Dear XDA members,
I'm trying to have tasks done with ifttt/ Tasker app.
E.g when Bluetooth is connected to a certain device I want that to trigger and open a VPN connection (OpenVPN).
Is there an app out there that can achieve the above task?
I know you can use Tasker to fire up an OpenVPN connection on WiFi Connect, I would assume it could do the same with Bluetooth.

Update for you, they changed the intent for OpenVPN 3.0.X, here's the set up for it - https://forum.xda-developers.com/u/...nvpn-3-0-0-connect-disconnect-tasker-t3750552

I have a Bluetooth tether enabled Android phone and Android Tablet.
Does anyone know what app (widget) can specifically connect the tablet to the Phone's bluetooth tether? one click?
without going into the settings?
Try WiFi Manager. There are different set of widgets. You can ask google too.
Took a look at Wifi Manager on the play store, the description does not mention anything about Bluetooth.
The Search continues
Doesn't the device connect automagically when you switch bt on? I only have to pair my devices once and the connect upon turning bt on.
No, Bluetooth tethering doesn't automatically connect.
It wouldn't make sense to.
What if WiFi is already connected?
What if your bt headphone is always supposed to be connected but you don't always need Bluetooth tethering?
In any case, I solved the problem by using Tasker annd secure settings.
It will automatically connect to the cell phone's bluetooth tether when I launch the web browser or youtube or gmail if wifi is not connected.
Gotta love android. You can make your own solutions!

Hello all,
This is my first smartwatch, I am having some troubles connecting to certain WIFI. Is there limitations on what kind of WIFI network this watch can see and connect to? My home WIFI seems to work just fine, but when I am at work, it doesnt see all the networks, and the one it does see......it wont let me connect to? Is there any way to fix this? I am guessing it might be some sort of security settings on the WIFI at my workplace?

It may not have the functionality to connect to 5.0ghz, only 2.4ghz Wi-Fi. I can't test that because my home router is from my broadband provider. I tried a google search and the only thing that came up was that it can connect to wireless b/g/n. Nothing stating if it can or cannot connect to 5.0ghz.
it can only connect to 2.4 ghz networks.
5 ghz usually need a/ac standard to connect to.
Hello I'm sorry if this is in the wrong spot, but I am new to these forms and I have a simple question about creating an access point on my tablet. My Lenovo tablet is rooted and I've been searching for an app that will create an access point.
What I want to do is use my wifi and then use my tablet to connect to that wifi and then use the tablet as a wifi extender. I know they have fqrouter2, but that is for any os under 4.4. I'm currently on 4.4.4. Any suggestions for an app that can turn my android device into a wifi extender?
Thank you in advance.

Have you tried PDAnet for tablets, or Foxfi?

Yes I have tried Pdanet. That will disconnect me off of my current wifi and try to host a hotspot off of my own cell phone data.

I don't think it's possible to have both WiFi and WiFi hotspot turned on simultaneously.
What I do though, is connect my phone to the WiFi, then use the Bluetooth tethering feature on the phone to create the access point. That could work for you, if all your devices support Bluetooth tethering.
The range isn't as good as your WiFi router, but its roughly as good as the WiFi AP you'd create with your phone/tablet
There use to be an app that was called Fqrouter2 that did. Unfortunately my worthless Vita doesn't support Bluetooth tethering for internet access.
On my old SM-G900a(GS5) I was able to use tasker to turn on wifi tethering when it connected to my HU via BT. Now with my SM-G955u, tasker cant do it due to a permissions issue. Now i can download a app/widget to control tethering, but i'm nut sure how to have tasker work with that app properly. Perhaps ther is a better method entirely to get around all of this. Any suggestions?
thanks.
So I have noticed you can use the OpenVpn Connect app on your device to connect to a VPN using tasker, and tasker's automation. I am curious is it possible by doing the same but using the Android Built in VPN client instead of a thirdparty app?
I have tried to see if there is an intent that is used to connect and disconnect, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I have used logcat to try and see if I can figure out how it connects, but I can't see the way it does.
Any help at all is a huge help. I know I can just do it how everyone else seems to but wheres the fun in that
Thanks in advance.
