TIL the Parker Jotter works really well as a stylus. - Moto G4 Accessories

So apparently the Parker Jotter -- I have the all-stainless steel version -- works really well as a passive stylus with the Moto G4 of you turn it around and use the back end.
It doesn't do anything on my HTC U Ultra.
So is this a sensitivity issue or what is so magically different with the Moto G4?

[Q] Best stylus for writing?

Hello,
I was wondering what would be the best stylus to wrtite down notes with. I am looking for some decent performance,as I will be writing Chinese characters with it so accuracy matters. Never had a tablet so I really have no experience with this...

I'm actually looking for a stylus too but since we don't have the ability to support active pens using hardware I'm also stuck in a pinch like you since I want to take notes using it. I'm planning on kickstarting
DotPen. I removed the link since I don't know if I'm allowed to post it here but do a quick search on kickstarter website or google and it should pop up (by Dot-Tec).
hopefully it turns out well. I considered getting the adonit ones but their support emailed me back saying they built it with apple products in mind and cannot tell me how well it would be on an android tablet
Well, I came acroos a company called Dagi, they seem to make products very similar to Adonit, only they work with android as well.... see here
and here
It seems like the Dagi is on par with its counterpart and even slightly better.
It makes way less noise when writing, which is important. The Adonit makes so much noise its ridiculous... it sounds like someone is doing the dishes. the Adonit Jot script also has this metal tip which makes too much noise when wrting,
Dagi is a bit cheaper as well.
Anyway, I would really rather have a soft tip stylus purely due to the noise factor and "feel". I don't want to feel like I am about to harm the screen.... maybe when a glass screen protector comes out.
I am also looking for a stylus for writing and drawing and I have taken a look at the Dagi and Adonit. While they both seem to work very well my fear for buying either is the multiple reviews from many different sites about them scratching the screen... I thought about getting a Zagg screen protector but then there are reviews stating that they do not work well with those and I don't want to risk reducing the screen quality using one.
Are these reviews unfounded or does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thank you,
Grev
I'm having good results with an inexpensive Targus metal-barreled capacitive stylus. It has the big rubber tip but I've adjusted to it. I would like to try one of the 3mm capacitive stylus.
I use an ikross which can be found on either ebay or Amazon for about $8.00 and come packs of two. Also check the Samsung c-pen which also works really well. The great thing about these tablets, is that they use the same screens as the galaxy s5, s4, s3 rather than led screens which are very temperamental on which capacitive stylus work.

Are you using that stylus on the "S"? I only ask as my next question is to find out if it is scratching the screen?
Well, this sucks. One of my favorite features of the s5 is being able to write on the screen with a normal pencil, pen, whatever I have handy. Despite having the same "increase touch sensitivity" option in the tab s display settings it really doesn't work at all. Not sure what the technological difference is...

No Wacom = crap, no matter what stylus you use.
Samsung C Pen
I've been looking for an option with a fine tip myself and noticed that Samsung offered a C Pen for the Galaxy S3. Well, I decided to get it and try it on my Tab S 8.4. I can say that it works well on the screen straight up, meaning no screen protector. I added an Illumishield Blue Light screen protector on it and it works but not quite as well as without. There seems to bee a little bit of "sticking" instead of gliding smoothly across the screen. This is of course the screen protectors issue and not the pen. I will swap it out once there is a tempered glass version available.
I can use it as a pointer and tap to launch and do things. In S Note, it works very well. I'd even say it works better in S Note than it does in Evernote at this point.
I think this is going to work out well. After all, it does have just a 3mm tip so you can see what you're actually doing and it's not nearly as expensive as most styli that are available.

Wacom bamboo stylus solo 2
But still hope for new galaxy note 8.4 with an amoled screen.
I am using a simple capacitive stylus from Hama for EUR 4,99. Seems to be similar to the Bamboo solo. Works perfektly for taping. I had to set touch sensitivity to high in settings to use it reliably at quick swyping. Works like a charm then. Much better for my needs than inductive pens (have several other Tablets with those).
Disk stylus are fine for precise constructing and diagramming. For scribbling and most other regular work a simpler soft end stylus such as bamboo is better, imho.
there are many active stylus out there.

I just ordered the Dart stylus which has a 2 mm fine tip and works with all the latest Windows, Android and Apple devices. It has ultra-precise tips to produce a fine line for drawing or sketching.
I need to take a lot of notes during the day as a physician and reading the online reviews of this stylus sold me hands down.
You can find it by googline the DART STYLUS FROM PRECISION TOUCH

Samsung Galaxy S3 Galaxy C-Pen Stylus Pen works perfectly
The Samsung Galaxy S3 Galaxy C-Pen Stylus Pen works perfectly with the 8.4" Tab S. Though the product specs say it works only on S3, I tried it with the Tab S and it just glided.
The pen looks premium with a metal body and a hard tip. The hard tip gives it a nice feel while writing as compared to the usual hollow rubber tips.
http://www.ebay.com/gds/Samsung-ETC-...5756258/g.html
I found it lying in the corner in a mobile accessory shop and the shopkeeper was happy to get rid of the old stock for $15. Look around and you may find one.
It seems 'active stylus' is the future for all non-wacom devices.
Search for 'active stylus for ipad'. Add 'for ipad' for filtering out many wacom like products.

No, I don't. If you want cheap, you can go out and buy a standard stylus with a huge nib that won't let you draw (or write) with any real precision. There are plenty of those available on the market.
If you want quality, you have to pay for it. That's what you did buying this tablet, right?

Like another poster previously suggested, a cheaper (but still good) alternative would be Samsung's C-Pen. You can get one for about $25-$30 on eBay.
Anyone else have experience with this pen on the Tab S?

This will be another option to consider and a nice one. Thanks for posting it.:highfive:

How to make a fine point stylus.

I've been experimenting with a lot of conductive materials for a while, but what I found works best for a fine tip stylus is a 2.5 mm headphone male connector. Or 3.5 mm will work also. The best part is that the connector is already conductive enough. You don't have to attach it to anything conductive, or wrap wire around it. Here's a picture of the one I made for myself. I used a 2.5 mm jack and made the body from an old radio antenna that I cut up. It's extremely light. I'm using it on my s5 so I don't know how great it will work on other screens.
That is so cool!
I have been a Galaxy Note user for quite sometime but have been stuck on an old model because they did away with removable batteries... I use the S Pen work work all day pretty much every day and I work in a low signal area so I change out batteries at least once if not twice or three times a day. Yeah, I'm a heavy user.
Anyway, I have been looking for a fine point stylus to replace my S Pen so that I can get LG's new G5 (removable battery) and just use Google Keep with Google Handwriting to keep my notes... So far my search hasn't turned out well.
This stylus you have made looks like something that may be just the thing.
I will definitely be testing this.

(Q) Bamboo Stylus Feel For Galaxy Note Series

Good evening guys.
Today I received my Bamboo Stylus Feel specially for the Note Series in the mail today. 48 bucks including taxes, shipping. However I read the instructions carefully but I encountered an issue. The pen does not have that instant response compared to the S Pen. With the Bamboo stylus, I have to press much harder on the screen in order to get it to do something.
Am I doing something wrong? Am I missing something? If this really the way the Bamboo stylus behaves? I would love the community's help on this regard because I am ready to return this pen. It has disapointed me.
Thanks.

I have one that I bought for the 10.1, and it works flawlessly for me. Never had a problem on my Note 2 either. Haven't tried it with my Note 4, though I would assume it works the same, unless it isn't updated to take advantage of the newer screen?

I could be wrong but you might need to recalibrate the stylus for the Note 4. Google can help or someone might be able to add details or correct me

Thank you guys for your responses. I will do some research in case i have to recalibrate the stylus. But like I said, it's very weird.. Because i have to press really hard on the screen to get it to do the desired action. If someone else has anything to add please contribute to this thread, otherwise I will report back here if I find any info on the Internet.

The product page for the Bamboo Stylus Feel for Note Series has the Note 4 as a tested and compatible device.
Have you contacted Wacom? (Or Bamboo or whoever... I forget who the company is right now)

I have this pen and use it with no issues.
I don't have that pen specifically, but I do have a couple of frequency-compatible Tablet PC pens.
There are three things I've noted when using them on the Note 4:
-The calibration is off, way off, and I can't just recalibrate it like I can a tablet PC or even the tablet-size Galaxy Note products.
-Tilt sensitivity works on the tablet PC pens. Good luck taking advantage of that with the amount of cursor shift you'll have, though.
-The first 20-25% of the pressure sensitivity curve, as measured in Clover Paint settings, is effectively wasted on the stock S-Pen. The pressure value just skips from zero right into that range, then ramps up like you'd expect. None of my Tablet PC pens do this; they start from 0% at initial activation force like you'd think they would.
That last point is probably why you have to bear down so hard with the Bamboo Stylus to get it to work like it's supposed to. Too bad Samsung doesn't just give us a proper settings panel like Wacom does on a proper computer.
I am getting my own pen in the mail soon as well
I hope that things will work well
I wonder if changing ROM's would help with the Bamboo pen performance.

Active Stylus

Since the Pixel C does not come with a stylus, I am considering to buy a third party stylus for taking notes on my Pixel C.
Do you think a Wacom Bamboo-Stylus Fineline (bluetoooth) would work with it?
I must admit, I have a very limited understanding of how these different kind of styluses work...
I have used this one on the Nexus 9 and it worked like a charm
http://www.adonit.net/
Which adonit stylus have you used exactly?
I am still a bit confused: Since the Pixel C does not have a Wacom digitizer, active stylii should not work, should they?
In the end, what I am looking for is a stylus to take notes. I do not really care how it works, but it needs to have a fine tip.
the jot dash looks like the one with the fine tip that works on android. But i am also at a loss for what you get over a regular stylus... what does the "active" do for you?

G7 my first experience

It seems to be my next phone to replace old V20
Pretty good feel on hand but it's very slippery
I cannot try phone call because the floor model does not have SIM
Screen is good and the size is like 5.5" in 9:16. You can adjust three different color levels.
You cannot change tint, but white looks natural to me (X4 is yellow and G6 is too red)
The phone is tempered glass friendly. There's a small space between viewing area and the round off. You should have no problem to install tempered glass (but it can barely covers viewing area left and right sides)
Even it has 2:1 screen, the length is shorter than V20 and it's much shorter than XA2 Ultra
Speaker is rather loud even it faces downward. It's louder than V20 but it's a bit softer than XA2 Ultra.
You can check it out at selected Best Buy store ($299) but it's not on sale until next week.
T-Mobile users only: this phone does not have B71 but it has B12 and B66 according to FCC, and hopefully it has VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling like X4 and G6.
I think you won't go wrong with G7
I grabbed one yesterday at my local Bestbuy for $299,so far so good I'm using it on Cricket. I have Volte working but not Wifi calling that's a feature just for Cricket branded phone's.....the battery life is normal nothing special, sound is really loud, the screen beautiful.I can't get Netflix HD i don't know why because this phone support L1 security. The camera is great with the Gcam mod apk,the signal is good but i find a couple spots that i don't have any service when my iPhone XR has service ... performance is normal....so far is a good phone
moto hit a home run with the g7 for sure.

How is the smoothness of the OS? Is the scrolling on the Google feed and chrome browser smooth? My Moto x4 gets very choppy when scrolling, even in my app drawer, so I'm Kind of scared to try the Moto g7. Thanks

yes. the lack of 71 doesnt seem to matter.
Just to help with feedback on the Moto G7:
I just purchased a Moto GO at Best Buy today.
(If you have a Best Buy reward card you get 5% in rewards)
So far I like it. Took my T-Mobile simcard without a hickup. Phone calls are clear. I read of some reviews about dropping wifi but it has been steady for me.
It's been a very long time since I have used an unrooted phone so I'm a little nervous but won't root yet. Looking for a dependable method and a Gapps free rom like lineageos. Hate the idea of Google reading everything I write.
I need to read up on Android pie but it doesn't seem that different.
Any suggestions for a good non root firewall or permissions control? I feel naked! The keyboard is great but I need an open source one quick! ?
I had the Moto G6 and the G7 has been awesome in the few days that I've had it. 0 issues so far and I'm really enjoying the larger screen. I'm on Google Fi and they have them for $249
