App Specific Notification Sounds Issue - Oreo or EMUI? - Honor View 10 Questions & Answers

I'd settled on the View 10 after previously returning the G6 and OP5T last year. Here in the UK, it seemed a good compromise on features and price. Having had it a couple of days I'm trying to get a handle on its quirks and oddities.
Prior to Oreo, I'd been used to app notifications functioning as you'd expect. On the View 10 things are a bit different. Well, fair enough. However, I'm finding that some apps, an example being Sky News, just make the phone wide default notification sound rather than their own dedicated one. The Sky 'breaking news' one is very distinctive.
Now I've had a look in the settings, both of EMUI and the app, and there's no way to choose or set it correctly. The Inability to choose custom tones/alerts appears, across a swath of apps, to be something of a bugbear for all Oreo users. But here I'm wondering if EMUI is equally to blame as their implementation seems less than perfect. That said Sky could do with updating their app to make it more Oreo friendly.
So have other owners had any specific notification issues?
What's the solution? Well I'm going to try NotifiCon and see how effective that is. Although if I want the same notifications as before I'll have to root to locate the audio file(s).
My tolerance for bugs / quirks is reasonable just as long as they don't constantly impact my usage. That said I've already had my fingerprints go missing in a day and some notifications not appearing on the lockscreen. Further nagging problems won't be welcome.

I'm having the same problem with Viber.
I sent them an email, they investigated and told me this is EMUI 8.0 issue.
Honor/Huawei tends to do some weird things with their OS unfortunately.

NotifiCon
Im using NotifiCon on my Honar 10 but cant get it to send sound notifications when screen is locked

FYI, this is an issue that I too found very annoying. IIRC the issue was that in Oreo the sound settings had been moved out of the individual apps themselves and into the notification settings. However, it appeared that Honor/Huawei had not implemented this correctly within their take on Android 8/EMUI8. I updated my View 10 to Android 9/EMUI9 yesterday and I can confirm that the notification management has now been properly implemented which not only means that it is now possible to set different custom notification sounds for different apps, but also where an app supports it you can set multiple sounds for different notification types within a single app.
If you want to update to Pie there is a threads that details how to force the update... https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-view-10/development/tool-huaweiupdater-update-to-emui-9-t3884904

I've had it with Lollipop

Lollipop seems to be the worst update I've had in years. I was in the UK and suing the Vodafone network (a mistake in itself), and it kept hassling me to update. In the end I did, and the patch that followed. I am not at all happy. I am on 5.0, and not 5.1, but I have read that 5.1 does not fix much.
My main grips are:
No actual benefits?
Alerts are silly, especially with the lock screen. They have mad a mess of this.
Removal of the privacy mode, which is vital to me as I use the phone as an alarm (even in 5.1 you can't allow the alarm and stop calls etc AFAIK)
Email alerts all show blank and are not removed when viewing the mail unless you click on the (useless) notification itself.
Connections with my Gear 2 are lost, and it does not connect again. The Gear thinks it is, so refuses connections
Task list is awful. I struggle to pick out which app is which. The old was was far simpler.
No longer a media controller on the lock screen unless you have notifications set on.
Automatic brightness stuff up, and makes the screen flicker.
? Can't think of more now (but there are), these are the most annoying to me.
This weekend I'll be doing a factory reset and re-installing the available Kit-Kat here in Oz. I'll refuse Lollipop until all these issues are fixed, which probably means never.
• Yes. The actual benefit is that since the launch of Android it is the first iteration which changed the way Android works, by moving to ART from Dalvik. Now I don't know how much better is ART than Dalvik, so don't ask.
• Yes. I hate that too. You mean the persistent notifications on lock screen right? Well you gotta deal with that it seems. I have tried to find an app or an Xposed module, but I haven't found any. If you do find something then please let me know. And I am sure you know how to disable that bloody irritating Headsup notifications.
• I have never used Privacy mode of Samsung, but my phone is almost always on Silent. But I have noticed that the Do Not Disturb mode is reintroduced in last update, OF3. In any case we should be thankful to Samsung that they have brought back the actual Silent mode of KitKat. Shame Google.
• I use AquaMail, and I don't notice any problem at all.
• No idea, no wear units.
• Disagree with you. I really like the new task switcher. Yes, you need to be a bit picky, but not to any extent of causing any annoyance. Personal preference though.
• No idea! God work life is killing me, haven't listened to music in months!
• Yes, this is a really irritating issue, however for me the auto brightness doesn't increase, but decrease actually. And no the screen doesn't flicker, at least haven't noticed that so far on OF3.
• .............
If you were happy with KK, then simply switch back. At initial stage I was anger with Lollipop too, but mainly because of disappearance of Silent mode and then those damn notifications on lock screen, but as the former is solved now, and I simple love Light backgrounds than darkish ones, I can't think about moving back to KK. And now when Xposed is all but working I can't even think it
Best of luck.
you should have posted this on samsungs forum, not on a hacking forum that has no affiliation with samsung

Anyone having buyers remorse?

Well, one week till CES where Huawei will announce the US version. Getting excited! But I was wondering. Anyone have buyers remorse at this point? Do you like the Mate 8 more or less as time goes on?
No buyer's remorse here.. I'm quite sure if a N/A version is released there will an accompanying rom as well..

Thanks. I'm trying to decide whether to get the Mate 8 (Great specs and build), Blu Pure XL (very good specs, cheap, its been rooted and has TWRP - also some promise for developer support) or stay pat with my Note Edge (I do like the edge features and it's screen is basically as wide as the Mate 8, just not as tall. also Marshmallow arrives in the next few months hopefully). Decisions decisions....

Yeah, it all comes down to how much do you want to spend.. I bought the 128GB version, I had the Mate 7 so I knew what to expect..
If I could only get notifications working properly then I would be 100% happy.

Been there done that, been through every option and nothing helps. Reading around, this seems to be a common bug with emui, and the only way around this is to disable phone manager or make the apps system apps. Which can't be done without root. So, right now I am playing a waiting game.

altaz,
Similar problems have been noted in some of the other threads. Is it possible that the problem you are experiencing isn't due to actual notification issues, but that the apps you are expecting notifications from are not currently being permitted to run in the background when the phone's screen is turned off?
I'm not sure which apps you are having trouble with, but for example, with Whatsapp(?). If this sounds like it might be the issue for you (and you haven't already looked into this), try going into Settings-->Advanced settings-->Battery manager-->Protected apps and allow those apps that should be receiving notifications.
As to the original question of the thread, no remorse. So far so good. A pretty sleek, powerful phone. Just need to get it rooted.
Might be the interactions between marshmelow & emui, if that is the case a fix should only be imenent.
Nevertheless, try this ---> battery manager itself; click on the setting icon up left of the screen, you need to switch on (Keep mobile data on when sleeping).
Of course that is in congunction with the rest of the settings/permissions.
Good luck,
No buyers remorse here. Having recently had a P8Max I knew what to expect with regards to setting up notifications and permissions so they work, and for me currently no particular problems. The camera is not as good as the best of 2015, or even 2014, but I had realistic expectations there and the camera is performing well enough for me in light of the other benefits.

Seems this notification problem is becoming more annoying, i have turned on everything possible (permissions, auto start, notifications, ignore optimizations). I even found another layer of settings in the apps settings that allow a deeper level of changes (settings > Apps > Advanced) . And still i can't get emails to notify when the phone is in standby. This is even after i have left the email application on, and turned the turned the phone off via the power button. i've spent a number of hours sending myself emails in various conditions and while might get the notifications sometimes, others i may not so this doesn't help narrow down the cause.
I have now realized that it's not just emails that are affected, i don't get auto notifications in Google Photos or Rewards, and some apps which run on schedule. The google apps only update when i open the app. which is useless for apps like Rewards, since the surveys expire after 24 hours, so go knows how many i have missed since i moved this this phone. I've never had this type of problem with any other android phone, and i;ve had a fair number of them over the years. At this point, since i am not able to return the phone i am thinking that i might have to do a factory reset, and hope for the best.

altaz, no need mine works now. just follow my previous post in this thread.
Just got mine today. No remorse here, and hey there might be a rom to flash once the US variant comes out. I love this phone.
I'll have buyers remorse if one of these other A72 devices gets the same battery life and camera for <$400
I love it coming from note 5. No regrets. Glad i didnt wait for mobile congress as i was very dissapointed with both lg and samsung. Love the mate 8
i agree, while LG had some nifty ideas regarding that modularity, all in all im not much impressed with either the G5 or S7 line... happy camper with my mate 8 indeed
This is probably the first phone I ever got that I didn't get buyers remorse hours after buying it. I've come from a S5, S4 and original Note before.
hours after buying? only phone? well that sounds like someone didnt do proper research first

Hello.
I am from germany. My Mate 8 is a chinese one with original B162 Rom. Notifications don`t work for me.
What i did:
data in sleep mode enabled
apps are allowed to stay active at sleep
notification in priority mode
rooted device
made WhatsApp and Android Wear (for my huawei watch) to system apps with Titanium Backup (i bought it before ...)
freeze phone manager
I dont`t get my notifications all the time. Very bad are notifications for my huawei watch. My phone rings (WhatsApp), but my watch doenst. Then i start the Android Wear app and the notifications are pushed to my watch.
The phone is ok. I am coming from Samsung S6 Edge+. But the notifications MUST come always.
What else can i try?
(sorry for my bad english)
I had only notification issues with whatsapp - however the situation has improved greatly after I installed the app Push Notification fixer ( no root version)
Now I'd say missed notifications is very very much lessen, probably around 10+ % only
All my other apps eg Maildroid ( only mail app I used), Friendcaster, some newsfeed app, XDA etc no notification problems at all
Mine is China set on B156 firmware ( non rooted)

Notification access settings in emotion ui?

I'm having a very, VERY difficult time getting this phone comfortably paired with my new Huawei watch. Irony of ironies, my Asus zenwatch 2 performed flawlessly for many months with the device, but since a factory reset, I can not get this to consistently stay paired with EITHER watch, leading me to believe it's an issue with the software, or the phone itself. I've got Android wear set to run with screen off, and ignoring battery optimizations, but still, many many times notifications I see received on my phone won't push to the watch, unless I open the Android wear app on my phone, at which point they forward immediately to the watch. Obviously, this is less than ideal to have to repeatedly do.
I've called Googles service number, and after very little troubleshooting they forwarded me to Huawei, who said I have to talk to the Chinese headquarters because Huawei USA doesn't service international devices. They don't have an international phone number that I've been able to find yet (Huawei USA has a wrong number listed for them.) And they haven't responded to my emails.
I've gone through many, many trial and errors trying to fix it on my own. I'd flash a custom rom if I was sure that would help, but I'm not versed in those ways, and I'd like to exhaust every other possibility before risking bricking.
I'm desperately trying to find a particular settings menu, for notification access, that emotion ui has squirrel away somewhere. I can tell it's a Huawei setting and not an android wear setting based on the aesthetics of the screen, but the only time I'm able to see this setting is when installing Android wear for the first time.
I'd like to check this setting WITHOUT having to unpair my watch and reinstall Android wear, but no amount of digging through the settings menu of emotion ui has shown me where to find it. It isn't in the notification menu, nor in permissions. Any gurus of this Android skin know where to find the notifications access settings page?
I have screenshots of the settings menu to show what I'm trying to find, but due to my post count I can't share links to them in this post, but I can pm them if that is helpful.
As an update to my situation, I discovered a slightly inelegant solution to accessing the notification access menu : I've started using an app called feel the wear to emphasize the notification vibrations, since the Huawei watch, particularly with a metal link band, is a little weak on the vibration motor. By uninstalling and reinstalling the app, it sends me to the notification access page again. The bad news, is that when my problem manifested again (after a phone restart, an event that consistently seems to be the catalyst for this) I reinstalled feel the wear, and Android wear was still enabled to have notification access.
So, to summarize, I've eliminated the following possibilities through troubleshooting that might cause the notifications to stop pushing to the watch unless I open the Android wear app on my phone (which immediately pushes the notifications to my watch.)
-notification access for Android wear
-doze settings (battery optimization is disabled for Android wear)
-Android wear has full permissions (trusted app)
-Android wear is set to auto launch, and is permitted to continue running after screen off.
Now, while I was in the notification access menu after reinstalling feel the wear, I did disable and then re-enable notification access for Android wear. This caused the watch to restart, notifications haven't delayed since that yet, but it hasn't lasted long enough for me to be comfortable that this remedies the issue.
Unpairing and repairing the watch every time this occurs isn't acceptable, is there any light to be shed on what could still be causing my problem?
Finally, if it could be any help, I'm a Tasker user, so if there is a profile I could write with a trigger when receiving a notification that might help, I have access to that utility. I tried writing one already, that, when my screen was off, would automatically open the Android wear app when receiving a notification from my three main apps that I monitor, but while the app was indeed open when I received notifications from one of those apps, it appeared that until the app was open with the screen ON, the notifications wouldn't push through, so it didn't solve my problem. Don't know if there's any action I can put in a profile that might "wake up" Android wear when I get a notification. (I hope my diligence in these Tasker pursuits illustrates the effort I've put into making this work, I adore this phone, and love Android wear, and really want them to play nicely together.)
Came across this thread while Googling for the same problem. I found a solution that while still inelegant, is better than the one you have here. I downloaded More Shortcuts. Which allows access to various settings activities that Huawei seems to hide, including Notification Access. Some of the android default stuff is there but then not functional. For example, I went to Data Usage which took me to a screen with black text on a black background, though also included a toggle and a dropdown that brings stuff up...
I tried downloading this app, but it doesn't seem to work with Nova Launcher. I'm curious to see what else I can modify
Please use the QUOTE feature when replying to me to get my attention. Thanks!

Fighting the power! (management)

Is it just me or this phone (or at least the CN RMX2071 roms) are super aggressive in closing apps? I know it's a general theme with "custom" (non aosp) based ROMs and most vendor UI takes, but it feels really really broken in these phones.
I have to keep the phone in "high performance" mode and even then i have to re-run some apps every other day (Nova launcher's google companion app) and even re-add widgets (Google Calendar) for them to continue to function, presumably because the power management system keeps shutting them down.
I have every single app to OFF in the App Freeze screen, every app is allowed to run in background (not the smart option, plain always-let-this-run option) and allowed to launch other apps (otherwise more things are broken) and it still feels like things are quirky due to how aggressive the power management is.
Am i missing something? are there more options that i missed? is it better in the EU/IN ROMs?
The eu rom fixes this problem
So a trade off of functionality vs latest security patches etc. Might be worth a try of switching over and at least trying it for a short little bit to determine.
Does anyone know if there's a differnce in behavior for Android Auto between CN and EU ROMs? (though i imagine its also related to power management at the least)
[DELETED]
I am on EU ROM here in the UK (A.28) and ever since I got this phone. It loves to close apps in the background. Facebook used 1400mah when it was just running in the background. Disabled it running in background, notifications work but now it only uses 234mah roughly. There system is messed up. Other apps that I like to use in the background include Google Clock and Skip Track Settings.
These I have a Tasker to launch both apps, with a little pause between launch. I have "Exclude from recent apps" enabled and then after they've launched. I get it to go home automatically. Then with my usage, I have this task running on boot, 5am (whilst I'm asleep) and on secondary app open. I don't notice it, other than when it boots and you just gotta let it run. My clock then works 100% of the time for my alarms and works all day.
One thing to note is, if you click "clear all" in recents, you have to run the task (I do this with the secondary app) to reopen the apps. Thankfyully, with Tasker with auto start-up enabled, it just works and is obviously in realme's don't close in background list.
Thankfully, with Android 11, a promising change to the rules for OEMs is that they can't have list of preferable apps and have to give all app developers an equal chance to running and not being killed. So hopefully, with Android 11, realme will have to stop this annoying practise.
Hope I've explained that well enough and you can use Tasker as a bootleg option
- Josh
Are you saying the power issues are still prevalent in the EU rom as well? If i got you right, You have some kind of a Tasker config to keep launching all the apps that the OS kills on various stages? Because i don't see how that would exclude them from being killed/blocked by the Realme UI service. Again, Unless there IS a difference in the EU rom.
In my case, I gave up on using Google Clock because the alarms never trigger and Android Auto is insanely hard to get running because it keeps killing SOME part of it or one of the apps im trying to use in Auto (Waze, Maps, Youtube Music, etc)

Yes, apps that realme likes to kill in the background. I have them opened by Tasker whilst I'm sleeping and on boot as realme doesn't close Tasker in the background and then the apps work fine all day. I don't notice it open them other than on boot as otherwise my phone is in standby.
Alarms never triggered for me as realme killed Google Clock, that's why now when it just opens in the background as I sleep it isn't killed.
I don't use my phone intensely and because Tasker opens them as apps, realme can't close them because they're still technically open, even though they don't show in recents. That's why when you clear all apps in recents, you need to then reopen them (that's what my secondary Tasker app does).
As for Android Auto, I haven't had any issue with it. When I use it, my car isn't technical so it uses the screen. I plug my phone in, turn the car engine on and phone begins to charge. Then with a bluetooth to FM adapter, my phone auto connects to bluetooth, and as soon as my phone connects, Android Auto automatically opens (as I have it enabled in Auto's settings) and I get it to play music automatically.
For someone using the actual plug in display to the car, I don't know. Android Auto came pre-installed and all I had to do was install the version for "phone screens".
If you need help with Tasker, my insta is below. Feel free to reply to this or message me on there.
Hope this helps

Due to a similar issue I had in my corporate Outlook e-mail app, I searched for a solution for the error I got there like "Your organization has removed its data associated with this app" and I found an article from Microsoft proposing a resolution (url not include in this post because it is not allowed, however it is quite easy to find it).
I followed that resolution proposed and it worked for Google Clock app. The alarm finally rang this morning!
Basically, you should go to app list, choose Google Clock (or even any clock app) and configure it as follows:
-in "Power Saver", choose ""Run in Background"
-Set "Allow Notifications" to on
-Set "Auto Startup" to on
-Set "Allow other Apps or Services to Launch" to on
Hope it helps
Yeah, I pretty much did that to every single app on the phone (Besides "Auto Startup" where the OS only allows you 5 outside the whitelisted apps it knows like whatsapp, discord, etc) and i still had interminent issues here and there. Thanks for the heads up either way!

I also enabled all of these settings (other than last one, can't find it) and had some days it worked, some days it didn't. So for the sake of my actual work, I used my Tasker method and works 100% of the time. Ultimately, realme kinda screwed us over. Ultimately, Android 11 should fix this with it's new guidelines so let's just work around it in the mean time.
Yeah, I'm yet to try your Tasker method, i definitely will though, it's basically the last ditch effort here. I just finished switching to the EU rom as well.

On Startup Manager, for me on EU ROM A.30, and since I first got the phone. The limit on Startup Manager was and still is 20 not recommended startup apps. This is, in realme's words, "to ensure the hone will run smoothly", like bollocks. My old phone had 3GB of RAM and has the exact same apps and ran fine (other than only allowing 3 backgrounds apps to run before memory ran out). But with 8GB and SD865, it's just their way of saying, oh look we have this amount of screen on time. Judging by the list on A.30, the Google Clock is now recommended (I don't think it was before). Either way, realme is gonna get shunned with Android 11's new guidelines and it'll be a fair playing field.

Yeah, EU rom (A.20 as its the only one compatible with the chinese model right now) seems to have saner behavior, 20 startup apps instead of 5 and i don't think it has that "allow others to launch" option at all, so not blocking it even? We'll know soon. App Freeze doesn't seem to be automatically enabling on apps, either, also good.
Google Clock worked for me this morning (i duplicated the "system" clock alarms, just a couple mins later to be sure something triggers)
I'll check Android Auto today as well.
I AM always on High Performance mode though.
The thing is about Android 11's changes, that they seem to be worded a little on the easy side in the Google language - makes it seem to me that Google is just asking the vendors to be a little clearer on what they do when informing the users, not that they absolutely can't kill background apps. Here's hoping though.

I keep my settings to standard and never do high performance stuff. I also use 60hz as although I love 90hz, I also love battery life and it isn't enough for me to justify the battery usage.
Yeah, I dropped down to normal and had no issues so far, without tasker of anything, just the EU A.20 ROM.
I am on 90Hz all the time though - As someone who is used to 144Hz monitors and gaming, i can sorely tell the difference between 60 and 90 and to me the battery life difference is somewhat negligible.
I haven't tried Android Auto, but we'll see soon enough. Android 11 also brings wireless Auto to everyone, so that might help there as well.

Do notifications work with screen off or not?

Hi all. In this Video the reviewer states that he isn't getting any notifications with the screen off. Also it is a problem for one of our members. Is anyone else having these hassles? Do you get incoming text, email AUDIO notifications without waking the phone?
Hi
I have no issue with notification at all..
Even when screen is off ..
U do have to active notification from each app setting and alow all permissins...
Also keep in maind to keep app running remove battery restriction from app setting also..
All will work normal
Working for me but I did need to grant WhatsApp and Trurcaller lots of permissions.
I even got True Edge installed for a visual way to get notified and that works brilliantly with the device asleep with screen off.
I was a bit surprised at the extra level of permissions needed. It's all gravy now, but I could see why a reviewer or somebody unaware would get caught out
But yes, I am getting notifications with the screen off in sound and visually, without having to wake the phone.
Indeed at first I wasn't getting any notifications but then I discovered you need to go into the app info and give permission for notifications and turn off battery saver.. now it works perfect and only for the apps I want
The video the OP posted is exactly whats happening to me. I have all the settings as described. Battery saver turned off and even when into each apps settings and allowed ALL permissions just to see if it would work. As the video says, notifications come, but you have to wake the device to see them, there is no sound or anything on screen until the device is woke. Exactly as the video describes. I do hope its fixed soon, I am back to using my Note 5 whilst my beautiful 10 Ultra sits in its box.

Have you undone your earlier modifications to the phone (copying files from phone to phone etc)?
You have two problems and the one to ignore for now is louder notifications. It's notifications at all.
It isn't something to fix from Xiaomi's view and it is always worth learning the software. I don't like it myself... It can be cloying etc.
But the default behaviour is to opt in to notifications. It's working as intended. That said look where we are, it's just your problems are a special case. No biggie, let's fix this!
You have an outstanding issue clouding this where you are trying to use unexplained files on the device (like seriously what format are they? Does it work in Music or anything? Have you tried removing them?)
Took a while but I get all my notifications now when screen is off, see 2vattached screen shots
Thanks all for answering my question! I think this is my last question before buying from Liaow.com, if the syncing isn't a constant problem. Does anyone have a major syncing problem as explained in this review? Once or twice a day I can deal with. I check the calendar throughout the day like most people. However if I get busy and forget, missing calendar events/alarms wouldn't work for me. I'd be forced to use my work iPhone<shudder> for calendar events lol.

How did you get the icons to show on the lock screen?
Mine doesn't. Quite annoying.
Also sometimes the lockscreen doesn't show me notifications even tho they are there.. :s
I have no issues with icons displaying while locked. You do need to enable them and ensure they start automatically and power control is turned off for the app. It has been much easier in the EU ROM for some reason.
Solution!
Here is the thing that helped me with the same notification issue! Just google "xiaomi mi 10 ultra notifications" and in the top 5 links you'll probably find an article from: theunpopulartraveller. It explains the settings, and they need to be accessed by pressing and holding the app icon ^ app info.
Don't give up, try and you'll get the sounds from needed apps back. And ye, actually now I find the way Xiaomi did it much more convenient: I just turned on notifications for 2 apps, and all the rest are silent, while previously I had to turn off all the rest of the apps (much more than 2, definitely) not to get disturbed by all the bull****.
EU Rom doesn't have the "importance" option at 30/31
Well after trying to update to 12.1.1 and seeing what a buggy heap of junk it was, I factory reset, installed 12.0.15, and formatted data. But now notifications don't work when the screen is off whatsoever, absolutely no notifications. Beautiful. I'm so sick of the software issues with this phone, I'm definitely never buying another Xiaomi phone at this point.

Disable adaptive notifications from setting. I dont know what google thinking when creating such feature.
it basically interrupt the whole notification process. Using so called Ai to decide, when to give you notifications or when not to. But most of the time it pick wrong decision and delay our notification altogether.
This is android feature since Q thus also causing problem on Pixel phone. On xiaomi seems like it suddenly got worse on Android 11

How did u manage to roll back to 12.0.15?
Get over to the EU ROM version. Lock screen notifications work fine.
Have you checked each notification that it has no battery optimisation set, also, check in notifications that each one has access to the lock screen. Since A11, notifications have been a pain but for some reason they do work much better on the EU ROM.

There are issues for Gpay and some banking / local safetynet apps for EU ROM which i do not wish to live with.
Somehow the props file in the eu rom causes those issues.
i am probably going to rollback to 12.0.15... now is the excruciating 160 hours wait for unlock.
You obviously don't follow the EU forums. GPay works, safeynet works and my UK bank works. But you also get everything plus more than the Chinese stock and all updates are based on both weekly and stable stock ROMs respectively.

i don't follow it to the tee, but i've seen some reports of some users not able to use gpay out of the stable roms.
