I am rooted on OC3 with KNOX intact. Is there currently a way to upgrade to OG9 while keeping root and not tripping KNOX?
My main motivation is in using Samsung Pay.
With Android pay, I can uninstall superuser (unroot) and Android pay works. then if i need to do something that requires root access, i can re-install SU and do what i need. will something similar work with Samsung Pay?
will i simply be able to sideload the Samsung pay APK and Framework APK? or will i have to upgrade to OG9? is there a way to upgrade to OG9 and keep root & KNOX?
what are those of you in my same situation planning on doing?
thanks!
In the same boat. **** up the creek without a paddle.

Same as you: Stock (OC3), rooted, Knox intact.
I had successfully installed Android pay. Disabled root with SuperSU. Activated my cards. Re-enabled root. And I was able to make android pay purchases! I was a happy camper....for about 1 day.
Now every time I go to pay I get the message: "This card cannot be used right now." I have tried everything I can think of short of permanently removing root or removing SuperSU itself: different cards, disabling root, rebooting, etc
I was just in the Play Store looking at root cloaking. Has anyone had any success with non-xposed root cloaking? I was looking at the app: Rootcloak Plus / Cydia Substrate. Don't know if that would work on our devices or if that would screw up knox. Anyone know anything about it? I don't have an up-to-date backup so I'm not going to try it just yet.
Here is to hoping someone finds a solution....
do yo have a link for the samsung pay APKs? all the ones i have seen on XDA will not install.
also, did you install the framework or just the samsung pay APK?
thanks!
Samsung pay finally showed up for me on Google play. It downloaded and installed. When I open Samsung pay I get a message that says a software update is required. When I click the update button, Samsung pay closes and I get a pop up that says unfortunately Samsung pay had stopped. Will installing the Samsung pay framework fix this?
From all I've seen, you have to be on OG9 for Pay to work. You could try installing the framework as well, and see if that works. It would be installed automatically in OG9.
for me, samsung pay was more important than root. it was one of the main reasons i got the phone as i tend to forget my wallet a lot...lol. as mentioned by others, when trying to install samsung pay when rooted, it would ask to update. so i unrooted via SU and updated to OG9. as of now, samsung pay is installed and working. however, does any know if i can still get root? i read somewhere that you just have update the ping pong root app and reapply. however, i've also read that ping pong root will not work with 0G9.

There is currently no way to get root on OG9.
OE2 is the last rootable firmware version.
Is there anyway to downgrade OG9 to OE2? Accidently upgraded..
So I have a galaxy s4 active and I rooted a while back with kingroot I know it isn't good but I did it anyway... and unistalled king root completely and supposedly should have removed my root. So I was trying to play Pokemon Go after recently purchasing a pokemon go plus and I can't play and it is because of safetynet even though I have no root. I realized that when I boot up my s4 a screen with a padlock icon and text that says custom appears. I thought this may mean my bootloader is unlocked and that this could trigger me failing safety net. I have been looking every where on how to relock my bootloader. I just want to pass that safety net baloney.

Greetings and welcome to assist. Try installing latest stock firmware for your device with odin or kies/smartswitch
Regards
Sawdoctor
I used smartswitch and I have the latest firmware
So I used smartswitch and it said I had the latest firmware what now?
I tried everything
So smartswitch said my device isn't compatible to initialize (sgh-i537) so I tried using Odin to return to stock but the only firmware avaliable for my device is kitkat and I have lollipop so I cant downgrade can I? Even then I get and error in download mode saying fail secure download: boot or something like that. If I hard reset through the stock recovery will I be able to pass safetynet I even tried triangle away because I thought maybe it had something to do with my system being custom and it needed to be official and triangle away didn't even work I tried rooting again just so I could rename the su files to su1 which people said would let you play that didn't work either I looking how get magisk I couldn't do it. Is there anyway I can fully go back to stock that will work and will allow me to pass safetynet I am not concerned about root currently I don't need it.
hi folks. i have an unrooted s7 exynos. i would like to install some modified system apps like the blackout apps. youtube, google app etc. i need root to do that but have concerns about android pay. i know this will permanently trip knox and kill samsung pay but not bothered about spay.
i also know that i can potentially use magisk and still be able to use android pay, but that situation seems fluid. anyone know if i can root, change system apps, unroot, and still be guaranteed android pay working? or is it any modification at all to /system that will block it? and if that is the case, presumably reflashing stock rom to recover android pay access should work?
cheers.
If you pass safety net then android pay will work, in theory if you successfully unrooted with no traces left behind then safety net will pass. But the challenge would be a clean unroot, I'm not sure how easy that is. Most unroot methods I've seen are a reset, so you'd lose your app changes anyway.
Magisk is quite effective, afaik the only thing it can't hide from saftey net is Xposed.
I am sorry for being dumb by post this questions, I want to root my S7 so i can install costume rooms.
My question is; does rooting can affect my device and make problems?
What is this whole thing about the Samsung Knox?
What is the simple way to flash rom white/out root?
If i want to restore my phone to the stock, it is possible to do it?
And what about the warranty is the warranty will become void?
Thanks in advanced.

I think about root
U will get a lot of articale on google about
advantage of root and disadvantages of root
About knox
If you root your device, you trip the Knox Warranty bit. Knox services do not run on devices that have tripped the Warranty bit, because this indicates a device is rooted and flashed with an unofficial Android build
But u can flash custom rom without root but when u will flash any custom recovery your will warranty not be valid
And i don't about
Is there any way to revert your warranty of u have triggered knox
But u can easily come to your stock rom
With root or without root

You must use Odin to flash twrp recovery, just watch on YouTube there are many useful videos about it. This is how you root your phone.
Yes it is possible to go back on stock Samsung rom by flashing stock rom from sammobile or updato site. Everything will be as it was before root except your Knox is void 0x1 and u cant use Samsung Pay ect.

Thanks for helping me out, one last thing; i have all my images on the samsung cloud and i found this thing: The following Knox services are affected if a Warranty bit is tripped.
Knox Platform for Enterprise
Existing Workspace's are permanently locked and the data is no longer accessible.
New Workspace's can't be created.
Knox Cloud Services
All Knox Cloud services stop working because they rely on a Knox license key to operate – For example, Knox Mobile Enrollment, Knox Configure, and Knox Manage.
Other Secure Samsung services
Samsung E-FOTA stops working.
Unique Knox security features stop working, such as Real Time Kernel Protection (RKP) , or Device Attestation.
Other Samsung Services that require Knox stop working – for example, Samsung Pay and Secure Folder.
If i will root my S7 all photos will be locked or removed?

Hey all, new at all this and the site. Forgive me if I'm asking a ridiculous question. But, can I root my Note 20? And get Google gone and make it safe? (Safe = not tracked. By apps and google/gov, and freedom to not worry about my privacy)
And who has the patience to walk me through it.
Same question for Galaxy J3.
