Yes it must be.I have Huawei Mate 10 and work perfectly with Samsung Gear S3.
You need to download from App Store "Samsung Gear App" and that is all.

Hi .. I just got samsung gear 2 that was suppose to be neo but turned out to gear 2 "lite" wich looks exactly the same exept it is recognized on my note 3 as gear 2 lite and it dont have s voice installed and when i googled gear 2 lite the results came out in french so I guess this version was mainly targeted for france .. the important defference is that gear 2 neo's code is sm-r381 while lite's code is sm-r3810. .so do anyone know about this "lite" version .. and would it damage my smartwatch if I flashed neo's firmware into it?

I have a problem ưhen I connect my HTC M8 with an gear s2..
Ít stuck on Connecting to Gear Screen.
My phone can pair easy with S2 but it stuck in Gear manager app.
Can anybody help me?

You have to install 3 apk from google play:
1. samsung gear
2. samsung gear plugin
3. samsung accessories service
It works with my Xiaomi Mi4.

The minimum Android version is 4.4. I have paired and used Gear s2 watch with Moto X 2013 and it worked. You just need to download Gear Manager from Play Store, run it and it will pair the watch to your phone.

I have the same problem with my Gear Sport and my Huawei P20 pro ;-( !! but no issue with my pixle 2, it works well and both are on 8.1 Oreo
Me too on my p20pro and gear s3frontier. I was able to use appsharer from my mate 10pro to mo r over Samsung pay framework and Samsung pay gear plug in (clear data and cache after install) and they work fine so I have samasuhg pay (and number sync) working fine - just missing some of my favorite watch faces - hopefully and update comes soon

Just search for the apps and install them manually. I did and as an example Samsung pay works perfectly

I tried but no luck...
Weird. After installing Samsung's apps and plugs booth gear and pay works perfect. Booth on P20 and P20 Pro.

Not sure if its compatible (it should be, as it a fairly new phone). But if not, there is still a workaround. My old Mate7 was not compatible (ie i couldnt download the necessary Samsung plugins from the Playstore to get the Gear S3 to pair with the Mate7). To work around this, i simply downloaded the Samsung Gear S plugin / Samsung Accessory Service plugin / Samsung Wearable app via apkmirror, installed them, and then was able to pair the phone with the Gear S3, and everything work as expected.
I had a Huawei Mate 9, and the S3 frontier works perfect.
(I've since switched to the Essential PH-1)
When I first connected it to the Mate9, I couldn't get the s-voice to work, but finally figured out that probem
was because the app I use for a VPN (adguard) was blocking access. Once I white listed the samsung app,
s-voice worked perfectly.
