program please let us know, I would rather have SuperSU instead but scared it will brick right now
dl1008m Firmwear
Is there any possibility you have the firmwear for the digiland tab? I really need it.
which hidden menu app?

It's called hidden menu by Craig newell
Mmm .... this method is not working on my DL1008M. This what I've done:
- Downloaded hidden menus from play store
- Enabled USB debugging
- Checked OEM Enable on Riz Debug UI using hidden menus
- Installed Kingroot using Aptoide
- Executed Kingroot (no root available message so I checked "Try now")
The device is not rooted. What I'm missing? Thanks!!!
