Android Auto - Nokia 7 Plus Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi,
Did somebody try to use an android auto function? My car (Peugeot 308SW 2018) and the phone not connecting with latest (8.1.0) android version. I tried to enable an USB debugging (as workaround recommendation), but nothing changed...
Have you other idea or working solution?
thx!

Yes, it works perfectly in my mid 2017 Kia Cee'd SW. Check if you have android auto enabled(i have the option to disable it and the apple car play). Also, the usb cable is working properly when connecting to a pc?

At the car side is enabled, at phone side i didnt found any additional options...
The best result was the android auto icon at phone appears and disappears continously with 2-3 different cables.
Is it possible the car head unit firmware not compatible with N7P latest SW version?

Doubt it. The car is from this year, it seems unlikely(to me) that the firmware wasn't up to date.
Stupid question, you have the android auto app installed on the phone right? Android has a Car Mode but to use android auto you need to install the app 1st(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.projection.gearhead&hl=en). If the link says that you have no compatible device, download the latest version from here(https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/android-auto/)
For almost a year I thought my head-unit wasn't up to date as the android auto would freeze, the app would say that the head-unit wasn't up to date, waze would display random artefacts, etc.
Now with the N7p it is butter smooth, no funky stuff and way more responsive that when I was trying to use it with my Redmi 4 Prime(same cable but with a micro-b to usb c adapter)...

No issues with AA in Seat Ateca 2018.
Everything works like a charm.
For phonecalls, you need to select default sim first, otherwise the call hangs on a sim selection prompt on the phone.

I write to nokia support and they send:
- clear the bluetooth cache
- do a soft reset
after this steps working fine...

what is Bluetooth cache?

You found here, how to clear: http://support.hereplus.me/hc/en-us/articles/115003497328-Clearing-your-Bluetooth-Cache-Android-/

Do you install android auto app on your smartphone ? some lands doesn't have android auto on the play store, so you need to download manually on apk mirror web site (arm64 version)
A good quality cable is also needed.

I'm having similar issues.
This phone won't work in both my VW cars.
If I clear all settings it works fine.
I get to my destination, unplug and then when I head out on my next trip it doesn't. Just a blank screen on the head unit and the phone has the green screen saying launch Android Auto on the head unit.
Tried the BT cache clearing as above. Will try a factory reset of the phone shortly too otherwise wait for pie and if still no go then sell the phone which I will miss
Though can't work without Android Auto now

It is definitely problem with Nokia 7 plus. In my car it connect and after few minutes black screen and solution is only disconnect and connect again.

I've found the bluetooth with my N7P poor anyway. This is my second one and the same as the first.
All HMD will do is send you a list of the bluetooth protocols they support.
So you may need to change your car ?

My 7+ works perfectly now.
Enable USB debugging and disable the extreme power saving settings.

Android Auto on Mate 9

Hi,
I am not sure if this problem is related to
- Mobile Phone
- Android Auto
- Car
So my question is: Does someone already has a working Android Auto connection with a car´s radio with this phone?
If so, I will continue this in Android Auto section.
Today I upgraded build to: MHA-L29C432B138
Car/Radio: Opel Astra K (MY2017)/ Intellilink R4.0
The connection could be established. But screen of car stays black. When touching screen or saying "OK Google" it accepts voice command.
My Mate 7 works perfectly...
Best regards,
Robert
no idea... working oke on my golf 7 2015 mib2 unit..
u using original cable... i also try ith lumia 950 cable, also usb-c but random disconnecting with this cable.
P9 is also working. I guess the problem is Mate 9.
Mine works with Pioneer but doesn't work well. It Will not play anything already downloaded to the device unless you connect phone to head unit forest and actually play something through Bluetooth first and THEN connect it. All permissions are set correctly etc. And what is with having to give it permission to use the data on the phone EVERY SINGLE TIME?
US model working flawlessly with 2016 VW Golf R... I did have to reinstall audible and spotify after connecting the first time in order for them to show up in the menu, but other than that, no issues with connecting, audio skips, etc. Very happy! Samsung S7 Edge was unusable with AA.
Got the International Mate 9 Pro and AA is working perfectly fine with my Pioneer 4100nex. I'm on the latest Pioneer firmware 1.09 if that helps anyone.
Works like a charm
What settings do you guys have? Do you have usb debugging or anything like that enabled in dev settings? Every time I hook up it comes up with the dialogue box to enable data access. Whether I click enable or not it will not play anything stored on phone. I've had this confirmed by Huawei Australia. They couldn't get it going either.
I have all the correct permissions set for all apps including android auto.
Any hints?

In developer options I do have "Always prompt when connecting to USB" turned off and "Select USB Configuration" set to MTP. I don't get prompted for anything on the phone. USB Debugging is off. I don't try to play anything from USB though, just use AA, Spotify, and Audible.
Other than that, I do have an Automagic script that when car ui mode is entered, the screen gets turned on, Waze is launched, slide to unlock keyguard is dismissed, and wifi is turned off. I won't need to do most of this when Waze is AA compatible, but until then, I can't live without it. This script works about 90% of the time, still haven't finished tweaking it for 100% success. Worst case, I have to turn the phone back on, swipe down on the notification panel, then select waze from "Notification Shortcuts".

Seems this is possibly the issue. Whenever I connect usb it automatically changes the usb connection type to charge only. Won't let me change it to mtp, audio or anything else. Wonder if there is a hidden setting somewhere in emui that does this... Tried it in dev settings. Same issue. Charge only

I couldn't find anything else that I changed that seems relevant. I'm just using a standard USB to USB-C cable (Anker PowerLine+) plugged into the USB port in my VW Golf.
Did you change both of those settings I mentioned? If so, when you go back into dev settings does "Select USB Configuration" still say MTP, or did it default back to Charge Only? Maybe you have to reboot after? dunno...

I changed those 2 you said but as soon as I plug in the Huawei cable (thought maybe it needed the Huawei cable) it changes itself to charging...

I'm having the same issue in the US version on a 2017 VW GLI. My last two phones worked flawlessly.

You have reviewed android permissions, or if Google app or maps are set to close when the screen is turned off And enable activation?
In my old zenfone 3 that was the problem

JA! This was first thing, but no success.
I am also disappointed by Huawei customer care. They just point at Google and say it is not their fault.
Does anyone know how to log / where to find the log when "Force logging" is enabled in dev options in AA?

Open android auto, go to about, tap the Android auto title 10 times, you will see a toast saying your developer. Now from the 3 dotted menu on the right select developer options locate force logging and make sure it's enabled

Oneplus 6 not connecting to Android Auto. Oneplus 5 works fine.

I've just had my 2016 Mazda MX5 Miata's original equipment MZD Connect head unit upgraded to run Android Auto via a USB cable.
They tested it in the workshop with a couple of different phones and it all worked fine, but, alas - not with my Oneplus 6.
I'm running Android 10 and OxygenOS 10.3.0 and I can feel the phone vibrate in my hand as it repeatedly connects and immediately disconnects again. My wife's OnePlus 5 with Android 9 and OxygenOS 9.0.9 has no problems.
I've tried different cables, but it seems clear that it's a phone issue as all the other phones seem to connect with no problems.
Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Make sure it is not in charging mode from the menu when you plug it in. Also check the USB debugging. I connected easily to a 2019 Subaru.BTW, assuming Android auto app is on phone.

I've just set the default USB configuration to File Transfer. USB debugging is Off and Android Auto is built into Android 10, I believe (so you can't install the app anymore), but I have installed Android Auto for phone screens anyway - which is what you do if you still want to see the app on your phone. Does all that seem correct?

I'm actually doing a very tentative victory dance ATM. I think I've solved the problem.
I opened the Android Auto for phone screens app, went to settings and found there were no 'Accepted Cars' and the 'Add new cars to Android Auto' was switched off. I switched that on, it then connected and added the MX-5 as an Accepted Car. And seemingly all is working fine. I'll do more tests tomorrow.
The bit that is odd, though, is that the Android Auto app is no longer required with Android 10 - it's built in and does everything automatically. If I hadn't installed that extra 'Android Auto for phone screens' I wouldn't even have access to those settings.
Also - the solution may have had to do with the steps Right2Bear suggested. Something seems to have worked. But if it all goes wrong tomorrow, I'll certainly try your suggestion, bilool. Thanks!!

Dasaita PX6 - zLink Apple CarPlay not working, Wired or Wireless.

Hello everyone,
First of all it is so cool to stumble across this section of XDA with all of the community helping each other with Android Head units. It was so cool to see recommendations, suggestions, help, software updates, Custom ROMs, etc. so Thanks for all the cool post to read.
Now getting into my problem...
I purchased a Dasaita 10.2" Android 10.0 with the main intentions of using the CarPlay feature (Note: I am willing to use Wired CarPlay). Additionally would love the added features the unit provides for its price point.
However after receiving the unit and installing it, I can not get Apple CarPlay to work with a constant connection every time the vehicle is turned on. It takes a whole lot of tinkering to get it to connect; such as connecting bluetooth, headunit hotspot, headunit wifi, connecting with wire. Then once it is eventually connected CarPlay will work fine for the duration of the usage and any warm boots (turning the car off for a few seconds and turning it back on). It is so frustrating to get it connected because it is not straight forward or simple in any means. What is worse is that after the car is off for a good amount of time and I turn it back on, all is lost. zLink keeps trying to connect and bluetooth is definitely connected but it just won't connect. I have to tinker with it again, such as forgetting the device and forgetting CarPlay, trying to connect to bluetooth again and try to connect via wire, etc. Then eventually it might connect. There is just no specific instruction path to get it connected, just requires a bunch of different ways of tinkering to eventually it might connecting.
It has just been a pain to try and get CarPlay working, that was the biggest selling point for me to get this unit. If I can't get it working soon, it will be taken off the vehicle and returned.
Posting this here for help or possible leads to where to find help.

P.S. 2: Android Auto works flawlessly, connect the USB and that is it Android Auto is working.
Got it working!!!! ?
The issue was that my phone was on iOS 14 Beta. I downgraded to a stable iOS version and it is working fine every time I turn the car back on and any warm boots. It just works now no problems.
The other devices I tested on where also on a stable iOS version not sure why they did not work?? Maybe I just did not test it enough, good thing I slept on it and recollected the next day.
Can you use Car Play wireless?

Yes, CarPlay wireless works.

Not sure if anybody here can help but I recently purchased a Dasaita PX30 it is running Android 10 but there is no ZLink installed. I am pretty sure this unit has wireless CarPlay compatibility: when I go to car factory settings under CarPlay it is selected to ZLink but again the ZLink app is nowhere to be found. I tried downloading the ZLink apk v3.5.56 and installing using external USB but it just comes up to ‘not installed’. Please help! Thanks

Hi all,
I just installed the PX6 and everything works except Carplay. I have done everything that Dasiata on Amazon has instructed me to do. I can't get wired or wireless to connect. The main reason why I purchase this unit was for Carplay as well. I am on IOS 14.1. Any ideas?

*UPDATE*
Dasaita told me to update to MCU 3.65 and sent me the link. Now Carplay will work wirelessly, but will still not work wired. I realized that the way they have wireless Carplay setup to work sucks. I have to connect to the HU hotspot and Bluetooth to connect. Well, that keeps my phone from using cell data. Totally defeats the purpose. Does everyone have to connect that way?

So here we go. I have the solution that will allow you to connect to the Dasaita Hotspot and allow your phone to use mobile data. Finally, it works as it supposed to. This solution is for the PX6 with Android 10, MCU 3.65, and zlink.
1. Connect your iPhone to the Bluetooth
2. Connect your iPhone to the Wi-Fi Hotspot on the head unit.
3. Go to settings on the iPhone, then Carplay sections, and be sure that it connects to the head unit. Mine was called CAR-LINK, once connecting it changes to something like zjinnova-D310C
4. Go to SETTINGS and select Wi-Fi then select the blue INFO icon to the right of the name of your head unit hotspot connection.
5. Make note of both the IP address and the Subnet Mask address
6. Select the STATIC option and enter only the IP and Subnet Mask addresses from Step 5 -- (Leave everything else blank)
Boom, everything works as it should. I will inform Dasiata. This should be the first thing they tell you to try.

I’ve got the same version of firmware and software and running iOS 14.2. I am stuck on the step where you go to CarPlay -> General and connect to the head unit and the circle never stops spinning.
Does anyone know whether there is a fix in the works to make wired Apple CarPlay just work or if there is a more stable version I can try and roll my unit back to? This is quite annoying.

Mine is flames as well. Sometimes it connects fine. Sometimes not at all, but phone says it is connected to the car via BT.
I did get it to connect today but I need to test more. While it was stuck on Zlink saying connecting, I placed a call (to my voicemail) and zlink connected. Could be unrelated. More testing needed.
Would love to update this to android 10 or a newer official version of zlink.
Anyone else have luck getting wireless Carplay to work consistently? Initially, it did for me on my Idoing PX6 head unit (similar software and hardware to the Dasaita), but I feel like I did something to cause it to stop working. Now, when I power on my radio, my phone connects quickly to the bluetooth and to the AP (wifi hotspot), but ZLink never opens automatically like it should. When I open ZLink manually, it just sits at "connecting". If I disconnect bluetooth on my iPhone and reconnect it twice, then ZLink will sometimes decide to work and do its thing.
I will try the static IP idea. I noticed it was on "low data" mode for the AP, so I disabled that.
I updated firmware to MCU 3.69 and the system update is from 12/15/2020 I think. That didn't help.
I also have a Carlinkit USB adapter, not plugged in, that uses an app called Autokit. I was trying to use that a few days ago and it would eventually work, but takes like 45 seconds to finally connect.
I have tried forgetting my home wifi on my iPhone so it doesn't have to disconnect from it, but that didn't help. The connections all seem to work perfectly and it's just ZLink failing, but it's hard to say.
Hey man How’d You get apple CarPlay to work ? Mine hasn’t worked for 3 months

Wireless Carplay? The static IP stuff didn't help. The only thing that seems to work is toggling bluetooth connection on my iPhone with the radio after manually opening Zlink on the radio. It still doesn't always work then.
No matter what, the phone connects to both the BT and Hotspot of the radio every time, it just doesn't continue on to Carplay and Zlink doesn't auto-launch or connect after manually launching.
I've used my car a few times after leaving my Oneplus 6T in it, like a permanent connected phone, and it works. Sometimes I have to launch Zlink manually, but other times it has worked for Android Auto without me having to do anything. So far, this is the most convenient solution. I also paid for T-Mobile One Plus to get 20GB of full speed hotspot each month so I can mess around with native Android apps and stuff. Still not sure what I'm going to settle on doing long-term. I just got iOS 14.3 installed on the iPhone so I might go try again.

MI TV stick self turn on after latest update

Hi.
I've checked 3 pcs of Mi TV stick - each time after updating to latest update the stick is turning on by itself in 20 seconds after turning off by remote.
The new piece from box before update is ok, after installing latest update same issue. Does Xiaomi knows some solution to this bug?

I have the same problem bro. Still not found the solution.
I got the solution - at least that worked for me. The problem was with charging adapter from xiaomi phone. When stick was charged from PC USB slot then no problem with turning on by itself. It seems those sticks need power from low voltage sources like PC USB or TV USB (that I didnt check). Try it.
In my case there is no difference. TV Stick turning on by itself no matter if it was in TV USB, PC USB or plugged in charged which came in package.
It was my 2nd TV Stick because 1st was sended back because of classic problem with remote - losing connection and you need to unplug the device.
Unfortunately I have same issue with latest PI.1727. It's not able to stay in standby. On my side I'm sure it's a reason of updated hdmi-cec code. Once upon a time I was able to shutdown both tv and stick with a single button click. It's a dream now. I wish we were able to downgrade firmware.
Same issue on brand new Mi TV Stick updated to PI.1727. It wakes up with no reason.
Same issue here. I can shutdown MiStick + Tv, but I can't turn on both devices from remote using HDMI-CEC.
And both devices turn on automatically every day at same hour.

Question Android auto connectivity

Hi guys, tried to use android auto today for the first time and having absolutely no luck. Either with wireless or a cable. Car says device not recognized. I've rebooted both, deleted all devices off the cars system etc and still nothing. The phone connectsvia Bluetooth and takes calls and plays music no issue but android auto won't connect. When I plug the phone in via USB it says device not supported?
I've Googled and it seems this is a common issue. Does anyone know of a fix or having similar issues? I'm rooted so wondering is that the issue or could there be a workaround as I'm rooted instead perhaps. All suggestions welcome, thanks!
