I have a dumb question. - HTC U11 Questions & Answers

I flashed twrp. Then flashed Magisk and installed Magisk Manager. How do I tell I'm rooted? I have been able to grant a couple apps Superuser privileges.

You're rooted if you have granted privileges. Download a root checker app.

In addition you can always see if you're rooted in the root tab of the Magisk App.

Unable to remove root

I have successfully rooted my phone with SuperSU and it works fine. But I want to switch to MagiskSU so I can use snapchat. When I go to settings in SuperSU and click full unroot it says uninstallation failed. I know the other way to remove it is by flashing UPDATE-unSU.zip but when I do so it only removes the SuperSU app and not the root. I was wondering if there was any other way of unrooting SuperSU that allows me to install MagiskSU. I have a Oneplus 3T and have all the latest updates. Please help.
Magisk needs a kernel that haven't been patched by supersu. Reflash boot so that you have a "clean" kernel and try magisk again. Then, with magisk root you can remove the su.img in /data if it's still present.

How do I reflash the boot.img in recovery for my Oneplus 3t?

Rooting HTC U11

So can we now unlock boot loader and root it with chainfire binaries?
which version of superuser.zip do we have to flash with ?
please post questions in the Q&A next time.
Unlock Bootloader
Flash TWRP in fastboot
Flash latest SuperSU.zip you can find on the supersu homepage.
...or flash a prerooted custom rom
you can also root with magisk su btw. That way you can pass safety net etc if that is needed for you.
How do you pass safety net with bootloader unlocked. I want root for ad block but also want Android pay. Possible?

Magisk lets you use apps that do not work with root, such as mobile banking apps or Android Pay.

Root problem

Hi all,
I have lost the ability to root my EMUI 5.0 v360 rom using either Magisk or SuperSU with the TWRP designed for EMUI 5.0.
I had SuperSU installed and working but I wanted to try Magisk for the Magisk Hide feature.
I uninstalled SuperSU through the app settings. It succeeded.
Then I installed Magisk. It also succeeded.
That was fine, and I noticed that Magisk has its own internal BusyBox so I figured out would uninstall BusyBox that I had installed and use that.
But from that moment I lost root.
Then I tried uninstall of Magisk using its flash able uninstall. And then reinstall it.
Root was not activated by reinstalling even though Magisk was successfully installed.
The I uninstall Magisk completely to go back to SuperSU.
The flashable SuperSU installs fine. But the app does not recognise that the binaries are installed at all.
So right now I can patch the relevant files in twrp but the system no longer recognises root.
I don't know how this could happen from uninstalling BusyBox. But that's where I am stuck at...

Man with every little thing you do, you need to take a backup from TWRP. Now the only solution to your problem is to reflash your firmware.

Unroot FRD-L14

I have installed MagiskSU to root my phone.
How can I unroot it?
Open Magisk Manager app. Click on Uninstall then on Complete Uninstall, and you're unrooted.

Check above comment and can go for it or else just dload the current firmware and it will be full stock without any loss of data.
I can re-root it by installing Magisk again???

Root not installed properly, how do i fix this?

I tried rooting my SM-G955F Android 9 with Odin and the root checker said Sorry! Root access is not properly installed on this device, how do I fix this? Get it back to unrooted or rooted, doesn't matter as long as it works. Thanks.

can you give some deets about how you got to where you are with the root status? i assume you flashed twrp and then installed magisk via twrp itself, correct?
Device not rooted properly
Moto g5s plus (Sanders) stock(oreo) to pixel experience (android 10).
Using twrp r20 Flashed pixel rom > flashed magisk root zip file > installed super su root invalidator>
Shows device not rooted properly > then flashed su root zip > checked root but not worked.
In magisk manager it shows
.Magisk not installed
Msg that appears on root checker app
. Root unavailable
. No su binary available
. Superuser app found
Magisk manager
. Applet source found
Available via $PATH
/System/bin/toybox
Toybox 0.8.0-android
. SELinux is enforcing
Note: i don't have the backup of my efs and persist of my stock rom
