Hi, The purpose of this thread is to provide information about a firmware, whether it is downgradeable or not.
DISCLAIMER: This thread is still subject to be changed, and still contains quite a few versions. If you think I broke your device, which has a good possibility to happen when downgrading, you get to keep the both pieces.
Fire HD 10 (2017):
5.6.1.0 - Downgradeable to 5.6.0.1, 0% (LK × PL ? TEE ?)
Fire HD 8 (2017):
5.6.1.0 - Downgradeable to 5.6.0.1, 99% (LK ✓ PL ✓ TEE ✓, no successful reports)
5.6.0.1 - Downgradeable to 5.6.0.0, 90% (Unchecked, two reports)
5.6.0.0 - Downgradeable to 5.4.0.1, 5% (5 brick reports)
5.4.0.1 - Downgradeable to 5.4.0.0 0% (More than 20 brick reports)
Fire HD 7 (2017):
ANTI-ROLLBACK NOT IMPLEMENTED! :good:
Thanks, and good luck downgrading!
I have a question about your post. (I have a Fire HD 8 w/5.6.1.0). Are you saying that the 8 has a success rate of 75% to downgrade from 5.6.1.0 to 5.6.0.1? And a 90% chance to downgrade from 5.6.0.1 to 5.6.0.0? If so, would it be theoretically possible to downgrade from 5.6.1.0 to 5.6.0.1 and then downgrade from 5.6.0.1 to 5.6.0.0? Or maybe go from 5.6.1.0 directly to 5.6.0.0?
Also, what does the LK, PL, and TEE mean? Thanks.

LK, PL and TEE are checked by ANTI-ROLLBACK. About your question, I told 75% because LK versions match. Maybe TEE doesn't match but it's a very rare case. I can say for sure when I get back to my PC.
Yes, you should be able to downgrade to 5.6.0.1 from 5.6.1.0, :good: LK, PL and TEE all good.
Is there a 5% chance to downgrade to 5.4.0.1 and no chance to 5.4.0.0? What is the difference in 5.6.0.0? Can we get root in that version? I read the thread to uninstall the system app but it doesn't work in 5.6.0.0. How about 5.4.0.1?
My HD 10 came with 5.4.1.0 originally. It updated to 5.6.0.1. Would I still be able to downgrade?
Also we have a Mediatek SoC correct? I was browsing Github and came across a TWRP build amongest other things, for the same SoC. It seems the Amazon Fire TV has the same SoC. Just thought it would be a more interesting read for some. This post is interesting because it has a scatter file for the MT8173. Apologies if no use.

It can be extremely useful, if we somehow trigger the meta mode of the SoC. But, it's not very useful for HD 10, but can be quite easily ported to MT8163, HD 8. So, we just have to find the secret of meta mode.

I'm not sure about the HD 10. I didn't manage to find any older firmware, I have to find them for validating the versions.

Much of the downgrades here doesn't have practical purposes.... yet. You can uninstall system apps only in 5.4.0.0, and you can't get root on any version.

I want to reflash an older version of firmware so I can register to amazon and see what devo mode does with OTA enabled. I don't want to get stuck on a new, unknown version of FireOS while I am experimenting.

For Fire HD 8, which OS allows you to Disable system apps?
5.4.0 allows uninstallation, that I know.

Right, 5.4.0.0 and before allows to uninstall.
It's not possible to "disable", it requires root, but 5.4.0.0 or before allows hiding, which is very similar to disable.

So, it will work by flashing stock mpj24.139-63 only or I have to relock Boot loader again by flashing stock mm.
I'm in confusion. Also Please suggest that should I flash gpt and bootloader during downgrade operation or flash everything except these two.

As we all know Samsung has started pushing the final Nougat build to users, Indians are going to get the OTA soon in the coming weeks. I want to update my phone finally & root it at the same time. Before I do that I wanted to clarify the steps I'm going to perform with you guys to avoid any mistakes. Hope this is full proof.
I'm currently on 6.0.1 SM930FD.
The attached screenshot has all the steps I'm going to perform, the only change is step 12 where ROM will change to Super su zip file.
I hope there is no modem changes? Or any sort of bootloader upgrade that needs to be performed?
Thanks for all the help people, hope this helps everyone.

Well I found much better way with installing this [Universal Script S7/S7 Edge] UniMod V1 (Debloat+Root+Busybox+AdBlock+More)
So I've been watching some videos on how to root s7 on nougat & I can see mostly people using magisk with phh root? I really liked the idea of magisk as we can un root the device at any give point just with a simple switch. Imagine OTA updates (not sure if it works) though there is flash fire for that purpose but if magisk works flawless then why not? What are your thoughts on this?

Unlock yes, root no.
Going system root might work. Systemless will be tricky as the boot partition is split into a ramdisk partition and a kernel partition. And some files that used to be in ramdisk could be in /system now, I haven't investigated much (this is the case with OPO3 Oreo).
But I like Oreo so I hope Magisk will work with it in the future.

Yes, for whatever reason there is no 'a' mentioned under build number. The a is in the internal Huawei build number so FunkyHuawei shows it like that.
Under further review, the phones do report the 321a to FunkyHuawei's server as the installed version regardless, so if you finished the install it is 321a. Nothing to worry about.

Android O for C636 exists, but it's an older version from September, branded as EMUI 6, before they decided to make it EMUI 8. Probably newer beta one coming soon. There are new ones for C900 (hw/normal) branding, Latin America branding, Russia branding... I just haven't released them.

I didn't install it yet, just downloaded update.zip and those. Mainly to check vendor image without installing it...
Edit: oh, duraaraa already answered
I got all the three Oreo files too via the HiSiute method, since even with a correct DNS setting, wherever I could stick it I got "Package information download failed". Installed via the HWOTA successfully though. The Oreo test build is quite buggy when it comes to Wireless tethering and LTE speeds. Feels much slower then my N European 194 build so far. Shows "Phone Overheating" a lot too, something I never saw on my N build either. Have yet to see how long the battery will last. See few differences in the camera, maybe added zoom in raw mode. Still no Monochrome Raw, or 1080p Timelapses.
its 367MB , guessing its the3 nov security patch with a add on or 2 hotspot mod non root still works through update

Thanks. I had seen some information indicating we MIGHT get some iteration of 7.1.x before getting 8.0. Who knows when we'll get 8.0 though. It's in beta now for the S8/Note 8, but even for those phones it's still probably going to be at least a couple of months before they get 8.0. And we definitely won't get it before they do...

I am guessing they are referring to this one.
I think it also updated the bootloader

Correct, it went from binary 4 to binary 5. From what I've read and gathered once you take the update you can't downgrade firmware because the older ones are using binary 4

One minor (major) thing they left out of the change log. People are complaining on the S7 forums because they can no longer flash to U firmware. I haven't tried it, but I've also seen people have issues with rooting now because they need an updated eng_boot.
Does anyone have this firmware for download? it's not on Samfirm yet and now im stuck in a recovery loop and trying to flash the previous firmware fails due to the new bootloader. Google shows nothing.

I'll confirm that this hotspot method still works after this latest update! It was one of my concerns.

Were you able to get this yet?
Here is the Sprint firmware, for use with Odin, from the newest release. I can't take credit for finding it -- I requested it in another thread and someone posted it for me. I have now put it on my GD (the link below), just in case the original one goes away.

Try GMS Installer (see attachment), this app is for China android devices that want to install Google Play Service.

I figured out now why GMS didn't work, coz I flashed the magisk boot zip and I have an unlocked bootloader. I went back to stock then tried the app and it worked. Thanks! Now I'm just wondering if the device was reset then I have to do the same procedure again?

OHHH I see, cuz I extracted it all noticed its setup with oreo file structure minus the vendor partition. It's all in system/vendor ie: adreno, firmware, vendor/etc for settings/configs. I assumed it had oreo already. Thank you for clarifying much appreciated.

Hello, you can help, I have this HTC U11 EYES terminal, but it says that it comes with oreo, it's not like that, it brings android 7.1.2, the seller says that the phone is not root nor is it altered it is that way, because it is not updated , Thank you.
ok I understand that there is only at the moment 7.1.2?
But the level of security patch is November 1, 2017 should not be updated, thank you very much
Device launched in January with Nougat 7.1.2, it will not get Oreo for awhile yet...It did not come with Oreo.. So I would say the seller misled you...
